Man Allegedly Murders Newborn, Wife, & Mom In Apparent Murder-Suicide

A 22-year-old man is believed to be responsible for the fatal shootings of three of his family members before allegedly turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide at a hotel in Fairbanks, Alaska on Friday.

According to People, the Fairbanks Police Department’s initial investigation shows that McKay Hutton allegedly shot his mother, Linda Hutton, 54; wife, Emily McDonald, 22; and two-month-old son, Teagan Hutton, before killing himself. The motive for the killings is still under investigation at this time.

Alaska Dispatch News reports that police first responded to a call regarding “suspicious circumstance” at a Fairbanks area Hampton Inn and Suites on Friday afternoon. Officers then discovered a man crying in hotel’s second-floor hallway, who led them to the room where they discovered Hutton and his alleged three victims.

“The man in the hallway was identified as a family member,” police said in a statement on Saturday. “Preliminary investigation showed he was not present during the shooting. His name is not being released at this time.”

Police have stated they have no reason to believe alcohol or drugs were involved in the shootings. The four bodies will be flown to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage, Alaska for autopsies on Monday.

Gunmen Attack Oil Facility, Kill Four NSCDC Officials

Gunmen have killed four Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps guarding a facility operated by the Nigerian subsidiary of Italian group Eni, local and security officials said Wednesday.

Four members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, a paramilitary agency of the government, were killed on Monday at the installation at Omoku, near the oil hub of Port Harcourt,  they said.

They were shot dead by gunmen in military camouflage, they said.

“The (security) operatives had engaged the gunmen in a fierce gun battle on realising that the intruders were not military men,” state NSCDC spokesman Michael Oguntuase told AFP.

A community leader in Omoku who did not want to be named, confirmed the incident.

“Dressed in camouflage, they came in a speed boat at about 6:40pm on Monday, exchanged gunfire with the operatives, leading to the death of four,” he said.

He said an unspecified number of NSCDC personnel were wounded.

Officials at Agip, the local subsidiary of Eni, were not immediately available for comment. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

Since the start of the year, several militant groups, Including the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), have bombed pipelines and facilities operated by oil companies, including Shell, Chevron, Exxon, Eni and state-run NNPC in the restive oil-producing south.

The attacks have slashed Nigeria’s oil output, hammering government revenue at a time of global low prices.

Nigeria is currently struggling to come out of a recession since August.

The attacks on oil infrastructure have continued despite government’s peace moves.

Mom Murders Her 17 Month Old Son As Punishment For Her Boyfriend’s Infidelities

A Pennsylvania mother-of-two was charged with murder and attempted murder on Tuesday after smothering her 17-month-old son to death and attempting to kill her 2-year-old daughter.

The terrifying attack allegedly took place after Christian Clark, 21, got into a fight with her boyfriend, Andre Price Jr., over text message after accusing him of cheating on her. Clark then began to threaten she would kill their two children if he did not return home, before following through with her threats to “ruin both our lives.”

After killing their son, People reports Clark blamed the death on her boyfriend, texting him, “Andre is dead cus daddy couldn’t tell the truth.” She allegedly then continued to berate Price with text messages, asking him to admit to his infidelities or else his children would suffer more harm. Eventually, she texted photos and videos of the children to her boyfriend as well, including one where their son is lying facedown on the bed and appears to be lifeless.

Later, Clark allegedly told Clark that he can just “make new kids” with whomever he was cheating on her with, before asking him if it was “easier planning your child’s funeral or telling your babies’ mom you didn’t want to be around her.” In her final text, she apologized — “Sorry I did this. I [swear to God] I didn’t mean to.” — then called 911.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and rushed Clark’s son to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Clark’s daughter suffered minor injuries.

Clark is currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail without bond. At this time, charges will likely not be brought against Price.

Disarm Herdsmen, Anglican Church Tells FG

The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has called on the Federal Government to take urgent actions to “disarm all Fulani herdsmen ravaging the country.”

The church, which premised its demand on the need to stem the wave of attacks and killings of harmless farmers in the country, also called on the Christian Association of Nigeria to map out strategies to curb the killings of Christians in the country.

The position of the Anglican Church was contained in a communique on Sunday by Bishop Rev. Duke Akamisoko after the second session of the third synod held at St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral, Kubwa in Abuja.

The church expressed disappointment with the prevalent attacks on farming communities by the herdsmen in different parts of the country, stressing that the situation was inimical to Nigeria’s desire to promote agriculture.

Akamisoko said, “The Synod notes with dismay the prevalent attacks on farming communities by Fulani herdsmen in different parts of the country and demand that more decisive actions should be taken by the government to disarm the herdsmen to stem the rising wave of attacks and killings of harmless farmers as this is inimical to its desire to diversify our economy through agriculture.”

The cleric noted that while the church was trying to recover from the effect of the massive destruction of lives and property in the North-East by Boko Haram insurgents, the incessant killings of Christians, like the women killed in Kano and Kubwa, were worrisome.

The Bishop also called on the three arms of government to guard the constitutional provisions of freedom of worship and association.

Speaking on the government’s anti-corruption crusade, the church appreciated the efforts of the government, advising the anti-graft agencies to adopt a strategy that would cut across all arms and tiers of government, agencies and departments.

Akamisoko enjoined Nigerians to cooperate with the government for effective result.

Woman Stabs Neighbour To Death For Interfering In A Fight Between Herself & Husband

The police in Lagos have arrested a woman, Ndifreke Femi, 30, for allegedly stabbing her neighbour to death. Although the incident occurred at Block 109, Ikota Housing Estate in Ajah, the suspect is being held at the Homicide Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) at Panti-Yaba.

