Chinese Man Executed 21 Years Ago Found Innocent

More than two decades after her son was executed for rape and murder, Zhang Huanzhi has finally proven his innocence.

China’s top court overturned Nie Shubin’s conviction Friday, in a landmark case that exposed deep flaws in China’s criminal justice system.
“I wanted to tell my son: you’re a good person, you’re innocent,” Zhang told CNN.
Amid emotional scenes in the courtroom, judges ruled that Nie’s original trial didn’t “obtain enough objective evidence,” saying there were serious doubts about the time of death, murder weapon and cause of death.
“The moment the justice announced the verdict, Zhang burst into tears,” lawyer Li Shuting said. “Not only her, other people in the courtroom felt emotional too. I almost stood up and applauded but I didn’t, I had to comfort Zhang as she was crying so hard.”

Abandoned Nine Month Old Baby Found Crawling On Lagos Road

Residents of Shodipo Crescent in the Ikeja Government Reserved Area of Lagos State were shocked on Wednesday to find an abandoned baby boy crawling on the road.

It was learnt that the nine-month-old baby, whose name had yet to be ascertained, was seen crawling by residents, who quickly alerted some policemen on patrol in the area.

It was gathered that the child was picked up by the policemen and brought to the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja.

The baby was thereafter taken for a checkup.

It was gathered that the nine-month-old was believed to have crawled out of his parents’ apartment, although no resident in the area had showed up for the baby boy.

A police source said that the child would remain in the police custody until his family showed up with concrete proofs of relationship.

She said, “We found the boy on Shodipo Crescent in the Ikeja GRA. He is about nine months old. He was found crawling on the road. Some residents thereafter alerted some policemen on patrol.

“The police team rescued the baby. So far, nobody has come up to claim the baby. He must have left the custody of his parents or guardian and that is how some children fall into the hands of kidnappers and ritual killers. He is still with us at the command headquarters.”

Shallow Graves Found In Lagos Pastor’s Home

The police in Lagos yesterday claimed that shallow graves were discovered at the residence of 70-year-old Prophet Emmanuel Adeyemi arrested for chaining his son and 27 others.

Police Commissioner Fatai Owoseni who confirmed the allegation said the place was raided following a tip-off that the suspect traded human parts to ritualists.

He claimed that Adeyemi who was arrested alongside his first wife on Friday, buried some dead persons in the swamps and three others at his residence.

Owoseni said: “We got a tip-off that they were people he buried in that compound and he confirmed it during interrogation.

“Because the area is swampy, the suspect had allegedly buried some people in the swamp and about three others in the house.

“When we asked him of their identities he said it was some of his patients that were brought to his home from the hospital, after they were given up for dead, who finally died in his care and were buried in the swamp.

“When we also queried him on the claims that he used the body parts of the deceased to sell to ritualists, he swore that he was only a traditional healer and not a human parts seller.”

Owoseni said Adeyemi was earlier invited for questioning after it was discovered that he put his son in chains.

The Commissioner said the suspect claimed he chained the teenager, Toba Adedoyin Adeyemi in order to cure him from stealing.

He said: “When we got information that a teenager was locked up in a house, the area G Commander invited the suspect, who claimed that his son was known for stealing and so he locked him up in chains to cure him of stealing.

“While we were still on that case, we got another credible tip off that there were other people chained up in that same house. Of course, we carried out a raid and confirmed the allegation to be true.

“But before then, we had contacted the Lagos State Government because we don’t have the facility to keep the rescued persons. His claims now that he was arrested is  that he is a herbalist, but why didn’t he tell us that when we first invited him to the station over locking up his stepson? He only told us that he wanted to cure his son of stealing.”

It was gathered that one of the victims who was feeble and had sores was currently on admission at a hospital, while the others were moved to the state rehabilitation centre.

Pieces Of Missing EgyptAir Plane Found, Investigators Say

Pieces of the cabin from the missing EgyptAir plane which crashed into the Mediterranean last month have been found, Egyptian investigators said Wednesday.

