An Igbo man will never be #Nigeria’s president – MASSOB

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) says an Igbo man will never be Nigeria’s president because leaders of the ethnic group are “political slaves”.

Uchenna Madu, leader of the group, said this in a statement issued in Enugu on Tuesday.

He also said faulted Nigeria’s present political structure.

?”The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra has declared that an Igbo man may not be president of Nigeria again because Igbo leaders are political slaves in Nigeria,” he said.

“Even 2019 and 2023 will come and go, an Igbo man will not be president of Nigeria.”

He insisted on the actualisation and restoration of Biafra, and not Igbo presidency.

“We insist on the actualisation and restoration of Biafra through non-violence, not Igbo presidency,” Madu said.

“The way Nigeria is structured politically, it will be very hard for an Igbo man to be the president of Nigeria.”

He said the structuring of Nigeria has reduced the Igbo to a minority “tribe”, despite being the largest ethnic group in the country.

“The structuring almost reduced the Ndigbo to a minority tribe in Nigeria but history has always proved that the Ndigbo are the largest ethnic nationality in Nigeria,” he said.

“Even though five states were accorded to the Ndigbo in Nigeria but we are the largest ethnic group in every state after the indigenes of that state. In all the nations of the world, the Ndigbo are also the largest Nigerian ethnic nationality.

“During the Yuletide, all the states in Nigeria become temporary deserts when the Ndigbo return to their hometowns.”

Southeast Governors Meet To Discuss Development For Igbo Tribe

Governors of the five south east states in Nigeria, have been deliberating on issues of insecurity and economic integration, among other challenges facing the region.

The meeting which resumed for the first time since 2014, under the aegis of the Southeast Governors Forum, was held behind closed doors at the Government House in Enugu state.

The gathering included governors of Anambra, Abia, Imo, Ebonyi and Enugu states, alongside the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremmadu and President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Nnia Nwodo.

The meeting lasted for about two hours, after which the Ebonyi state Governor, David Umahi, emerged chairman of the forum.

Expressing his happiness over the leadership position, he said: “I want to first of all accept the leadership position that my colleagues have imposed on me, not being the most qualified but, they decided that I should lead the governors forum at a time like this.

“I want to thank them with all sense of humility and I want to accept it with all heart.”

Governor Umahi said the meeting was largely about deliberations on the Igbo nations, individual states and Nigeria in general.

He further stated that they looked at how security can be integrated.

“One of the things we talked about is security integration we have agreed to compare notes, talk with our CPs to do security integration, and other security agencies so that the issue of kidnapping, robbery and other terrible insecurities in our various states will be looked together because we realise that when kidnap happens, the victim is taken to another state of the southeast” he explained.

The governor then expressed optimism that this decision would help to secure lives and property of citizens better.

He noted that economic integration was also top on the agenda. “We have agreed that we are going to have proper economic integration and to this effect, we agreed that we are going to appeal to commissioners in charge of economic planning to come together and discuss and compare notes, use consultants and come up with blueprints on how we can have proper economic integration of the southeast”.

Meanwhile, Governor Umahi said that they equally agreed that the only way to fruitful results and to improve the lives of the people, is to work as a team, compare notes and adopt the peer review mechanism where a state learns from what is happening in other states.

He announced that they support the leadership of Ohaneze, as led by Dr. Nnia Nwodo, urging the people to support the leadership so that Ohaneze can continue to be a voice for cultural integration and welfare of the Igbo people.

Continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu cannot stop the agitation for Biafra – MASSOB

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign state of Biafra (MASSOB) has said the continued detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu will not stop its agitation.

Leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu said this in a statement on Sunday in Abakaliki.

Madu said Buhari’s administration was imposing “imposing Islamic Hausa Fulani agenda on the rest of Nigeria.”

The statement read in part: “History teaches us, arrest and detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and others at different prisons and DSS detention camps will not take away the problem; neither will it stop the struggle insofar as the conditions that birthed Nnamdi Kanu and other agitators remain.

“We want Nigerian President Buhari to continue to showcase his anti behaviours which always expresses his frustrations, weaknesses, failures and jittery.

“Any king who thinks like Pharaoh of Egypt against the Jews will certainly experience the doom of Pharaoh. No man born of a woman can crush Biafra because God, History and Humanities are on our side, Biafra revolution is in destructive.

“Biafra agitation is only a reaction to the many injustices, exclusion, second class citizenship, born to rule philosophy, marginalization and other forms of inequality that characterise the Nigerian state.

“As every revolutionary struggle has its own methodology, the current Biafran struggle for actualization and restoration will continue to unfold confusing methods to president Buhari and his Islamic minded fundamentalist.

“Buhari’s military civilian administration is the worst government, Nigeria ever experienced, his leadership style of enforcing and imposing Islamic Hausa Fulani agenda on the rest of Nigeria people is tremendously assisting and justifying our struggle for Biafra actualization.

“Buhari’s stubbornness and Islamic fundamentalism against the Christian Southern, Eastern and Middle Beltan regions have reawakened the consciousness and thought of future survival of the indigenous people of this regions.

“MASSOB also wishes to inform President Buhari that arresting/detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi and many other IPOB members including MASSOB members detained in Onitsha/ Awka prisons since 2006, they are Innocent Orji, Sabastine Amadi, Ikechukwu Chikwem, Peter Igbokwe, Uchenna Nicholas, Uche Idika, Casmir Odokara, Eni Kalu, Chidiebere Ezekwem, Chima Asoh (A cripple), Ojimba Anyanwu, Ndubuisi Okam, Emmanuel Orji, Micheal Okezie, Ikechukwu Aghari, Mmaduabuchi Asika, Chinwike Irondi, Chukwuma Kalu, Chukwuebuka Ikenwa, Amah Onu, Okwudiri Basil (female) and Onyekachi Orji (female).

“Among these 22 detained members in the prisons custody are a crippled man and two females. Persecutions, mesmerizations, suppressions and oppressions of Biafrans including clampdown on non-violent and armless agitators because of our agitation for self rule only worsens the problem and underscores Nigeria as a creeping and repressive colonial state.”

Alex Ekwueme, Ogene make case for Igbo presidency.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme, President of Ohaneze in Anambra State, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene and other Igbo leaders have called for Igbo presidency, saying, it was long overdue.

