Police arrest nurse, husband over wife’s death after abortion.

An auxiliary nurse in Sapele (name withheld) has been arrested by the police following the death of one Mrs. Loveth Oke (36), a mother of seven, who she allegedly performed an abortion on.

Also arrested by the police was the husband of the deceased, who allegedly compelled his wife to undertake the abortion.

It was learnt that the deceased on finding out that she was pregnant, had informed her husband, who in turn insisted on having an abortion, since they already have seven children.

The auxiliary nurse was said to have started injecting drugs into the deceased since last December, which led to complications. After taking the deceased to different hospitals, including herbal homes, she finally passed on last Friday.

The news of her death got to her family members, following which the deceased’s mother reported the case at the Sapele Police Station.

However, a police source confirmed that the nurse and husband of the deceased were currently undergoing interrogation, adding that the nurse had allegedly confessed to the crime.

Confirming the arrest, the police image-maker in the state, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, said the suspects were being detained at the State CID for further investigation.

My wife slept with her ex-husband on our matrimonial bed, man tells court.

A barber, Gbenga Akinade, on Friday at an Ibadan Grade C Customary Court, Agodi-Ibadan, secured the dissolution of his six-year-old marriage on grounds of infidelity.

Mr. Akinade told the court that his wife, Busayo, had sex with her former husband on his (Gbenga’s) matrimonial bed, adding that he could no longer tolerate her adulterous way.

He testified that he met the defendant when she was hawking herbal liquor (Agbo-jedi), and that both of them agreed to marry after few months of courtship.

“I did not know that she was a divorcee with two kids until she got pregnant for me. I began to suspect her adulterous ways after she gave birth to our second child.

“She used to go out for two or three days, leaving the children with neighbours,’’ he said.

“Her immoral affairs with her ex-husband came into open recently when I caught her having sex with the man on our matrimonial bed.

“I beat the hell out of her that day but allowed the man to go because unpleasant things might happen if I beat him.

“I decided for divorce in order to forget how I met her with her ex-husband on my bed,’’ he said.

The petitioner prayed the court to allow him to have the custody of his children.

“I promise to take good care of them,’’ he said.

The respondent, in her defence, said that her estranged husband was aware that she had two children before he met her.

She, however, was silent on the allegation that she had sex with her ex-husband on Mr. Akinade’s matrimonial bed.

Busayo added that Mr. Akinade regularly beat her.

She pleaded with the court to peacefully resolve the conflict.

“I am not ready to leave my matrimonial home and my children,’’ she said.

The president of the court, Mukaila Balogun, dissolved the marriage on the ground of lack of love.

“The opinion of the court is that there is no more love between the parties based on the testimonies of the couple,’’ he said.

Mr. Balogun ordered that two of the three children should be in the custody of their father while the last child should be with the mother.

The president of the court ordered the petitioner to be paying N4, 000 monthly to the respondent for the upkeep of the only child with her.

My husband beats me for refusing his excessive sexual urge, wife tells court

An estranged wife, Sola Bamisile, 30, on Monday told an Ikole Ekiti Customary Court that she could no longer bear her husband’s strong sexual urge.

The petitioner alleged that her husband, Bayo Bamisile, constantly beat her whenever she refused him sex.

Sola told the court that within five and a half years of their marriage she had given birth to four children.

She also alleged that the respondent failed to care for her and the children.

According to her, none of the children is in school.

“I always quarrel with my husband because none of our children is in school; there is no proper care for me and the children.

“My husband is always concerned about having sex with me whenever he has taken palm-wine.

“He has not even paid my dowry,’’ she said.

The petitioner, however, told the court that her husband and his family members had been reaching out to her to reconsider her divorce move.

“My husband and his family have been coming to me to change my mind about the divorce.

“He has also written a letter of undertaking to be of good behaviour,” she said.

The petitioner tendered the letter of undertaking in court as exhibit.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the letter was admitted by the court.

The respondent denied the allegation of constantly fighting his wife and failing to take care of his family.

He however admitted not paying the dowry.

The president of the court, Yemisi Ojo, ruled that the plaintiff should monitor the respondent’s behaviour for three months to ascertain if he had changed.

She also ordered that the man should enrol his children in school before the next adjourned date.

Ms. Ojo adjourned the case to May 8 for report of settlement.

Man to die by hanging for killing his wife.

An Ikeja Division of the Lagos High Court on Thursday sentenced a man, Sulaiman Olalekan, to death by hanging for the murder of his wife, Chika Egbo, on November 20, 2012, in a case of domestic violence.

The convict, on the fateful day, had poured acid on his wife, having become overwhelmed by the fact that the deceased went back to prostitution against his advice.

The trial judge, Lawal Akapo, in his judgment, convicted Mr. Olalekan for the murder of his wife and sentenced him to death accordingly.

After the sad incident which resulted in the eventual death of the victim, Ms. Egbo, and in line with the zero tolerance posture of the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led administration on issues of domestic violence, the Lagos State Government through the State’s Ministry of Justice had taken over the prosecution of the case and filed necessary processes in court.

Mr. Olalekan reportedly met the deceased at Signal Hotel in Ijeshatedo area of Lagos State, where they started a relationship that resulted in marriage.

It was after the marriage that Mr. Olalekan bought her a second hand Volkswagen Bus and paid her school fees at the Enugu College of Education.

But the deceased reportedly reneged on her commitment to the relationship by returning to prostitution, which caused Mr. Olalekan to procure acid from a battery charger in Ikotun area of the State and lured her to visit with his mother on the day when he poured raw acid on the deceased.

The victim was admitted at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for emergency medical treatment, where she eventually died.

Justice Akapo, in arriving at his judgment, said he believed that the murder of Ms. Egbo by Mr. Olalekan was premeditated.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Adeniji Kazeem, who was the lead prosecuting counsel, in his reaction to the judgment, thanked the court for a well-considered punishment.

He said: “Today’s judgment is a victory in our fight against domestic violence and a victory for domestic violence victims.”

Governor Ambode, it would be recalled, had pledged to make Lagos uncomfortable for perpetrators of domestic violence when he led an All-Male Walk against Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) late last year.

I can no longer tolerate my wife’s masturbation, husband tells court.

A 44-year-old businessman, Ekpolador Ebi, told an FCT High Court, Kubwa, that he would no longer tolerate his wife’s masturbation.

Mr. Ebi made this known when he testified in his divorce petition against his wife, Gloria Onajero, in Abuja on Wednesday.

He urged the court to end the marriage, which had produced two children because of his wife’s unfaithful and intolerable character.

The petitioner questioned the paternity of his children, when he found out his wife’s extra-marital affair with one Richard.

He also noted that his wife’s “ugly character” has had a negative impact on their children.

“She masturbates on a regular basis. I have warned her severally but she wouldn’t stop. Now it has affected my first daughter.

“I caught her on three occasions; I spoke to the mother about it and she promised that it would be resolved but it did not.

“Now, I noticed since we separated, that the children have developed confidence issues in school.

“My first daughter has also developed anger issues; she slams the door at you when you try to scold her. All these never used to be,” he said

Mr. Ebi also told the court that he ran away from his home because his wife and her mother frustrated all his good intentions.

According to him, his wife also beats the children with so much force and without mercy and when he tried to caution her, her mother supports her.

The petitioner urged the court to, aside dissolving the marriage, help him recover his property from his wife.

“My wife came into this marriage with nothing, but when she left, she went away with everything I had.

“She took all the original documents of my property, including our marriage certificate.

“I want everything back, including my first daughters’ international passport which has a five-year-visa on it.

“I also want this court to order her to stop calling me at odd hours. She calls me around 1 a.m., 2 a.m. or 3 a.m. for no good reason,” he said.

Festus Ukpe, counsel to the respondent, applied to the court to grant them two dates of adjournment to enable him and his client prepare their defence.