The Nation learnt that the police have launched a manhunt for the suspect’s husband who allegedly fled from home after the incident.

It was gathered that the mother of two stabbed Ayomide Ayenuwa, 28, on the neck with a kitchen
knife when he attempted to settle a rift between her and her husband.

According to neighbours, the deceased had gone into the Femi’s home to pay his electricity bill but met the couple quarrelling over a missing N20,000. The woman claimed that her husband stole the cash.

The late Ayenuwa said to have attempted to broker peace between them, but to no avail and as he was leaving their apartment, the woman rushed to her kitchen, picked a kitchen knife and allegedly stabbed him on the neck.

It was learnt that other neighbours rushed him to Peninsula Hospital but he was referred to the Akodo General Hospital. He died on the way to the general hospital.

A neighbour, James Peter, while narrating the incident said: “When he got to their room, he saw the husband and wife quarrelling. Ndifreke was accusing her husband of stealing the N20,000 she hid under their mattress. Her husband denied the allegation but she was ready for a fight.

“It was at this point that Ayenuwa made efforts to settle the couple but they kept fighting. Ayenuwa appealed to Ndifreke to take the matter easy but she descended on him and started calling him names. She told him to mind his business.

“That was how Ayenuwa left the couple to their trouble. As he was walking away, Ndifreke ran into the kitchen and brought out a kitchen knife which she used to stab Ayenuwa on his neck from behind. Neighbours made efforts to save Ayenuwa’s life while others held Ndifreke down and almost lynched her.

“The neighbours with Ayenuwa’s family rushed him to the Peninsula Hospital at Ajah for treatment but he was referred to the Akodo General Hospital. Sadly, he died on his way to the hospital.”

But in her statement to the police, the suspect claimed she acted in self defence.

She alleged that the deceased attacked her first by punching her on the head.

‘Wike Lacks Capacity To Govern Rivers State’ – Amaechi

Former Rivers State governor and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has accused his successor, governor Nyesom  Wike of lacking the political will and capacity to govern Rivers State.

Amaechi stated this on Sunday at an APC rally in Rumueme, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, ahead of the state and national assembly elections on Saturday.

Amaechi said, “Wike lacks capacity to govern. Somebody who just knows how to steal money is a bushman. Wike said, am corrupt. He should bring evidence to show. I will bring evidence to show that Wike is corrupt. Wike did the Rukpoku/ Eneka road during my tenure he did not complete it. I
gave Wike the contracts to do all the roads around Aristle House(a hotel in GRA) but he failed to do them, I gave him fourteen schools to give to Obio/Akpor people, he stole them, he lacks character”.

Also speaking on the security situation in the state, Amaechi said, “When I was the governor, one thing that I kept thinking of was how to chase these criminals away but under Nyesom Wike, he meets with them. If Wike does not secure you people, the federal government will secure you. If he doesn’t want to be ignored he should go and secure you people because federal government will no longer tolerate these killings in Rivers State.

Amaechi further told his supporters not to be intimidated by Wike’s threats and come out to vote APC at Saturday’s election.

Saturday is your day, come out and vote. They will no longer have the Police they had, they will no longer have the Army they had, we pray that INEC should be neutral, your job is to match out and vote for APC ,we will not write results like Nyesom Wike , so go back to your wards and do door to door”.

Also, in Akuku/Toru local government area, Amaechi told his party supporters to be courageous in exercising their franchise without fear of intimidation

“You see, it is not enough to provide security because if there are no votes we will lose, the implication therefore is that all of you must come out and vote for APC so that we will win the election.”,he said.

Amaechi had earlier paid condolence to the family of slain APC stalwart  Mr. Ofirite Amachree who was killed and burnt beyond recognition by unknown gunmen in Buguma.

Amaechi has also pledged to assist families of slain All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Omoku, Ogba,Egbema/Ndoni local government area of  Rivers state.

Amaechi gave the assurance at the weekend when he visited families of late Frankline Obi and late Chukwuladi Adiela in Omoku, Rivers State.

The late Frankline Obi was the APC chairman of ward 4 and was killed and beheaded by unknown gunmen alongside his pregnant wife and son while late Chukwuladi Adiela was an APC stalwart of ward 14.

Addressing the deceased families, the Minister said, “The President is aware of the death of your son who was our party ward chairman. I personally gave him the photograph of the beheaded body. Everybody must learn to give account of their action or inaction in Omoku. We can’t have police and be experiencing this kind of thing. Internal security is the responsibility of the police so if we have police and keep experiencing this in Omoku it means the police in Rivers State has failed and the people that are been killed are mostly APC members”, he said.

Amaechi  also told the bereaved families that the president was aware of the killings in Omoku and promised that full investigation will be carried out to unravel the killers.

“The President is fully aware of the situation. I was the governor of this state and Omoku wasn’t this bad Stay clear they will kill more. The police can’t claim not to know who the people are because I was governor, the police worked with me, we knew where the criminals were and we went after them.”

Police in Ogun state will henceforth shoot armed cultists and “ritualists” at sight, the state command announced Thursday.

The commissioner of police, Abdulmajid Ali, gave the order shortly after parading 23 suspected criminals at the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, saying that the command will not tolerate ?the rising cases of cultism and ritual killings.

He said the shoot-at-sight order will not amount to extra-judicial killing because the intention of armed criminals is either to kill or maim.

“Our investigation so far confirmed that he perpetrated the act? but tried to hide under a cover that six people were seen.

“We didn’t want to parade him because it’s a case that we have already charged to court. From all available information and the investigation conducted, the boy is a very close person to the woman. He was the person that saw the Iyaloja last, ?he was also the one that took care of her,” the police boss said.
