See The Amazing Transformation Of This Sméagol Looking Cat After Its Adoption

When Melissa found this cat lying on the side of the road, caked in blood and with an injured jaw. She knew that she had to act fast to help him.

She was told by veterinarians that there was little chance that he would survive. But she never gave up on him. Melissa brought him home and gave him a name: Sméagol, after the creepy, wide-eyed character from The Lord of the Rings.

As months went by, Melissa continued to care for Sméagol. After all, he was family now. Even though he was too small for proper jaw surgery, this kitty healed up fine. His face has character and unparalleled charm.

As Sméagol’s coat grew back thick and healthy, his unique personality began to emerge.

From injured stray to loved and adopted, Sméagol is practically unrecognizable from the cat he once was.

Artist Buries Dress Inside the Dead Sea for 3 Months… See Amazing Transformation That Happened

An artist buried a dress right inside the red sea for as many as three months and brought it out again only to see a totally different thing.
In 2014, Israeli artist Sigalit Landau submerged a 19th century-style gown into the lifeless waters of the Dead Sea, for a unique photo project.
The dress was retrieved after three months, and as you can see in the photos below, the transformation is quite significant.
The dress when it was first submerged
For her latest project, an eight-part photo series called Salt Bride, Landau checked in on the dress multiple times over the three month period, capturing its slow transformation into a magical salt crystal.
As the salt in the water adhered to the fabric, the black dress gradually became stiffer and changed its color from charcoal black to pearly white. “It looks like snow, like sugar, like death’s embrace,” the artist poetically said in a statement.
The dress gradually changing
Sigalit Landau has been fascinated by the Dead Sea for a very long time. Growing up on a hill in Jerusalem, she would often look out on the northern banks of its waters, and visit its shores on weekends.
So it’s no wonder that the lifeless lowest place on Earth has also influenced her artistic career.
“It is like meeting with a different time system, a different logic, another planet,” the artist says.
She has been experimenting with the salt crystallization of objects in the Dead Sea for a while, and in her 2005 DeadSee artistic video, she floated naked in its waters with 500 watermelons.
The 19th century-style gown used by Laundau in the Salt Bride project is a replica of the one worn in the dramatic production of S. Ansky’s 1916 play “Dybbuk”, a classic play that inspired the artist. It tells the story of a young bride possessed by an evil spirit and subsequently exorcised. In her art, the salt symbolizes the supernatural force, invading the fabric and transforming it completely.
Sigalit Landau‘s Salt Bride is currently on display at London’s Marlborough Contemporary gallery, where art lovers will be able to admire photos of this magical Dead Sea transformation until September 3rd.

Saheed Animashaun: The Wailing Wailers And The Die Hard Buharists; A Tale Of Two Extremes

Power, especially one conferred as a result of high public office position, creates a dangerous phenomenon. An imaginary protective shield is automatically erected around you. People around you want to please you always. They only say what they believe wouldn’t hurt you. They tell you whatever you want to hear and not what you need to hear! They tell you you are the best ever! They probably only give you positive feedback from people as regards your administration.

This is why I don’t envy President Muhammadu Buhari. Being President of Nigeria at a period as historic as this is no mean feat! It is a taxing job; one that requires a lot of wisdom and understanding.

Constructive criticism is needed to ensure that public office holders are constantly reminded that governance is no ‘tea party’. It is required to keep public office holders on their toes! It is essential so as to push public office holders to always act in the interest of the people.

To be more specific, let us examine the current administration. The Buhari-led government lacks the kind of credible opposition that PDP got while in power for 16 years. The PDP while not yet dead and buried, has failed woefully in serving as a focal point of constructive criticism! Their vituperations championed by circus clowns like Fayose, Metuh, and Fani-Kayode, have been mostly pointless!

The onus is therefore on conscionable Nigerians, youths especially, to serve as a focal point for constructive criticism. It is more important for the warriors that championed the Change campaign that brought in PMB,  to be as loud as they can be, with their criticisms. They gave too much, physically, emotionally, psychologically, and even spiritually to the vision!  They have invested too much that it will be foolhardy to decide to rest their oars now!