Ekwueme who did not specify if the Igbos should take their shot come 2019, said: “I pray that the other people (Igbos) can take it up from there and make progress.

The former vice president, who spoke yesterday at St Bernard Catholic Church, Caliber during the child dedication ceremony of Chief and Lolo Chukwuemeka Egwuonwu (KSM), added: “I would have contested for the number one position in 1987 but the military intervened in 1983 and the civilian regime was cut short.”

To Ogene, who was also at the event, “an Igbo presidency is overdue but as far as I am concerned it is not something that is coming out now. Our President General, Chief Nnia Nwodo, is going to make the stand of Ohaneze known as regards to the presidency. Igbo presidency is long over due whether it is 2019 or 2023, our own President General will make our stand known.”

However, the leaderships of the Yoruba and Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere and Ohanaeze have resolved to work together in protecting the interest of the two nationalities and seeing to the progress of nation.

In a resolution after the first meeting Nwodo would hold with any group outside Igbo land, the two organisations resolved that the paramount interest of Nigeria and the development of all ethnic nationalities that made up the country should be made paramount.
Received by Chief Ayo Adebanjo, who stood in for the leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, the apex Igbo group said the decision to make the Yoruba socio-cultural group its first place of touching base arose from the fact that it was the first organisation that openly congratulated him and followed with phone calls from its prominent leaders.

Meanwhile, former Vice President General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Chief Enechi Onyia (SAN) has warned of the consequences of allowing the organisation to be infiltrated by politicians who parade themselves as leaders of the people.

Onyia told reporters in Enugu at the weekend that it would be dangerous for the Igbo apex socio-cultural grouping to drift from the aspirations of its founding fathers.

He blamed the crisis in the organisation on past leaders who enthroned a reign of impunity by acting independent of its constitution.

Also, Governor Simon Lalong said the Plateau State government had resumed partnership with the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).

He made the disclosure while receiving leaders of the group led by its vice chairman, Liman Kwande, in Jos at the weekend.

On 2019 Igbo presidency: who shall we send? – By Sheyi Babaeko

The Nigerian ex-president, a life senior fellow cum elder stateman, Olusegun Obasanjo during this year’s thanksgiving service in his palatial mansion, Ottah Ogun State called for an Igbo President in 2019.

Though this has generated mixed reactions among Nigerians, the call for Igbo presidency according to the elder statesman is in the “interest of Justice and Fairness”. I quite agree with the position of Obasanjo, and I would like to add that the high “Egba Chief” has right to voice his personal opinion whether anyone agrees or not. It will be unfair to attack Obasanjo over his opinion.

While Obasanjo remains a controversial figure in the political history of our dear country, providence have always laid on him the responsibility of navigating the ‘ship’ of Nigerian state away from predictable collisions with “political icebergs” that would have pushed us ashore or sink this country totally and finally. We may not always agree with him but there are credentials we cannot just take away from him.

Baba came back into lime light when he became the Nigeria civilian president in 1999 and many of his achievements are noticeable. I peculiarly respect him for keeping his promise of “reinstatement” of student union activists. Prominent among these was the reinstatement of Anthony Fasayo (Dr Anthony Fashayo was the student union activist who spent 21 years in the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife before graduating. He sacrificed all his energy and ambitions to fight for Nigerian students).

Now that Baba has lent his voice to those calling for Igbo presidency in 2019 general election, who shall we send? The issue of Igbo presidency is expected to generate questions and tensions and we all know that Igbo presidency is long overdue, but the question again is “who will go for us?” These are questions begging for answers.

Igbo race lack unity, and this lack of unity has caused a bi-polar trend within them. Some have opted for “self-determination” while the other extreme believes that “Igbo presidency” in the future is a better option that will address their yearnings and aspirations. Nigeria needs a visionary leader to reposition this country and redirect the sinking ship to its serene watercourse.

The south eastern part of Nigeria is the most marginalized, underdeveloped and neglected region. Hence, the clamor for an Igbo presidency cannot be said to be an inappropriate call. If opting for an Igbo President in 2019 can right the wrong, calm secessionist movements, satisfy their yearnings and re-unite this country, so be it. This call is understandable and I support it without being immodest.

In my own personal opinion I urge the Igbo people particularly the youths to unite and quickly call for a summit of Igbo sons and daughters with the view of producing a credible candidate for this noble task ahead before it’s too late (Perhaps If providence will offer them this golden opportunity). We should go beyond “sermony” of peace and Justice when we are not ready to entrench them on the altar. Peace and Justice are like the South Pole and the North Pole of two ‘lodestones’. They attract and embrace each other; there is therefore no peace without justice. Justice MUST prevail for peace to reign.

I am committed and resolute towards Igbo presidency in 2019. It is in view of this that I am joining Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, well meaning Nigerians at home and abroad and the Igbo race in particular for an Igbo president come 2019. May God continue to bless the federal Republic of Nigeria.

Babaeko, a policy analyst and security adviser, is based in the UK.

Buhari commences construction of second Niger bridge, adds rail to the plan.

There is excitement in the south east region following the start of work on the second Niger Bridge which is meant to link the south south and south east geopolitical zone.

The construction of the bridge has been an issue since the administration of former president, Goodluck Jonathan who performed the ground-breaking ceremony.

Construction of second Niger bridge commences

Vanguard reports that there were serious sign that work will begin in earnest while job seekers were seen in the area looking for opportunities to join the work force.

Senator Chris Ngige who is the minister of labour said on Saturday, January 31 that the federal executive council had approved N14 billion to enable Julius Berger to commence work,

He also said another N16 billion was accommodated in the 2017 budget for additional payment for the construction of the bridge.

Ngige said the bridge has been redesigned and would have a railway line that would connect Asaba in Delta State with Onitsha in Anambra State.

This is expected to ease the pressure of heavy duty vehicles using the bridge to transport goods.

He called on Nigerians not to stand in the way of success by making unnecessary demand.

“This is a project that previous administrations played politics with and the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari has decided to ensure its realization. Our people should not allow the issue of compensation to hinder the construction work because of its enormous benefits to the people,”

Nigeria is angry with Igbo’s growth, development – Nebo

The former Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, has said that there would be no Nigeria without Igboman, who were made special people by God to build economy of the country.

