Popular Nigerian clergy blasts pastors who invite comedians to church events

Popular Nigerian dramatist and founder of Mount Zion Drama Ministry, Mike Bamiloye, has spoken out against Nigerian clergies who invite comedians to perform at their church events.

Mr. Bamiloye, who is also the president, Mount Zion Faith Ministries, tackled the controversial topic in a lengthy post on his official YouTube page on Monday.

In addressing the issue, he made reference to a particular YouTube video titled, Still Ringing Brings Down House On The Rock, Pastor Paul Adefarasin Laughed So Hard.

He titled the article, As per COMEDY in Church Meetings and Events!!  The post, which has since gone viral, generated a lot of comments with majority of the respondents concurring with the popular clergy.

It partly read, “I want to address Christians – ALL denominations – this morning without prejudice!

“For a long while I have questioned the inclusion of COMEDY in Church events. What do I question? The fact that the comedians brought in are allowed to make jokes of scriptures, the Blood of Jesus, speaking in tongues, the throne of grace etc.’ AND WE SIT THERE LAUGHING!

“What are we laughing at? What is funny? Mocking God and Christ and the Holy Spirit and the Word is funny????

“We hear of other religions where they are obsessed with protecting the image of their Leader and we gleefully allow people to MOCK our Leader JESUS CHRIST and the Holy Spirit and thereby indirectly MOCKING GOD!!! They look at us with disdain because we are BAD AMBASSADORS of our faith!”

Still writing, he added that cynicism has crept slowly into the lives of Christians. He also noted the fact that most Christians publicly abuse leaders of the gospel with glee and mock certain commandments of God.

“I was thinking of all this since Friday when a comedian was allowed in the stage at the EXPERIENCE to use a scripture in the Old Testament as foundation for his jokes! I LAUGHED also but later felt badly convicted and I said I will speak out – then this morning I received the message below in my Watsapp and I said – somebody feels the same way I do. So there it is: what is the stance you will take??? Join the revelers or stand against MOCKERY in the name of COMEDY in Church activities and events???I have said my own!.”

One of Nigeria’s foremost Christian dramatists, Mr. Bamiloye founded Mount Zion Ministries in 1985.

His debut drama, titled Hell in Conference was staged at the National Christian Teachers Conference in 1986 at Ilesa in Osun State.

He has featured, produced and directed several Nigerian Christian films over the years. Some of his notable films include Fiwajomi”, “Dying With the King”, “Shadows of Death”, “Journey in Circle”, “Mobile Prison”, “Harmony Deal” and “The Accountant.”

South African Pastor Dies Following 30 Days Fasting To Beat Jesus Christ’s Record

A quick reminder not to dare God, after a popular South African pastor dies following 30 days fasting in a bid to break Jesus Christ’s record.

In a determined bid to break the record set by Jesus Christ of Nazareth, a 44-year-old popular South African pastor, Alfred Ndlovu, has died of malnutrition following a dry fasting that lasted for 30 days.

According to Buzz South Africa, the cleric left home on June 17 for a nearby bush to have prayers just like Jesus did in an attempt to equal or break Jesus Christ’s record of fasting for 40 days, but died just a month despite having no history of illness.

It was learnt that the pastor was alone in the wilderness and his body was found by a stranger who then called on his family, congragation and the police.

He was known by his family and community at large as a very spiritual person whose faith could move mountains and his death surprised everyone, even church members.

A close relative said: “He was a very spiritual man. Its unfortunate he had to die this way. After a month we got the sad news of his death. Pastor was a healthy and religious old man who did not even look his age.”

Gunmen Kidnap Three Kaduna Pastors, Demand N100m

Members of the Taraya Ekklesiyoyin Kristi A Nigeria (Fellowship of Churches of Christ in Nigeria, TEKAN), have been thrown into confusion following the kidnapping of their President, Dr. Emmanuel Dziggau.

Dziggau was said to have been kidnapped on Monday along with his deputy, Rev. Illiya Anto, and a retired reverend in the church, Yakubu Dzarma.

