Nigerians want financial records of churches, mosques vetted to aid accountability

In spite of the public outcry and controversies that followed the implementation of a controversial code by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) that forced the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, to hand over the church’s leadership in Nigeria to Joshua Obayemi, some Nigerians still believe the financial books of churches and mosques should still be vetted by either the government or an internal mechanism devised by the religious organisations.

Majority of respondents to a poll carried by the Guardian on its website say not-for-profits organisations, such as mosques and churches, should open their books to either the government or their members, ostensibly to aid accountability.

Out of a total of 302 respondents, 43% say the government should have the right to regulate the financial activities of religious organisations while 39% feel only members of the organisations should have such right.

Their views tally with those of religious leaders who spoke to The Guardian’s Chris Irekamba on the Federal Government’s perceived interference in the affairs of the church.

“Government wanting to regulate the affairs of the church can only be interpreted to mean that government wants to take the position of the head of the church, and then dictate to God, which is impossible,” says Elder Israel Akinadewo, Prelate/Supreme Head, Motailatu Church, Cherubim and Seraphim Worldwide.

Though he accepted that some churches have gone beyond their ‘spiritual mandate’, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie says “this does not call for government taking over the affairs of the church, or usurping God’s position.”

The Guardian poll is conducted every week on a variety of topics including but not limited to sports, economy, politics, agriculture and social issues.

Badeh gave me to money build churches, mosques in his village – Witness

A prosecution witness on Thursday told the Federal High Court in Abuja that a former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, gave his company N100 million to build churches and a mosque in Mr. Badeh’s village in Adamawa State.

Mr. Badeh, a retired Air Chief Marshal, is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

He is standing trial alongside a firm, Iyalikam Nigeria Limited, on a 10-count charge bordering on money laundering, criminal breach of trust and corruption to the tune of N3.97billion.

The prosecution witness, Joseph Okpetu, who continued his evidence as PW13, was led in evidence by counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN.

“I constructed a village house for the first defendant, Alex Badeh, between 2008 and 2012. The fixings, features and painting were done in 2012. We also built a mosque opposite the house.

“After the construction of the house, a thanksgiving service was held. We (Havco Nigeria Limited) renovated the church where the thanksgiving took place. My company was also given the responsibility to provide tables and chairs for the thanksgiving,” Mr. Okpetu said.

According to him, between N5 million and N8 million was spent on renovation of the church used for the thanksgiving.

“Apart from the village house, we built a mosque, two churches and a civic centre for skills acquisition in Vintim Village. All these cost N100 million. I was paid in three installments of N40 million, N30 million and N30million.”

Mr. Okpetu further narrated how his firm received N14 million for building a house for the officer-in-charge of the Joint Armed Forces in Mubi, Adamawa State.

He also told the court that he imported materials, plants and equipment for Badeh’s Kantiye Farm in Nasarawa State.

Questioned on his connection to Mr. Badeh’s company, Iyalikam Nigeria Limited, Mr. Okpetu said: “I do not know Iyalikam, but I was paid from Iyalikam Nigeria Limited the sum of N30million in 2015”.

He was also asked about the structure of his company, Dilplast Nigeria Limited.

“Before 2015, the share structure of my company, Dilplast Nigeria Limited, was four million shares to me, three million shares to Alex Badeh (Jnr) and three million shares to Kamtufa Badeh. Now, I own six million shares, while Kamtufa Badeh owns three million and Victoria Okpetu and Architect Dan Williams own 500,000 shares each,” he explained.

Kamtufa, who according to Mr. Okpetu is Mr. Badeh’s son, contributed a house given to him by his father to Dilplast.

However, Mr. Okpetu’s testimony took a dramatic turn under cross-examination from defence counsel, Akin Olujimi.

The PW13 said in response to a question by Mr. Olujimi that he was not stable psychologically when he made his statement at the EFCC.

The response made Mr. Jacobs jump to his feet.

Mr. Jacob exclaimed, pointing to the defence: “I know that the witness is your own.”

At this point, the matter was adjourned to January 25 and 26, for continuation of trial.

Mr. Badeh was charged with allegedly abusing his office as Chief of Defence Staff by using the dollar equivalent of N1.4billion removed from the accounts of the Nigerian Air Force to purchase properties in choice areas of Abuja between January and December, 2013.

The alleged offence contravenes Section 15 (2) (d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended) and punishable under Section 15(3) of the same Act.

Reps to wade into FRCN edict on churches, mosques today

The House of Representatives is expected today to wade into the controversies arising from the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) law, which approves 20 years tenure in office for heads of churches and mosques.

The move to debate the development was brought to the floor of the House yesterday by its Minority Leader, Leo Ogor, who urged members to look into the law, which he said, was stirring up controversy and embarassment for the country.

He, therefore, advised the Federal Government to make the FRCN law clear to Nigerians, as it was not passed by the National Assembly.

Oke commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his quick action in stopping the impending crisis by sacking the FRCN boss and reconstituting the board.

He urged the government to face its duties of providing the needed social amenities for the people instead of dabbling in religious matters.

At a press conference yesterday in Ibadan, the cleric said that while government could regulate the finances of the church, it should not interfere in the tenure, activities or internal arrangements of the church.

He said: “The edict should be repealed. There is a separation between the church and the government, yet the government can regulate their finances but not to interfere in the tenure of the leaders of the church. The law should not just be suspended but be expunged totally.

“Even in the United Kingdom (UK), the government regulates the finances but does not regulate the tenure and internal arrangement. The internal arrangement should be governed by the constitutions of those religious houses. The constitution separates the religious bodies from the government.

Meanwhile, a group, the Citizens Advocacy for Social and Economic Rights (CASER), has called on Pastor Enoch Adeboye to rescind his resignation as the General Overseer (G.O.) of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

A statement issued yesterday by the Executive Director of the Abuja-based human rights group, Mr. Frank Tietie, said CASER would seek a court order to compel Adeboye to reverse his decision should the “holy man of God” refuse to voluntarily do so.

He said the group was acting, not only in the interest of members of the RCCG, but also of the church generally.

Jim Obazee’s sack: Should churches be regulated? – By Ebuka Nwankwo

The anger, as well as surprise, which surrounded the announcement that Pastor Enoch Adeboye was relinquishing his position as the head of the Nigerian unit of the Redeemed Christian Church of God was palpable. Some couldn’t understand why the government was getting involved in the activities of the ‘righteous’.

The revered pastor attributed his resignation to the rules set by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN)—an agency established by an Act of Parliament — on the tenure of heads of all not-for-profit organizations. (This rule stipulates a maximum of 20 years, or a 70-year age limit, for heads of churches and mosques, who have occupied all major governance positions.)

Ordinarily, this would have been a non-issue to many because successors would still have to come from the ‘righteous’ within these churches and mosques, and can never be imposed on them.

Besides, for some organizations, like the Redeemed Christian Church of God, you could argue that such change of baton might not mean much. After all, Adeboye is still the world-wide leader. A bishop can never be as powerful as a pope.