He said that other ethnic nationalities in the country envy the Igbo nation because of their resourcefulness, dignity of labour and rich cultural heritage.

Professor Nebo who was also the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, made this known while speaking to newsmen at the South East Development and Leadership Initiative (SELDI) 2016 in Enugu with the theme “Integrating the Southeast Economy for Sustainable Growth and Development”.

He urged all Igbo sons and daughters from different walks of life to return home and invest with a view of making our homeland great again.

“Nigeria is angry with the Igbo’s growth and development. It is obvious. It is only in Nigeria that a traditional ruler will open his mouth and say that if you do not vote for this person, then we will drown you and throw you into the lagoon. A traditional ruler who is suppose to be the promoter of peace and custodian of the people’s culture and tradition”.

“It is high time we woke up and believed in ourselves. The Igbos are great people all over the world. About 80% of Igbo wealth is in the Diaspora. We invest outside the country without coming back home. We need to adopt the “think home philosophy”, come back home and develop our land.

“We need to build and develop love for one another. The philosophy of “igwebuike” (togetherness) is still there. There shall be capacity for mentorship for our younger generation.

The former Minister, who described the summit as timely and apt, also advocated for an improved educational system that will ensure that capable individuals are produced from institutions of learning.

“We need to build an educational system that is relevant. It is not just enough to churn out graduates into the labour market. We need to develop our education system and curriculum in science, innovation and mathematics”, he said.

In an address, the Lead Promoter of SELDI, Mr Ikenna Modebelu, said “SELDI’s vision recognizes the challenges of the southeast region and aims to tackle them by promoting leadership that will foster development in areas of investment, infrastructure development, economic growth, value re-orientation, emerging market opportunities and youth empowerment through intensive advocacy campaigns”.

“The promoters of SELDI believe that there is leadership deficit across all classes in the region including elites who have failed to lead by example. SELDI is committed to the “Think home, build home” philosophy and believes that time has come for the southeasterners to come together and join hands in developing the region for the good of present and future generations”, his address read.

Why Igbos are now accepting APC – Vice Chairman

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has attributed the recent defections of politicians from the south-east to the ruling party to the commitment shown by President Muhammadu Buhari to execute vital projects in the zone.

The National Vice Chairman (South East) of the APC, Emma Enuekwu, stated this while speaking to journalists at the party secretariat in Abuja after a meeting of south-east stakeholders.

The meeting was to plan for fresh membership registration in the zone.

Mr. Enuekwu said Igbos are beginning to have confidence in the new administration and are wiser after the 16-year rule of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

“The problem with the south easterners before the election was that they felt that PDP was the proper party for the Igbo man which they came to realize lately was not true because they were disappointed. PDP was in power for 16 years and the Enugu-Onitsha road was not done, the Enugu-Port Harcourt road was not done, the second Niger Bridge was not done,” the APC chieftain said.

“When they realized this, they are now seeing that Buhari who has been in power for a little over one year has paid contractors and started doing something about the Enugu-Onitsha road, the Enugu-Port Harcourt road and has started doing something on the second Niger Bridge within one year.”

“Because of the high level of integrity displayed by President Buhari, many people are anxious to join the party. Therefore, a lot of people that have moved from other parties and entered APC have not had the opportunity of being registered and therefore the leadership felt it necessary that these people be registered so that they can be part of the party ahead of the next general election.”

The official said the party will adopt manual registration which will also capture the biometrics of every member.

Some top Igbo politicians who recently decamped to the APC include Jim Nwobodo and Orji Kalu former governors of Anambra and Abia state respectively.

Igbo Monarch dies in accident

Igwe Ezeugwu Ugwuoke of Agbamere clan in Eha-Alumona in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, died in auto crash on Tuesday.

Igbo Renaissance: Anambra to float Igbo radio station, mandate students to wear traditional attire.

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra on Tuesday said he would float a radio station that would broadcast its programmes in Igbo language.

He made this known during a public event organised by an Igbo cultural society known as “Otu suwakwa Igbo’’ headed by former Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Pita Ejioforon.

He added that henceforth, pupils in the state would wear Igbo traditional attire to school every Wednesday.

According to him, folklore will be taught to primary school children every Wednesday evening.

The governor said that the Igbo folklore he learnt while growing up had helped in shaping his behaviour and guided his relationship with other people till date.

“Igbo folklore is powerful in building morals and values. I can’t forget my late primary school teacher and the way he used Igbo folklore to teach us great lessons.

“Even as a governor, those stories about the tortoise and other animals still guide my life.”

He assured the Igbo cultural society that the state government would strengthen the law that would make it mandatory for all to communicate in Igbo language and wear traditional attire on Wednesdays.

Former National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Victor Umeh, described language and religion as the true identities of a people.

He said “we should not allow Igbo language to die as predicted. For me, I have Igbo odour and I smell Igbo; my red cap is my joy as an Igbo man.”

In her remarks, Stella Onuorah, the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism, appealed to the Igbo in the Diaspora to strive to teach their children the language and inculcate in them the cultural values.

Only Igbo can survive a divided Nigeria – Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has declared that in the event that the country is divided, only the Igbo nation can survive because of their resilience.

The Governor also boasted that there has been no politically motivated killing of anyone under his administration.

Fayose stated this yesterday when the Ndigbo Community in Ekiti conferred him with the traditional title of ‘Nwanne – De – Namba at the Olukayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti during the Igbo Cultural Day.

Fayose deployed those he called’ fake political leaders ‘ who are only accessible to the people when they are looking for votes only to buy bullet proof cars and erect artificial walls around themselves so that they would not be accessible to the people after the poll.

He said, “whatever anybody says, the Igbos are a unique people in the country. God forbid, if Nigeria should break, they are the only nation that can survive because they are industrious people.

” All the permanent structures found everywhere are owned by the Igbo people. Wherever you go in the country, you will find an igbo man there.

“No igbo man can vote for any other party in Ekiti State except the party I belong to because we are bonded with one another “, he said.

The Governor lamented that women have been relegated in the scheme of things adding that his administration would provide for them in
the 2017 budget of Ekiti State.

Earlier in his address, the President General of Ndigbo Community in South West, Chief Nathaniel Ezeonu said that the Igbo people in Ekiti State want to have their own market.