Anto was later released on health grounds.

TEKAN General Secretary, Rev. Moses Ebuga, told newsmen in Jos on Tuesday that the three men were kidnapped in Kaduna.

Dziggau is also the president of Haddiyar Ekklesiya Kristi A Nigeria (United Church of Christ in Nigeria) and the TEKAN/ECWA bloc leader in the Christian Association of Nigeria.

The three men were said to have been kidnapped at the church crusade ground along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Monday morning.

It was learnt that the masked gunmen stormed the crusade ground and picked the three men while other church members fled.

The General Secretary of the church and one of the eyewitnesses, Rev Jibrailu Wobiya, who confirmed the abduction to one of our correspondents, said Dziggau and some members were at the area to clear the crusade ground for a forthcoming church programme.

Ebuga called on the Federal Government and security operatives to do everything possible to ensure the safety of the clergymen.

He said the kidnappers had contacted him and demanded a ransom of N100m.

Ebuga described the abduction of the clerics as shocking, calling for their immediate release.

He said the three men might have been kidnapped because of the oncoming CAN national election.

He added, “We are not ignorant of the recent scheming against the Nigerian church with regard to the upcoming CAN national election, where the leaders have become the subject of attacks, particularly the leadership of TEKAN/ECWA bloc in CAN.

“As a body, we are calling on the government to do everything possible to ensure the safety of the leaders,  unearth their whereabouts and to have the perpetrators fished out.

Ebuga called on the TEKAN churches and the Nigerian church to rise up in prayer against the ugly development, asking them to pray that God would expose the sponsors and perpetrators of the kidnapping.

The Kaduna State Police Command had yet to confirm the kidnapping of the pastors on Tuesday.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Abubakar Zubairu, did not return repeated telephone calls to his mobile.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna State, Rev. George Dodo, described the pastors’ abduction as “unpleasant and shocking.”

The CAN’s chairman, while confirming the incident, said he just heard of the “unpleasant” development on Tuesday, calling on security agencies to do all they could to unmask the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

Dodo stated, “I heard about it this afternoon; it is an unpleasant news, a shocking news to everybody. Government should put in motion all its security apparatus to ensure the liberation of those abducted.”

The spokesman for the Northern States CAN, Rev. Josesph Hayab,  condemned the abduction of the clerics.

He called on the kidnappers to release the three men unconditionally or be prepared to incur the wrath of God.

77-Year-Old U.S. Man Sentenced To Jail In Spain After Falling For Romance Scam

A retired pastor from Maine 77 year old Joseph Bryon Martin, was arrested by the Apanish police last year for carrying $450,00 worth of cocaine and has been sentenced to six years in a Spanish prison after he allegedly fell victim to a “romance scam” that targets senior citizens in the United States.

Martin had no idea he was moving drugs. He thought he was only doing a favour for the woman he met online in 2009 by helping her move real estate documents she asked him to help her with.

His son, Andy Martin, told Fox News Latino that he is bringing his dad’s plight to the public because
“I’d like to get the word out about this,””so other lonely seniors don’t fall prey.”

“Seniors get trapped, and they send money, and, once they do that, these people sell their information to other scammers. I want people to know what’s happening.”

He testified in February before the US Senate Special Committee on Aging, which is looking into catfishing schemes that target seniors.
He said:

“At the age of 77 and in poor health, this likely is a life sentence,” Martin told the committee about his father. “The idea that my dad is now a convicted international drug smuggler is surreal, as he had no prior criminal history. Before this conviction, my dad had never been charged with even a misdemeanor. I don’t recall him ever getting so much as a speeding ticket or parking ticket in his entire life.”

According to Andy, his dad had been chatting online with a Spanish woman he met on the Internet in 2009 who went by the name of Joy. She told his dad that she was a struggling artist and needed money and even though his dad was retired and only had the little money he got from the Govt. He always gave ‘Joy’ between  $500-$2500 each month  and couldn’t always pay his own rent.