A French vessel taking part in the search discovered pieces of fuselage at “several sites”, the Egyptian board of inquiry said in a statement.

The Airbus A320 which had been en route from Paris to Cairo disappeared on May 19, with the loss of all 66 people on board.
[add]
The “John Lethbridge” research boat, which made the find, arrived in Egypt last week to begin searching the Mediterranean for the wreckage with an underwater robot.

The discovery comes after investigators warned on Monday that signals from the plane’s black boxes would stop operating by the end of the month.

The area of sea where it crashed is believed to be about 3,000 metres (10,000 feet) deep and its flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder should have had enough battery power to emit signals for four to five weeks.

Investigators have said it is too soon to determine what caused the disaster although a terror attack has not been ruled out.

France’s aviation safety agency has said the aircraft transmitted automated messages indicating smoke in the cabin and a fault in the flight control unit minutes before disappearing from radar screens.

Investigators were able to narrow down the search site thanks to an emergency signal sent via satellite by the plane’s locator transmitter when it hit the Mediterranean.

The signals were picked up by French survey ship Laplace which uses acoustic detection systems to listen for the “pings” emitted by the flight recorders, France’s aviation safety agency BEA said.

The passengers were 30 Egyptians, 15 French citizens, two Iraqis, two Canadians, and citizens from Algeria, Belgium, Britain, Chad, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and Sudan. They included a boy and two babies.

Seven crew and three security personnel were also on board.

The crash comes after the bombing of a Russian airliner over Egypt’s restive Sinai Peninsula last October that killed all 224 people on board.

The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for that attack within hours, but there has been no such claim linked to the EgyptAir crash.

Four Missing Kids Found Dead Inside Car In Kano

Four kids have died of suffocation in a suburb of Kano State after they were found trapped inside a parked vehicle. The tragedy, which had shaken the state, happened at the weekend.

A Deputy Director in the state Fire Service, who was part of the rescue team, said that the kids were found unconscious inside the vehicle, which was parked in Geidam area, but died later after they were rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for attention

He said the four of them, all boys, had been missing from the respective homes since the morning of the fateful day but were eventually found trapped inside the parked vehicle at about 5.00pm.

Witnesses said the temperature, which had been very high in the state capital in the last few weeks, contributed to the suffocation of the kids.

Police spokesman in the state, DSP Magaji Musa Majiya, said that the owner of the vehicle reported the matter to the police. According to him, the vehicle was parked by its owner after it developed a battery fault, saying the owner returned later in the day to fix the battery only to find the kids trapped inside his car. It is believed that the four victims, who were aged between three and five, might have entered the parked vehicle but were unable to open the vehicle due to their age.

The police, however, said they were investigating the incident.

Chibok Girls Will Be Found Soon- Shettima

The governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima disclosed Tuesday that the 276 Chibok girls who were abducted on April 14th 2014 will soon be united with their families.

Shettima disclosed this during a visit to the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA in Abuja, stating that  based on the information at his disposal the Chibok girls are still alive.

He said, “I am an optimist, and based on the information at our disposal the Chibok girls are still alive and will be united with their families soon, we are hopeful that the girls will be recovered.

He said, “Though security falls within the area of responsibility of the federal government, the government is doing all it can not only to rescue the girls but to care for the well-being of the generality of the people. We have started rebuilding most of the communities; we are determined to rebuild all.

“The military has been doing so much in the past week, which led to the influx of IDPs to our camps, presently because of the successes by the military we have over 75000 IDPs in Zifar, 28,000 in Bama, 38000 in Banki town, 27000 in Polka, right now there is an inflow of 2,300 people to Gusa today which necessitated the visit to NEMA to solicit for the usual assistance.

“As a state government we are doing our best, but NEMA has been our partner in taking care of the IDPs for the past one to two years. Within the Maiduguri metropolis alone, apart from the IDPs in the camps we have 1.7million people within the host communities. Even in the best of times our people were the poorest of the poor, and Boko Haram has further compounded the problem.