He added that the traders want to acquire an uncompleted market along poly road Ado Ekiti which the state government has pegged at N380 millions.

He pleaded with Governor Fayose to rescind the decision to shut down Fayose market believed to be populated by igbo traders selling phones and other accessories.

Ezeonu said that the the theme of the Cultural Day titled: Ndigbo and Socio-economic Reality in Nigeria, Which way Forward, was apt because the race have contributed more to the economic development of the country.

To mark the occasion, major shops owned by the Igbos in the state capital were under lock and key.

Those Present at the conferment of the traditional title on the Governor included the state Executives, local government Chairmen as well as traditional rulers in Ekiti and igbo land.

BBC to broadcast in Yoruba, Igbo, Pidgin, others.

The BBC World Service is set to broadcast in 11 new languages.

Among them are Yoruba, Igbo and Pidgin.

Others are Afaan Oromo and Amharic, spoken in Ethiopia; Tigrinya, the main language of Eritrea; Gujarati, Marathi and Telugu and Punjabi.

The World Service started out in 1932 as a radio channel for English-speakers in the British empire but has transformed over time into a respected provider of news to global audiences.

It already broadcasts in 29 languages, including Hausa, reaching an estimated 246 million people around the world every week.

The expansion is said to be as a result of a funding injection of 289 million until 2020 announced by the government last year.

According to the BBC Director General, Tony Hall, the move is historical and reinforces the importance of the organisation globally.

Hall said, “This is a historic day for the BBC, as we announce the biggest expansion of the World Service since the 1940s. The BBC World Service is a jewel in the crown – for the BBC and for Britain.”

Also, Director of the World Service, Fran Unsworth, the new funding from government would have no impact on the service’s independence.

She said, “Where the money comes from is irrelevant. The World Service is going to do what it’s always done – go over the heads of government providing a service directly to citizens of the world.”

Buhari policies are anti-Igbo – MASSOB

The Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has described the policies of President Muhammadu Buhari as anti-Igbos.

This was as the separatist movement claimed that its threat to organise an internal revolution against leaders of the South East zone forced some Igbo Senators to meet with the President recently.

In a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Innocent Igbo, on Monday, the secessionist group said the Senators ‘woke up’ to their responsibilities because they were afraid of internal revolution.

Describing the meeting as a welcome development, MASSOB said, “This sudden political move of Igbo Senators to President Buhari is a welcome development even though Buhari may not easily hearken to their pleas because of his anti-Igbo policies.

“As we acknowledge the Igbo Senators, MASSOB charges Igbo House of Representative members, traditional, religious and opinion leaders to start initiating positive steps towards addressing the menace faced by our people.”

Recall that Igbo Caucus in the Senate recently had a meeting with the President regarding issues of lopsided appointments and the continued incarceration of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

Release of killers of Igbo woman in Kano provocative – HURIWA

Branding it “a primitive attempt to stoke up inter-ethnic conflict”, the Pro-democracy Non-Governmental Organization, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, has condemned the Kano State Government for nullifying the prosecution of the suspected killers of Bridget Agbahime, the 74-year-old Igbo woman in Kano State.

The group’s position was made known in a statement made available to the media in Abuja by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, and the National Director of Media, Zainab Yusuf.

HURIWA also totally condemned the Nigeria Police Force, Kano State Command for colluding to bungle the prosecution of the suspected killers of Agbahime, who was killed in the presence of armed policemen by Islamic zealots for alleged blasphemy.

HURIWA said the “illogical, unconstitutional and compromised decision of the Kano State Attorney General to terminate the prosecution amounted to directly rewarding the riotous and unruly armed street urchins who allegedly decapitated this innocent Igbo woman only because she is of a different ethno-religious affiliation but doing legitimate trading business in Kano State”.

Citing Section 14(2) (b) of the Nigerian Constitution, which specifies that “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government”, the Rights group has therefore asked both the Governor of Kano State, Dr. Ibrahim Ganduje, and President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the Commissioner of Police in Kano State and the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpodum Idris, “to rapidly refile the matter in a proper court system so that the killers of this Nigerian citizen are charged and punished for the unprovoked murder of this innocent Igbo woman in Kano State”.

The Rights group warned that the refusal of government of Kano and the Nigerian State to punish the killers promptly could spark off inter-ethnic and inter-religious uprising and reprisals since the person murdered was a human being with blood flowing in her veins before her precious life was terminated by unchained brutes in Kano State who are now offered Kano State Government’s reward for this gruesome hate crime.

Besides, HURIWA has tasked the national leadership of both the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, to mount coordinated pressures to compel both the Kano State and Federal Government to stop this clear injustice about to be perpetrated against the family of the assassinated Agbahime who was murdered in broad daylight by armed Islamic fanatics on the streets of Kano State.

The statement said: “We are by this statement to the media challenging the political leaders of the South East and specifically the governor of Imo State Mr. Rochas Okorocha to wake up from slumber and seek for redress for the family of this Imo State woman killed in Kano State by street urchins in the full glare of the police.”

On Thursday, a Kano State Magistrate Court presided over by Jibrin Muhammad freed five suspected killers of Agbahime.

The 74-year-old trader was killed at Kofar Wambai Market for alleged blasphemy.

Muhammad’s decision was based on the directive of the Kano State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

The freed suspects – Dauda Ahmed, Abdulmumeen Mustafa, Zubairu Abubakar, Abdullahi Abubakar and Musa Abdullahi – were charged with a four-count charge of allegedly inciting disturbance, culpable homicide, joint act and mischief.

The woman, who hailed from Imo State, was murdered on June 2, 2016 at Kofar Wambai Market over alleged blasphemy.

In his submission earlier, the state counsel, Rabiu Yusuf, who represented the attorney-general of the state, told the court that they have no case against the suspects.

Yusuf said: “The legal advice presented to the court, dated June 24, states that there is no case to answer as the suspects are all innocent, and orders the court to discharge all the suspects.”

Igbo group offers scholarships to 100 orphans in Taraba

The Taraba State branch of the Igbo Welfare Association has awarded scholarships to 100 orphans studying in various secondary schools in the state.

The President-General of the association, Mazi Nwokeocha, made the announcement in Jalingo on Tuesday while disbursing money to beneficiaries.