The presiding judge, Bello Kawu, adjourned the matter till March 21 and March 30.

Married Man Baths Lover With Acid For Refusing To Be Second Wife

A married man, Mr. Chidi Nbosiadinjo, has been accused of hiring two thugs to pour a bucket of acid one Miss Ogochukwu Nwosu, his girlfriend, who turned down the proposal to be his second wife.

The incident took place at about 7pm on 6 October, 2016 at Ilasa bus stop in Lagos State as Ogochukwu returned from work. A relative of Ogochukwu told SaharaReporters that those who witnessed the acid attack said it was carried out by two men, who came on a motorcycle. The one with the bucket of acid jumped down and drenched Ogochukwu with the corrosive substance.

Mr. Peter Nwosu, a brother to Ogochukwu, said Mr. Nbosidianijo became a friend of their family when he helped the first son secure a Malaysian visa after he had been duped four times.

“Mr. Nbosodianijo helped our eldest brother get an original Malaysian visa after our brother tried four times and was duped. Somebody introduced us to him and he connected my brother to someone who eventually helped in getting original visa. Since then, he became a part of the family and our neighbors know him as such,” he said.

It was gathered that Mr. Nbosidianijo, who is married with two kids, proposed to Ogochukwu after about two years of dating, but knowing he is married, she turned down the marriage proposal. This made him angry and he allegedly vowed that he would not let Ogochukwu marry another man because he had spent so much money on her.

“He said if he can’t marry her, another person will not marry her. He said he cannot sow for another man to reap,” Mr. Peter explained.

Ogochukwu’s mother was also said to have told Mr. Nbosidianijo to obtain the approval of his wife to take another wife. She said her daughter’s life was being threatened by Mr. Nbosidinajo’s wife.

Ogochukwu’s brother said he was told by a neighbor that he saw Mr. Nbosidinajo with two men loitering around the victim’s house at Lawason, Lagos a day before the attack.

“A day before the sad event took place, one of our neighbors saw Mr. Nbosidinajo on the decking of our house at Lawason in Surulere late in the evening. He was said to have pointed at our room. This neighbor told our mother and when our mother called Mr. Nbosidinajo to confirm if he came to our house, he admitted that he came. Before that, Ogochukwu also told us that he had gone to her photographer’s place to collect one of her pictures,” said Peter Nwosu.

He added that Mr. Nbosidinajo’s wife called a few hours after the attack to say Ogochukwu had not seen anything yet. “That he said my sister wouldn’t be able to marry another if she doesn’t marry him and his wife calling to issue fresh threats show that the husband and wife ordered the attack,” said Peter Nwosu. Since the attack, Ogochukwu has undergone five major surgeries, and she is preparing for another to open her eyes, which remain shut.

Mr. Peter revealed that the case was reported to Itire Police Station after which it was transferred to Alagbon Police Station where both Mr. and Mrs. Nbosidinajo were arrested and released a couple of days later. However, when our correspondent contacted Mrs. Joyce, the Investigative Officer in charge of the case, she flared up at being phoned and hung up when the question was asked about the incident.

Wife seeks divorce over husband’s “withdrawal method” during sex

A 36-year-old seamstress, Sherifat Adetunji, on Friday pleaded at a Lagos Island Customary Court that her marriage should be dissolved on ground that her husband was longer ejaculating inside her during sex.

The mother of two said her 10-year-old marriage was blissful until five years ago when things started changing.

She lamented that her husband could go a year or more without making love to her and that when he did he would not ejaculate inside her.

“My husband has been starving me sexually, sometimes he will not touch me for a whole year and when he did, he would not release inside me.

“I have complained severally about my dissatisfaction over his attitude towards our sexual life, but has refused to change,” she said.

She told the court that her husband once brought a strange man into their house to perform some rituals in the middle of the night and since then she started emaciating.

“My husband brought a man to pass the night in our house and that in the middle of the night they performed some rituals since then I have been growing lean.

“He did not show any concern about my state of health or why I was growing lean everyday,” Mrs. Adetunji said.

She, therefore, prayed the court to dissolve the marriage and give her the custody of their two children, Alia, 8, and Kismat, 5.

Her husband, Monsuru, 38, a trader, told the court that he thought his wife was happy in their marriage because they hardly quarreled.

He said he was surprised when she packed out of the house and brought him to court for the dissolution of their marriage.

He admitted his sexual behaviour, saying that it was due to the current economic recession so as to prevent his wife from getting pregnant.

“I stopped making love to her regularly and releasing in her because of the present economic situation in the country so that she does not get pregnant.

“The man she said I brought home was a distant relation who had no place to pass the night.

“The reason why my wife is reducing in size is because she does not give herself rest of mind, she is always worried about one thing or the other,” he said.

He urged the court to dissolve the marriage as he was no longer interested in the marriage because she had packed out of their matrimonial home.

The Court President, Awos Awosola, said that marriage institution could only work if the two were in agreement.

“Marriage is for two people, not one; your wife should also have a say in the home.

“Since she has complained severally that you are starving her sexually, you should have made amends.

“If you do not want to get her pregnant you can always use condom,” he said.

Mr. Awosola urged the two parties to maintain the peace and adjourned the case to Feb. 16 for further hearing.

My wife beats me often, separate us, husband begs court.

Oluwatimilehin Oyewole, on Friday begged a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan to dissolve his four-year-old marriage, to save him from constant beating by his wife.

Oluwatimilehin had in a petition to the court said that his wife, Kehinde usually slaps or mishandle him anytime they had disagreement.

“My lord, anytime I complain about Kehinde’s waywardness and lack of respect for me, she beats or attack me with any dangerous thing within her reach.

“Sometimes, Kehinde freely pulls my manhood as part of her attack on me.

“Most of the time, I run out of the house for her even in the midnight.

“However, it is not that she is more powerful than I am, but I am merely trying to avert bloodshed or casualty.

“I am most disturbed by the disposition of her mother who always supports her misbehaviour.

“Worst of all, Kehinde has exited my house for more than a year now and I have reports that she has been sleeping with different men around.

“I was told that if I admit her back into my house without her confessing to me all those who have had sexual intercourse with her, I might have to bear the evil consequence that should naturally befall her.

“This is the reason why I thought that I should let Kehinde go before she eventually kills me,” Oluwatimilehin stated.

Wwhen the matter came up, Kehinde was not in court to defend the allegations leveled against her.

The bailiff, however, confirmed that Kehinde was served with the notice to appear before the court.

The President, Mr Ademola Odunade, adjourned the matter to March 15, for further hearing.

My husband beats me for not worshiping idol, woman tells court.

A fashion designer, Omotolani Alele, on Wednesday told an Idi-Ogungun Customary Court, Agodi, Ibadan that her husband beat her each time she refused to worship his family idol.

Omotolani, who lives at Ojoo area of Ibadan, had approached the court for dissolution of her five-year-old marriage on grounds of brutality and threat to her life by her husband, Anthony.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that hearing in the case began on February 1 and was adjourned till February 8 for the defendant to produce their marriage certificate.

The plaintiff had refuted the claim of her husband that they were legally married.

However, at the resumed hearing of the case today, the husband failed to produce the marriage certificate.

In her testimony before the court, Omotolani had said that the union, blessed with a three-year-old child, had been a regrettable one due to daily ill treatment from Anthony.

“My husband asked me to join him to worship his family idol several times but l refused, and this made him to beat me always.

“His parents did not want him to marry me but we came together since he claimed to love me but he changed.

“He even took the only child of the union from me and cannot really say where he kept my child.

“I pray the court to grant my request for divorce; I am not ready to worship any idol and l don’t want to die young due to his constant beating,’’ Omotolani pleaded.

The defendant did not object to the petition.

The Court President, Mukaila Balogun, consequently upheld the request of the petitioner and dissolved the union.

He held that the evidence before the court proved that both parties were not ready for amicable resolution of their conflict.