However when his Dad got married to his third wife in April 2015, they were all relieved. His dad tried to break things off with Joy with the news that he had married someone else in the US and that he would no longer send her money.

Somehow Joy convinced his Dad to travel to Peru to pick up real estate documents for an estate she claimed she had inherited. She told him she couldn’t get a visa to make the trip to Peru herself and his Dad fell for it. He said they all told his Dad not to go, even his new wife objected to it but he still made the trip.

In Peru, he picked up two sealed packages that he told Andy felt like books, according to the Portland Press Herald.

However, his flight to London was stopped in Madrid and Martin was subsequently arrested by local authorities who found the cocaine in his possession.

Andy said his father suffers from chronic back pain and needs surgery. He had been treated for prostate cancer, had quadruple bypass surgery and has a pacemaker. He’s living in the prison infirmary with eight to ten other prisoners. He’s asking the US committee to help seek his father’s releases based on his poor health.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection revealed on Wednesday that they have created a new initiative to fight such scams on the elderly called “Operation Cocoon.”
So far it has prevented 16 senior citizens from boarding planes, and foreign authorities have arrested 15 suspects alleged to be involved in the “romance scam.”

Kidnappers Abduct RCCG Pastor During Service

A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God has been kidnapped by yet-to-be identified persons.

It was gathered that Pastor Ayo Raphael was kidnapped during the Sunday service at the Resurrection parish of the RCCG in Kabba junction in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

Eyewitnesses said the kidnappers, numbering about 10, stormed the church auditorium at about 9am and ordered the congregation to lie face down.

An eyewitness, who pleaded not to be named, said, “The pastor was dragged out of the church into the bush while the abductors shot sporadically into the air to facilitate their escape.”

Although no lives were lost, many members of the congregation were said to have sustained injuries as a result of their scampering for safety as the kidnappers were shooting into the air.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the kidnappers had contacted the church, demanding N50m before the pastor could be released.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said he had yet to be briefed about the incident.

He promised to get back to our correspondent on the police efforts on the matter, but had yet to do so as of press time.

Malawi Pastor, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri Acquires A Third Private Jet In 2 Years

The unveiling ceremony of the new jet ZS-VIP was by the biggest Company of Aviation NAC in South Africa on Wednesday, January 6. The handover was presided over by Gulf Stream Manager Larry Flynn. Bushiri received a certificate from Flynn for becoming the youngest buyer of Gulf Stream jet.

The pastor who is popularly referred to as “Major 1” of ‘Papa in Christian cycles dedicated the new jet to all the people who follow him and understand vision.
He posted photos of the new jet on his Facebook page. When a follower criticised him for spending money that could have been used to help the poor, Bushiri replied:

Why I Had A Son Out Of Wedlock – Eucharia Anunobi

Nollywood veteran actress turned evangelist,Eucharia Anunobi has opened up on being a single mother and how having a son out of wedlock was a mistake.Excerpts from her interview with the New Telegraph Newspaper

You once said that your intimidating profile tends to discourage men from asking your hand in marriage; what is happening to your love life?

I can’t remember ever saying such a thing. I don’t know about men being scared of me (chuckles). Well, I will take it that what you are saying is that I’m not in a relationship. Of course you know I would not want to discuss my private life. But I have to tell you what I am doing and what is not happening, I believe in things that are incubating; if it’s meant to come out, it will come out. A lot of people do not know of my commitment to my Christian life too.

How is your son doing? He must have really grown now.

Very well, we thank the God Almighty, the Lord has been faithful.

What is it like being a single parent?

It was not a deliberate choice that I have made, it came by chance, it came by mistake. God does not kill His children who have made mistakes. He would rather sustain them and tell them that He is the owner of all things. The Lord has been sustaining me as a single parent I don’t think about it, all I know is ‘God, you are the one that created me and the child that you gave to me’. So whatever that is needed of me, it was a wrong choice that I made.

Have you tried to reconcile with the father of your son?

When somebody says that I do not want to be a responsible father what do you do? You don’t take a horse to the river and force it to drink.