It is however saddening that many young Nigerians that should ensure that the Buhari-led government gets credible opposition are in two conundrums ; they are either ‘wailing wailers’ or Die-hard ‘Buharists’. The former category needs no introduction! The latter category belongs to the Buhari-can-never-be-wrong party! They mindlessly defend every action or inaction of Buhari! Buhari is a demigod to them! This portends a grave danger for the current administration if not reversed! Not having a credible opposition is bad enough. Having praise singers, the kind that ‘kobalized‘ Uncle Hero (GEJ) is super scary!
Yes, we should lend our praise-singing voices sometimes so as not to further worsen the level of hopelessness many Nigerians have in a better Nigeria. However, our loudest voices should be reserved for the quest to make the Buhari-led government more responsive, accountable and transparent!

We cannot afford to get it wrong at this moment because we’re at a crossroad. Buhari either sets Nigeria on a path of recovery, or sets it back several miles! There’s nothing in between! This is why we can never afford to be docile or praise-singers!
The Buhari honeymoon is over! Unless, we all pretend to be blind, deaf and dumb, we all realize that many aspects of the Buhari administration have been uninspiring, chief being his PR!

We need to always remind Buhari that the wind of change that swept him into power can also sweep him and his Party out come 2019!

We cannot get it wrong! It took efforts/convictions of huge proportions to kick out PDP! Buhari and APC cannot afford to throw away this golden chance to save Nigeria from the throes of under-development.

Lagos Govt. Commences Transformation Of Oshodi Market, Bus-Stops

The Lagos State Government says it has shut the Owonifari Market within the Oshodi Market and relocated affected traders and shop owners to the newly-built Isopakodowo Market stalls at Bolade in the area.

This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Steve Ayorinde.

He said that the government had also commenced the fencing-off of the set-back on the Agege Motor Road that stretches from the Ilupeju end of Oshodi, all the way to the PWD/Ikeja GRA end of the area.

Ayorinde said the move was geared toward the need to sanitise and beautify the entire Oshodi area and bring transformation, particularly to the Owonifari loop, as well as the entire bus stop terminals, which had constituted a menace and an eyesore within the locality.

He said that the Owonifari loop would be transformed into an ultra-modern bus terminus with new bus shelters that were befitting of a structured park in a mega city.

“The fencing-off of the long stretch of the set-back is being undertaken to assist the Federal Government and the Nigerian Railway Corporation in particular, with a view to beautifying it and safeguard lives along the railway corridor by discouraging street trading and indiscriminate use of the space,’’ he said.

Ayorinde said the ongoing fencing-off and beautification of the road set-back from the Ilupeju bypass to PWD/Ikeja GRA would constitute the first phase of the transformation of the area.

He said the second phase would begin from PWD/Ikeja GRA and stretch all the way to the Agege/Pen cinema axis.

Ayorinde said that residents should expect from the transformation exercise, a new Oshodi that would be sane, safe and where both traders and commuters would be pleased to visit and trade.

He assured that the traders being relocated had been properly allocated shops within the Isopakodowo market and that the demolition of the loop was in the best interest of the people who should expect a world-class bus terminus there.

The commissioner reiterated Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode’s commitment to bring development to every area of the state.
He, therefore, urged the Local Council Development Areas and other stakeholders to cooperate with the State Government in achieving the governor’s vision of making the 2016 budget work for every resident.