Nwokeocha said the 100 beneficiaries were children of the association’s dead members.

The president-general said that each beneficiary received N15,000 as assistance to continue his/her education.

Nwokeocha said the gesture was initiated by the association in 2007 to give families of dead members a sense of belonging.

He advised Igbos residing in the state to live in peace with their host communities and to continue to be good ambassadors of the Igbo race.

One of the beneficiaries, Johnson Emeka, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, commended the association for the gesture.

Emeka promised that the beneficiaries would justify the gesture by being hard working.

Biafra is dead – Osita Okechukwu

The Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, has said the actualisation of the Republic of Biafra is no longer feasible.

He therefore requested ethnic Igbos to call the agitators to order, do a rethink and support President Muhammadu Buhari “in constructing a prosperous and progressive Nigeria”.

According to him, with the unwritten zoning convention for the rotation of political power in the country, the Igbo race in the South East zone would likely produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in 2023.

Mr. Okechukwu spoke on Wednesday in Abuja at a colloquium organized by the Federal Capital Territory Chapter of the Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo.

The leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, is currently facing treason charges over the group’s agitation for the actualization of the Republic of Biafra.

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, began the agitation some years ago.

The attempt to carve out Biafra Republic in Southern Nigeria led to 30 months civil war.

Mr. Okechukwu said the greatest indication that Biafra was impossible to actualise, was the successive national conferences in the country where the five Igbo states voted against regionalism.

“If we must tell ourselves the truth, the greatest obstacle to the actualisation of Biafra, was glaringly demonstrated by successive national conferences, the Abacha Conference and Jonathan Conference, in each of the two conferences the issue of region was voted against by Enugu and Ebonyi states,” he said.

“The Jonathan Conference of 2014, for instance was made up of pro-Biafra elements whom a lot had assumed will support regionalism as a prelude to secession. Other states like Ogun, Lagos, Bayelsa, Cross River and majority of Northern States rejected regionalism. To cap it all the Jonathan Conference recommended the creation of over 50 states.”

Mr. Okechukwu said Biafra agitators must sample the opinion of the people, both at home and abroad, especially the itinerant travelers if their agitation was for collective benefit.

He said, “One is sure that most Ndigbo will call for ceasefire, especially when we are aware that the zoning convention of rotation of president between North and South offers the South East the greatest opportunity of producing Nigeria president of Igbo extraction.”

“This golden opportunity will end the issue of marginalization, will gazette the true republican nature of Ndigbo and return us to the mainstream of Nigeria.

“The doubting Thomases will doubt this projection, but it is real and anchored on the truism that in the public domain is the law with its legal teeth and the convention with its moral weight, mostly unwritten. This thesis projects that in 2023 when President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, by God’s grace completes his two term tenure, it will be the turn of the South.

“At this juncture, Ndigbo relying on equity and justice will make a good case, persuade and lobby Nigerians, in particular our South West and South-South brothers and sisters to support us, since they both had served eight and five years respectively in this 4th Republic. For no one ethnic group can win the presidency of this great country alone.”

Mr. Okechukwu said the scenario he painted showed that if it was good for Nigeria, the Igbo ethnic nationality, which he described as the second largest in population after the original indigenes of Lagos, Kano, and 23 other states of the federation, would be one of the greatest beneficiaries.

He said, “The agitation for Biafra sounds as a good music, much fun and furry as if it is the only route to Eldorado. This is false as some of us who lived in the defunct Biafra enclave can narrate.

“The question one had always posed is can Biafra be achieved via democracy or by force? Most people one had discussed with had always told me it will be achieved via peaceful means, which in other words means democracy.”

The VON DG said he recalled while on the entourage of Mr. Buhari to the World Igbo Congress (WIC) in the United States in 2004, papers were presented to the effect that the United Nations (UN) was processing the application of Ndigbo for an independent Biafra.

“This is over a decade and the germane question remains at what stage is our application? Is their records in the UN which suites our case? If there is none, the option is home-made democratic process.

“As stated earlier only very few are advocating force, and unfortunately, visible obstacles seem to taint the acclaimed democratic process.”

Predicting that the Biafra agitators would disagree with his position on the issue, Mr. Okechukwu said at 61 years of age, it would be a disservice to his ancestors, Ndigbo and Nigeria for him not to say the truth.

He said, “The agitators will vehemently disagree with me, call for my head and even query the existence of obstacles to the actualisation of Biafra under democracy or force.

“However, at 61 years on earth it will be a great disservice to our ancestors, Ndigbo and my dear countrymen, for me to swim in muddled waters and stand truth on its head, because one wants to be hailed and idolized.

“China and India with over one billion people each have shown that our large population is not a disadvantage and United States of America has shown that our diversity is not a disadvantage. What are we talking about?”

Governor Amosun Appoints Igbo Permanent Secretary.

In a rare effort at integration, Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has appointed two ‘non-indigenes’ as permanent secretaries in the Civil Service of the state. One of them, Ndimele Emmanuel Ofor is Igbo from Abia State, while the other one is Ipinniwa Steve Olusegun from Kogi State.

In a society where minor disagreements between people are viewed through ethnic prism, Mr Amosun’s show of faith in non-indigenes to occupy such high offices is worthy of special notice. It may have even come to the beneficiaries themselves as a surprise.

Speaking at the occasion, the governor said, “I believe that if someone has been serving in a place for 20, 30 years he can no longer be called a non-indigene. He has been with us and he has worked with us. He is now part of us. He cannot be called a non-indigene, and in any event, it will be unfair and unjust to deprive someone who worked for you his deserved elevation on account of where he comes from.”

Mr Ofor and Olusegun were among the 14 new Permanent Secretaries sworn in by Amosun at the State Executive Council Chambers, Governor’s office, Oke-mosan, Abeokuta. In his speech, the governor added that, “As for me, hard work rather than where you come from should be the basis for promotion.”

