Fan protests may force me out of Arsenal – Wenger

Arsene Wenger admits an ongoing revolt among Arsenal fans will have an influence over his decision whether to leave the club at the end of the season. This comes as the Gunners have offered star midfielder, Mesut Ozil, a £280,000-a-week deal to stay in London.

Wenger’s position at the club came under renewed pressure on Tuesday after a humiliating 5-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich. The 10-2 aggregate defeat saw them eliminated at the last-16 stage for the seventh consecutive season.

Gunners’ supporters dissented against the Frenchman before kick-off, with an estimated 200 fans marching in protest against Wenger outside the stadium. The mood only soured further as the evening went on.

Wenger has an offer to extend his stay at the Emirates and insists he will hold off on making a decision until the end of the season. But, for the first time during his 20-year spell as manager in north London, he now admits the sight of fans turning on him could force him out of the club.

“I don’t know, its difficulty to judge [supporters], I have worked hard for 20 years to make fans happy,” he said speaking to reporters ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Lincoln City.

“When you lose a game I understand they are not [happy]. I don’t want to judge that. I said many times, you have to accept many opinions.” When asked if the rising tension between the club and supporters will have an influence over his decision whether or not to sign a new contract, he responded: “Yes, it will have influence. It may not be most important fact but you consider it, of course.

Ozil could earn around £280,000-a-week if he decides to extend his contract at Emirates. He is currently the highest earner at Arsenal with wages of around £140,000-a-week plus bonuses.

Arsenal signed Ozil from Real Madrid for a fee of £42 million in 2013 and the German has had a mixed career in England so far.According to Daily Mirror, the 28-year-old midfielder is stalling on his contract extension because he believes he can get more money at another club. Ozil has 15 months left on his current deal and could leave the club at the end of this season.

It is a similar issue with Alexis Sanchez as well. The Chilean winger has been offered wages of £200,000-a-week, but the former Barcelona star is holding out for more.

With Arsene Wenger’s future also in doubt, it seems that a massive exodus at Arsenal is definitely on the cards this summer. The French manager is out of contract at the end of this season and has not signed an extension yet.Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League table and will be looking to finish in top four.

FULL VERSION: Read Mikel Obi’s emotional farewell letter to Chelsea fans

Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has bidden Chelsea fans goodbye after 10 years with the London side.

On Thursday, Mikel signed a three-year, £140,000-a-week deal with Chinese Super League side Tianjin TEDA, and the move was confirmed on Friday by Chelsea.

The 29-year-old is one of a select band of five foreign players in Chelsea’s history to have reached the 300-game landmark, others being  Petr Cech, Didier Drogba, Branislav Ivanovic and Gianfranco Zola.

He was a mainstay of the Chelsea squad that won the UEFA Champions League in Munich in 2012, won the FA Cup four times, the League Cup twice, and the Premiew League twice.

In total, Mikel played 372 times for Chelsea, scoring six goals.

Ahead of his departure, the Super Eagles captain wrote a moving letter to Chelsea fans

THE FULL LETTER

To my Chelsea family,

After ten years, 374 appearances and eleven trophies, it is time to say goodbye.

Where do I begin? I joined Chelsea as a 19-year-old kid from the Norwegian Premier League, making my debut in the Community Shield. I say goodbye as a champion of England, a champion of Europe, and proud captain of my national team.

To play in the Premier League, the best league in the world, is every professional player’s ambition. But to play for Chelsea, to become part of the Chelsea family, to work with some of the best managers and players in the world, has truly been an honour.

Every achievement I have been part of in my time at Chelsea holds a special memory: my first goal, against Macclesfield in 2007 (even though there were only five more after that!). The nail-biting end of the 2010 season – securing the title on the last day, scoring a record 103 goals in the process, and winning the FA Cup a week later. Didier’s extra time winner against Manchester United in the 2007 FA Cup Final. Beating two of our biggest London rivals in League Cup finals. Winning the Europa League in Amsterdam, with one of the last kicks of the game.