But the leading opposition party took advantage of this confusion. They argued that the intent of such rule was to weaken the church. Even the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) joined in condemning the ‘government’ – it didn’t matter to them that the rule also applied to mosques. (Some members of CAN had earlier contested this rule in court, but lost.)

And the number one culprit, which they wanted people to know of, was the President. He has always been labelled as someone who had an Islamic agenda.

But the President had absolutely nothing to do with this rule. Apparently, noticing the rhetoric being used to cast him in a bad light, and in order to make a point, the President quickly went ahead to fire the executive secretary of FRCN, Jim Obazee.

The Obazee-led FRCN had released a modified code of corporate governance for public, private and not-for-profit organizations last October. While the private sector was required to mandatorily comply, not-for-profit organizations were required to comply or justify non-compliance.

These new codes of conduct had been vehemently criticized: The private sector, even religious organizations, felt the rules were too harsh. Some even felt FRCN had overstepped its bounds by increasing fines and levies for corporate offenders.

Little wonder, therefore, that many saw Obazee’s sack as ‘good riddance to bad rubbish’. He had been accused of buying a house in America after it was alleged that he was used by former President Jonathan to ‘’sack the former CBN governor, Lamido Sanusi’’. A staff of FRCN had accused him of sexual assault and he had been recently interrogated by the EFCC on the finances of FRCN.

But what really are the intents of this code of conduct for religious bodies.

Most churches and mosques are registered with CAC as Incorporated Trustees in Nigeria, just as NGOs are. Thus, assets of churches are placed under the trust and confidence of their Trustees. And unlike a shareholder, a Trustee is not supposed to earn a profit, but expected to promote the objective of such organization.

A corporation status is conferred on Trustees, who could be sued instead of the church or mosque. With this status, churches can go into businesses, such as running schools and hospitals, as far as they are not for profit.

It is important to note that churches and mosques which are incorporated grapple with issues normal businesses do, such as disputes within employees, membership tussles, property disputes, contractual disputes, negligence claims and even outright theft by members.

And the FRCN, just like the Charity Commission in the UK, intends to use codes of conduct to ensure that leaders and founders of churches do not became dictators in their organizations. (The codes set by the Charity Commission in the UK for churches are even more stringent.)

One reason propounded for government involvement in regulating not-for-profit organizations is this: Organizations and individuals who enjoy tax exemptions should be prevented from using their offices to attain excessive benefits for themselves and their families. (There have been many instances where leaders of charities [churches are referred to as charities in the UK] paid themselves outrageous salaries and got involved corruption, despite having the privilege of not paying taxes.)

Ordinarily, religious organization are expected to be ethical but in some cases they have fallen short. Sadly, government – which ought to take examples from these organizations and could overstep its bounds – becomes the only institution left to ensure probity.

And here is the lesson in all these: In order to minimize the interference of government in religious organizations, faith-based organization should come back to the basics, which is nothing but selfless and genuine commitment to the teachings of their faiths.

Government should learn from churches and mosques, and not the other way round.

Avoid Holding Service In Uncompleted Buildings, CAN To Churches

The national leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has commiserated with the people and government of Akwa Ibom State on the tragedy that occured inside the Reigners Bible Church, Uyo at the weekend which led to the death of several worshippers.

CAN advised churches to avoid holding worship service inside a building under construction to avoid a repeat.

In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the body, Rev Dr Musa Asake, lamented the disaster and tasked every Christian to identify with the victims through prayers, gifts and condolence visits.

The statement reads: “We identify with the victims of the tragedy, we pray for their quick recovery as we are asking God to console and comfort all the bereaved. It is very unfortunate that the devil struck when the whole world is getting ready for the celebration of the Birth of the Saviour, Jesus Christ, who came to destroy the work of the devil.

“We thank God that His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, who himself narrowly escaped with his life in the tragedy and we welcome his prompt intervention when he said the state government will hold an inquiry to investigate if anyone compromised building standards”.

“Use your N100M to reinforce security not build churches”, Christian clerics to El-Rufai’s

Christian clerics in Kaduna have faulted the plan by the Kaduna State government to spend N100 million on the rehabilitation of churches and mosques destroyed by armed Fulani herdsmen in Southern Kaduna communities.

They urged Governor Nasir El-Rufai to rather use the money meant for this purpose to reinforce the security of lives and property in the affected areas.

Governor El-Rufai had announced plans by the state government to provide N100 million for the reconstruction of damaged churches and mosques in some communities in Southern Kaduna after the violence unleashed on the area.

During a press conference by the 19 District Church Council (DCC) fellowship of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Church yesterday, the clerics said instead of the state government rehabilitating churches and mosques in the crisis-ridden communities, efforts should be made to secure the lives and property of the people against further attacks by Fulani herdsmen.

The Chairman of the 19 DCC of ECWA Church, Rev. Zachariah Gado, said: “We acknowledged the gesture of the governor in offering N100 million for the rebuilding of churches and mosques destroyed in Southern Kaduna, but we wonder who would worship in these churches since most of the worshippers have fled for fear of their safety or they do not even have homes anymore to live in.”

He said the only way the government could ensure normalcy in Southern Kaduna communities was to reinforce security so that the people could live in peace and return to their normal businesses.

“We appeal to the state government, in the interest of justice, peace and security to respect the wishes of Southern Kaduna and their elected representatives and stop the creation of grazing reserves in the area, especially since this is tantamount to rewarding perpetrators of murder, arson and destruction of property,” he stated.

Kaduna govt donates N100m for rebuilding damaged churches, mosques.

Governor Nasir el-Rufai has donated N100 million to support the rebuilding of damaged churches and mosques destroyed during ethno-religious crisis in Southern Kaduna communities.

Announcing the donation during the unveiling of public apology billboards by five communities from Jama’a, Kachia, Kaura, Sanga and Zangon Kataf, El-Rufai said his government had drafted a bill to set up the Kaduna State Peace Commission in fulfilment of the promises he made in 2015.

He said that the commission, which is expected to be established after the endorsement of the state House of Assembly, would promote harmonious co-existence among all indigenes.

He added: “In recognition of the vital importance of showing concrete manifestations of peace, the government has decided to support civic efforts to rebuild damaged churches and mosques with a seed fund of N100 million.

“The challenge of achieving peace and justice is a complex process that requires imagination, wide consultations, technical support, research and time. I have promised you change. I will not be derailed from the legacy of peace that Southern Kaduna deserves from my generation.“This state belongs to everyone that has chosen to make it home. Let us respect each other.”

Abide by the law, do our duty to uphold harmony and firmly reject division and violence. Today, we are here to launch a public apology billboard, as we grief over the lives sadly taken in the recent violence in the Godogodo chiefdom.

Don’t Upload my Messages on Social Media, Spare Me Insults – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor E.A Adeboye, has pleaded with youths in his church to desist from uploading his messages on the social media, and spare him the torrents of backlash such upload can attract from millions of social media users.

He also begged not to be quoted.

This is coming after the pastor was widely upbraided over his counsel to young men and women concerning marriage.