“Our visit is to solicit NEMA support towards the current government; we need the support of NEMA in whatever way they can assist. Though we have reached out to so many organizations, but this is where the real support lies. Borno is free now, though there are hiccups here and there, but not like before again. I am not saying they are completely liberated. Peace is gradually returning to the state. By the end of the year the people will return to their homes.

The Director General of NEMA, Muhammed Sani Sidi assured the governor of NEMA assistance at all times and promise to immediately move to assist in the influx of IDPs in the state.

How 3 Children Found Abducted Colonel’s Body

Three children went to pluck cashew from a bush opposite Ajyaita Village in Kakau District of Chikun LGA of Kaduna State on Tuesday, but ran into a very unlikely sight-a corpse, which was later identified as that of the abducted military officer.

Ajyaita village is about 10 kilometres from Kaduna city centre, and lies along the Eastern By-pass which links the Abuja-Kaduna express way to the southern part of the state.

The children had set out for the forest opposite the village on Tuesday morning and met the decomposing body by a narrow footpath leading to the forest.
Some elders said that the children then ran back home to reveal the unpleasant information to a farmer who they earlier met  on their way to the forest. The man was planting yam seedlings at a farm. After hearing the children’s story, he rushed to the spot to confirm it, and he in turn, ran to inform the village head.

The village head informed the police authorities who deployed some policemen to accompany him to the spot. The police then called the army authorities who came to  inspect the corpse. Therein came the painful confirmation-it was the body of Colonel Samaila Inusa, who was kidnapped a few days earlier.

“The military came with photographs and confirmed that he was the one. There was no identity card found on him, but the military identified him as the missing colonel. The place he was found is a bush path that is accessible by a car. The bush is also close to a village called Kefinary,” an elder said.

Residents of Ajyaita refused to take our correspondents to the place, saying the place had been cordoned off by soldiers who asked people to stay away for now.
Daily Trust noticed some heavily armed policemen patrolling the area while villagers were busy with their work without any noticeable tension.

The colonel was buried yesterday at the Ribadu Cantonment, Old Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) site in Kaduna according to Islamic rites. Draped in the national colours of green-white-green, the body arrived the old NDA cemetery around11.45am from the  44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna and was interred  at  noon after prayers at the NDA Juma’at mosque.

Father Found Guilty of Killing 3-Month-Old Son for Life Insurance Money

Moussa Sissoko was 22 when he killed his 3-month-old son Shane in 2001. A Montgomery County judge found him guilty of child abuse and murder this week, the Washington Post reports.

Sissoko met Tiffany Paris, Shane’s mom, in 1999 while she was still in high school. When she found out she was pregnant in 2000, he was at college in Florida and asked her to terminate the pregnancy. She did not, and he eventually moved in with her to help raise Shane. According to court records, it was around Shane’s birth that Sissoko got a job at a lock and security company and began pursuing $750,000 life insurance for Shane. He put himself as the sole beneficiary on the policy.

“Any reasonable person is going to ask: ‘Why would you put a $750,000 policy on a newborn infant?'” Judge Michael Mason who ruled alone on the trial asked in court. “It seems to make no sense, just on its face.” Sissoko claimed it was a form of a college savings plan for Shane.

On Sept. 15, 2001, Sissoko was watching Shane while Paris was at work. Two hours after he put the baby to bed, he called 911 because Shane was unresponsive and bleeding from his nose. According to Yahoo! News, Shane was taken to a hospital immediately, but never regained consciousness and was on a ventilator for 10 days before it was removed and he died. “Abusive head trauma … by either shaking and/or causing soft impact trauma to the child,” was determined to be the cause of death.

Sissoko has been in jail since he was originally convicted for his son’s death in 2002. He then appealed, lost, and claimed he’d had ineffective lawyering. He will remain in jail while he waits for a sentence on this re-trial.