Then there was Munich. We were desperate to make up for the disappointment of the 2008 final, but trailing with two minutes to go, against Bayern, in their own stadium, it seemed that once more luck was against us. But that night, with lions on our chest and the fans behind us, we fought. Up popped Didier, the rest is history, and to date we’re still proudly the only team in London with a European Cup.
None of this would have been possible without the wider club’s support. To Mr Abramovich, the club’s staff, coaches, physios, and to the managers I played under at Chelsea, I want to say thank you.

But my biggest thanks must go to the Blues fans. You brought me into the Chelsea family, you sung my name, and were there with us every step of the way. Thanks to your support, on nights like in Munich, you made the impossible possible.

As you will know, I haven’t featured as much this season as I would have liked, and at 29 I still have many years in the game ahead of me. With this in mind, I feel now is the time to seek a new challenge. I’m delighted to be joining Tianjin TEDA in China, at a time that the Chinese Super League is really taking off, and I look forward to helping Tianjin TEDA continue to grow both on and off the pitch in the next few years.

To everyone at Chelea – goodbye, and thank you. You will always be part of who I am, and I wish you the best of luck. I could not be happier to be saying goodbye with the club back where it belongs – top of the league.

Keep the Blue flag flying high!

Mikel John Obi

Government also constituted a Local Organising Committee to ensure a successful hosting of the match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

He said that the committee would be coordinated by veteran sports journalist and FIFA Technical Officer, Paul Bassey.

Edem said that measures had been put in place to ensure that there were no lapses.

Edem said: “As far as we are concerned, there will be no excuses for failure because we have learnt our lessons from the last AFCON qualifier played in Uyo.

“We have put every arrangement in place to ensure they don’t reoccur again.”

Edem, who is also the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Youths and Sports, said sales of tickets would begin on Wednesday at designated spots within Akwa Ibom State and other parts of Nigeria.

He also said that 200 personnel would be deployed to ensure the safety of fans.

According to him, supporters clubs of local teams in the state will also be mobilised to compliment the Nigerian Football Supporters Club to cheer the Super Eagles to victory.

Edem said: “As far as Akwa Ibom state is concerned, there will be no margin for errors for this weekend’s qualifier.

“We are confident that Uyo will host all the Super Eagles home matches for the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.”

Nigeria currently leads their group in the Russia 2018 African qualifiers after a 2-1 win in Ndola against host Zambia last month.

A 23-year-old man, Sylvester Onakpobe, has been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly impersonating a Nollywood actor, Michael Ifeanyi, on social media and defrauding his fans.

The suspect was nabbed by operatives attached to the Maroko Division in Victoria Island following a petition filed by the action on August 17.

He was alleged to have used the actor’s name and photograph on Facebook to collect huge sum of money from unsuspecting persons under the guise of organising a film festival.

Frank Ocean Thanks Fans In Note Following Blonde Release

It’s been a good weekend for fans of Frank Ocean, who has released two albums since Thursday — but it’s been a long wait, one he vaguely acknowledged in a note posted to his Tumblr.

“I had the time of my life making all of this,” he wrote. “Thank you all. Especially those of you who never let me forget I had to finish. Which is basically every one of ya’ll. Haha. Love you.”

By “all of this,” Ocean’s referring to visual album Endlessreleased Thursday, and Blondea collection that dropped Saturday. He also released a Boys Don’t Cry magazine at pop-up shops in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and London Saturday. A car-themed excerpt from the magazine is now available on his Tumblr.

These records are the first Ocean’s put out since 2012’s beloved Channel Orange. He’s been teasing new music for over a year now, and Channel Orange producer Malay Ho recently addressed the holdup in a Reddit AMA

“To be fair, art cannot be rushed,” he said. “It’s about making sure the perfect aesthetic for the situation has been reached, to do that, takes constant tweaking, trial and error… That goes for any creative [situation].”