He gave the custody of the child to the plaintiff and directed the defendant to pay N4,000 monthly for the upkeep of the child.

My husband sleeps with his 12-year-old daughter, divorce-seeking wife tells court

A civil servant, Blessing Ilo, on Tuesday told a Nyanya Customary Court, Abuja, that her husband has been having canal knowledge of his biological daughter.

Ms. Ilo testified in a divorce petition she filled against the husband, James Akpan.

“All the while I was living with my husband and that little girl of 12 years, I don’t know that my husband was always having sex with her when I’m out of the house.

“I would not have suspected anything because when my husband brought the little girl into the house, he told me that she was one of his children from another woman.

“Also, the girl was still a child that no sane man will lust after,” she added.

The petitioner told the court that on a particular occasion, the little girl confessed to the police that her father usually tie her hands before having sex with her.

Ms. Ilo said that she had to move out of her husband’s house because he was always messing up the house, especially when he was drunk.

“My husband always urinate around the house whenever he is drunk; sometimes on the bed or on the floor of the room.

“Worst of all, one day he woke up in the night and went straight to the kitchen, opened the bucket of drinking water and urinated into it,” she said.

She also said her husband does not provide food for the family, adding “not even his child’s school fees.”

The petitioner begged the court to dissolve the marriage and grant her custody of the only child of the union.

The respondent was not present in court.

The judge, Jemilu Jega, reiterated that the respondent was served on three different occasions but refused to appear in court.

He adjourned the case till February 9 for judgment.

My wife beats me at will,” husband tells court.

“My wife is stronger than me and she has turned me into a punching bag,” a man, Lukman Owolabi, told a Customary Court sitting in Ikole in Ekiti State on Thursday.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the wife had filed a suit seeking the dissolution of their 23-year-old marriage over constant fighting and threat to life.

However, the husband, who denied beating his wife, told the court his wife was one who had been beating him, saying “she is stronger than me.”

“My wife beats me whenever we fight because she has power more than me.”

Mr. Owolabi, who said the marriage had produced six children between ages six and 22, urged the court to dissolve the union.

Apart from the vexed issue of constant beating by the wife and threat to life, the estranged couple also wanted the court to intervene in a landed property to ascertain the legitimate owner between them.

The wife, Esther, who operates a restaurant and bar in the town, claimed ownership of the land, while the husband insisted the land belongs to him.

Zambian police married to foreigners warned: Your spouse could be a spy.

Police in Zambia have been banned from marrying foreigners, according to a memo by police inspector general Kakoma Kanganja circulating on social media.

The memo, dated 11 January, said those who were already married to foreigners should declare this within a week.

It said failure to do so would “attract disciplinary action”.

Police spokeswoman Esther Katongo said: “Issues of security are delicate. If not careful, spouses can be spies and can sell the security of the country.”

Ms Katongo told the BBC that a standing order had been issued, notifying police officers of the measure, but that the ban itself was not new.

She said officers had previously obeyed the ban but the new order had been thought necessary because some police had begun ignoring it.

“There are a few officers who have started marrying foreigners,” she said. “They are ignoring the previous requirement and this is why another standing order has been passed to remind officers what they are supposed to do and not supposed to do.”

She said it was likely officers who had married foreigners would now be given “some rules they should follow”.

Asked why such measures were necessary, Ms Katongo said: “When you get married, they say that you are one. You know what marriage is – you share secrets. And you can tell officers ‘do not disclose’ but you have no control. You won’t be in their homes to always check on them.

“The security of the nation is what is paramount.”

Why El-Zakzaky, wife are still in detention – Presidency

The presidency yesterday justified why the leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, is still been detained by the authorities.

Outlining the impediments inhibiting his release, he said the Federal Government is looking into the case with the public and security interest dimensions among others above any other individual claim of right.

A top presidency official who craved anonymity yesterday explained that public interest and national security implications must be considered in line with international practices that conventionally place national security and public interest above any other individual claim of right.

His words: “The major constitutional policy objective of government as stated in section 14 (2) (b) is public and not individual security.

“The issue of the release of Zakzaky is not exclusively legal. It has security and public interest as against individual interest undertones.

“The Federal Government is looking into the case and taking security interest dimensions into consideration,” the official said.

Making further clarification on the alleged detention of the religious leader’s wife along side her husband, the source stated that El-Zakzaky’s wife was not of any security interests and therefore was merely keeping her husband company in the apartment in which he is kept.

“She is not under detention. If it is her wish, that of her husband or of the IMN, she will be allowed to go home in a matter of hours,” he said.

God will shame my husband’s enemies in 2017 – Mrs Fayose

Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose, wife of Ekiti State Governor, on Tuesday, January 3, wished shame on her husband’s enemies in 2017.

She prayed that enemies posing as friends of her husband’s government will be exposed in the new year.

The Ekiti First Lady stated this during this year’s edition of inter-religious Thanksgiving service organised by the office of Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Pastor Seyi Olusola, in Ado Ekiti.

“Every enemy pretending as friends, close to the government of Ayo Fayose and working against the government, the Lord will expose them with shame this year. Enough is enough,” she said.

She urged the people of the state to disregard negative predictions against the Fayose administration, noting that God has assured her not to fear anything in 2017.

“Don’t listen to whatever prophesies you are hearing from anyone. Anybody can say whatever they, but God has given all power to turn every  negative utterances to your favour. Confess positive things about Ekiti and it shall be so, no matter what anyone says.

“The Lord said He will help us and we should fear not. I pray the Lord will give us the grace and enablement to hold these words and confess them daily.”

The First Lady added that God granted her family victories over their battles in 2016.

“My testimony is unending because God has been good to me gracious and wonderful to my family. I will lose count in tabulating them; in all families, He favoured my family, favoured my husband and me among all men and women, It is not to say we are the most perfect or wonderful it is just because He has chosen to love us,” she said.

Man storms house party, kills ex-wife, son, 9 others, before shooting self in the head.

A gunman stormed a house party and killed 11 people, including his former wife and eight-year-old son, before shooting himself in the head during a New Year’s party in southeastern Brazilian.

Police say the shooter, 46-year-old Sidnei Ramis de Araújo, was angry over a split with his wife, Isamara Filier, 41, who is the mother of his son, João Victor.

Three other people remain hospitalized, police said, while four people survived the attack unharmed.

One party attendee managed to flee to a bathroom and phone the police when the shooting began at the property in the city of Campinas late on Saturday.

A gunman stormed a house party and killed 11 people in southeastern Brazil. Among the victims are the shooters ex-wife Isamara Filier, 41, and their son João Victor

Survivors, according to a police spokesman, said that just before midnight, the shooter jumped over a fence surrounding the house, burst through a door and began firing even as he berated Filier for taking their son.

Araújo possibly sought to take advantage of the commotion of New Year’s Eve to disguise the shooting, police said.

One neighbor told local television that he and his family heard shots, but had thought they might be fireworks until one of the wounded ran to their property, bleeding and pleading for help.

At least one of those wounded escaped by running to a neighbor’s house. Neighbor Christiano Machado said he heard the shots a little before midnight but assumed they were fireworks.

‘When we opened the gate to go into the street to see the fireworks, the celebrations, a wounded person came into our yard. He entered, asking for help,’ he said in a video posted on the G1 news portal.

Despite high rates of crime and violence in Brazil, including significant problems with assaults against women, the attack alarmed Latin America’s biggest country on a holiday associated with family gatherings.

The shooting took place in Campinas, an industrial and university city of over 1 million residents, is located about 100 kilometers (60 miles) northwest of the city of São Paulo

Gun deaths are common in heists, holdups and in confrontations among police, drug gangs and other criminals in Brazil, but targeted mass shootings are rare.

Police said Araújo, reported by local media to be a laboratory technician, used a 9 mm pistol and carried two additional clips, extra ammunition, a knife and unspecified but unused explosives.