Recall that some months ago, in a video, Pastor Adeboye warned women, “Don’t marry a man who has no job. Before God gave Adam Eve, he gave him a job.

He said, ‘This is the garden, keep it.’ So when anybody comes to you and say, ‘Sister, thus saith the Lord, you are going to be the star in my firmament,’ ask him — ‘What is your job?’”

In another video, he advised men, “Marry a prayer warrior! Don’t marry any girl who cannot pray for one hour non-stop. Don’t marry a girl who is lazy! If she is lazy when she is single, what will happen if she is married?

Following his messages, many social media users had lambasted him.

The likes of the daughter of Victor Omololu Olunloyo – a former governor of Oyo State, Kemi Olunloyo, whose public criticism of people knows no bounds, called him a lunatic for his alleged unwise advice.

Among others, a former Nigerian Prophet and Evangelist Minister at Windows of Heaven Revival Outreach, London, United Kingdom, Folayan Osekita had faulted Adeboye’s warnings, saying people have their different stories when it comes to marriage.

But months after trolls called him out, Daddy G.O, as Adeboye is fondly called, has begged youths of the church to stop uploading his videos or quoting him on social media.

Speaking during the church’s youth program plenary session themed ‘vessels unto honour’ some days ago, the popular pastor pleaded with the participants to spare him the problem of social media by not uploading the program’s video on YouTube.

He said, “Spare me the problem.

“I’m not talking to you so that you can put me on YouTube,” the pastor pleaded.

Don’t Bring Stolen Money to My Church as Offering – Abuja Pastor Warns Congregation

Sarah Omakwu, senior pastor, Family Worship Centre (FWC), Wuye, Abuja, on Sunday delivered a scathing message to those donating looted money to churches, saying stolen money should not be brought to her church as an offering.

According to transcripts of the sermon, provided Seun Akioye, a congregant, Omakwu said she was not castigating sinners, but she preferred to miss their money and have them make heaven.

She also warned older men against sleeping with younger girls because they are rich enough to tempt the girls. She told such men that their daughters would experience the same.

Omakwu explained that she was not cursing those men but she was praying them out of their depravity.

“Any money that you cannot explain to God, don’t bring it to this church,” she said.

“If you are in the civil service and you have stolen money, please don’t bring the tithe to this church; I say this in Jesus name. You cannot do all that and then think you come to church and say a short prayer, that God will forgive you because of Grace.

“In church today, you see Christian ladies dress and there is no difference between them and prostitutes. What harlots wear to the bar, you wear to church in the name of Grace; nobody can persecute you because the devil has you already.

“If you are a prostitute here today, I do not condemn you. You are my sister; you are a daughter of Abraham and your body belongs to the Lord. I know some girls do this because they have bills to pay and you the man, you have the money but you cannot help them unless you sleep with them.

“You the man who takes advantage of those young girls, what you give to them, your own children will have it too. Bible says to rejoice with the wife of your youth and let her breasts satisfy you. Stop all these strange breasts everywhere. You may say, Pastor why are you cursing us? No, I am not cursing you; I am praying you out of your depravity.

“If you have stolen money, don’t bring it to this church; I repeat it in Jesus name. Someone says pastor, we will miss the money. Yes, I will rather miss your money and have you make heaven. Christians should be a standing rebuke to the world.”

Nigerian Gay Pastor, Jide Macaulay says ”To be a Homosexual is Honourable, a Gift From God”

Rev. Jide Macaulay, Nigeria’s first openly gay pastor and the founder of House of Rainbow Fellowship, first gay church in Nigeria wrote this on his Instagram page yesterday:

To be a homosexual is honourable, a gift from God. It is who I am. God makes no mistakes. Knowing the truth as a gay christian is liberating and gives me the most joy of my freedom.

I have paid the price for lying to be heterosexual. Pretending to be who you are will only harm you. EVERYONE was hurt, my father, mother, wife, son, my siblings, in-laws, friends and relatives etc.

I was FORCED to lie. I justified these lies with religion, culture, tradition and law.

I lied to myself for all of my adolescence, I lied to my family and friends. Because I didn’t know any better.

I lied to my ex-wife because I was afraid of telling the truth.
I lied in my prayers asking God to cure me of homosexuality instead of helping me to come to terms.
My religious belief and dogma nearly killed me. I wrongly married a woman and badly hurt everyone.
I suffered emotional and psychological breakdown and through it all I survived. – Reverend Jide Macaulay

Borno Government To Rebuild Churches Destroyed By Boko Haram

Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno has promised to rebuild churches and other structures destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents in Lassa as he visited liberated communities in the southern senatorial zone of the state.

“We will rebuild churches, private and public buildings destroyed by the insurgents,” Mr. Shettima said when he accessed the level of damage in Lassa in Askira-Uba Local Government Area on Wednesday.

He expressed shock at the magnitude of destruction, saying that the government would commence the rehabilitation in a short while.

“We are going to rebuild churches and others structures destroyed in Lassa and other communities around.

“We are saddened by the large scale destruction in Lassa which is a predominantly Christian community,” Mr. Shettima said.

He added: “We are doing this because we have a duty as a government to ensure fairness, equity and justice in all our endeavors,” he said.

“We believe that the Christian community has rights to be served like its Muslims counterpart, since we have rebuilt Mosques destroyed in other places, we must rebuild churches too.”

Mr. Shettima said the churches would be rebuilt before Christmas ahead of this year’s Yuletide.

Nine Nigerian men accused of dealing drugs from Mountain of Fire church in Cambodia sentenced to 5 to 8 years in prison

Nine Nigerian nationals, including their ringleader still at large, and a Cambodian woman were sentenced to five to eight years in prison and fined a total of 126 million riel ($30,663) for drug trafficking at Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday, September 12th.
Nine out of the 10 accused were arrested on January 8, after being found in possession of nearly a kilogram of methamphetamine powder that was intended for sale around Phnom Penh. Their ringleader, Obieze Kennth Uche, also known as John remains at large. The convicts include, Tony Chukwuonye, two brothers, Okorom Favour and Okorom Kizito Chinedu, Francis Nnamdi, Simon Maduka Ukandu, Sunday Nwabuisi, Nna Mezie Victor, Izuchukwu Chukwuma.

“The court is ordering the arrest of Obieze Kenneth Uche,” Judge Khy Chai said. “After the verdict comes into effect, all nine foreigners, after serving their jail terms, have to be deported out of Cambodia and prevented from entering Cambodia for the next five years.”

On the last day of the trial, it was revealed that only two out of the 15 samples collected tested positive for meth, with 4 and 5 percent purity, respectively.
In the same hearing, Cambodian national Morm Vonyong, 25, admitted to delivering drugs to customers several times in exchange for $100. Her attorney, Lay Longdy, said he will be appealing the verdict.

Cross River State Governor’s Wife Campaigns Against Women Giving Birth In Churches Instead Of Clinics

Twenty-seven-year-old Ransom Linus Martin, four months into her first pregnancy, has come to the Land of Promise church near the city of Calabar for prayers, but it is also where she will be giving birth.

She is not alone in her choice, but campaigners are trying to end the practice which is widespread in southern Nigeria.