President Buhari And The Cost of Running This Government By Kofoworola Ayodeji

The highly industrious Baba Yemi wakes up every morning thinking how he will struggle to feed his wife and children to fulfill their usual 0-1-0 pattern of feeding (no breakfast, there might be lunch, no dinner). Meanwhile, the story is not different for the brilliant Chioma who is begging to have a better higher education so that her dreams of a great future could come true, but there are no funds and ‘connection’.
What about the very resourceful Adamu who graduated from the university many years ago with excellent grades but yet to be gainfully employed? (Even though he has fantastic business ideas, there is no capital or leverage to take off and build his desired business outfit). You will agree with me that these depict some of the hardships being faced by tens of millions of Nigerians every day. Poverty at its peak!
It could have been understandable if the people we (including Baba Yemi, Chioma and Adamu) voted into power to manage our resources on our behalf do so judiciously and live a modest lifestyle. But that’s not the case! The total amount spent on the emolument of public officials in Nigeria is enough to bring millions of Nigerians out of abject poverty. According to media reports, Nigerian Air Force aircraft is the third largest in the country after Aero Contractors with 14 and Arik Air which is the largest commercial airline in Nigeria with a fleet of 23 aircraft. You know it is actually very shocking to grab the fact that the Presidential Air Fleet has over e-l-e-v-e-n aircraft. If I may ask just like every other Nigerian, “Can the president, his Vice, Senate President or Speaker of the House board more than one plane at a time. Obviously, that’s not possible! Then why spend over #12 billion every year to maintain such a huge ‘burden’?
It’s on record that the British prime minister of United Kingdom has no presidential aircraft. Instead, members of the British government charter the British Airways or Virgin Atlantic most times. It’s the same for the president, prime minister and government officials of Singapore and Chief Executive of Honk Kong who mostly travel on regular scheduled commercial airlines. The presidential fleets of countries like India, South Korea have four aircraft while that of Canada and South Africa operate five. The government of Tunisia has two aircraft in the presidential fleet and it’s interesting to note that they are reportedly trying to sell both. We are eagerly waiting to see Nigeria follow the path of Tunisia and have the Presidential Air Fleet reduced reasonably.
Having talked about that, let’s take a look at the cost of maintaining the overwhelming political and public officials in the country. Federal Lawmakers (Senators and House of Representatives Members), Ministers and Presidential Aides receive huge amount of emoluments. It’s also strange that they collect several allowances that are six times more than their basic salaries. We learnt from Elementary Mathematics that 100% is absolute i.e. no percentage is higher than 100. But to my utmost surprise, Nigerian public officials collect some allowances that are as high as 200% to 300% of their basic salaries. Isn’t that a clear abracadabra?!
According to www.punchng.com/news/ministers-aides-allowances-surpass-basic-pay-six-times “each minister and presidential aide is entitled to 15 types of allowances. The annual allowances of each minister that monetized are #12,678,764 as against an annual salary of #2,026,400 while monetized allowances of each presidential aide is #12,142,968.75 as against an annual salary of #1,942,875.”
To further add salt to this deep wound, Nigeria has an unnecessarily large number of ministers and ministries. Previous governments, starting from 1999, appointed 42 ministers- picking one from each of the six geo-political zones in addition to one from each of the 36 states of the federation. As it stands, 28 ministries and 542 agencies are being sustained by the Federal Government.
A staggering revelation was made by the report of Ahmed Joda-led transition committee of the All Progressives Party (APC). As made available by www.thecable.ng/exclusive-joda-committee-asks-buhari-appoint-19-senior-ministers, the report posited: “There is no direct relationship between the number of ministries and efficacy of service delivery. The US with a population of 316 million and with GDP of $17,328 trillion (30 times Nigeria’s GDP) has 15 ministries. India has 24 ministries, while the UK has 17.” Just imagine that!
It is very funny and pathetic that a country like Nigeria which is still struggling to stabilize her democracy is spending such a huge amount of money on public officials even more than the United States and United Kingdom. Na wa oooo!
Like many other well meaning Nigerians, I expect President Buhari to reduce the number of aircraft in the Presidential Air Fleet; reduce the allowances of ministers and presidential aides; review and implement the committee reports of Ahmed Joda (which suggested that federal ministries should be reduced to 19) and Stephen Oronsaye (which gave recommendations on civil service reforms) as soon as possible.
To our amiable president, we are eagerly waiting for all these reforms so that Nigeria can once again begin to rise. Once this is done, we would believe that the #Change we voted for is indeed on the way. No more, no less. God bless Nigeria abundantly!

#PAUSIBILITY: Solecism Of This Transformation – Adebayo Coker

Ordinarily, I do a weekly submission but my musing wouldn’t let me rest.

I am sure you will wonder the kind of paragraphs that will follow this opening. Some people will develop further defence when am done answering this question due to their embryonic stance on Americanism; they usually would say “ the fact that it worked in America doesn’t mean it is good for us”. To this set of people I will say I agree with them to the extent that until when we are ready to develop our own peculiar models to proffering solutions to our own peculiar problems, I will continue to use suitable examples from any part of the world.