Is there any plan of settling down, your ideal man?
Of course, why not? Every woman says I want tall black, handsome man. We all need good things. All the good things every normal woman wants, I want it too. He must be somebody who has the spirit of God, someone who has Christ as his backbone.

What is the name of the church or the branch you pastor?

I am an associate pastor with the Fresh Oil Ministry International Church at Egbeda in Lagos. I am an ordained evangelist as well as an apostle; I am a convent speaker in and around the country. I had gone to minister in the United States of America, a lot of West African countries, and I have ministered in a lot of churches in and outside the country and some churches and organisations invite me to be their speaker at their various meetings.

Reverend Who Spanks Married Women As Punishment Arrested

A church minister has been arrested over claims he spanked. worshippers.  Rev Howard Curtis, 72, allegedly persuaded worshipers to undress for him in the office of Coulsdon Christian Fellowship, in Croydon, South London,

The claims are believed to be centred around a movement known as ‘Christian Domestic Discipline’, which involves men asserting authority over women through physical punishment, usually spanking, the Telegraph reports

his own church alone while the Metropolitan Police probes allegations about his conduct.

Three people have lodged assault. allegations against Mr Curtis a senior minister, who is believed to have been involved with the church for at least two decades.

The website of Christian Domestic Discipline says the practice is ‘intended to be a haven for married couples who practice safe and consensual’ discipline.

What in God’s name is ‘safe and consensual’ discipline, for crying out loud?????? And why on earth would you want to touch married women in their sensitive parts, all in the name of this ‘spanking’??

South African Pastor Preaches From Inside Coffin

A pastor in South Africa has abandoned the pulpit for a coffin, literally. According to church member and former drug dealer, 28 year old Aphiwe Nqevu ‘brought the coffin to illustrate to people who fail to embrace Jesus as the son of God that they will go to hell and face eternal death.

Masquerade Arrested After Invading Church, Floging Pastors & Church Members

Four masquerades, on Sunday, invaded Christ Apostolic Church in Epinmi Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, disrupted the service and flogged officiating pastors and some members of the church.

A source said that the masquerades, who were earlier prevented from entering the church by the workers, forced their way in and headed towards the officiating pastor, beating him and other pastors.

The invasion disrupted the service, as members of the church, who were caught unawares, left their bibles and other belongings and ran out of the church.

The source said the masquerades acted as if they had a score to settle with the officiating pastors, Jacob Ogunmola and Kehinde Ilori, as they flogged them repeatedly, chasing them around the church until they could not run again.

The source explained that the two pastors were injured and later rushed to a nearby hospital, adding that the reasons behind the action of the masquerades remained unknown.

One of the masquerades, Tunde Arohunmolase, was, however, apprehended by the people and had been handed over to the police, while other masquerades fled the scene after the incident.

“The police responded promptly and one of them was overpowered by the congregation. His mask was uncovered and most of the people in the church and around the community identified him to be one of the boys from the community,” the source said.

Two Senior Pastors Continue Their Bloody Fight Over Who Will Be General Superintendent

The shameless leadership tussle in the Assemblies of God Church is getting out of hand. Reports suggest that there would have been another bloodbath recently but for the timely intervention of the police.

Vanguard reports that factionalization of the church has resulted in crisis which has been brewing in the church as two senior Reverends, Professor Paul Emeka and Dr Chidi Okoroafor, have been at loggerheads, each laying claim to be the overall leader of the church, qualified to bear the designation General Superintendent, GS.

It was also gathered that the case has been taken to the court and is presently in the Supreme Court, awaiting the final arbitration but while awaiting the judgement, members of the 27 Mount Street Parish, Enugu engaged in free-for-all centering on the crisis over who takes control of the parish which is believed to be lucrative.

Reverend Nathaniel Udeze had reportedly stormed the Mount Street parish with letters of posting and other court documents empowering him to be installed as the new pastor of the parish that morning, but he was vehemently resisted along with his team of loyalists by the current Resident pastor of the parish, Reverend Amaechi Agbo who, along with his loyalists, accused Udeze of being an “intruder”.