The stocky woman, wearing a knee-length lace dress and a deep yellow beret is blunt about why she, and other women, opt for a church birth with a traditional birth attendant rather than going to a
maternity clinic.

“They do fasting and prayer here, and if you are pregnant you need to go to the place where there is God and there is daily fasting and prayers.

“At the hospital there is nothing like prayer. They don’t pray. They only give you injections. But as you pray at the church, you get closer to God.

“On the day of your delivery, God will help you and you will deliver successfully.”

Ms Martin believes that the church and God will offer more protection than modern health facilities. Unfortunately, there are reports of many women dying while giving birth in the facilities provided by a church.

Dr Linda Ayade, the state governor’s wife, is so concerned about the possible dangers of a church birth that she is campaigning to ban the practice, and is encouraging women to instead go to health centres to deliver their babies.

She has been going from village to village across the state, trying to persuade expectant mothers.

Why Lagos Shut Down 53 Churches, Mosques, Hotels

The Lagos State Government has shut down no fewer than 53 churches, mosques and hotels across the state over noise pollution and other environmental offences.

Some of the sealed worship centers were accused of converting residential apartments to places of worship, which according to the government has been constituting nuisance to other residents.

The General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, Adebola Shabi, after the exercise, said the agency had been inundated with complaints from residents and neighbours of the shut facilities.

He said, “In recent times, most of the petitions kept coming to us. It was as if we are not working at all. That was why we shut the facilities.”

Shabi explained that some of the affected facilities had been served abatement notices before the eventual closure, adding that the growing rate of establishment of worship centers called for serious regulations, especially in the areas of noise generated across the state.

He said some of the noise-making worship centers were usually makeshift structures.

Hundreds Of Muslims Convert To Christianity To Win Asylum In Germany

Hundreds of Muslim migrants  are converting to Christianity hoping that act would give them more chances to win an asylum in Germany.
German officials have begun registering 20,000 and distributing migrants and refugees across the country who have arrived in Munich in over the weekend. The majority of migrants are from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and civil-war-torn Syria. Some of them, mostly Iranian and Afghan asylum seekers have changed faiths at the evangelical Trinity Church in Berlin.

Many claim true belief prompted the move, but the decision undoubtedly improves their chances of
staying in Germany. Moreover, conversion to Christianity by a Muslim in Afghanistan and Iran could
be punished by death or imprisonment, that’s why refugees believe that Germany wouldn’t deport them back home.

Pastor Gottfried Martens from the evangelical Trinity Church recognises that some convert in the hope it will give them chance of winning asylum – but for the pastor motivation is unimportant. According to Martens, many are so taken by the Christian message that it changes their lives and only about 10% of converts do not return to church after christening.

After Shutting Down 40 Religious Houses, LASG Shuts Down 22 More, 3 Companies

Barely three weeks after the Lagos State Government through the State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA shut down 40 religious outfits across the state, the agency today shut down 22 more and three companies.  According to them, the religious houses have been causing noise pollution in their environment, while the said companies risk causing hazards to human health.

The General Manager of LASEPA, Adebola Shabi has however said the sanctioned churches would begin to pay fines ranging from N50,000 to N100,000 before they will be re-opened and enforced to operate under the law of the State.

Two Senior Pastors Continue Their Bloody Fight Over Who Will Be General Superintendent

The shameless leadership tussle in the Assemblies of God Church is getting out of hand. Reports suggest that there would have been another bloodbath recently but for the timely intervention of the police.

Vanguard reports that factionalization of the church has resulted in crisis which has been brewing in the church as two senior Reverends, Professor Paul Emeka and Dr Chidi Okoroafor, have been at loggerheads, each laying claim to be the overall leader of the church, qualified to bear the designation General Superintendent, GS.

It was also gathered that the case has been taken to the court and is presently in the Supreme Court, awaiting the final arbitration but while awaiting the judgement, members of the 27 Mount Street Parish, Enugu engaged in free-for-all centering on the crisis over who takes control of the parish which is believed to be lucrative.

Reverend Nathaniel Udeze had reportedly stormed the Mount Street parish with letters of posting and other court documents empowering him to be installed as the new pastor of the parish that morning, but he was vehemently resisted along with his team of loyalists by the current Resident pastor of the parish, Reverend Amaechi Agbo who, along with his loyalists, accused Udeze of being an “intruder”.

This did not go down well with the visiting pastor, whose men allegedly swung into swift action as Udeze insisted on taking over since he had been officially posted there by the leadership of the church under Rev Paul Emeka.

It took the timely intervention of the police who raced to the place, to avert further crisis and the church was locked up.

This was not the first time members of the congregation would engage in such a show of shame It has already happened around March this year and also last year, hell was also let loose at the national headquarters of the church located in Enugu when the two warring factions engaged in a bloody clash that left no fewer than five persons seriously injured, while four cars parked at the premises were burnt beyond recognition during the free for all that ensued.

On how the party averted bloodshed during the fracas, the state police command’s image maker, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, said: “please let me correct one impression. We (Police) did not lock up any church. Ours is to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order. What happened was that we intervened and averted what could have resulted to bloodshed.

“If  not for our timely intervention that Sunday, it could have been a different story. When efforts were made to bring the two factions to amicable settlement, which was not forthcoming, we gave our advice, so they locked it up and the keys are with them not with us (Police). But for now, we are monitoring the place to ensure that no unpleasant thing occurred there.”

Jos Explosions: Angry Protesters Torch Two Churches – Police

The Plateau State Police Commissioner, Nasiru Oki, has said two churches were on Monday set ablaze by angry persons protesting bomb explosion at a mosque Sunday night in Jos.

The police boss made the disclosure Monday evening at the police headquarters in Jos, the state capital.

While briefing journalists on the police’s investigations, Mr. Oki said no arrest had been made so far.

He also noted that no life was lost in the church incidents but property allegedly worth millions of naira, were destroyed.

Mr. Oki also said that 42 people were killed in the twin bomb explosions on Sunday – 20 in the first blast at a restaurant and 22 others in the second at a mosque.

50 people were hospitalized for various degree of injuries and are being treated in hospitals within Jos, he added.

He also presented an undetonated locally-made device recovered from the first scene and quoting police bomb experts, Mr. Oki said the according to police bomb experts, the device was capable of destroying a complex.

Free Man : Delta State Policemen Rescue Pastor From Kidnappers’ Den

A joint team of police operatives from Otu-Jeremi, Ughelli South Local Government Area and NNPC area in Warri have rescued a pastor of a new generation church in Effurun from kidnappers’ den after he had spent some days in captivity.

It was gathered that the victim was rescued from a bush along ECN road, Otu-Jeremi following a tip-off.

The victim, our correspondent also learnt, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen at about 8:30 pm, along Keme Lane, off Jakpa road in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.

It was reported that the victim was driven away in his ash-coloured Toyota Corolla and taken to an unknown destination.

State police commissioner, Mr. Alkali Baba Usman, said that based on intelligence report, detectives stormed the hideout of the hoodlums, and sensing that police were closing in on them, the suspects escaped into the bush and left the victim, who was rescued unhurt.

