DSS Alleges Plot To Disrupt Activities In Abuja By Wike Supporters

The Department of State Services (DSS) has alleged plots by some protesters, suspected to be sponsored by Rivers state governor, Nyesome Wike, to disrupt activities in the Federal capital.
Accordinf to a statement signed by one Tony Opuiyo of the DSS, the Service has “uncovered a sinister plot by the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike to disrupt machinery of governance in strategic Federal Government agencies by provoking a violent breach of peace in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, yesterday, 22nd December, 2016.
“To achieve this, the Governor had secured the services of one Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, a Personal aide to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to mobilise some hoodlums to execute their plan.
“The aim of the plot is to cause mayhem, a complete breakdown of law and order and cast the security agencies and the Federal Government in bad light. It is also intended to divert public and international attention from the ongoing Police investigation into the unwholesome role played by the Governor and some of his cronies in the violence that trailed the re-run election in Rivers state which resulted in the gruesome murder of civilians including the beheading of DSP Mohammed Alkali and some of his colleagues as well as the brutalization of INEC staff who failed to do the bidding of the governor.”
The DSS also alleges that “in furtherance of this plot, protesters are to besiege the National Human Rights Commission, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), National Assembly, the Nigerian Army and Police Headquarters as well as British High Commission, US Embassy and the UN Secretariat, Abuja; all in an effort to raise false alarm that Rivers state was under siege of security agencies during the elections.”

Ayade’s Appointees and supporters abandon Him: Gives fresh condition for support.

On Sunday the 9th of October 2016 political appointees and supporters of Ayade were called to Chief Eugene Ake’s Calabar residence to shore up the dwindling support for Ayade in cross river state and his Obudu home town.

In the said meeting the political appointees and supporters of Ayade dwelt on the failures of the governor and called for a withdrawal of support for Ayade unless the governor retraces his steps and takes actions to improve their welfare. Instead of building support for the governor, a delegation was sent to the governor to raise some issues as a condition for their continued support for the governor.

The issues raised include: payments of outstanding debt for past and present political appointees, poor governance, absence of governance in the state. Wastage occasioned by the governor’s frequent travels and signing of MoUs targeted at buying time and hypnotising people with unrealistic promises, interference in the functions of appointees by co-govenor Frank Ayade and other relatives and in-laws of the governor, no impress, no votes, no equipment for the appointees to do their job, revitalization of local government and payments of debt owed council chairmen and councillors.

The appointees warned that the governor must change or they will join those attacking him to bring down the obviously insensitive government of Mr. Ben Ayade.

There is an adage that once a ship wants to sink, even the rat jumps out. Now that the governor is sinking, the appointees ought to be all out defending the governor if all was well with them or if they are fully in support of the governor.

Recently there seems to be a silence of appointees and less defence of the governor even in social media. Rather than increase support for the governor, the appointees have rather taken to  being informants for Ayade’s critics. It is confirmatory of the dying support for the governor.  In fact two of the governor’s appointees called me out yesterday to give me a drink and supply me with facts to publish in public.

Regrettable, Cross river is losing all it’s tourism potentials under the watch of Mr Ben Ayade. The obudu mountain race is a dead dream, Tinapa is moribund,  obudu cattle ranch is growing weeds with cable cars no longer functioning. Our educational system is comatose with the governor owing WAEC large sums of money.

The international conference centre is at the stage it was after commissioning. The Shanghai farms is folding, the Ugep institute of management technology can no longer pay it’s staff with lectures resigning their jobs. The garment factory is yet to be commissioned, after much talk about employment and the lifting of more than 20 years ban on employment, those recruited in garment factory and green police have been deceived with their employment revoked.

The much hyped monorail is yet to kick start. Recently the national sport festival that was zoned for hosting in Cross River State has been withdrawn to Abuja by the minister of sports.

Amidst all these more monies are diverted for the building of a 100 unit housing scheme in the governor’s Obudu home town. Mobile courts are in the increase to extort monies from poor citizenry to feed the governor’s greed and primitive spirit of wealth acquisition.

Enough is enough! We must all rise to condemn the open robbery of the state by Ayade’s administration

Nigeria Police Attack Zakzaky Supporters- Report

Nigerian police have attacked a protest rally by Shia Muslims demanding the release of Nigerian Shia leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.

The Thursday demonstration was met by police action, which included the security forces firing teargas canisters at supporters of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), led by Zakzaky, local media reported.