Ex-President Jonathan’s Relative, Abducted With Uncle, Found Dead

Fishermen in Otuoke, Bayelsa State, on Friday recovered the body of a cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was abducted alongside the former leader’s uncle, Chief Inegite Jonathan, witnesses said.

Relatives said the body of Samuel Oki, 35, was found floating on Otuoke river, two days after the abduction.

The police spokesperson for Bayelsa State, Asini Butswat, said he was aware of the report, but could not immediately confirm its details. He said he was working to receive briefings from the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area.

Armed gunmen had on Wednesday abducted 72-year-old Chief Inegite Jonathan, President Jonathan’s uncle and foster father, but the kidnap of Mr. Oki was not immediately noticed until several hours later.

Fishermen in Otuoke community on Friday discovered his decomposing body, raising fears about the safety of the former president’s 72-year-old uncle, whose whereabout was still unknown by Friday afternoon.

A family member of the deceased, Igbogamini Paul, said both men were kidnapped on Wednesday.

Mr. Paul said they believe that a gunshot they heard during the abduction was targeted at Mr. Oki.

He expressed sadness over the incident.

Villagers said local fishermen recovered the body and anchored it by the riverside to prevent the body from being carried away by water currents.

The body had been deposited at a morgue in the area.

See The Pregnant Poisonous Snake This Woman Found Under Her Fridge

An Adelaide woman in Australia found a deadly snake peering out from under hers.

What’s more, it later emerged that the venomous eastern brown snake was also heavily pregnant.

The eastern brown snake is responsible for one or two deaths a year in Australia, making it the deadliest snake in the country.

The hapless fridge-owner called Snake Catchers Adelaide to deal with the situation. Snake catcher Rolly Burrell breezed in and removed the expectant mother by moving the fridge and grabbing it.

“I’ve been doing it for 40 years and I make it look easy,” he said. “When you’re doing 300 snakes a month you tend to get a little bit blasé.”

He added: “It’s lucky she saw the snake now or she might have been going to the fridge to get a drink later on and seen all these little critters all over the place.”

After it was rescued, the snake laid 15 eggs, and was given some mice, water and a rest to build up her strength before being released.

DISGUSTING! See What This Woman Found In Her Salad

A nurse who was about to tuck into a fresh carrot and sweetcorn salad from Asda was disgusted to find body parts belonging to a WEASEL mixed in it.

Rifat Asghar had already taken a few bites of her lunch when a colleague pointed out a furry lump sticking out.

As Rifat had a rifle through she found a leg and a tail – as well as what looked like an EYE.

The sickened 42-year-old took the lunch straight back to the supermarket in Bradford, Yorkshire, where she was offered a £5 refund.

An investigation later revealed the ‘foreign object’ was in fact a baby weasel and staff offered Rifat £100 in vouchers – which she turned down.

An email from a team leader at the store said: “The specimen was very badly damaged, showing some skin, fur, a leg joint, a foot and tail.

“It was concluded that the complaint specimen was most likely the remains of a young member of the species Mustela nivalis, the weasel.”

Bosses claim the furry animal must have been picked up in a field during harvesting – and passed through the entire factory without being spotted.

But Rifat said she has been left traumatised by the experience and now has to spend extra time and money preparing her food.

She said: “It has caused me a lot of trauma. I initially thought it was a mouse, and for about a week afterwards I had weird dreams about mice coming out my mouth.

“They say it was in there from when it was harvested. What happened to all the checks done after that happened?

“If something like that can go through all their processes and checks it worries me.

“I has completely changed the way I shop now and I can’t buy any prepared food any more. I’m having to make it all myself. It was so traumatising.”

A spokeswoman for Asda apologise to Rifat, adding: “We would like to reassure our customers that we have strict quality control measures in place for our fresh produce, and since this incident arose in November last year, we have worked with our suppliers and growers to assess these measures and to understand how this could have happened.

“We have also apologised directly and offered a gesture of goodwill to both Ms Asghar as well as as well as her colleague, who originally purchased the product.”