Endless is now available to stream on Apple Music, while Blonde is available both to stream on the service and for purchase on iTunes.

Kanye West’s Fans Begin Crowd Fund To Get Him Out Of Debt, See How Much They Have Raised So Far

During one of his many recent Twitter sprees, Kanye West claimed that he’s currently in debt for $53 million, and asked Mark Zuckerberg to invest $1 billion in his ideas. Though Mark hasn’t yet expressed interest in this plan, Kanye’s fans are now attempting to come to the rescue via crowdfunding.

Earlier this week, Jeremy Piatt set up a GoFundMe page called “Get Kanye Out of Debt,” with the goal of his fans becoming Kanye’s own modern-day Medici family. “We must open our hearts and wallets for Kanye today,” Jeremy writes. “Sure he is personally rich and  can buy furs and houses for his family, but without our help, the true genius of Kanye West can’t be realized.”

Thus far only 388 people have donated, for a grand total of $3,793, so it might be a while before Kanye gets his full $53 million.

KickandFollow.com: 5 Players That Have Knocked Out The Super Eagles From Cup Competitions

The Super Eagles of Nigeria is a team to reckon with in world football. The team has participated in 5 world cups, but since its debut in the USA 94 world cup the team has not gone past the round of 16.

KickandFollow.com takes a look at 5 players that have upset the Super Eagles in the World cup and qualifying campaign.

  1. Roberto Baggio

bagiio

Nigeria put up a sensational performance under head coach Clemens Westerhof  to top group D on goal difference after defeating Bulgaria  3-o and Greece 2-0. Despite losing to Argentina 2-1, the super Eagles still progressed as group winners. The Super Eagles were then drawn with Italy in the knockout stage. The match ended in a drawby full time with goals coming from Emmanuel Amuneke in the 25th minute and Roberto Baggio in the 88th Minute.

It was a very feisty game as the Eagles were caged by the Azzurri for most parts of the game, the referee also dished out 9 yellow cards and 1 red card; as Gianfranco Zola was sent off.

The Azzurri had to rely on the Vision of Baggio who was open in the box after recieving the ball from Roberto Mussi, and the Italian wasted no time in slotting the ball past Peter Rufai in the 88th minute.

The Match had to go into penalties after extra time, with Baggio being the hero once again, as he sent the gallant eagles crashing out of the tournament.

  1. Henrik Larsson

lars

The former Celtic and Barcelona Forward sent the Festus Onigbinde led eagles crashing out of  the Korea/Japan world cup.

The Eagles had already lost to Argentina courtesy of a Gabriel Batistuta goal but needed a win against the Scandinavians to qualify. Unfortunately, the Super Eagles lost.

A superb goal from Julius Aghahowa put the Eagles ahead but two quick fire goals from the diminutive forward sent Nigeria out of the competition, as England defeated Argentina to book a qualifying spot.

The next match for the Eagles against England was dead rubber as England and Sweden had Qualified. Sweden took the top spot on goal difference and went to the knockout stage where they were defeated by Bruno Metsu’s Senegal.

  1. Paulo José Lopes de Figueiredo

The Angolan forward scored in the draw between Nigeria and Angola in the 2006 world cup qualifiers. Nigeria had already lost the first leg in Angola by a lone goal courtesy of an Akwa Strike.

The second leg was played in kano and JJ Okocha got on the score sheet. However with 60 minutes on the clock, Figueiredo equalized, and Angola progressed to the world cup finals at the expense of Nigeria based on the head to head rule.

  1. Didier Drogba

Despite the disappointment of missing the 2006 world cup, the eagles channeled their energy to the Nations cup and performed extremely well under the tutelage of Coach Austine Eguavoen.

The joy of the Eagles was however cut short by the Magnificent Didier Drogba, who pounced on a loss of concentration between the Nigerian centre backs and slotted the ball in between the legs of Goal-keeper Vincent Enyeama to send the Eagles out of the semi-finals in the 2006 African cup of Nations.