Investigators are analyzing the explosives in addition to a cell phone and audio recorder found in a car he parked outside the home to determine whether Araújo left any sort of message about his attack.

Court Orders 24/7 Police Protection For El-Zakzaky And His Wife Upon Release.

An Abuja Division of the Federal High Court ordered 24/7 police protection for the leader of the Shi’a Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife once they are released from custody.

It would be recalled that Mr. El-Zakzaky was arrested by the military on December 14, 2015, after a clash between the movement and officers of the Nigerian army. The army killed at least 347 members of the group.

Justice G.O. Kolawole of the Federal High Court Abuja ordered El-Zakzaky, and his wife to be released from unlawful detention following the lawsuit filed on their behalf by human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN.

The court in Suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/281/2016 between Sheikh Ibraheem Elzakzaky and State Security Service; the Nigeria Police Force; and the Attorney General of the Federation ruled that, “The Respondents shall within 45 days of this Judgment make proper and decent arrangement of a residential abode for the Applicant and his family in Kaduna State or anywhere of their choice within the Northern Region, where the Applicant and his wife and their children can relocate when released upon the expiration of 45 days from today (that is, 2/12/2016).”

The judgment dated  December 2 2016 reads in part: “Let me state clearly and for the avoidance of doubt that the failure by the government to effect the release of the Applicant and his wife from its custody or any illegal custody whatsoever, upon the expiration of the 45th day from 2/12/2016, such failure shall not only constitute a deliberate acts of disobedience of these orders, but it will crystallize into fresh cause of action of infraction of the Applicant’s rights and his wife to personal liberty guaranteed by the Constitution of Nigeria 1999, as amended.”

“The Inspector General of Police or any of its subordinate officers not below the rank of Assistant Inspector General when he received the Applicant and his wife as ordered, shall take immediate step within 24 hours of receiving the Applicant and his wife convey the Applicant and his wife under necessary security escort to their place of abode as would have been provided by the 1st Respondent working in conjunction with the 3rd Respondent. The 2ndRespondent shall then provide the Applicant and his wife police protection which shall operate 24/7 until the alleged threats which were not provided by any admissible evidence but left in the realm of speculation are moved or significantly diminished.”

“Let it be clearly stated and for the avoidance of doubt that the protection which the 2nd Respondent shall accord to the Applicant and his wife shall not be used under any guise by the 2nd Respondent to place or confine the Applicant and his wife under any form of restriction which would invariably translate to the 2nd Respondent substituting its own ‘safety custody’ with the 1st Respondent’s ‘protective custody’.

“The essence of the order which I have made is to enable the Applicant and his wife to be able to live their normal lives whilst being under constant protective watch by the 2nd Respondent’s officers in their new place of abode. It is the primary responsibility of the 2nd Respondent to protect lives and properties of every Nigerian and even non-Nigerian within our country’s boundaries.”

“Applicant and his wife in the said sister suit have cumulative general damages which I have fixed at N50 million. The Applicant’s suit and the wife’s sister suit succeed on the basis of the reliefs which the Court has granted.”

“When I reflected on all the issues and questions which I had raised in the course of reviewing the processes filed and exchanged by both parties, not only was I unable to set my eyes on the provision of any law or the Constitution by which the Applicant’s detention, albeit in a ‘protective custody’ can be justified.”

“By my modest understanding of constitutional law, every act of detention is presumed to be unlawful and having to the omnibus provision of Section 35 of the Constitution of Nigeria 1999 as amended, to be unconstitutional. The evidential burden to prove that the detention of any citizen or non-citizen who resides within the boundaries of Nigeria in the context of the exceptions in Section 35(1)(a)-(f) invariably lay on the State or any of its agents or agencies as the jailer.”

“The Court has not been afforded any believable evidence (for instance, to produce the Applicant in court in order for him in the full glare of the public, to denounce the suit filed on his behalf by Femi Falana, and to state as a free citizen, that he had consented to his being held in the custody of the 1st Respondent’s custody for his own safety) to prove the alleged consent of the Applicant to be held in protective custody.”

“The issues which the instant suit has thrown up are in my view too serious and of fundamental importance to the health of our national psyche in a democratic setting that this Court will fail the legitimate and expressed expectations of the Rules to enforce the Applicant’s fundamental rights allegedly breached by the Respondent. If I leave to borrow a folklore saying in the Yoruba language, a more deleterious ailment of leprosy as it were, and begin to grapple with the lesser issue of ‘ringworms.’

“To do so by dancing to such niggling issues of technicality will be a disservice to the demands of justice, and the legitimate expectation of majority of Nigerian people who look up to the Judiciary as the only arm of government empowered by virtue of the provisions of Chapter IV of the Constitution to serve as the bulwark against possible violations of the Constitution and occasional mindless abuse of powers by any of the arms or agencies of government.”

“While both learned Counsel have been duly heard on their respective processes, in the course of adjourning the case for Judgment, I deliberately engaged both the Applicant’s lead Counsel Femi Falana, Esq. SAN, who over the years has remained unarguably one of Nigeria’s legal profession’s constant and unwavering ‘combatant’ in the field and on the frontline of human rights advocacy and the Respondents’ Counsel.”

“My judicial intervention in this regard was to protect our country from further needless global exposure which the instant case has occasioned, and to minimize whatever damage the incident may have caused to our national image with the international community amongst friendly democratic states.”

Men Are Scum: My husband impregnated my sister twice, wife tells court.

A 55-year-old trader, Saidat Abu, on Thursday told an Igando Customary Court in Lagos that her husband was a flirt who impregnated her younger sister on two occasions.

She said this while responding to a suit filed by her husband, Momodu, alleging threat to his life by his wife.

Mrs. Saidat, who alleged that her husband did not only commit adultery but incest, said: “My husband was having an affair with my sister, he impregnated her and aborted the pregnancy on two occasions.

“I decided not to fight him in order to save my marriage.”

The mother of two also described her husband as a wicked and callous man.

“My husband took me to the hospital and connived with the doctor to remove my womb so that I will not be pregnant again.

“After destroying my womb, he is now telling me that he wants to marry another woman so that he can have a son that will inherit his property.

“He also told me he wants to sell our house so that he can settle our daughters and rent an apartment for me before he moves on with his life,” she said.

She begged the court not to grant her husband’s request, saying she was still in love with him.

“Who will marry me now after my husband has destroyed my womb? Please do not grant his request, ” she said.

Her husband, a 60-year-old businessman, had approached the court to end his 33-year-old marriage over his wife’s alleged fetish act.

“My wife is fetish; I came back from work one day and discovered a potion in my compound was cemented.

“I was curious to know what was buried in the ground, so I called my people and we dug the ground and saw a charm buried there.

“My wife wanted to kill me so that she can inherit my property,” he said.

The petitioner presented as evidence pictures of the buried charm.

Momodu also said his wife did not cook or wash his clothes.

“My wife cannot do any house chore; I am married but living like a single man, I can no longer tolerate her,” he said.

He further accused his wife of inscribing “This house is not for sale ” on the wall of his house without his consent.

The petitioner urged the court to terminate the marriage, saying he was fed up.

The court’s president, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, after listening to the couple, adjourned the case till Feb. 7 for further hearing.

Banker set fire to wife then claimed she had accident while making him a sandwich

A former City trader burnt his wife alive after she discovered he was having an affair, claiming it was an accident that happened while she was making him a BLT sandwich, a court heard.

Darren Byrne was found guilty on Monday of murdering 35-year-old Maria in the kitchen of their Essex home in February.

Chelmsford Crown Court heard how Ms Byrne discovered her 40-year-old husband’s infidelity when she saw text messages between him and his osteopath.

Ms Byrne confronted her husband who promised he would stop seeing married Deborah Houlihan, a jury heard.

However, Ms Byrne, the mother of his two children, discovered a text on a secret phone that confirmed the affair was still going on.