7 Signs You Have Found Your Soul Mate

1. You’re comfortable being vulnerable

Opening up to someone new can be terrifying. If you find yourself opening up easily and sharing secrets you’ve never told anyone else, it’s a good sign you are connecting on a deeper level. When you can easily share all of your shame, fears, desires, and fantasies, you’ve met your match.

 2. You have a strong attraction

We’re not just talking about physical attraction but also emotional attraction. Sure, you may want to ravish each other, but you also feel an emotional connection. It’s as if when you’re together, you melt into each other. It’s a meeting of the mind, body, and soul.

3. Your chemistry is off the charts

Beyond being strongly attracted to each other, you have an amazing chemistry that can be felt and seen. When you’re alone together, the atmosphere is so charged with desire, you can barely stand it.

“When you have chemistry with someone, you just feel it…chemistry represents the emotional connection present when you’re with each other. Two people who have a high degree of chemistry have emotional makeups and personalities that bring out warm, fuzzy emotions in the other, creating a kind of positive feedback loop through which they continue to make each other feel better. When you have a high degree of chemistry with someone, they monopolize your thoughts and/or your free time. You’ll stay up talking until the sun comes up and not even feel like an hour went by,” said Mark Manson.

4. Words aren’t necessary

A certain look or glance can tell you all you need to know. Your non-verbal communication is so powerful, there are times when there’s no need to speak at all. You can relay feelings of longing, love, trust, and playfulness effortlessly.

5. You laugh easily

Laughter is key to a healthy relationship. You should find yourself laughing easily and often. Something is not right if you usually feel tense and uncomfortable around each other. The right relationship should feel like coming home.

“It’s a safe bet that most of the laughs married couples get come from TV laugh tracks, not from each other. They don’t emanate from the relationship. More important, they don’t feed it. And if the jokes that make the rounds by email are any gauge, often they are at the expense of it. But homegrown laughter may be what ailing couples need most. Uniquely human, laughter is, first and foremost, a social signal — it disappears when there is no audience, which may be as small as one other person–and it binds people together. It synchronizes the brains of speaker and listener so that they are emotionally attuned,” said Hara Estroff Marano, Psychology Today editor-at-large.

6. You have a visceral reaction

When you’re around the person you were meant to be with, the innermost parts of you react. The connection is undeniable and every muscle in your body responds in agreement. It’s more than just a passing feeling, it’s a physical reaction that you can’t seem to control. When you’re around each other, your body can’t help but respond automatically.

7. You can’t see yourself with someone else

Even if you try, you can’t imagine what your life would be like without this person. The thought of being apart is physically painful. You want to spend more time together and dread leaving each other.

While all these things signal a strong connection, don’t forget the importance of compatibility as well as shared interests and values. It is also important for you to respect each other. When all these factors are in harmony, you just know it’s right. When you’ve found the one, don’t let anything get in your way. Do as much as you can to try to be together. Life is too short to wonder “what if.” Life let your paths cross for a reason, so take your chance while you still have it.

Oil Close To Being Found In North East- NNPC

Nigeria may well be on the verge of a significant oil find in the Lake Chad area in North East based on analysis of recent Seismic 3D data generated from the Basin, Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Dr. Ibe Kachikwu has said.
Dr. Kachikwu revealed this in a presentation to the Petroleum Club, Lagos, over the weekend.
The NNPC boss in the presentation titled, “Ongoing Reforms in the Oil Industry: Impact of NNPC Reforms on the Nigerian Economy,” said that the Corporation was injecting a lot of energy into the effort to ensure success in this regard.
He said, “There are signs from the latest 3D seismic studies that oil may well be very close to being found now in Lake Chad after very many years of trials. I think that this is very key.  It is key both for the geographical balancing of oil production and it is also very key for the purpose of refinery placement in the north in terms of access to crude. I am optimistic that by the end of the year we should be able to announce something major on this,” the GMD said.
Dr. Kachikwu noted that in driving and developing Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, certain key areas of urgent intervention have been identified.
They are: running production acreages with transparent and profitable partnerships to bridge capacity and funding gaps; encourage investment inflow into Nigeria’s oil and gas industry; engagement with local communities and driving regulation to develop the sector income, among others.
Providing specifics on the intervention targets, Dr. Kachikwu stated that the NNPC is projecting the inflow of $20 billion in 2016 to enable the Corporation fund major projects and improve its bottom line going forward.