This did not go down well with the visiting pastor, whose men allegedly swung into swift action as Udeze insisted on taking over since he had been officially posted there by the leadership of the church under Rev Paul Emeka.

It took the timely intervention of the police who raced to the place, to avert further crisis and the church was locked up.

This was not the first time members of the congregation would engage in such a show of shame It has already happened around March this year and also last year, hell was also let loose at the national headquarters of the church located in Enugu when the two warring factions engaged in a bloody clash that left no fewer than five persons seriously injured, while four cars parked at the premises were burnt beyond recognition during the free for all that ensued.

On how the party averted bloodshed during the fracas, the state police command’s image maker, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, said: “please let me correct one impression. We (Police) did not lock up any church. Ours is to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order. What happened was that we intervened and averted what could have resulted to bloodshed.

“If  not for our timely intervention that Sunday, it could have been a different story. When efforts were made to bring the two factions to amicable settlement, which was not forthcoming, we gave our advice, so they locked it up and the keys are with them not with us (Police). But for now, we are monitoring the place to ensure that no unpleasant thing occurred there.”

Stop Making Fun Of Pastors In Your Jokes, Oyakhilome Warns Comedians

Pastor Oyakhilome has warned comedians asking them to stop making jest of pastors while cracking jokes. According to him, this is not a message from him, but from God. The General Overseer of Christ Embassy made this known during a meeting which holds every first Sunday of the month with the BLW nation’s citizens worldwide and a host of other global audience spanning more than 6 continents via live transmission across TV stations and online platforms around the world.

“For those of you, who are comedians, try all you can not to make fun with pastors in your comedy. Because you are going to see some comedians whose lives would be a comedy. This is what the lord said I should tell you. Because a lot of them who does such will have their lives reduced. Which
means you are going to see them and say; is this you? Is this what your life has become? Don’t joke with sacred things. Pastors occupy sacred place. You must know what to joke with and what not to joke with,” the Pastor said.

He that has ears let him hear.

EXPOSED: Fake Miracle By Popular Nigerian Pastor Caught on Camera [Video]

Dear Editor,

Please share this so people will learn to look up to God instead of men who claim to be called by God. I was at the event live and this is not hear say. They have paid gangs who work with them. I have always suspected him so I went with my hidden Camera.

Pay attention to 2:20–2:40 minutes section of the video, you will notice a young man drop a black polyethylene bag in front of the sick man from where two dead lizards popped out from. I saw what happened and I didn’t want to embarrass them so I had to quietly follow the boy who dropped the lizard to question him in private and collected his number. I made him my friend and over a period of
2 weeks, I bought his trust and he confessed to me that the priest pay up to 15k per deal and that they were about 7 working for him. He confessed of sneaking into peoples compound at night to bury charms which the same Man of god who sent them will unearth the next day or whenever they come for covenant breaking.

Thank you
According to Mr. Gabriel Nwachukwu who has had prior dealings with him;

l know this Priest very very well and his fake!!!
He was invited to my own compound l mean my own blood elder sister invited him for family deliverence on August 12th 2012 in Ogbor ugiri community, lsiala Mbano. after my elder brother’s mystrious death. And he did the same thing he did here, he took us to our backyard and began to dug the ground , at a point he began to pour water into the hole in the ground and asked us to close our eyes, face up and pray. few seconds later he asked us to open our eyes and look, without digging the hole ant further he asked his servant to pour back some of the sand into the hole and then asked him to open the hole again, as he was removing that same sand from the same hole, he brought out something tied with red clothe.

The red clothe was still shiny and fresh,,,,Haba,,some buried for a long time?? And they put inside their bag…God knows l and my immediate elder never believed it……He said he knew the person that did it and that he will tell us his name the next day during our family meeting but he not come to our house rather he asked his boys to come and carry the working materials they left in our compound and didn’t tell us the name of the person that did the evil, even when we went to his fake adoration ground at some where in Ehime mbano, that same day, he refused talking to us, told his boys to tell us that he was busy and till today he never told us anything or come to our compound or community.

