North Korea’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ Mocks Obama, South Korea

“I smacked my head on the bathroom floor,” a bloodied and bandaged President Barack Obama says, “as I was so shocked by North Korea’s hydrogen bomb detonation!”

This is satirical political comedy, Pyongyang style.
A recent episode of the snappily named “The stage of optimism that Songun presented — Volume 11,” which airs on state-controlled Korea Central Television (KCTV), lampooned the US leader and “oppressed” South Koreans ahead of the North’s nuclear warhead test this month. So, Mr. President, you were testing the hardness of your skull while the North was testing its hydrogen bomb?” an actor playing Obama’s secretary asks him.
Later in the show, Seoul’s envoy to the US is described as a “bitch on the run,” while her Japanese counterpart is called a “monkey.”
According to NK News, a specialist website focused on North Korea, “this is the first time the North has explicitly used US and South Korea-related satire in its comedy.”

PDP Mocks APC Over Railway Launch

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday reacted to Tuesday commissioning of the Abuja – Kaduna Standard Gauge Rail Line Project by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement by spokesperson of the Ahmed Makarfi led caretaker committee, Dayo Adeyeye, the main opposition party accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of appropriating and taking credit for the project which it noted “was

conceptualised, awarded and constructed by the PDP administrations.”

The former Minister of State, Works, under the Dr Goodluck Jonathan administration said, the rail project was conceptualised by

the Obasanjo administration and successive PDP administrations of late President Umaru Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan commenced work and built the project to 99 percent completion, saying the only work done by President Muhammadu Buhari on the project was yesterday’s commissioning.

The party further said “the usual rhetoric of the APC had always been that the 16 years of PDP’s rule were years of waste and wondered whether the railway project was also a waste.

“The truth which history will bear out is that the PDP in its 16 years of rule successfully completed numerous projects that substantively changed the infrastructure landscape of Nigeria.

“Every one of those 16 years were years of great productivity with remarkable achievements. This is very much unlike the APC which has already wasted one full year without even scratching one square meter of ground anywhere in the country”.

“If morning truly shows the day, then we can say that Nigeria is now really in the era of waste and stagnation.”

APC Mocks Obanikoro’s Ministerial Nomination

Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr Joe Igbokwe, questioned the rationale behind the nomination of Senator Musliu Obanikoro, wondering what value the President was expecting from minister who recently resigned from the Federal Executive Council, FEC.

The party added that recycling people will certainly not take the nation to greater heights. The party said: “Is Musiliu the only Lagosian qualified to serve in the Federal Executive Council? As a minister, Obanikoro recently left the Jonathan cabinet to pursue a failed governorship ambition.

“Why is it that the President has turned the FEC to a games’ room and not for serious-minded personalities? Is the nomination Jonathan’s way of placating the former minister, who lost the PDP governorship ticket in primary that returned more ballot than the number of accredited delegates?