Missing 11 Year Old Girl’s Body Found In Freezer

The body of a child believed to be missing 11-year-old Janiya Thomas was found in a freezer in a Manatee County home Sunday, Bradenton police said.

“I have been notified that a child’s body was found, and it is suspected she is the missing 11-year-old girl,” Police Chief Michael Radzilowski said.

At 11 p.m. Sunday, during a hastily called news conference in the parking lot of the Royal Palm 20 theater, police spokesman Lt. James Racky outlined when, where and how the body was found.

“At 7 p.m. Sunday we received a phone call from a family member of Janiya Thomas telling us the location where she possibly might be located,” Racky said. “We went to that location, and were told there that the body of the child may be in a freezer.”

The house where the child was found is occupied by Janiya’s aunt and grandmother in the Woods of Hammock Place subdivision, Racky said.

“We were able to locate a body in a freezer, but we have yet to confirm that it is the missing juvenile, Janiya Thomas,” Racky said.

On Sunday night, crime scene tape was placed around the house and investigators were seen inside taking pictures of a freezer, which Racky said was a stand alone unit, five-foot by four-foot. Neighbors gathered outside along the darkened street lined with well-kept homes, as well.

“A medical examiner will have to confirm the body’s identity through fingerprints and DNA and dental records before a conclusive report on the identity can be given,” Racky said.

“But the location of the freezer was in a family residence so we are pretty sure it’s going to be her, but we are not positive,” Racky added.

This past Wednesday, Janiya’s mother, Keishanna Thomas, with the help of a man, moved the freezer to the home, Racky said.

“She had help from an unknown black male who we are still trying to identify,” Racky said. “If anyone knows who he is, we would like to talk to him.”

Paris Hilton’s Expensive Diamond Ring Found In Poland

Paris Hilton got lucky in Poland when a firefighter found her extremely expensive diamond ring on a bus, but based on what we know there’s something sketchy going on here.

Paris apparently lost the diamond-studded ring Friday on an airport shuttle bus in the city of Lodz. Two days later, an airport fireman found it on the floor of the shuttle.

Now here’s the sketchy part. An airport spokeswoman says the fireman thought the ring belonged to a flight attendant. The spokeswoman says, “soon after he noticed Hilton on TV wearing the ring.” She wasn’t specific as to how much time passed … hours or days before the fireman saw Paris on TV.

We Found Corruption Everywhere, Says Ahmed Joda

Malam Ahmed Joda chaired President Muhammadu Buhari’s Transition Committee, which interfaced with former President Goodluck Jonathan’s team. In an exclusive interview, the ‘super permsec’ of the 1970s and 1980s, would not reveal any of the recommendations his committee made to President Buhari. But he was forthcoming on the state of the nation and the challenges the new government will face in the next four years. Malam Joda was frank and witty in this explosive interaction.

Specifically, what were the major terms of reference given to your committee?
Broadly speaking, we were to receive the handover notes from the outgoing government, study the notes, analyze them and make recommendations to the government on the economy specifically, on governance, security, corruption, on ministries and departments of government and agencies, defence; nearly everything you can think about. Specifically, we had to look into revenue streams from NNPC, from Federal Inland Revenue Service, Customs and other big corporations of government.