Before he was claiming a catholic priest, before the catholics denied him then, he proclaimed himself an anglican priest, which my mother still have his fake amalac(calender) of anglican priesthood, in her room and the anglicans also denied him, he now claims to a catholic priest under East American catholic church……isn’t that funny?

Watch the Video above.

Church Members Of Pastor Held For Drug Trafficking Disappear

The family and church members of the 43-year-old pastor, who was arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly trafficking heroin as he was returning from ministers’ conference in Uganda, have fled.

The Pastor, Daniel Lanre Akintola, is of the Gospel Faith Mission International, Olayemi Assembly, Ipaja Lagos State.

An EagleOnline correspondent visited the pastor’s home on Thursday, only to discover that his house, located at Block 326, flat 3 was under lock. Neighbours said they did not know the whereabouts of his wife and child.

Many of the residents asked about the man of God, quickly dashed into their apartments, to avoid
answering, while those who answered said they did not know any pastor.

His church, Gospel Faith Mission International, located at Olayemi Assembly Area of Ipaja, was also deserted as no person was seen.

Akintola was found with 1.978kg of heroin concealed in a false bottom of his luggage. Akintola was arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA). Akintola who claimed ownership of the bag containing heroin said that he was returning from a pastor’s conference. He said:

“I’m a pastor with Gospel Faith Mission International, Olayemi Assembly, Ipaja Lagos. I attended a minister’s conference in Uganda. This bag where heroin was found is my bag but I’m pastor and not a drug trafficker!”

NDLEA spokesman, Mitchel Ofoyeju, said that the suspect who lives in Lagos could not produce evidence that he actually attended a minister’s conference in Uganda.

“Besides, he also did not give any reason for leaving Entebbe, Uganda en-route Addis Ababa to Enugu,” said Ofoyeju.

A neighbour in the estate where Akintola reside, who spoke on conditions of anonymity, said for about a week now, she had not seen the pastor. She said:

“We just moved into this area. I used to see him play with people. He looked very humble and friendly. Everyone calls him pastor; I don’t know the particular church he pastors. His wife has been alone for some time. But where the husband travelled to, I do not know”.

6,000 Pastors Endorse Buhari as Nigeria’s Next President

In spite of allegations that some pastors collected N7billion to support President Goodluck Jonathan’s ambition, no fewer than 6,000 Pastors in the Southwest are mobilising for the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as president and have declared seven days praying and fasting for God to grant him victory.

The pastors under the aegis of Christians for Governance, Pastors For Change, held a conference in Ikeja, Lagos, where they openly endorsed the candidacy of Muhammadu Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo, who is a respected pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

The clerics are drawn from various churches, such as the Redeemed Church, Catholic, Orthodox, etc.

They declared that they were not part of Jonathan’s largesse and that nobody gave them money to support Buhari, but acting by divine intervention from God who told them that Buhari would be the next president of Nigeria.

The movement is being supported by Rev. Moses Iloh, Archbishop Magnus Atilade, Ayo Opadokun and many other bigwigs in Christendom.

Addressing the conference, Bishop Kayode Williams, National Coordinator, Christians for Good Governance, said they have about 6,000 ministers who were part of the group calling for change in leadership as the present government had failed the nation.

“We want to observe seven days of special prayer on the seven mountains in the Southwest political zones comprising six states to pray for the victory of Buhari and Osinbajo in the 28 March presidential election.

“We are using this opportunity to call on all pastors who believe that the time has surely come for change in Nigeria to exhort, mobilise, instruct and direct all our members from our churches, numbering 186,000 churches in the Southwest zone to adhere to this divine instruction from God,” he said.

“We shall intensify our intercessory prayers to God so that there will be peace in the nation and that the election will be free, transparent and peaceful. We are asking our archbishops, evangelists, elders, deacons and deaconesses to join hands and make sure that the prayer programme is very successful.”

Reports say that President Goodluck Jonathan is allegedly offering millions of Naira in bribes to some Christian pastors for their support  in the February 14 presidential election.