He said one white Mazda with registration number KMR216AA and five live cartridges were recovered from the hideout of the suspects.

CP Usman said efforts are being made to track down the suspects and to recover the victim’s vehicle which the suspects stole.

CAN Begs Osun State Churches To Donate Food, Money To Workers Due To Unpaid Salaries

The Christian Association of Nigeria has appealed to church leaders in Osun State to rally food aid and money to assist Osun State civil servants who are going through hardship because of the delay in the payment of their salaries for the past seven months.

The Chairman of CAN in Osun State, Rev. Elisha Ogundiya, said this in an interview with journalists in Osogbo on Tuesday, after the meeting of the executives of CAN in the state.

Ogundiya said that churches should go beyond feeding their congregations with spiritual food, especially at this time but should also rally round to offer them succour.

He said, “I talk about Christians and Muslims and others who are passing through hardship in Osun State because of the non-payment of their salaries for months.

“Workers are passing through hardship and some who have retired have died because of lack of money to take care of themselves. We Christians have to emulate the action of the Good Samaritan in the Bible, who assisted somebody he should not assist ordinarily.   So, we should assist our brothers and sisters.

“I urge church leaders and local government chairmen in attendance to go back home, contribute food and other items to assist all these people who are in need.

“To the government, we are appealing to the government to look for whatever means to make life beautiful for these people. We know that the problem is not peculiar to Osun State alone, but this is lingering too much. The state government should do something urgently to put smile on the faces of the workers.”

Why Deeper Life Turned Down President Jonathan’s Request To Visit Church During Campaign – Insider

President Goodluck Jonathan’s bid to ‘worship’ at Deeper Christian Life Ministry during the presidential election campaign hit the rocks as pastorate of the church outrightly turned down his request, DAILY POST has learnt.

It was gathered that President Jonathan, who worshiped in most churches across the country before the March 28 presidential election, was denied entry into Deeper Life, when he wrote authorities of the ministry to inform them of his visit last January.

Jonathan had during one of his visits to Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, explained why he was embarking on ‘presidential church tour’.

According to him, “Traditionally, we have the State House Chapel where I worship every Sunday. If
we do not have the chapel, probably I would have been here one or two times before this time.

“It is only during the Christmas period, maybe two Sundays before Christmas and the Sunday before and after New Year that we sometimes close the chapel, and allow people to participate in their church services and that time, I do go round.

“This year, we have decided that from now onward, until I leave the State House, every last Sunday of the month, I will go to different churches.

“Yes, that is the State House Chapel presided over by a chaplain and from time to time other men and women of God come to preach to us.

“But I feel that it is good for me to go round and continue to appreciate what our brothers and sisters have been doing”.

However, DAILY POST learnt that the Special Adviser to Jonathan on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abata had on January 22, written the authorities of the church through the office of its spokesman, Pastor Segun Babatope to inform them about his visit but the leadership of the church refused to acknowledge the letter.

According to an insider, when Babatope informed leaders of the church about the development, many of them kicked against it, saying that the ministry is not a platform where politicians come to campaign.

Jonathan was originally billed to visit Deeper Life on February 8 after leaving Redemption Camp, but he had to proceed to the Lord’s Chosen when he discovered the church was not ready to welcome him.

The highly-placed source said the church’s decision to honourably turn down the request was because of how some sections of media misquoted Bishop David Oyedpoe of Winners Chapel during Jonathan’s visit to the church.

Oyedepo was quoted as threatening to open the gate of hell to anybody who campaigned against Jonathan.
The alleged statement triggered social media war as many were lambasting the preacher for using his church to campaign for politicians.

However, Oyedepo denied making such statement.

The source said, “Leadership of the ministry was very careful not to allow politics or politicians dent the image of the church or pastor Kumuyi. The presidency had invited him severally for meetings with the president, but he would wave it aside.

“When Abati wrote the church to inform them about Jonathan’s visit, precisely January 22, the church leaders deliberated upon it and decided to turn it down”.

Asked if Kumuyi was aware of the decision, the insider said, “of course, but he has no final say. Though he founded the church, he does not decide how such thing is being handled. He had to allow leaders of the church to handle it. And when it became obvious that they were not ready to welcome the president, Daddy Kumuyi had to accept their decision”.

It was gathered that the president had to leave Redemption Camp for Rev. Lazarus Mouka’s Lords Chosen in Ijesha when he discovered the church was not ready to welcome him.

In Chosen, he warned politicians against using church to campaign.

The President said, “I would not say much because this is not a good period for those of us who are contesting for election to talk so much in church. I do not want to be accused of coming to campaign in churches because I believe that we should not campaign in churches. We may discuss with people but not to use the platform of the church to campaign”.

Rev. Christopher Akinola: Of Pastor Bosun’s Call, Buhari’s ‘Jihad’ And Christianity In Nigeria

Few months ago in Nigeria, around the time the constitutional conference was going on in Abuja, an audio message by a certain Pastor Bosun Emmanuel, who represented the Christian Association of Nigeria at the conference, began to make the rounds within and outside Nigeria. The audio message, amongst a number of things, described General Mohammadu Buhari, who was running for President, as an Islamic fundamentalist who, if elected, would Shariarize Nigeria. It also shared that, like in Turkey (ancient Ephesus), Christianity in Nigeria is on its way to obliteration through Jihad. Bosun claimed that Christians and Christianity are in trouble because Muslims are strategizing to Islamise Nigeria and that Christians should be vigilant. Bosun’s voice reverberated as the message received massive listening and distribution. The leadership of the RCCG, a mother Church to the assembly that hosted Bosun had since dissociated itself from the message. Most Christians who received the message frantically peddled it some, giving it more millage. But alas, it was a mere propaganda that ought to have been discountenanced, partly. Most people, including Church leaders who are ignorant of Church history, will tell you that this propaganda was correct. Those who know better will cry foul and correctly call it the ranting of an alarmist that it really was. History says it all. Bosun, in any case, was correct to share that the Nigerian Church, rather than focus on raising disciples, is busy raising “millionaires”. He added that the Nigerian Church needs repentance because it has gone the wrong way. Nothing can be truer. He also said that the Church in Nigeria is at war and needs to foster unity. Correct! He continued as he presented videos of some gory details of massacred Christians in the north eastern Nigeria by boko haram. This little write up is to educate and inform our people, correcting the incorrect parts of Pastor Bosun’s message and emphasising some truthful things he shared.

Indeed, a careful perusal of history reveals subtle and obvious relevance of the Nigerian Church in today’s world. The Gospel of Christ and the message of Scriptures have been considerably spread globally by Nigerians. This is hardly contestable because out of every four black Africans, one is Nigerian. Nigerians are everywhere human beings live, even in Siberia and they usually migrate with their religious beliefs handy. Most Christians become emergency missionaries, therefore. These unending emigrationsare largely due to many years of gross misgovernance and mismanagements of national resources. If properly appropriated and managed, Nigeria can comfortably fend for a large portion of Africa. But then, the opposite is the case. A large number of her citizens struggle to live on less than a couple of dollars a day. Things have been pretty bad! The process and eventual results of the just concluded presidential elections would attest to the fact that it will never again be business as usual in our Nigeria. Change is here!