He noted that “This is the first time we are having non- indigenes as permanent secretaries in the state and they are part and parcel of us, irrespective of where they are from, we’ll honour them because they have proven themselves to be hard working

IPOB: Buhari Should Dialogue With Nnamdi Kanu – Ohanaeze Youths

OHANAEZE Youths Council has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately begin direct negotiation with the detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB], Mazi Nnamdi Kanu with a view to releasing him.
Kanu is facing treasonable charges in an Abuja High Court and is being detained at the Kuje Prisons. Ohanaeze Youths Council urged the president to use the opportunity of the reported on-going negotiation between some Niger Delta groups and a representative of the Federal Government and talk with Kanu to free him. Kanu himself had last week through his lawyers said that he was open for dialogue with the government for a political resolution of the matter.
According to the National President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Federal Government should not allow this window of peace talk to pass it by. “This is a much-awaited opportunity which should be utilized to end the bitterness against the Federal Government by people of the South-East. “We call on President Muhammadu Buhari not to allow this golden opportunity slip off his hands. “It is our firm belief that Buhari will engrave his name as a hero of democracy if he utilized this opportunity to free Nnamdi Kanu,” Ohaneze Youths said. Isiguzoro, however, suggested that Kanu himself should be allowed to lead such a negotiation. “For the dialogue to be genuine and fruitful, Kanu should lead the IPOB delegation.
Nobody or group should negotiate on his behalf; this is to avoid a situation where the government will end up wasting time and resources. “If the government succeeds in this regard, it would no doubt endear it to Ndigbo and help in healing so many wounds.” Kanu’s lawyers advised to seek approval first Meantime, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, yesterday, charged lawyers to the detained Director of Radio Biafra,Nnamdi Kanu, to seek approval from him first before dabbling into any negotiation for his release with the Federal Government.
MASSOB said it aligned with Kanu’s stance that, ”he’d rather die, than jettison the struggle for Biafra” after the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, had given the Federal Government, last week, conditions to end agitations in the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones, wherein MEND, urged Kanu to renounce Biafra to regain his freedom. Kanu, who was arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS, upon arrival from the United Kingdom, has been in detention since October 14, last year, for alleged treasonable felony.
But frowning at the remarks from Kanu’s lawyers, Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Amobi Nzelu, indicating that their client was not aversed to negotiations for his release, MASSOB leader, Uchenna Madu, in a statement to newsmen in Enugu, stated that, ”MASSOB supports the position of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as the leader of IPOB. “Approval for negotiation must be obtained first. MASSOB as a sister organization will always support every positive move that will effect the release of our Comrade, Nnamdi Kanu.
We will not accept any confusing steps which some groups even the defense counsels are making. “IPOB has quickly condemned the position of Kanu’s lawyers. We will never relent or succumb on the agitation for Biafra. We shall continue to forge ahead with the spirit of consistency and commitment in accord with other pro-Biafra groups. Nigeria should be tired and ashamed of Kanu’s continued detention”.
IPOB names released members In another development, IPOB, has reeled out names of their members who were granted bail at Umuahia Chief Magistrate’s Court last week, on the orders of the Federal Government, through the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF.
Among those granted bail, according to a statement signed by Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, are John Onyebuchi ‘M’ aged 52; Joseph Okorie ‘M’ aged 25; Ikechukwu Obi ‘M’ aged 35; Ifeanyi Okike ‘M’ aged 65; Ani Chimezie ‘M’ aged 62; Emeka Ezeugo ‘M’ aged 30 and Chibuzo Okpara ‘F’ aged 40?. “Others are Donatus Okeke ‘M’ aged 36; Okechukwu Nnebennum ‘M’ aged 34; Jude Aniche ‘M’ aged 48; Amos Nkemjika Ezekiel ‘M’ aged 43; Ngozi Onuora ‘F’ aged 30; Goodness Emeka ‘F’ aged 25; Nene Ekwueme ‘F’ aged 52; Amarachi Chukwu ‘F’ aged 22; Oluchukwu Bekee ‘F’ aged 48; Igwechukwu Ebuka ‘M’ aged 26; Okwudili Okafor ‘M’ aged 35; Nnadike Obasi ‘M’ aged 29 and Monday Ibejii ‘M’ aged 25.”
In the statement, Powerful noted that of these 20 detainees, 19 were released by the Umuahia Chief Magistrate Court on Thursday, August 11, while one of them was released before now with the efforts made by his family members, adding that they had all been given at the weekend. It would be recalled that the federal government, through the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF had ordered the court to release the detained IPOB members who were arrested inside Aba High School, on February 9, this year during their prayer rally and charged to court.

PDP Against Igbo Presidency– APC Group

The Buhari South East Youth Movement [BSEYM] has accused the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] of working against the emergence of President of Igbo extraction. According to the group, by its recent zoning, PDP has automatically ruled out the possibility an Igbo man becoming the President of Nigeria, saying that singular act has shown that the party does not regard Ndigbo.

BSEYM, in a statement therefore called on Ndigbo, especially the youths and women, to reject PDP, which it alleged “has greatly improvised the zone in their 16 years of misrule”.

The group urged South members of the party to withdraw their membership of the party in totality, claiming that the party has nothing good for them. In the statement jointly signed by BSEYM’s director-general Engr. Nwabueze Onwuneme and the publicity secretary, Comrade Igwe Samuel Obinna, it said PDP’s zoning of the Presidency to the North ahead of 2019 “goes to show the disdain the PDP has for the people of the zone”.

The statement further said that the zoning “seriously goes against the spirit of justice, fairness and equity in the rotation of power between the North and South”. According to the group, “peradventure the PDP succeeds, it will extend the Igbo Presidency project to year 2027 from the earlier year 2023 been projected for the emergence of a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction, which would now leave the North there for twelve years as against eight years been projected by the APC”.

Urging Ndigbo to reject PDP, the group noted that “by the end of President Muhammad Buhari’s second tenure it will then be ripe for the Igbos as the only ethnic nationality in southern Nigeria yet to produce an elected President after both the South-west and south-south have all had their shots on the Presidency of the nation”.

Biafra Is Ijaw, Not Igbo- Asari-Dokubo

Leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Front, NDPVF, Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo has said that contrary to the perception in most quarters that the name Biafra which was adopted by the then breakaway Eastern region is Igbo, the phrase is Ijaw.