Late last year, the Nigerian military carried out a crackdown against IMN members, accusing them of blocking roads and trying to assassinate Chief of Army Staff Tukur Buratai in the northern city of Zaria. The movement says it was simply holding a religious procession.

Mukhtar Jarmajo: Buhari, His Non-Blind Supporters And The Economy

I am not disturbed by the semi-lettered. I am bothered that many a lettered (specifically, self acclaimed non-blind Buhari supporters) who know economics better than myself have refuse to agree that the present economic problems of Nigeria are a direct consequence of past profligacy of government officials and today’s collapse of oil prices.

And they know better than me that there’s no immediate solution to economic problems as ours. Still, they know that the president is doing a lot in bringing lasting solution to the problems.
Even while they knowingly refuse to know, none of them use any made in Nigeria product to grow the Naira. They don’t use Peugeot that is assembled in Kaduna let a lone Innoson that’s made at Nnewi. They have refuse to establish as small as a pencil or toothpick factory.

Meanwhile, when the territorial integrity of a nation is at stake, I never expect he who sees with his eyes to use his tongue to complain about the economy. Someone on Facebook, a PhD holder for that matter disappointingly said the ONLY thing Buhari has done since May last year was curbing the insurgency.

In December last year, I said on the BATV that by the mere fact that we are in our homes not IDPs Camps, we should be grateful to God and thank Him for Buhari. I said in bold terms that were Jonathan still in power, the story would have been entirely different.

On the same program, I noted that even if Buhari could only return the Nigerian system to normalcy in 2yrs we will appreciate. Here you are in a nation where certain people had held the country hostage for 16yrs and in the period virtually destroyed Nigeria’s government extant bureaucracies.

Apart from this, state governors are not helping matters. Most of them are not far away from noise makers. Only few of our governors are aware that they have a micro-economy to manage. Many of Nigeria’s state governors aren’t only waiting for grants from Abuja, they are also waiting for grants from Abuja to siphon.

I am not holding brief for anyone and despite that I may be labeled a Buhari blind apologist, I insist we remain as fair as possible on all matters and no matter who is involved.

In fairness to the Buhari regime thus, it has good intentions and plans and its making concerted efforts to save us from post-colonial slavery except for the fact that everyone is bound to make mistakes and therefore stand to be called upon to corrections. Let’s support and pray fervently for the success of Buhari – for, his success is ours.

KickandFollow.com: 5 Players That Have Knocked Out The Super Eagles From Cup Competitions

The Super Eagles of Nigeria is a team to reckon with in world football. The team has participated in 5 world cups, but since its debut in the USA 94 world cup the team has not gone past the round of 16.

KickandFollow.com takes a look at 5 players that have upset the Super Eagles in the World cup and qualifying campaign.

  1. Roberto Baggio

bagiio

Nigeria put up a sensational performance under head coach Clemens Westerhof  to top group D on goal difference after defeating Bulgaria  3-o and Greece 2-0. Despite losing to Argentina 2-1, the super Eagles still progressed as group winners. The Super Eagles were then drawn with Italy in the knockout stage. The match ended in a drawby full time with goals coming from Emmanuel Amuneke in the 25th minute and Roberto Baggio in the 88th Minute.

It was a very feisty game as the Eagles were caged by the Azzurri for most parts of the game, the referee also dished out 9 yellow cards and 1 red card; as Gianfranco Zola was sent off.

The Azzurri had to rely on the Vision of Baggio who was open in the box after recieving the ball from Roberto Mussi, and the Italian wasted no time in slotting the ball past Peter Rufai in the 88th minute.

The Match had to go into penalties after extra time, with Baggio being the hero once again, as he sent the gallant eagles crashing out of the tournament.

  1. Henrik Larsson

lars

The former Celtic and Barcelona Forward sent the Festus Onigbinde led eagles crashing out of  the Korea/Japan world cup.

The Eagles had already lost to Argentina courtesy of a Gabriel Batistuta goal but needed a win against the Scandinavians to qualify. Unfortunately, the Super Eagles lost.

A superb goal from Julius Aghahowa put the Eagles ahead but two quick fire goals from the diminutive forward sent Nigeria out of the competition, as England defeated Argentina to book a qualifying spot.

The next match for the Eagles against England was dead rubber as England and Sweden had Qualified. Sweden took the top spot on goal difference and went to the knockout stage where they were defeated by Bruno Metsu’s Senegal.

  1. Paulo José Lopes de Figueiredo

The Angolan forward scored in the draw between Nigeria and Angola in the 2006 world cup qualifiers. Nigeria had already lost the first leg in Angola by a lone goal courtesy of an Akwa Strike.