A jury heard how Byrne knocked his wife out and in a desperate attempt to cover his tracks he doused her in white spirit and set her alight. He then turned on the gas stove in a bid to set fire to his house.

After this failed, he moved her body to stage a tragic cooking accident, telling emergency services in a call: “The stove was on and the frying pan’s on the other side of the room. She’s not breathing.

“My wife is dead, she is dead. She’s burnt badly.”

Byrne, who denied all charges, later told police he had been out walking the family’s dog while his wife made him a bacon sandwich, only discovering her burnt body when he returned home.

Judge Charles Gratwicke told Byrne: “You have been convicted of what can only be described as a wicked and heinous crime.

“I say nothing further at this stage save that you can expect an exceedingly long sentence.”

Ms Byrne’s death was initially treated as unexplained but a murder inquiry started following a post-mortem examination, which identified white spirit on her clothing.

A half-empty bottle of white spirit was also found in the garage, the jury heard.

Ms Byrne’s mother Linda Biggs said Byrne’s actions were “beyond any human comprehension”.

She said: “Eight years ago we entrusted Maria, the most precious thing we had to Darren Byrne. We loved him and treated him like our own son. This person, instead of loving and protecting her, took her life in the most degrading way.”

North Korea: Kim Jong-un’s Wife Reappears In Public After Long Mysterious Absence

The wife of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reappeared in public after a nine-month-long absence. The reasons for her disappearance are still not known, but speculation has been rife.

Ri Sol-ju emerged in public along with Kim during an air combat training competition conducted by the Korean People’s Air Force and Defense (KPAF).

Pyongyang’s state-run mouthpiece Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported the event without many details about the presence of Ri. The exact date of the occasion is also unclear.

This is said to be the first time in nearly nine months Ri was mentioned by the North Korean state media as her last appearance was on 28 March.

Rumours have been doing the rounds that she might have been removed from Kim’s inner circle.

During the event jointly attended by Ri and Kim, the North Korean leader provided “field guidance” to the country’s air force personnel asking them maintain high vigilance. The

The KCNA dispatch said Kim “stressed that once an order of final attack is issued, they should promptly take off and mercilessly blow up the strongholds of aggression and pave a broad avenue to the units of the People’s Army advancing southward”.

The Korean peninsula has become highly unstable in recent months after the North’s nuclear and missile tests. Despite global condemnation, Pyongyang has refused to scale down any of its programmes. The regime has also reacted strongly to the recent economic sanctions announced by the UN Security Council.

Nigerian man, wife docked for duping American company.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned a man and his wife before a Lagos State High Court, Ikeja for obtaining $102,550 from an American company under the pretext of helping the company to win a federal government contract.

The man, Austine Ezeama, his wife, Juliet, and a company, Mabrubeni Nigeria Limited, were on
Wednesday arraigned before Justice O. H. Oshodi on a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence.

According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly obtained $30,570 from CIFERCOM LLC under the pretence that the money was for its registration as a company in Nigeria, preparatory to the award of a $8 million contract to the company by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Both accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecution counsel, V. O. Agboje, asked for a trial date and also requested the accused be remanded in prison.

But the defence counsel, D. C. Nkemdirum, made an application for their bail, which he said had been served the prosecution since October 10.

Justice Oshodi remanded the defendants in EFCC custody and adjourned the matter till November 21 for hearing of the bail application.

The American company had lodged a complaint with the EFCC after it was tricked into paying $102,550 as processing fees for the non-existent contract.

According to the commission, the suspects in January 2015 convinced CIFERCOM LLC to come to Nigeria for the $8million contract to be facilitated by ranking officials in the country.

Mr. Ezeama was said to have introduced his wife, Juliet Ezeama, as a Federal Government agent, who served as intermediary between them.

“After a series of communication through emails, several fees were required from the complainant to facilitate the business. Eventually the sum of $102,550 was paid to Mabrubeni Nigeria Limited owned by the Ezeamas”, the EFCC stated.

Sometime in May 2015, Mr. Ezeama was said to have further informed the complainant that the new President of Nigeria wanted the project extended to cover the whole country with a new cost of $120 Million, and that the victim was expected to pay additional $650,000.00 before June 10, 2015.

After waiting without receiving any contract, the complainant became apprehensive and approached the EFCC through his solicitors for investigation into the matter.

“He is better off than my husband in everything and my family supports my relationship with him,” she stated.

My husband denied me sex for seven years – Woman tells court

A housewife, Jelila Nurudeen, on Friday asked an Ojaoba Sharia Court, Ibadan, to put an end to the union with her husband, Nurudeen Olanrewaju, on grounds of sexual starvation for over seven years.

The mother of three in her petition alleged that her husband was subjecting her to emotional torture by starving her of sex for seven years.

“My lord, all the interventions made so far by this court has yielded no results as Olanrewaju has turned no new leaf.

“I may soon run mad if the court fails to separate us, because I can no longer withstand seven years of sexual drought.

“Should I start visiting the homes of some of the committee members set up to reconcile us to meet my sexual desire?

“Please I am ready to walk away from this union because Olanrewaju has already remarried to another wife, who is now satisfying his emotional desire,” Jelila explained.

However, Olanrewaju, who denied the allegation, rejected the divorce suit.

Olanrewaju who works at Nigeria Tobacco Company, Ibadan, said he has been living happily with Jelila and promised to still make his wife happy.

President of the court, Sheikh Ahamad Tiamiyu, advised Jelila to give peace a chance by allowing the committee raised on the matter to do their work.

Tiamiyu adjourned the case till Nov. 17, for progress report.

Husband Divorces Wife for Joining Different Political Party

A 44-year-old man, Iliasu Salami, on Thursday in Iseyin, Oyo State, lost his five-year-old marriage to irreconcilable political differences between him and his estranged wife, Rashidat.

Rashidat’s refusal to show up in court after several summonses and the evidences tendered by the husband on the political differences between them are enough to show that no love is lost between the couple, the President of a customary court, Chief Adelodun Oyegbenle, said.

“It is unfortunate that the defendant (Rashidat) did not attend any of the court proceedings despite court summonses.

“This court hereby dissolve the five-year-old union,” he ruled, and ordered Salami to pay N10,000 monthly upkeep allowance for the two children of the failed marriage.

Salami had approached the Iseyin Customary Court, seeking the dissolution of the marriage over allegations of disobedience and insubordination.

He told the court that his wife had no regard for him, adding that his opinions did not count in their affairs.

He said his wife joined a different political party against his instruction and wish. Salami, however, did not state his or ex-wife’s party.

“All efforts to resolve the issue by both families failed,” Salami said, and pleaded with the court to terminate the marriage.

According to him, it all started at about 9 p.m. on Thursday when neighbours ran outside at the shout of the wife who was seriously beaten by her husband.

“How on earth in this present modern world will a man beat up his wife over trivial issue? We learnt that the wife preventing the husband from sleeping just because he was snoring,” Oluwanishola said. He said that so many cases of divorce in the society could be prevented, if minor issues like this are promptly settled by couples.

“This is not a case of extra-marital affairs that usually lead to divorce, but a mere misunderstanding that could be controlled with little patience,’’ he said.

However, when NAN spoke with the husband, he said his wife prompted him to beat her after several warnings. “She prevented me from sleeping after having a hard day, I pleaded with her but refused,” he said. Paul said having gone through a hectic day, that he decided to have some rest but was prevented by his wife because he was snoring.

“What happened, I will say is the devils handiwork? I lost my motor bike which has been helping me to fend for the family.

“I immediately contacted the police who was able to help me get it back. I brought it back home and all these while my wife could not call to know where I was. I got home only for me to have some rest and after dozing off; my wife woke me up to tell me I was disturbing her with my snoring,” he said.

Paul who later apologised to his wife thanked the neighbours for the brotherly love they have extended to his family. The wife said the incident was due to communication gap, which was misinterpreted.