He also noted it was an Ijaw man, who suggested the name at a meeting convened by the late leader of the defunct Republic of Biafra, Chief Chukwuemeka Ojukwu to decide on the way forward for the Eastern region after the 1966/1967 pogrom. Dokubo, who said this in a statement stated that the late Niger Delta activist, Maj. Isaac Adaka Boro affirmed that Ijaw is Biafra in chapter six of his autobiography entitled: Twelve Day Revolution. He further said that the ties between Igbo and Ijaw ethnic groups are inseparable, adding that It was another Ijaw Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson, who first played the Biafran national anthem during the proclamation of independence on May 30, 1967. His words: “Ignorance can be a terrible disease but it is curable if the sufferer is ready to humble himself to learn and accept the cure for his sickness. Biafra is a Kalabari Ijaw phrase Bia

Biafra: Igbo On Legitimate Struggle, Says Yerima

Amidst a renewed agitation by pro-Biafra protesters across the South east and South south parts of the country with the subsequent clamp down on them by the Federal Government, a former governor of Zamfara State, Ahmad Sani Yerima, has said that the Biafra agitators were on a legitimate struggle for self determination.

The former governor, now a Senator, told newsmen that consequently, the federal government and the security agencies must allow them to exercise their fundamental human rights as guaranteed by the Constitution.

Yerima, a politician known for his radical views on national issues, cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigeria Armed Forces against the use of force on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Survival of the Sovereign State of Biafra ( MASSOB), saying the groups were on a legitimate struggle for self-determination and should be allowed to exercise their fundamental rights.

He disagreed with President Buhari and the top echelon of the Nigeria Armed Forces on the handling of the renewed agitation by the groups to revive the defunct Republic of Biafra saying they should be more matured and accommodating in a democracy.

Gabonese President Ali Bongo Allegedly Found To Be Igbo, Adopted From Nigeria During Biafra War

Indications have emerged that the President of Gabon, Ali Bongo Ondimba is a Nigerian of the ethnic Igbo stock. It is said that he was adopted during the Biafran war by his father, Omar Bongo who handed over to him as President.

This development may soon be confirmed as a court in western France on Thursday allowed a family member of Omar Bongo to view the birth certificate of Ali Bongo following accusations that he lied about his country of origin.

The Gabonese constitution demands that one must be born Gabonese to serve as the head of state, but French investigative journalist, Pierre Pean alleged in a recent book that the President was actually a Nigerian and was adopted during the Biafran war in the late 1960s.

The court in Nantes allowed 25-year-old Onaida Maisha Bongo Ondimba, a daughter of former president Omar Bongo, to view the documents in full, which her lawyer, Eric Moutet hailed the decision as “enormous”, though “diplomatically complex”.

Ali Bongo is the only one of ex-president Omar Bongo’s 54 declared heirs not to have produced the identification documents. He claims he was born in Brazzaville in 1959, former capital of French Equatorial Africa.

The Nantes civil registration centre is responsible for all birth certificates of people born in French Equatorial Africa up to 1960, when the former colonial countries in the region gained independence to become Gabon, Congo, Chad and the Central African Republic.

“My Desire Is To Unite South-East Governors” – Rochas Okorocha

Governor of Imo State and the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governors’ Forum, Chief Rochas Okorocha, says his ultimate desire is to unite the governors and leaders of the South East to work with the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.

Rochas Okorocha

Chief  Okorocha made his feelings known, yesterday, while addressing newsmen at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, SMICA, Owerri, on his arrival from Abuja.

“As the only APC governor in the South East, I cannot do it alone and I cannot also play the attendant politics of establishing a very strong relationship between the South East governors and the APC-led Federal Government alone.  Hence, every governor and leader in the South East must be carried along in the whole thing,” Okorocha said.

Answering a question, the governor also explained that while in Abuja, the South East governors were able to meet with Mr. President, adding that it was more than even reassuring that the South East people would work totally with the present administration at the federal level.

“We, the governors of the South East and indeed, the leaders from the area, are all determined to work with the President and the President himself is also more determined to work with the South East,” Okorocha said.

It was his considered opinion that all the imaginary worries about what comes to the South East is not absolutely necessary now, adding that the governors had been able to establish a very cordial relationship with Mr. President.

“We have been assured that the South East would not be left out of the whole political and economic equations of Nigeria,” Okorocha said

Pastor Tunde Bakare Saw An Igbo Giant Pursuing Him In Dream, Explains Why He Collapsed Recently

Pastor Tunde Bakare Explains His Collapse And His Dream Of A Giant
In a YouTube video reviewed by SaharaReporters of this past Sunday’s sermon, Pastor Bakare added that “the cause was exhaustion: too much work, too much people’s pressure.”

Pastor Bakare Explains What Happened to Him, Says He Supernaturally Escaped Death
Pastor Tunde Bakare offered the first details after his May 18th collapse while on the stage of his Latter Rain Assembly church.

Pastor Bakare told members of his church this past Sunday that “I was discharged on Wednesday with a clean bill of health.”

In a YouTube video reviewed by SaharaReporters of this past Sunday’s sermon, Pastor Bakare added that “the cause was exhaustion: too much work, too much people’s pressure.”

He also said that, “That I had not been taking enough water. So I am on compulsory medication of two liters of water per day.”

Pastor Bakare explained that his exhaustion was caused in part because of his travels between Lagos, Abuja, London, and Atlanta, US. He also stated that he ignored the warning signs in the days leading to his collapse.

Pastor Bakare also recalled premonition he had during a dream. He described that a humungous giant in Igbo clothing chased and mocked him.

He said one “afternoon I had a dream. It was an unusual dream. I saw a ring on my little finger. I don’t wear two rings, I only wear one. I looked up and coming from my left side was an unusual giant I’d never seen before. It was unusually humongous and wore an Igbo attire. It was a giant and it was coming towards me. All that I knew to do was raise the ring up. As soon as I raise it it laughed and went on. I returned.”

Pastor Bakare was not able to explain many more details of what the giant could mean or why it wore Igbo attire.

Igbos In Lagos Present 7-Point Demand To Ambode

Indigenes of the South-east geo-political zone resident in Lagos State, under the aegis of Igbo Progressive Leaders Council, IPLC, yesterday, presented a seven-point demand to the state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

The association particularly demanded an inclusive government. This was disclosed yesterday in Lagos by the Publicity Secretary of IPLC, Dr. Harris Chuma, at a thanksgiving convened by the association.

The group, led by the Publicity Secretary of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, called for continuous cordial relationship between Ndigbo and the state government.

