A statement signed by  Leke Adeboye, the clergyman’s last son and Personal Assistant said the clarification is coming on the heels of misrepresentation of Pastor E. A  Adeboye’s announcement at the Annual Ministers Thanksgiving held at the redemption camp today that the Church Nigeria is now to be led by Pastor Joseph Obayemi.

The statement clarified that the latest development is sequel to the new legal requirements set up by the Financial Regulations Council, guiding all registered churches, mosques, and CSOs.

The regulation stipulates that heads of non profit organisations like churches now have a maximum period of twenty years to lead their organizations while  in retirement, they are not permitted to hand over to their families.

Leke Adeboye reiterated that Pastor Funsho Odesola, will now serve as the new Church Secretary while Pastor Joseph Adeyokunu, is the new Church Treasurer.?

He advised  all members of RCCG to understand this new structure and go about their service to God and humanity in holiness and soul winning.

He also appealed to members to educate people around them and not spread inaccurate information stressing that Pastor E.A Adeboye remains the General Overseer of RCCG Worldwide.

Don’t Upload my Messages on Social Media, Spare Me Insults – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor E.A Adeboye, has pleaded with youths in his church to desist from uploading his messages on the social media, and spare him the torrents of backlash such upload can attract from millions of social media users.

He also begged not to be quoted.

This is coming after the pastor was widely upbraided over his counsel to young men and women concerning marriage.

Recall that some months ago, in a video, Pastor Adeboye warned women, “Don’t marry a man who has no job. Before God gave Adam Eve, he gave him a job.

He said, ‘This is the garden, keep it.’ So when anybody comes to you and say, ‘Sister, thus saith the Lord, you are going to be the star in my firmament,’ ask him — ‘What is your job?’”

In another video, he advised men, “Marry a prayer warrior! Don’t marry any girl who cannot pray for one hour non-stop. Don’t marry a girl who is lazy! If she is lazy when she is single, what will happen if she is married?

Following his messages, many social media users had lambasted him.

The likes of the daughter of Victor Omololu Olunloyo – a former governor of Oyo State, Kemi Olunloyo, whose public criticism of people knows no bounds, called him a lunatic for his alleged unwise advice.

Among others, a former Nigerian Prophet and Evangelist Minister at Windows of Heaven Revival Outreach, London, United Kingdom, Folayan Osekita had faulted Adeboye’s warnings, saying people have their different stories when it comes to marriage.

But months after trolls called him out, Daddy G.O, as Adeboye is fondly called, has begged youths of the church to stop uploading his videos or quoting him on social media.

Speaking during the church’s youth program plenary session themed ‘vessels unto honour’ some days ago, the popular pastor pleaded with the participants to spare him the problem of social media by not uploading the program’s video on YouTube.

He said, “Spare me the problem.

“I’m not talking to you so that you can put me on YouTube,” the pastor pleaded.

Kidnappers Abduct RCCG Pastor During Service

A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God has been kidnapped by yet-to-be identified persons.

It was gathered that Pastor Ayo Raphael was kidnapped during the Sunday service at the Resurrection parish of the RCCG in Kabba junction in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

Eyewitnesses said the kidnappers, numbering about 10, stormed the church auditorium at about 9am and ordered the congregation to lie face down.

An eyewitness, who pleaded not to be named, said, “The pastor was dragged out of the church into the bush while the abductors shot sporadically into the air to facilitate their escape.”

Although no lives were lost, many members of the congregation were said to have sustained injuries as a result of their scampering for safety as the kidnappers were shooting into the air.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the kidnappers had contacted the church, demanding N50m before the pastor could be released.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said he had yet to be briefed about the incident.

He promised to get back to our correspondent on the police efforts on the matter, but had yet to do so as of press time.

“Stop Giving Offerings In Redeemed Churches If…..” – Pastor Adeboye

The annual congress of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God(RCCG) commenced yesterday at the Redemption Camp with General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye kicking it off with the sermon topic The Flood Of Love. This congress themed The Floodgates of Heaven has brought together hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life to the Camp. Speaking yesterday, Pastor Adeboye revealed why the church, which is one of the wealthiest in the world, still takes offerings. According to the highly-revered man of God,”Let me tell you the truth;the only reason we still take offerings is to get you out of poverty. From today if you’re not sure of your salvation don’t “ever” give when it’s time for offerings in RCCG. When you give offerings you’re sending money to heaven.”
