We Will Actualize Biafra Without Shooting A Gun– IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, worldwide and its Directorate of State, DOS has said that it would not achieve Biafra’s sovereignty through warfare and bloodshed but will rather achieve it through globally accepted procedures.

It said the United Nations has a set of approved self-determination processes and hence, urged the Nigerian Government and its military to be civil and play by the globally accepted approaches in their dealings with self-determination seeking groups like it.

In a statement by IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Emma Powerful, it said “we are aware that some individuals fear that the Biafra actualization project will turn bloody like done in the 1967 and 1970, but we want to assure them that it will not be so because the international law gives room for the restoration of Biafra through the stipulated lay down processes that will be applied without shedding blood.”

“Biafran by nature have respect for human life. We are not war-mongers like as known by the world unlike the people who are persecuting us who have no respect for human life.”

“Biafrans do not like to shed blood, and the actualization of Biafra will not change us. What happened in the past was the extreme pushing of the Biafran to the wall, but times have changed, we must achieve Biafra without shooting a gun.”

Prosecutors in Tulsa, Oklahoma, have filed charges against the white female police officerBetty Shelby, who shot and killed unarmed black man, 40-year-old Terence Crutcher who had his hands up on September 16. She has been charged with first-degree manslaughter. Dashcam and aerial footage of the shooting showed Crutcher walking away from Shelby with his arms up in the air. The Tulsa County District Attorney’s office said Officer Shelby ‘reacted unreasonably by escalating the situation’ by ‘becoming emotionally involved to the point that she overreacted.’
Crutcher’s twin sister, Tiffany, spoke to reporters outside of the Tulsa County Courthouse on Thursday and said that the family is happy Shelby has been charged. She said that they hope the district attorney prosecutes the case and hopefully obtains a conviction. Urging Tulsa residents to be patient as the case works its way through the justice system. She also added that Shelby is innocent until proven guilty.

A warrant has been issued for her arrest and arrangements are now being made for her to surrender. If convicted, she faces between fours years and the maximum sentence of life in prison.

At Least Two Dead In Florida Nightclub Shooting

At least two people were killed and 14 others wounded in a shooting early Monday at a Florida nightclub, US broadcaster NBC reported.

Police confirmed that the incident occurred at Club Blu in Fort Myers, which US media said was holding a party for teenagers.

A “person of interest” has been detained at another location, the station said.

The Fort Myers Police Department reported that while two individuals were fatally shot, “at least 14-16” more sustained minor to life-threatening wounds during the episode, which occurred at approximately 12:30 am (0430 GMT), according to NBC.

A nearby home and vehicles were also shot at, resulting in one minor injury, CBS news reported.

Police said officers were “actively canvassing the area looking for other persons who may be involved in this incident,” according to a statement obtained by NBC.

The shooting comes just six weeks after an attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida that left 49 dead in the worst gun massacre in recent US history.

Police killed the gunman, Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old US citizen of Afghan origin, after a three-hour standoff.

That rampage and other recent shootings have renewed debate about gun laws in the United States.

Security Operative Quizzed For Shooting Inside Aso Rock

The Presidency is currently investigating a case of security breach that occurred inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The incident, our correspondent learnt, involved one of the security operatives attached to a delegation of the Danish Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Kristian Jensen, who visited Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday.

A source, who pleaded anonymity, said that the incident occurred shortly after Jensen, who was accompanied by the Ambassador of Denmark to Nigeria, Mr. Torben A. Gettermann, and other Danish embassy officials, scaled through the last security checkpoint.

He said the security operative who was in mufti attempted to follow members of the delegation into the venue of the meeting with his weapon.

Based on the rules, security men attached to the Administrative Reception, where the last screening always takes place, were said to have told him that he could not go beyond the point with his weapon.

The source said the man told them that his weapon was not “loaded.”

He said, “When he was told to drop the weapon, the man told those manning the security point that it was not loaded.

“He then removed the weapon. The security guys initially thought he wanted to submit the weapon to them.

“Surprisingly, the guy pulled the weapon and fired it to prove that it was empty.

“Shocked at the development, the security guys on duty quickly rose and got their rifles ready for action.”

Another source who witnessed the incident said he was about running out of the reception to avoid stray bullets hitting him when he discovered that the situation had quickly been brought under control.

He said while Jensen and members of his delegation made their ways to the Conference Hall of the Vice President’s office, the security operative was quickly disarmed.

He was said to have been detained and quizzed for several hours by top security officials attached to the Presidential Villa.

He was reportedly released several hours after the delegation he escorted to the Presidential Villa had left.

“He was taken into a room where he was drilled for hours. He was only released at the close of work in the evening,” the source added.

Another Black Boy Shot by US Police (Watch Video)

A video was released on Wednesday showing the police officers involved in the killing of the 12-year-old African-American boy who was carrying a fake gun in Cleveland, Ohio.

Tamir Rice was shot by officers on Saturday and was rushed to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead on Sunday morning.

The officers involved said the boy refused to raise his hands and tried to pull the fake gun from his waistband outside the Cudell Recreation Center in Cleveland.

However, the video released by the state police on Wednesday clearly shows that one of the officers shot the boy seconds after he got out of the patrol car.

The video, containing stuttered images with no sound, shows the boy walking and pointing his fake gun in different directions. He then enters a gazebo before officers arrive in their patrol car. The first officer, Timothy Loehmann, gets out of the car and shoots the boy instantaneously.

Deputy Cleveland Police Chief Edward Tomba said the release of the video should not be regarded as a way to explain actions taken by the officers or the young man.

“This is not an effort to exonerate. It’s not an effort to show the public that anybody did anything wrong,” said Tomba. “This is an obvious tragic event where a young member of our community lost their life. We’ve got two officers that were out there protecting the public that just had to, you know, do something that nobody wants to do.”

The incident has sparked anger among the residents of the community. The US is already reeling from the aftershocks of a grand jury decision over the death of another black teenager in Missouri which sparked massive protests across the country over the past two days.

Canadian PM Vows to ‘Fight Terror’ After Ottawa Attack

Canada’s prime minister has condemned the “brutal and violent” shooting of a Canadian soldier in Ottawa and a hit-and-run that killed another soldier earlier this week, saying the incidents are grim reminders that Canada is not immune to terrorism.

“But let there be no misunderstanding, we will not be intimidated,” Stephen Harper said in a televised address to the nation late on Wednesday.

Harper said the attacks would not deter Canada from working with international allies to fight terrorism around the world, and vowed to go after those who are involved.

“This will lead us to strengthen our resolve and redouble our efforts, to fight against the terrorist organisations who brutalise those in other countries with the hope of bringing their savagery to our shores,” he said.

Harper spoke hours after a gunman shot and killed a soldier guarding a war memorial then stormed the Canadian parliament before he was killed.

The prime minister was holding a meeting with party members in the parliament building as the gunfire erupted. Members of the parliament were also inside the building when the attack took place.

Canadian authorities and the media have identified the suspected attacker as Michael Zehaf-Bibeau.

The 32-year-old suspect was deemed a “high-risk traveller” by intelligence services, and according to media reports he recently had his passport confiscated.