Harris said: “Some of the issues are that the newly inaugurated Lagos State government will continue to ensure the safety of lives and property of all Lagosians, including Ndigbo. That the government will continue to partner Ndigbo in moving the state forward such that Igbo in the state will continue to have a place in the government and civil service.

“That the Lagos State Government will continue to support and maintain profound relationship with the Igbo traditional institution in the state. We propose the establishment of a board that will recognise the Lagos Igbo honorary chieftaincy affairs.”

“The body also asked for sustained improvement of the road network in the state, ensuring that Igbo people get equal treatment as their Yoruba counterparts, compensation for victims of fire disaster in the various markets and an end to the harassment, intimidation and extortion of Igbo by unscrupulous government officials.

“We wish that the newly inaugurated government will not take our people for granted and they will not treat us with impunity or claim that they know what is best for Ndigbo when we do not feel the same way and that the Governor Ambode-led government will listen to the sincere voices of their passionate Igbo followers.’’

Why Ndigbo May Remain Politically Irrelevant By Uche Igwe

I took advantage of the break caused by the postponement of the elections to visit a few places in the South-East and South-South zones and directly gauge the perception of the people about the current political developments in the country. The first place was my village in Mbaise, then my mother’s village, both in Imo State. After going to my state, I joined one of my close friends to pay a courtesy visit to one of the riverine villages near Yenagoa in Bayelsa State. Interestingly, some grass-roots politicians showed up during both visits and I took the liberty of the two visits to discuss Nigerian politics with both sets of people – my kinsmen and the kinsmen of President Goodluck Jonathan. During my discussions, it was obvious that President Jonathan has more supporters in Imo and other Igbo-speaking states than even in his home state, Bayelsa. Surprised?

Let me state two things upfront. The first is that contrary to the views expressed in some quarters, I do not dislike President Jonathan, at least not his person. My concern is about his style of politics and governance and his performance as President and how these two factors affect me and my generation. As a southerner and an academic, I should connect with him. If he performs brilliantly as President, I will share in his success and such performance will brighten my chances and those of other members of my generation to one day decide to lead our country. The same way today I am sharing in his mistakes. So, the stakes before us are clearly beyond whatever thing I feel about his person.

The second is that if I am given an opportunity to nominate who will become the President of Nigeria under normal circumstances, my first choice will not be General Muhammadu Buhari. I am just 40 and so you can begin to guess why. However, in the circumstances that we have found ourselves as a nation, Buhari is potentially a better choice than Jonathan. It is very obvious that our President has run out of ideas. The country is deeply divided and the citizens are so highly disillusioned such that it will only take a trigger for the country to go up in flames. The current insecurity, unemployment, poverty and economic uncertainty in the country have reached frightening dimensions in our villages.

But do we blame all of these on Jonathan? Definitely no. Does he have a large chunk of the blame as our leader at this time? Of course, yes. The incestuous levels of corruption and blatant looting going on under Jonathan are part of the reasons that have led to widespread disenchantment and loss of confidence among the citizenry. Does my support for Buhari mean that he will do any magic? No. These things will take time to fix but we need another style. There is hardly any new approach the current President can bring on the table after trying for almost six years. Change has become long overdue. It will have a psychological soothing on Nigeria and Nigerians.

Now back to my main subject. My discussions revealed that unlike me, many people from my village neither support Buhari nor the All Progressives Congress. I could not but ask the following questions: What is the Igbo agenda in the current political dispensation? Who are those articulating it? What is their reason for the fixation with the status quo? Why are Ndigbo reluctant to engage the wind of change currently blowing in the country? Many of the people masquerading as Igbo leaders are individuals of questionable character preoccupied with only pecuniary objectives. In my village for instance, a school drop-out is now in charge. He feeds the kinsmen with falsehood and takes regular advantage of their ignorance to enrich himself.

While in the village, one of my uncles called me and abused me thoroughly for expressing views that he termed “anti-Igbo.” Which Igbo was he referring to? It is obvious that he is still fixated about the civil war and the roles of some northerners in it. I was shocked that more than 45 years after the civil war, many people are still passionately talking about it. True, it is an important part of our national history but is it not time to move on? Could it be the main reason to like or hate Buhari and the northerners? So, what about Olusegun Obasanjo? What about the Ijaw who took over our abandoned properties in Port Harcourt? To my mind, and the minds of many young Igbo men, the Ijaw, who colluded with other majority tribes and benefitted mostly in the acquisition of properties and wealth in Port Harcourt from a tribe lying helplessly prostrate from a civil war, committed greater atrocity towards the Igbo. The Yoruba recently came out to declare that they would not waste their votes for anyone without demanding something in return. Have the Igbo made any similar declaration? What are they getting from Jonathan and his kinsmen in return for Ndigbo support in 2015? Will the Ijaw presidency (no matter how hard we try, this is what our brothers in the Niger Delta have reduced the Presidency to) guarantee a national redress on the injustices of the civil war and the abandoned property saga? Will President Jonathan, as an Ijaw, who majorly orchestrated and benefitted from the abandoned property saga compensate the Igbo the same way he has guaranteed amnesty to the Niger Delta militants? Have Ndigbo asked for all of these, especially, since a continued support for the South-South, if it spirals out of country, may be jeopardising Ndigbo’s fresh investments in wealth acquisition in places like Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Maiduguri, Jos, Bauchi, Zaria, Ibadan, Lagos, Abeokuta and Lokoja just to mention but a few. You will recall that Ndigbo subconsciously redirected their business investments to these new territories as a result of the sense of insecurity following the abandoned property saga. Will they now jeopardise all of these new investments and wealth accumulation in support of the kinsman of the same tribe that stripped them of their old wealth?

Chisara.

Hello everyone!

Today’s post is dedicated to my very beautiful Nigerian and German friend, Chisara.

I did a photoshoot with her and a few others on Friday and I am extremely pleased with the results. I think these pictures are some of my best. I’m not sure whether it’s because I’ve been practicing a lot or whether the weather worked in my favour, as it was sunny on that day, which is something we don’t see very often in London.

I hope you love the pictures as much as I do.

I have a few more pictures from the photoshoot that I haven’t edited yet, as I have been very busy with school work. But I’ll edit them during the week and you can check for them on my Facebook page or my website.