“I was angry because the husband left me and the children without telling us where he went. The couple had been living together for past nine years and the union is blessed with three children.

They want Fani Kayode dead – wife.

Following the continued detention of the former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi- Fani Kayode, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of corruption, his wife, Mrs. Precious Chikwendu, Wednesday took to social media to demand the release of her husband given his medical condition.

Chikwendu, who alleged that it was apparent that they want to kill her husband in detention, added that Fani-Kayode is ill

In a series of posts she wrote, “It is very clear that they want @realFFK (his Twitter handle) dead at all costs.

“He is a man that would never give you the pleasure of seeing him down, so saying that he isn’t ill or never slumped is just a way of trying to deny him medical attention.

“He is ill and constantly checks into the clinic at the commission and you have seen the medical reports. This is pure wickedness.”

In an earlier post she had also written, she said: “Here to all of us going through a rough patch. Be strong. You never know how strong a tea bag could be until it’s subjected to hot water.

“God never said the weapons wouldn’t form, but he said they shall not prosper. Life is not about how hard of a hit you can give but many you can take and still keep moving forward.

“Thank you all for the many prayers and support. My husband FFK is recovering after he collapsed. God is in control and this too shall pass.

“We shall prevail. We never give up no matter what. He that is down needs no fear of falling. You keep shooting, we keep moving.”

My wife is dating my pastor – Husband tells court

Worried by his wife’s adulterous acts, Mr Kolawole Okeeyi, a businessman, on Wednesday approached the Igando Customary Court in Lagos to terminate his 31-year-old marriage.

Okeeyi, 51, accused his wife, Funmilayo, with whom he had five children of infidelity.

“My wife is having an affair with my pastor, I got to know when I did not have credit on my phone and wanted to use her phone to call our pastor to report her for starving my mother of food.

“I picked her phone and I saw on the screen “sent message”. I mistakenly clicked on it and the message opened, I saw several love messages my wife sent and received from our pastor.

“I showed her the messages when she came in, but she begged me, I seized the phone and later confronted our pastor with those text messages, but he told me to do my worst.

“I also caught her with my brother in a hotel in Oyo State; I wanted to ignore them, but I later confronted them so that they will not deny later,” he said.

The petitioner said his wife was after his life and that he had been attacked on two occasions.

“In Aug. 20, 2013, I got to the front of my gate, as I honked for my children to open the gate, suddenly three men jumped down from a motorcycle, pointing a gun at me.

“But for the timely intervention of the police, I would have been killed. When I entered my house, I told my wife what happened, but she did not say anything.

“Four months later, while coming from work, three men intercepted me, pointing a gun at me to come down and enter the booth, I complied and they drove me off.

“But luckily for me, my phone rang, one of them picked it, the caller addressed me as pastor and said that I should come to the church early that I will be ministering, but I am not a pastor.

“One of the guys said that they should not kill me that I am a pastor; that in the bible God said that they should not touch his anointed or do his prophet harm.

“After a hot argument among them, they stopped the car, stripped me naked and absconded with my car.

“A good Samaritan gave me clothes to wear. When I got home, I told my wife again about the incident, but she said nothing.

“That same 2013, my only three buses that plied Port-Harcourt, Akure and Abeokuta were involved in accident and were condemned, I again informed my wife, but no response from her,” he said.

Okeeyi said because of these calamities and threat to his life, he ran away from the house he built same year to start squatting with friends.

He pleaded with the court to dissolve the union that he was no longer in love as his life was no longer safe.

However, Funmilayo, 43, trader, denied all the allegations. She said she was not having an affair with any man.

“Those text messages on my phone were forged; I never sent nor received any love messages from our pastor.

“My husband saw me and his brother in a hotel, but we are not dating, his brother just followed me to book for a room when I went for a burial in Oyo State.

She accused her husband’s family of battery.

“When I was pregnant for our fifth baby, my husband’s family stormed our house, accusing me of having an affair, they beat me to pulp, in fact, I don’t know how I got to the hospital,” she said.

The mother of five boys begged the court not to grant her husband’s wish as she was still in love.

The Court President, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, adjourned the case to Nov. 29 for further hearing.

How Fayose Stopped Us From Arresting FFK’s Wife — EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state of preventing the anti-graft agency from arresting Chikwendu Sonia, the wife of Femi Fani-Kayode, who tried to withdraw money from an account already red-flagged by the agency.
The woman and her 8-month old child were reportedly detained by the EFCC.

But the EFCC in a late statement Monday denied detaining any one, while also revealing the role of Governor Ayo Fayose in frustrating the arrest.

Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesman said Fayose stormed the bank in Ado-Ekiti with thugs to stop the arrest.

“Contrary to the media spin about the purported arrest of mother and child, a certain Chikwendu Sonia today attempted to withdraw money from an Access Bank account that had been placed on ‘Post No Debit’ Category, following the discovery of illicit cash flows into the account.

“She was intercepted by the bank while the Commission was notified but because it was late, the EFCC advised that the suspect be taken to the police station for processing and release on bail.

“They were arranging to take the suspect to the police station when Governor Ayo Fayose stormed the bank with thugs and his personal security and forcefully secured the release of the suspect, with claims that the EFCC had no power to detain anybody in his state.

“He also vowed to close down the branch of the bank.

“The said account, which had a balance of N 2,307,712.82 was flagged following investigation into the PDP Joint Trust fund when the Commission traced N1.1billion to the Zenith Bank account of Fani-Kayode.

“It was discovered that the account had two biometric identification numbers, one for Fani-Kayode and the other (with BVN 2205597283)for Sonia Chikwendu.

“The same BVN is linked to two other accounts in Diamond bank and 15 accounts in Guaranty Trust Bank”.

“My wife has mental problem, which started during her first marriage. She had a surgery that time, but there was a complication which led to the problem. Her ex-husband rejected her, saying he could not live with a mentally-ill person.

“Her family had taken her to different prayer houses for solution to no avail before I came into the picture. I assisted them with money and they decided to hand her over to me in marriage.

“I made sure she stayed indoors always. All she does is to cook and wash my clothes. However, once in a month, she goes to visit her mother and returns. We have a child together, who is about two years old. Her condition is improving, but she is not totally sound yet.”

Reports say the two men could have killed each other but for the intervention of residents who separated them.

The wife, 24-year-old Tope, said the suspect gave her N200, adding that she never met the man until the day he had canal knowledge of her.

Tope, an indigene of Osun State, said, “I have never met the man before. That day, he entered our compound and asked if I wanted to eat and I said yes.

He gave me N200 and went away.

“He later returned and asked me to UnCloth and I did. He put me on the bed and had sex with me. I knew he wasn’t my husband, but I couldn’t shout or do anything. Then my husband entered and caught him.
“The two men started fighting. I ran downstairs to call people. Our neighbours separated them.”

Man Batters His Wife In Lagos Over Missing N2,000

The police in Lagos State have launched a manhunt for a resident of Azeez Olaosebikan Street, Agege, Babatunde Igbara, after he allegedly battered his wife’s eyes.

The man reportedly rained punches on the 38-year-old woman, Gbemisola Igbara, in the presence of their four children until her eyes became swollen.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Babatunde had approached the victim on Monday morning, two days after he was released on bail from the Kirikiri prison, demanding if she took the N2,000 he kept in the room.

He was said to have accused her of stealing the money and resorted to violence when she refuted the allegation.

Our correspondent gathered that it took the intervention of the couple’s neighbours to restore order to the household while the incident was reported at the Abattoir Police Division.

Gbemisola told PUNCH Metro on Thursday that the 12-year-old marriage had been fraught with quarrels, adding that she decided to endure the assaults because of her children.

She said, “I was very weak that morning because of the stress I passed through to secure his bail from the prison over a land matter. He woke me up and asked if I took N2,000 from his clothes. I said no. When he continued to accuse me, I asked him why he thought I would steal his money when I spent over N20,000 and borrowed money from friends to facilitate his release.