Let me quickly draw a line of relationship between Hurricane Sandy and Boko Haram. Although they both proffered a saving grace scenario to the leaders of two wonderful countries in the world, whose popularity amongst their people was drowning, but like any survivalist would grapple for any thin line of hope that is likely to sustain their continued existence. The opportunity for redemption came. One of the leaders saw and acted accordingly as is expected of a leader who is in sync with his people but the other frittered away his chance.

Hurricane Sandy affected some parts of the United States Of America at about the peak of the decline of President Barrack Obama’s popularity. The Americans waited for him at the poll to send him out of the White House because so many of his promises were believed to be mere verbosity with little or no chance of reality. The election year came and the campaign started; movement from state to state, typical of political campaigns. True, it was another round of grandiosity from the first black man President of the most powerful nation in the world, but along the way came Hurricane Sandy; very disastrous ( not the first hurricane or disaster though) but was one of the (if not THE ONLY) saving grace of Obama in that election year. Barrack abandoned all campaigns and went to sympathise with the bereaved. He did it so genuinely that many yet-to-decide Americans at that time, even when they knew it will be another term of same and the same, gave their votes to him nonetheless. He won with a landslide victory.

Boko Haram is a menace that has been terrifying the entire Nigeria nation (whichever way we look at it we are all in this together), the most populous black nation in the world. The Shekau scourge became intense just few years ago. When the whole world was wondering what the FG was doing to address the issue and were ready to their give utmost support to the government to get this hydra- headed monster annihilated once and for all the government saw another rhythm to it that the rest of the world was not listening to. They claimed this is a guerrilla war, not conventional and will require some level of expertise to address. Quite understandable. But for six years that the FG sought training of military personnel, chaos was let lose. Thousands of lives were lost. People were dehumanized and killed. Girls and boys were kidnapped, conscripted into the sect and used to cause further mayhem on Nigerian communities. Parts of the country were seized and flags hoisted establishing the sect’s territory within Nigeria, a sovereign nation!

In the reign of all this, the President saw nothing threatening as long as it was not anywhere near Aso Rock. He did not act as expected of a Commander-in-Chief. Rather, he partied and danced on the graves of so many lives that were lost. He enjoyed his campaigns of calumny till the last minute, sometime two weeks ago.

Just as election came and Sandy presented a saving grace for Obama, so also election came and what was considered inconsequential so long as it could be used as a factor in a political permutation, is now a curse for this President.

Had this administration acted rightly six years ago by decimating or working assiduously to decimate the insurgents, some Nigerians will, at least, see a path of moral recompense to the President by giving him their votes because of that act of bravery. The President lacks every moral right to ask for any reimbursement whatsoever. His prehensile associates and aides miscalculated on that.

The recent exploits being recorded by the Nigeria Armed Forces in routing the insurrection just after the six weeks solecism, is a pointer that truly and truly, this government knew what to do all the while to stem this menace but chose the path of wickedness as they had thought that by allowing the crisis to fester( I suspect complicity), a State of Emergency will be declared in the Northeast, then the PDP will have a roller coaster ride back to power… the heart of man is desperately wicked

In the face of this deliberate delay to score a cheap political point which has led to loss of lives and properties, I hereby endorse CHANGE as the only panacea to this transformation that polarized us along sectional and sectarian lines. A transformation that underestimated the enemies of Nigeria bringing about a Rwandani-treat to our people. A transformation that makes me buy fuel to power my generator to watch the President on national TV, launching a power station purportedly generating some immeasurable megawatts of power. A transformation that has turned unyielding goons to sudden billionaires. A transformation being led by a President that wants to enjoy the full benefits and appurtenances of office but has shamelessly failed (on many occasions) to stand up to the functionality and responsibility of office. A re-commissioning transformation.

I laugh.

Bruce Jenner’s Family Supportive Of His Transition To Female

Bruce Jenner’s reported decision to transition to female may have caught some of his children off guard, according to People. “There was a lot they didn’t know about their dad,” a source claimed to the mag, of the Kardashian and Jenner kids.

Despite the life-changing surprise, the entire family is now on board with Bruce’s decision, the source said. “The number one thing is they all support Bruce,” the source claimed to the mag, adding that even Bruce’s ex-wife, Kris Jenner, is at peace with the situation.

“Kris has been great and anything that says the opposite just isn’t true,” claimed the source. “It’s really a hard adjustment for her and a shock but she 100 percent supports him – the whole family does.