Although, my people have become the scumof many societies of the world, yet millions of  my people remain very proud and, if you may, arrogant Nigerian green-passport carrier for many reasons. Firstly, we are very communal. We are a warm people who welcome strangers and visitors into our space, gladly sharing our means, even our meagre means. We are never xenophobic! Even when Ghanains were sadly excused from Nigeria way back in 1983, there were no losses of lives or properties, to the best of my knowledge. Many foreign nationalshave since made Nigeria their base, expatriating proceeds of their sweats (or through connivance with our leaders) to their respective countries.Secondly, my people have contributed immensely to the GDP of societies where they live around the world.Ask around, there is always a Nigerian lecturing in some University,Technicon, High school, or doing legitimate businesses all over the world. And ofcourse, like in all societies, a lot of bad examples of our people avail.

Now, not a few Nigerians were wrongly sensitised and alarmed by Pastor Bosun’s “revelations”.You see, like hordes ofseverally mispreached sermons, majority of Christians in my country usually overlook the seven most important letters authored personally by Jesus Christ. A crash course at the feet of Bro Wole Owolabi, handed me a re-evaluation of Bosun’s message. For many reasons, these seven letters, comprising Chapters 2 and 3 of the Book of Revelation, are probably the most important part of this book for Christians.Although, there were many other Churches at that time that would seem to be more significant than the seven that Jesus addressed: the Churches at Jerusalem, Rome, Galatia, Corinth, and Antioch for example. Why did Jesus select just these seven: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea?

Investigations by Graham Brodie explain at least four levels of application to these letters: Firstly, it had a local application. These were actual, historic Churches, with valid needs corroborated by archaeological discoveries. Secondly, it was admonitory as each of the letters appears with the key phrase, “Hear what the Spirit says to the Churches”. Note the plural, Churches. Each of the letters applies to all Churches throughout history. If we understand the sevenfold internal structure, the uniquely tailored messages, and the specific admonitions in each of the letters, we discover that any Church can be “mapped” in terms of these seven composite profiles. Thirdly, homiletic: Each of the letters also contains the phrase, “He that hath an ear let him hear…” Doesn’t each of us “have an ear”? Each letter applies to each of us. There are some elements of each of these seven “Churches” in each of us. Thus, this may be the most practical application of the entire Book of Revelation. Fourthly, it was prophetic. This, by far, is the most amazing application. These letters describe, with remarkable precision, the unfolding of all subsequent Church history. If these letters were in any other order, this would not be true!It is on this historical backdrop of these letters as expounded byWole Owolabi and Graham Brodie that we must analyse the message Pastor Bosun brought to the Nigerian Christians, warning them against a Buhari presidency as conduit for Islamic agenda.

The first letter was to the Ephesus Church. This EphesianChurch (present day Turkey) is representative of the great Evangelistic Church of the first century. The word Ephesus means “The Desired One”, which aptly describes the Church as Jesus sees it. Like the early days of the Nigerian Church, the Church in Ephesus was full of spiritual vitality and strength. However by the end of the 1st century, as it could be said of the Nigerian Church of today, the people had left their first love (for Christ and each other). Self-aggrandisements and personal kingdom building had taken the driver’s seat. Jesus warns them to repent or He would remove their “candle stick” from its place.  This was a threat as well as a promise from the Lord. The warning still stands today. In my opinion, this kind of caution against greed in the Church from a Pastor Bosun to the Nigerian Church would have made moreimpact, rather than raising unfounded alarm of an impeding “jihad” from a Buhari Presidency.

The second letter was to the SmyrnaChurch. This represents the persecuted Church of the second and third centuries. According to Brodie, Satan tried everything to wipe the Church out by sheer force. During this period of history, the Church was persecuted under ten different Emperors with the final ten years being the worst. Jesus says that this Church, although poor in worldly terms was rich in faith. It is of note that the word Smyrna comes from the word “Myrrh; Death” which was used as a fragrant perfume of “offering” in Old Testament times. This seems to aptly describe the Church during this time in history, as its members were being “offered” as living sacrifices. However, during this time the Gospel spread faster than at any other time in history. This is exactly the history of the Nigerian Church. In the days of yore, the Nigerian Church was not attractive, neither was it rich, but it was pure. Well, at least purer than whatever parody we see around today! Contrary to what obtains today, Nigerian Church history clearly reveals how impoverished the Church was in stuffs-material but rich in stuffs-spiritual. In those days, the vocation of the Clergy was neither attractive nor rewarding. Things have since changed since the prosperity gospel commenced in this country. Affluence of the Church and clergy has escalated while character and purity has nosedived. Bro Bosun addressed this anomaly in the Church, but missed it when hewent on a clarion call to crucify a Buhari presidency.

Even so, the letter to the Pergamos Church attracts even greater interest. After this time of persecution, Satan changed his tactics. Instead of trying to wipe out the Church, he made “Christianity” acceptable through the conversion of the Emperor Constantine around 312 AD. In gratitude for the reprieve from persecution the Church adopted many pagan rituals and feast days as its own. The Church also became centralized in Rome acting as an extension of imperial authority. How does this apply to the Nigerian Church today? The “pilgrimages” that some notable fathers of faith in Nigeria made to Aso Rock at the instance of the Jonathan administration is unprecedented. The “favours” derived thenceforth has increased the “prosperity” of the respective religious leaders. The Christian Association (CAN) and Pentecostal Fellowship (PFN) leadership became apolitical while the pulpit and pew suffered. Those without such “breakthroughs” are named as not “arrived”.Interestingly, the word Pergamos means “Mixed Marriage”, which is exactly what happened to the Church during this time. The Church got elevated out of persecution and got entangled to the political power of the State. In light of this we must remember Jesus’ words that “His kingdom was not of this world” (John 18:36). The Church, which is His Body was not meant to have political power while this world remained. So the original vision of the Church was polluted from this time forward by the work and actions of men. However, as in all cases, there have been several exceptions. Some Pastors in Nigeria just won’t stoop that low as to count it a privilege to be aguest of the President. They seek greater honours;honoursthat money, University licences, aircrafts or oil rigs can’t purchase! Again, Brother Bosun has refused to address this perfidy by the Church leaders in Nigeria, rather he calls Buhari a jihadist. Indeed! A jihadist who has had more Christians as domestic staff than Muslims!