“I told him to stop disturbing me. He then started punching me in the face and my eyes became swollen. My children begged him, but he refused. It was our neighbours who rescued me from him. I am fed up; but I don’t want to pack out because of my children,” she said.

Gbemisola explained that a similar incident happened about a year ago and she reported to the police at the Ile Epo division.

She said her husband’s mother prevailed on her to withdraw that case from the station.

“I can no longer bear the beating. He beats me to the point that I won’t be able to open my shop for days. I took a loan of N200,000 to start the business, but it has been difficult for me to repay it because of these troubles. I have reported to the police at the Abattoir division and they promised to get him arrested,” she added.

However, Babatunde, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone in Yoruba, denied assaulting his wife, saying she slipped during the altercation and got injured.

“I didn’t beat her. It was a lie. It was true that we had a misunderstanding that day but I never used my hands on her. She fell and hit her face on an object. I need to see you so that I can explain better. Our families have been trying to resolve it,” he said.

But some neighbours of the couple, who spoke with our correspondent, said they had advised Gbemisola to quit the relationship due to the violence.

One of them, Akeem Alabi, said, “Many people on our street know he has turned the woman to a punching bag. I decided to take her picture and post it on the internet after he beat her on Monday. I want rights activists and security agencies to come to her aid and ensure justice is served.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, had yet to reply to a text message sent to her phone on the incident as of press time.

Banker Knifed Wife To Death With 124 Blows After She Asked For Divorce

A banker killed his wife by stabbing her 124 times with a knife and an axe, a jury has heard.

Sanjay Nijhawan, 46, was struggling to cope after quitting his highly paid job with Barclays, a court heard. The crisis came to a head when his wife Sonita, 38, asked for a divorce, a jury at Guildford Crown Court heard.

Nijhawan stabbed her repeatedly in the head and neck before slitting her throat.

He was found sitting beside her body by worried family members who came to their luxury, gated
property in Weybridge, Surrey.

Opening the case, prosecutor Sally O’Neill said his defence was expected to be that he had an abnormality of mental function at the time “which substantially impaired his ability to form a rational judgement or exercise self control.”

The jury heard that after he was arrested by police, Nijhawan told officers that he had become “deranged” and had suffered a nervous breakdown.

Ms O’Neill said: “The number and nature of her cuts make it clear that she was the victim of a fatal and sustained attack.

“She had a very large number of cut and stab injuries to her neck and head.

“Underneath her body was an axe. He (Nijhawan) was sitting on the kitchen floor next to her body repeatedly stabbing himself to the legs with a small knife.

“Sonita had 124 significant injuries to her body including 40 cut and blunt force injuries to her head, of which 18 were to the back of the head, 11 to the side and 10 to the left hand side of her skull.

“These were all likely to be caused by an axe.

“There were 25 stab wounds to left side of her neck, more likely to have been caused by a knife. The defendant was immediately taken St George’s Hospital in Tooting.”

The cause of death was neck and head injuries, said the prosecuter.

Ms O’Neill said Nijhawan made Google searches before the killing on how to commit suicide and on how to identify the “soft parts of a female human skull.”

The jury was told that family relatives rushed to the mansion home after Nijhawan made bizarre phone calls and sent text messages about keys to the house.

Ms O’Neill said the husband had taken away his wife’s mobile phone, even though she was on call 24-7 as a director of two care homes run by her family.

Jurors heard he claimed he took away the phone so his wife could not tell family members about the divorce discussion before a family event on the upcoming weekend.

The court also heard that police seized a note from Nijhawan which he wrote in hospital and which stated: “I would like to issue a statement immediately offering my severe remorse.

“The mindless act has lost the life of a beautiful and amazing woman.

“I have failed in my duty as a son-in-law and a brother.”

Ms O’Neill told jurors: “It seems that in the preceding months leading up to this event Sanjay Nijhawan began to suffer from stress and anxiety partly as a result of his job and he was finding it very difficult to cope.

“He also felt under financial pressure because of the move to the house although it is not clear exactly why this was as both of the family were wealthy.”

The trial continues.

Pastor Accuses Hospital Of Removing Wife’s Womb, Damaging Bladder

A pastor with a Pentecostal ministry, Chinedu Rockson, has accused the management of Ilogbo Central Hospital in the Ajangbadi area of Lagos State of removing his wife’s womb and damaging her bladder during childbirth.

Chinedu said the hospital also detained his wife over the payment of N50,000, adding that efforts to clear the bill had been frustrated by the hospital.

It was learnt that Chinedu’s wife, Chinansa, had been referred to the hospital on August 26, 2016, after she could not be delivered of the baby at the hospital where she had her antenatal care.

The hospital reportedly commenced a caesarean section on the 42-year-old after her husband signed some documents to perfect the terms.

Chinedu explained that some hours into the operation, he was called into the theatre to sign another document, adding that nobody told him it was for the removal of his wife’s womb.

He said, “They charged N200, 000 for the operation and we negotiated for N150,000. I paid a deposit of N30,000 and they started the operation.

“They asked me to sign some papers, which I did. Some hours later, a surgeon said there had been complications and I would need to sign another document. He didn’t tell me what I was signing for or the implications. Because I was in a haste to get my wife saved, I signed the document.

“After some time, they brought out my wife from the theatre with a pipe attached to her bladder. We became worried when we discovered that few days afterwards, they didn’t remove the pipe.

“After a week, they said I should come and clear my bill of N50,000 so they could discharge her. I called a senior pastor, who presented them with a cheque. But they said they would keep her for the two weeks that the cheque would be ready to be cashed.”

Man who battered wife’s niece declared wanted by police in Lagos

A man, identified as Rasak Alabi, has battered his wife’s niece, a 27-year-old beautician, Latifat Adeyemi, for allegedly turning on an air conditioner in their house in Solebo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

According to Punch, Alabi claimed that the air conditioner consumes excessive power, and allegedly hit the victim with a spanner in the face and flogged her with a piece of cable, which led to her admission in a private hospital.

It was gathered that the victim and her grandmother had been living in the house located on Ile Eye Street for the past 10 years.

The bungalow was reportedly built by Alabi’s wife.

It was learnt that Alabi, who had earlier separated from his wife for the past 20 years, moved into the building in 2015 after reconciling with his wife, a nurse, who is based in the United States of America.

According to the report, ever since Alabi moved into the house, there had been misunderstandings, which had led to the eviction of some relatives in the house.

Latifat pointed out that she was only staying in the house because she had to cater to her grandma.

She said, “My aunt is a nurse and she is based in the US. She put her mother in the house and asked me to cater for her. Grandma and I had been living in that house for over 10 years.

“Alfa (Alabi) and my aunt separated over 20 years ago. They never had a child together. But last year, they reconciled and the family said we needed a man in the house; so he moved into the house. He evicted our last born, but I stayed behind because of grandma.

“Last week Friday, when I returned from Surulere around 7pm, I saw that he had broken into my apartment and removed the AC there. He said the AC consumed too much power.

“I made a call to my uncle and I told him that I would be packing out of the house because I was fed up. As I turned around, he hit me in the eye severally with a spanner and as I ran off, he picked a cable piece and flogged me.”

She said she went to the Ipakodo Police Station to report the incident, adding that operatives who followed her to the house met the gate locked.

Latifat said the police turned back when they could not gain entrance.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, while confirming the incident, added that the suspect had been declared wanted by the police.

“The suspect is evading arrest, but we will get him,” she added.

Man Beats Wife For Asking For Feeding Allowance

A 52-year-old man, James Oluwadairo, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating his wife and failing to provide for his children.

The accused, a driver, who resides at 28, Olarekun St., Abule Egba, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a charge of assault and neglect of duty.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Rafael Donny, told the court that the offences were committed on Aug. 18 at the residence of the accused.