The Ivory Coast striker pounced on a lack of concentration between the Nigerian centre backs and slotted the ball in between the legs of Goal-keeper Vincent Enyeama, to send the Eagles out of the semi-finals in the 2006 African cup of Nations.

  1. Paul Pogba

The French Maestro got the better of the Super Eagles in the Knockout round of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, when he got on the end of the score sheet in the 79th Minute of the game. Sadly the match was done and dusted with an own goal by Joseph Yobo in Stoppage time which signaled the end of the Eagles adventure in Brazil.

Popular Ghanaian TV Host, Nana Aba Resigns After “Online Photo Theft” Saga

This is the news currently making waves on Ghana’s blogosphere. TV3’s Nana Aba Anamoah has resigned from the Kanda-based Television station. Nana resigned following her suspension from the television station about a month ago.

The Tv personality had earlier sparked a Twitter storm when she tweeted pictures suggesting she was at Old Trafford to watch her favorite team, Manchester United after photo-shopping herself into them. The photos were later discovered not to be her own and that she was not at the stadium during the game. She was later criticized and mocked on social media for doing such a ‘low thing’.

She later explained the photo-shopping was nothing but a prank, but many people didn’t believe that. Continue…

The management of TV3 however described her action as an “online photo theft” and suspended her shortly afterwards.  A statement signed by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Augustus Dickson on that Saturday October 3 said “After preliminary investigations internally, and in accordance with TV3’s own commitment to the highest level of professionalism, management has decided to take Nana Aba Anamoah off air until further notice.

Many of Nana’s followers criticized TV3 heavily describing the suspension that was made public as highhanded and unfair. There had been a huge campaign on social media with many influential personalities calling for her reinstatement considering her enormous contribution to the network almost in a decade, but they turned deaf ears to them.

The amiable lady has now resigned from the tv station. It is not clear what her next move will be. A lot of her fans have described her resignation as what TV3 will regret.

Fans “Abuse” Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda Wax Figure (PHOTOS)

Madame Tussauds Las Vegas announced that they will be boosting security presence at the rapper’s “Anaconda”-inspired wax display after images of fans defiling the sculpture began circulating on social media.

We have been made aware of the inappropriate photograph. Madame Tussauds attractions are interactive, immersive experiences, and our visitors are generally respectful towards the wax figures. It is unfortunate that this visitor decided to behave so inappropriately, and we apologize for any offense this has caused.

We are taking immediate steps to ensure more staff are present in this area and that the set around this particular figure is redesigned so that a picture like this cannot be taken again.

Drake, Fans Laugh Off Meek Mill’s Diss Reply, ‘Wanna Know’

Mill’s “Wanna Know,” his highly anticipated response to Drake’s diss raps, was slammed online. Mill maintains his stance that Drake does not write his songs, and makes specific reference to Drake’s “Know Yourself,” even playing audio of another rapper demoing a verse that includes a trademark Drake lyric, “Runnin’ through the six with my woes.”

Drake, Fans Laugh Off Meek Mill’s Diss Reply, 'Wanna Know'

Mill also compares Drake to Milli Vanilli, the 1980s pop group that was exposed for lip-synching all of their songs. A Photoshopped image of Drake wearing French braids like the group is featured in the audio player.

Still, “Wanna Know was dismantled by Twitter users who complain that Mill’s lyrics are indecipherable, sophomoric, and an embarrassment to his girlfriend Nicki Minaj:

Drake even replied to the song, posting a photograph of himself laughing on Instagram. Last Saturday, Drake released his first of two Mill diss tracks. He unveiled “Charged Up” on his Beats 1 radio show. On Wednesday, he dropped a second song, “Back to Back.” Both ignited firestorms online in favor of the Toronto rapper.

On “Back to Back,” Drake belittles Mill for being an act on his “girl’s tour,” and for getting emasculated by a rapper who sings.