In the course of your assignment were you under some kind of pressure from people coming to lobby for one favour or the other?
There was a lot of that from people who wanted contract, who wanted to be given special favours. They were coming to me day and night and I said to them these are my terms of reference; they didn’t include things like award of contracts or recovery of bad debts from government or for employment of any group of people or individuals. I told them these were not part of our terms of reference. But we continued to receive them and nobody believed me when I said I could not appoint them ministers or chairmen or whatever; they said look you have influence on Buhari and I said I don’t have and even if I had I didn’t think he would respect me if all I did was go to him with piles papers and saying he should do this favour to this or that man or this or that woman. Also, I was inundated with telephone calls. For example, somebody telephoned and after introduction said he wanted to vie for the position of minister of sports. I said well I don’t know the address to which you would send it to.

Female Corps Member Found Dead On Ilorin Street

Tragedy struck in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, on Sunday night as a member of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, serving in the state, Miss Yetunde Shukurat Idowu, was found on the street, dead.

Vanguard reliably gathered that her last visit before she was found dead was to the popular shopping mall, Shoprite, located along Fate Road.

Consequently, concerned roommate and neighbours constituted themselves into a search party that found Yetunde stone dead on a street at GRA, Ilorin.

Vanguard also gathered that the family of the late youth corps member had been contacted, while her corpse would be released today (Wednesday) on the insistence of the family.

It was also gathered that the deceased, who was an indigene of Ogun State but lived along the popular Fate Road, Ilorin, was of the NYSC 2014 Batch ‘B’ set.

Vanguard investigations, however, revealed that the corps member who went to Shoprite on the fateful day, must have been given a free ride.

Contacted, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident, but could not confirm whether or not the late corps member was given a ride, saying they were still investigating.

Asked whether she was given a ride, he said: “All these are guess work. Nobody has volunteered any statement to us. If anybody has any information, maybe they should get to us.

“As far as we are concerned, it was a reported case of ‘found dead’ with a broken skull and bruises. For now, I cannot tell you whether it was a case of rape, abduction or kidnapping.

“We are still investigating. We cannot conclusively say it is a case of abduction or ritual killing because no part of the body was missing.

“It could be a case of a hit-and-run by a careless driver or an outright accident. I cannot confirm that she was raped because all the examinations conducted on her does not show any sign of rape and we are still investigating. But I cannot say exactly what happened.”

He said the corpse would be released today, while investigation was ongoing.

AirAsia Flight QZ8501 Found?

Missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 may have been found as Indonesian search crews believe they located the site where the flight and its 162 passengers and crew crashed in the ocean.

The flight lost contact with Indonesian air traffic control while en route to Singapore on Sunday. The pilots had asked to change course to avoid some bad weather, but the plane never sent a distress signal before being lost to radar. The flight had 162 people on board, including 155 passengers and seven crew members.

As the search widened on Sunday, reports began circulating that crash site for AirAsia flight QZ8501 had been found near East Belitung.

“We received information from Basarnas in Jakarta that contact had been lost with an AirAsia flight over Bangka Belitung waters at 6:17 a.m. local time. We then dispatched a vessel with a search and rescue team of 22 members to check the information,” Febi Imam Saputra, an information official at Basarnas Bangka Belitung, said as quoted byAntara news agency in Pangkalpinang on Sunday.

Saputra added that the flight went missing at 03.22.46 South and 108.50.07 East.

“If we look at the map, these coordinates refer to an area around 20 nautical miles from East Belitung,” said Febi.

But officials in Malaysia debunked the reports, saying that AirAsia flight QZ8501 remains missing.

“Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai has dismissed claims that flight QZ8501 has been found,” ChannelNewsAsia reported.

The search for missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 has widened, with several countries joining in to locate the missing plane. Merdeka.com reported that Jakarta deployed seven ships and a helicopter for the search and locate operations. Singapore has also deployed one C-130 plane, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore said in a statement.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Though there was bad weather on the plane’s route from Indonesia to Singapore including lightning strikes, one pilot with experience in the region said that should not have taken the plane down.

“Lightning cannot take out a plane,” pilot Elmo Jayawardena told ChannelNewsAsia.

As reports that AirAsia flight QZ8501 had been found still circulated, the Indonesian navy said that no wreckage was yet found, adding that visibility in the search zone was very narrow.