The second leg was played in kano and JJ Okocha got on the score sheet. However with 60 minutes on the clock, Figueiredo equalized, and Angola progressed to the world cup finals at the expense of Nigeria based on the head to head rule.

  1. Didier Drogba

Despite the disappointment of missing the 2006 world cup, the eagles channeled their energy to the Nations cup and performed extremely well under the tutelage of Coach Austine Eguavoen.

The joy of the Eagles was however cut short by the Magnificent Didier Drogba, who pounced on a loss of concentration between the Nigerian centre backs and slotted the ball in between the legs of Goal-keeper Vincent Enyeama to send the Eagles out of the semi-finals in the 2006 African cup of Nations.

The Ivory Coast striker pounced on a lack of concentration between the Nigerian centre backs and slotted the ball in between the legs of Goal-keeper Vincent Enyeama, to send the Eagles out of the semi-finals in the 2006 African cup of Nations.

  1. Paul Pogba

The French Maestro got the better of the Super Eagles in the Knockout round of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, when he got on the end of the score sheet in the 79th Minute of the game. Sadly the match was done and dusted with an own goal by Joseph Yobo in Stoppage time which signaled the end of the Eagles adventure in Brazil.

Supporters Of Biafra Protest Kanu’s Arrest

Supporters of the Radio Biafra broadcaster, under the umbrella the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, resident in Rivers State have stormed the city of Port Harcourt with a heavy protest demanding the unconditional release of their leader and presenter, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.

The protesters numbering over 5000 who were split into seven groups appeared peaceful, although, chanting war songs also called for the creation of the sovereign state of Biafra.

The agitators, mainly business men and women of Igbo extraction, said it was an act of impunity for the federal government to apprehend a man who is championing the cause of his people.

The IPOB supporters claimed that they were not part of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, adding that the IPOB is fighting true course for the emancipation of the Biafrans.

Speaking, one of the coordinators of IPOB, Mr. Chidiebre Aguodu said, “The reason for this protest is that our able chairman, the father and founder of IPOB worldwide has been held by President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Marwa Leads Supporters Back To APC

A week after his formal resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, a former military administrator of Lagos and Borno States and Nigeria’s ex-Envoy to South Africa, Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd), on Wednesday returned to the All Progressives Congress with thousands of his supporters across Adamawa state.

A statement issued in Abuja by Marwa’s media aide, Bello Zubairu, said,  “the decision to return to the APC was jointly reached at a well attended meeting today (Wednesday) between Marwa and his supporters under the aegis of ‘The Marwa Organization.’”

He quoted Marwa as reminding the gathering that they had no reason to leave APC before but for the fact that thousands of TMO members were denied registration into APC in Adamawa State when the party was newly formed.

Marwa told his supporters that, “All efforts to seek redress through the appropriate channels were to no avail, thus leaving thousands of you, TMO members, without a party. I therefore  urge you all to forgo your grievances and let bygones be bygones because with President
Muhammadu Buhari in the saddle, such impunity won’t happen again.

“Nigerians and all elected and appointed officials across the country should support President Buhari and work for positive change in Nigeria.”

Fayose, Supporters Jubilate As APC Lawmakers’ Tenure Expires

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has called out his supporters to rejoice with him on the streets today over the expiration of the term of the 19 All Progressives Congress, APC, who had been at loggerheads with him. Expressing relief at the end of the tenure of the lawmakers yesterday, the governor said the end of the term of the APC controlled legislative House was now an opportunity for him to get into the act of governance.

The next House of Assembly is entirely dominated by Fayose’s Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members, who in an interview with Vanguard pledged total cordiality with the governor. The APC lawmakers had on April 4, 2015 issued a notice of impeachment to Fayose, citing cases of abuse of office and gross misconduct.

The impeachment plot against Fayose also took a new dimension on Monday when the Speaker, Adewale Omirin and his colleagues made moves to return to the Assembly Complex and continue with the impeachment move but efforts of the lawmakers were, however, met with resistance as PDP members blocked all entry points into the state in order to avoid human and vehicular movement into the state.

Calling out his supporters to come out today in a state broadcast yesterday, Governor Fayose said: “I want to thank the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members, commercial drivers and motorcyclists, market men and women and citizens of this state for their continued support for me while the face-off lasted.

“With the expiration of their tenure, there is relief for me and my administration, and it is now time to perform my duties as governor of the state. “In view of my travail in the hands of the outgone lawmakers, reprieve has now come to my government and I can now feel like a governor.