Next was the missive to the Thyatira Church. This Church was commended by Jesus Christ for its works of faith, love and patience, but the Church had allowed itself to be corrupted by false teachings and immoral acts. Jesus refers to this as the woman “Jezebel” (See 1 Kings 16:29-33) and He is ready to act against these falsehoods. The woman is to be cast into affliction, those who are allied with her are to suffer great tribulation and her children are to be put to death. The word Thyatira means “Semiramis” or “Continual Sacrifice”. This describes the state of the Roman Church which places great emphasis on “personal sacrifice” in order to “please God”. This whole concept is quite foreign to the truth that Jesus has done all that is required for us to be free from sin. Today, almost all preachers in Nigeria teach congregants to “sow” seeds of faith in order to receive largesse from God. This error has grossly escalated at present. Giving gifts to God is admirable, but giving to God so as to retrieve favour is arrant fraud. We must sow seeds out of love and not out of greed. Unfortunately, the Nigerian Church seems to have raised more of greedy people than lovers of God. However, in this Thyatira church are those who have not accepted these false teachings. Of them Jesus Christ requires nothing, except they cling to the truth until He comes. If we look through the history of Christianity, we see many faithful Saints who clung fearlessly to the truth of Jesus Christ. Many of these lost their lives at the hands of the “Church”.The “Church” killed Christ, anyway! I would have expected a Bosun to raise alarm against this error rather than raising a battle cry against a Buhari presidency.

The next letter was to the Church in Sardis. This is the Church which was resting on its original works to gain favour with the Lord, but had fallen asleep. Jesus warns them to wake up and strengthen what remains (before it also dies). The word Sardis means “Remnant” or “Escaping Ones” and seems to refer to the Church of the reformation. But rather than continuing in the faith, the Church had stopped and fallen asleep. The reformed Churches broke away from the Church of Rome, yet in many ways they modelled themselves on the Roman example, particularly in their structure and their association with the governments of this world. They had made a start, but had not finished the work. It is no longer news that many breakaway Nigerian ministers, aside very few, have continued to perpetrate thevery things they rebelled against. If you ask me, this would have made a better focus for Pastor Bosun rather than raising angst against a Buhari presidency.

The church in Philadelphia also featured on Christ’s mailing list. This is the Church that Jesus loves. It was obedient to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), and Jesus had set an open door before them. Their motivation was their love for the Lord and their fellow man. This was the great missionary Church of 1750 to 1870. Philadelphia means “Brotherly Love”, which describes well the Church which so loved its Lord and its fellow man as to send missionaries to nearly every nation on earth within the space of 100 years. Frontline ministries in Nigeria today such as the Church of God Mission, CAC, Foursquare, CAPRO, Rhema, CCC, Deeper Life, C&S, Roman Catholic, Living Faith, RCCG, MFM and some others have sent hundreds of Missionaries across Nigeria, Africa and the globe. This is highly commendable. Jesus promised to keep them from the time of trial that was to come on all the earth. He also said He was coming quickly. The teaching that Jesus was coming back was revived during this time of Missionary sending. Not much of this has been heard of recent. Brother Bosun ought to have done better than instigating Christians against a Buhari presidency.

The LaodiceaChurch were the recipient of the last mail. This is the last Church age. It is the half-hearted Church, not recognizing how poor it really is. Jesus has nothing good to say about it. In fact He is very displeased with it. This is a very worldly, proud Church, increased in wealth and influence, but spiritually bankrupt. Again it has not separated itself from the World system. Because Jesus loves them so much He rebukes them so they will wake up to themselves. Toward the end of last century there was a great outpouring of understanding of scriptural prophecy. Earlier this century there was a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit in many parts of the world. There is also a great “expectation” about the return of Christ. One further event which has occurred during this time is the restoration of the nation of Israel. The word Laodicea means “People Rule” and it is a time of trial for the Church. The Church has been tried by the forces at work in the world and found wanting. To those who overcome Jesus will grant the right to sit on His throne and rule the nations. We are living in the Laodicean age right now. Jesus is calling us to repent of our worldly ways and return to Him. Echoing this call ought to have been the focus of Pastor Bosun’s message, but he went ahead to decry a Buhari presidency.

Back to Bosun’s reference to the Church in Turkey(ancient Ephesus). According to Wole Owolabi, the truth of the historical matter which Bosun, either evaded or is ignorant of was that God took the candlelights out of the Turkish Church by using the Ottoman Turks in order to achieve what the Lord prophesied. It has nothing to do with Islamic Jihad at all. The Church got what it deserved. It was God’s arrangement through prophecy.

Now, answer this simple question. Between Buhari and Jonathan, who has done more evil to the Nigerian Church? Certainly, Jonathan did more evil. See, the evil President Jonathan did to the Nigerian Church, a Buhari can’t even achieve anything close through Islamic Jihad. All an Islamic jihad can do is probably purify us through lots of persecutions. That’s all. We would become better. But what the other guy, Jonathan, did was worse. He went from Church to Church, politicising the Church of Christ, giving Church leaders money, bastardizing their already comatose consciences. All of them taking some money here and there and further dividing Church against one another. “You got money but I didn’t” kind of scenario. The clergy conspicuously and shamelessly campaigning, canvasingand harassing congregants to vote for Jonathan. Really? I thought ministers are to teach people to be led of the Spirit.? Hence we said it would be very unethical for Jonathan to return as President, and if he does, it would be because we didn’t pray. The Nigerian Church fathers prophesied a Jonathan victory but the ordinary people ( Muslims, Christians, traditional worshippers and atheists) prayed to God to deliver them from Jonathan and the Church leaders. We knelt down and he didn’t win. They prophesied and he lost. Jonathan was the evil that further wrecked the Church’s already dented reputation; he and all those prophets who collected money. Some of our Church leaders just played into that political ditch. The political correctness that our dear Pastor Bosun clamoured for was exactly what the Church in Turkey did. Distributing and competing amongst Bishoprics, finding relevance with and dining with the State. You see, when you politicise the Church, you take away its candlelight. So, Pastor Bosun and his camp were the ones setting the downfall of the Church. They forget that Christianity is relational. If mutual relationship is removed from Christianity, we are no longer Christians. We become club members! Whatever divides us therefore cannot be right. Ironically, Boko Haram is doing a better job in uniting the Church than Jonathan. In Boko Haram, we find a common enemy. In Jonathan, we see a divided Church.

Rather than become enemies of those who do not share our faith, Christ taught Christians to love them. There are better methods of preaching the Gospel than raising false alarms against a Buhari presidency! I am an ardent Christian, but in my view, an honest Muslim who hates graft and corruption would make a better Commander-in-Chief than a Christian who believes stealing is different from corruption. What do you think?

2015 Prophecies , 8 Men Of God , Different Revelations, Who Should We Believe ?

If by now, you have  read at least two, three or more of the several prophecies for 2015 from the different Nigerian men of God, then you are probably as confused as we are.
These men of God hear from the same God but they come up with slightly different visions for Nigeria this year – but who are we to judge?
Their prophecies revolved around the Nigerian economy, Ebola, the upcoming general election, Aso Rock intrigues, the entertainment industry, death, death and more death.

PASTOR-ADEBOYE-3
Kick starting the trend is the highly respected General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God who revealed his at the cross over night.

He revealed that the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease, which has killed over 7,000 people so far, will finally die, he however warned that God said the world should pray against “massive calamities, massive earthquakes and strong hurricanes and typhoons.”

On the February elections, he said “Unfortunately, because it is election year, I can’t tell you all that God told me about Nigeria. But I will tell you this: “By the end of the year, many will say ‘all is well that ends well.’”

Not quite agreeing with Adeboye, Prophet Iginla who is based in Abuja, says Ebola will return to Nigeria.

He released his 2015 prophecy during a special service in his church at Kubwa, Abuja days ago.
On the February Elections: No matter how powerful or well organized 2015 election is, it will be faulted.  I am not a politician nor belong to any political party, I am just speaking God’s mind. The person sitting on the seat might not be perfect, but he will retain the seat. It’s not guess work. Howbeit, it will be a battle between the lion and the  tiger…Shortly after the election, especially on the night of the election, there will be great vandalisation. I see cars being burnt, lives killed.
GEJ’s health and death in Aso Rock: President Jonathan will win, but he has to pray about his health and so many political blows. I pray the two people that enter the Aso Villa will leave together. That’s why we should pray for the woman beside the president. The president and wife should pray that the first lady would finish the tenure together and not losing one before the end of their tenure.
On fake pastors: Also, many men of God indulging in voodoo or occultism, mixing white with black will experience God’s judgement in 2015. Great judgement in the sense that they will be exposed and lots of things will happen that will be the end of such ministries.   I saw a very popular man of God who is highly respected mourned.
The reason is that his wife will be called to glory. It will be a great shock to him because he is highly respected. I am not permitted to mention his name.
Plane crash: I see great politicians and ministers in one aircraft. Three prominent faces were among them, but the plane crashed. They should be careful of traveling in group, irrespective of where they are going…Specifically, Kogi State Governor should pray to survive 2015. I saw him struggling for breath.
Entertainment Industry: A very popular musician, young artiste who sings secular songs should pray against death. He is like someone trying to sell his soul to the devil and it resulted to death. I am not permitted to mention his name.
ASUU: I see ASUU strike and it will be long and will shake the system, but restored later. I see Russian economy under attack by a strange hand. They have to pray so that a strong country like that won’t be brought low prowling for survival.
Death: I see a former president of Nigeria giving up the ghost this year. And people trooping down to his home state for burial. His candle light has burned out already and nothing we can do to it.

The General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr D.K Olukoya, on the other hand spoke in parables. He described 2015 as a mysterious year, caution year and dribble year.

“I will speak in parables. This year is going to be a mysterious, cautious and dribbling year, so, you will have to find the solutions instead of diagnosing the problems carried by the year.”

Moving on, founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Oke-Afa, Lagos, Primate Elijah Ayodele Babatunde,  had quite alot to say but he had a similar prophecy with Prophet Igina.

General elections: This year’s election will throw up a lot of issues. President Goodluck Jonathan will do everything to win a second term, however, he needs 14 days prayer to have a peaceful reign to enable him complete a second term. Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega will be confused during the polls. There will be several gimmicks to cajole the INEC to rig the election.  E-voting will not work. There will be ballot box snatching and stuffing during the election.
GEJ’s health and death in Aso Rock: The President should also commit his health and that of his wife to prayer. Jonathan is in the midst of enemies who are after his life.
Economy: The stock exchange will rise in the early part of the year. Effect of devaluation of naira will continue till around August. Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, despite her World Bank background, will not be able to make appreciable impact on the economy. Some banks will collapse and one of the dead banks will be resuscitated.
Entertainers: Journalists and Nollywood stars need prayers against sudden death. National secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) will experience crisis.
ASUU: Some universities will be shut because of cultism and some Vice Chancellors will be queried.
Plane Crash: We need to pray to avoid plane crash in Lagos, Abuja and Kano airports. Presidential jets should be sanctified to avoid artificial disaster.
Ebola:  There will be fresh cases of Ebola in the year, let those in the health sector double their efforts.
Death: We should pray against death of one of the outgoing governors, a first lady and communication guru.

1-Tunde-Bakare-2
Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly, while speaking during the church’s crossover service solely prophesied on the Chibok girls.

“The Chibok girls will be returned this year; some people will say ‘they are just using religion to deceive themselves. How will the girls be rescued?’ You will see. I didn’t say it, it is what God said and I believe it.”
And then prophesied joy!
“Whether you are from the East or from the West or from the North or the South, you will experience joy in 2015. Other nations will say ‘how did they do it.’ It will be indescribable joy. The nations of the earth will testify. I bring good tidings of joy to every part of the nation…”
Acclaimed man of God, Apostle Johnson Suleiman  had lots of bad news for the Nation.  One of his prophecies was that 2015 election would be a replica of June 12. He said Jonathan should be prayerful as there are plans to kill him and going international, he said Queen Elizabeth will pass on this year.
Queen Elizabeth: Britain needs prayers because of her Queen.
GEJ’s health and Aso Rock: I see president Goodluck Jonathan coming back but troubles….Patience Jonathan needs serious prayers.
General Elections: 2015 presidential election will be rigged, marred in violence and end up in court case.2015 election is another June 12. The man who truly won will not govern or rule.
Men of God:  A great Pentecostal man of God been called to glory. A popular Abuja pastor needs serious prayers. I saw mourning. Prophets who deceive people, collects their properties, charge money, will face great judgment this year. A great man of God whose first name begins with 3rd letter and Surname with 15th letter needs serious prayers. I saw serious crisis and crying. Please let’s pray for him.
Economy: I saw the Naira falling greatly. It became N200 (two hundred naira) to 1$ (a dollar).
Entertainment Industry: Three popular musicians will die; one of them is a young boy.
Plane Crash: Pray against three major Air disasters between February and October.
Oh by the  way, he had a word for er, El Rufai.
“El Rufai should go and sit down. For abusing Jesus, he will not win Kaduna election.”

tb josh
T.B Joshua of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos, on his part, declared 2015 to be ‘the year of good morning’.

“If you are expecting a New Year, you must be pure in heart,” he stressed, reminding the faithful of Jesus Christ’s words in Matthew 5:8. “If not, the troubled year of 2014 will continue in 2015,” he warned.
“No matter what this coming year brings, if you are more of God, your trials are the soil in which your faith will flourish,” he enjoined the congregation.
He stressed that the freedom the Bible speaks of in John 8:36 is spiritual not physical, insisting that a ‘free spirit,’ was needed for Christians to enjoy peace throughout 2015. “This liberation of your spirit is all you need to have the best year,” he stated.
And then, Bishop Oyedepo of Winners chapel crowned it with his good news!
The year 2015 will be a year with clear distinctions, he began.
He maintained that giants would rise up in all sectors of human endeavour adding that there would be a sudden rise of giants in Zion.
“In 2015, nobody will doubt those who serve God; It will be clear that we are only in the world, not of the world; in 2015, my God will wipe away all your tears; There shall be no occasion for mourning or weeping; Throughout 2015, you are not permitted to bury anyone in your life because there shall be no more death; in 2015, some things that cause you sorrow will be far from you and in 2015, you will not need any medication to be healthy.
There shall be a rise of many giants – giants in all sectors of human endeavor; Men like nations will rise in the year 2015; Men that will command attention of many nations shall arise in 2015 and God has brought us into the realm of heaven on earth, where men will live like angels”