He said that the accused beat his wife, Bosede when she requested for feeding allowance. “If not for one of their neighbours who intervened, the woman would have been badly injured.

“Oluwadairo has also stopped providing for his five children 13 years ago,” he said. The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 170 and 205 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias granted the accused N100,000 with a surety in like sum and adjourned the case till Sept. 28 for mention.

Eddie Murphy’s Ex Wife Nicole Loses $10m Divorce Money To a Con Man

Nicole Murphy, the mother of Eddie Murphy’s five children, lost the $10million divorce settlement she received from Eddie to a con man.

According to The Jasmine Brand, the reality TV star entrusted the money she received from her ex husband in the care of her childhood friend, Troy Stratos, but he betrayed that trust and diverted her money.

Stratos has pleaded guilty and admitted Nicole, who he had known for 34 years, gave him the money to invest in a business overseas which he had promised would earn her high interest but instead, he diverted the sum.

The Jasmine Brand adds that the trial had been set for September 12 but was changed after a federal jury found him guilty of defrauding a Philadelphia investor group out of $11.25 million.

Here’s how it happened:

“The Philadelphia group was under the impression that it was buying pre-IPO Facebook shares from Carlos Slim, with Stratos, under the name of “Ken Davis,” serving as the Mexican billionaire’s agent. But investors claim they never received the shares, and funds wired for their purchase wound up being misspent by Stratos.”
Stratos will be sentenced on November 17 for both fraud charges.

Nicole and Eddie divorced in 2006.

What A Christian Father Told His Wife Before He Was Beheaded By ISIS

Among the 21 Coptic Christian workers beheaded on a beach in Libya last year by ISIS was a father who, before he went to Libya as a migrant worker, told his wife he knew it was dangerous and that if he did not make it back alive, to please teach their children “the principles of Jesus Christ.” So testified lawyer and humanitarian Jacqueline Isaac, who met in Egypt with the families of 15 of the 21 victims and told Congress about the genocide being perpetrated by the Islamic State.

Jacqueline Isaac, vice president of the humanitarian group Roads of Success, spoke at a May 13, 2015 hearing on ISIS and religious minorities held by the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Despite the horrifice stories and documentation she presented to the committee along with other witnesses, none of the major news broadcast outlets covered the hearing — not ABC, CBS, or NBC.

Commenting on the genocidal actions of the Islamic State, which are producing many orphans, Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) asked Isaac, “If I could ask you, where is the faith of these young people?”

Isaac said, “Congressman Smith, I went to Egypt and I met the families, 15 of the 21 families that had victims that were slaughtered in Libya. I was astonished by their faith.”

Victoria Beckham Writes Letter To Her 18yr Old Self, Admits To Being Drunk When She Met Husband David

Businesswoman, fashion designer, former singer and mother of four, Victoria Beckham who stars on the cover of Vogue magazine’s October issue has written an emotional letter to her 18 year old self in which she revealed she was drunk when she met her footballer husband, David Beckham. She writes in the new October issue of Vogue:

“I know you are struggling right now. You are not the prettiest, or the thinnest, or the best at dancing at the Laine Theatre Arts college. You have never properly fitted in, although you are sharing your Surrey school digs with really nice girls. You have bad acne.

“You think the Principal has put you at the back of the end-of-year show (in a humiliatingly bright purple Lycra leotard) because you are too plump to go at the front. (This may or may not be true.)”

She continues:

“You are going to have so much fun with your clothes – PVC catsuits; chokers that say absurd things; weird spiky blonde hair. It will never occur to you that you appear ridiculous. You will turn up at awards ceremonies resembling a drag queen. But I look back at you and smile. It will add interest to your life to go from one extreme to another. I love the fact that you will feel free to express yourself.”

“Learn more about football, especially the offside rule. And yes, love at first sight does exist. It will happen to you in the Manchester United players’ lounge – although you will get a little drunk, so exact details are hazy.

“While the other football players stand at the bar drinking with their mates, you will see David standing aside with his family. (He’s not even in the first team at this stage – you are the famous one.)  And he has such a cute smile. You, too, are close to your family, and you will think how similar he feels to you. He’s going to ask for your number. (He still has the London-to-Manchester plane ticket on which you wrote it.)”

David and Victoria Beckham went on to marry in 1999 and share four children; sons Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 14, Cruz, 11, and five-year-old daughter Harper.

Man Sets Wife, Son, Daughter Ablaze Over Property

A 43-year-old teacher, Gbemisola Edward, and her 11-year-old daughter, Dolapo, have been confirmed dead at an Ogun State hospital after suffering from severe burns.

The woman’s husband, Joshua, was said to have poured petrol on her, their daughter, and his seven-year-old son, Samson, and set fire on them.

It was learnt the incident happened on Thursday on Augustine Street, Ire Akari Estate, in the Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State, after a disagreement between the couple.

Gbemisola’s son, Joshua Babatunde, 16, who escaped by a whisker, said his stepfather had wanted his mother to sell their three-bedroomed apartment, but she refused.

He said, “It was the scream of my mother that woke me up. Dolapo and Samson were also set ablaze. I wanted to put out the fire when my stepfather poured petrol on me as well. Before he returned with matches, I managed to escape and reported at the Ifo Police Station.

“He was working with a factory but was sacked some months ago. He then told my mother to sell the house so that he could use the money to start a business. But my mother said she would never sell the house she struggled to build.

“We moved into the house in January. The following month, he and Samson started living with us. It was a woman at our former residence in Iyana Ipaja (Lagos State) that bore Samson for him. He used to beat mum while we were in Iyana Ipaja.”

It was gathered that Joshua fled immediately the incident happened, while the victims were admitted to Aron Hospital, a private facility in the area.

He said, “Their relationship had been fraught with quarrels since when he was living with my sister in our house at Iyana Ipaja. There was a time he threatened to kill her with a machete. He stole her money and fled.

She said her husband had been threatening her again and that she had told him to leave by the end of August.

“It was on Thursday afternoon that I got a call that he set her and the children ablaze.”

My Husband Gives Me 10 Naira Feeding Allowance, Wife Tells Court

An Ojaoba Panel of Sharia Court of Arbitration in Ibadan on Friday heard that a man, Abdulrasheed Yusuf, gives his wife, Sidikat, N10 per meal as upkeep allowance for family of six.

Sidikat had asked the court to dissolve her 18-year-old marriage to Yusuf for alleged infidelity and starvation.

“He was giving me N10 as feeding allowance either as breakfast or lunch because he said he just lost his job.

“Even when he got another job, Yusuf did not change and in fact, the situation worsened as we continued to depend on concoction.

“Yusuf, most of the times fed on bread and egg with sardine while the children and I took gari or eba.

“My lord, right from the beginning of my stay with Yusuf as his wife, I started experiencing different kinds of bad treatment of which starvation was number one.

“Worst still, Yusuf started having sexual intercourse with my younger sister who came to assist me when I was sick and in fact impregnated her.

“My lord, I still managed to endure with him for 10 years and when I saw that things will not change, I moved out of his house.

“As if those are not enough, he could not pay for any of his children hospital bill, let alone mine.

“During our wedding, so as to make things easy for him, I barely requested him to give me my favourite Islamic music cassette as my bride price and I am ready to refund it,” Sidikat explained.

Sidikat also said that her husband impregnated her younger sister.

However, Yusuf strongly opposed the divorce, but failed to address any of the fundamental issues of starvation and infidelity raised by his wife.

“My lord, till the end of time, I am not parting ways with Sidikat.

“I am ready to welcome her back into my home any day anytime,” Yusuf said.

In his judgment, the President of the court, Sheikh Hamad Tirmisiyu, held that it was terrible for any husband to be so irresponsible to the extent of being unable to fend for his household.

He added that Sharia considered inability of a husband to adequately provide for his family as a wicked act and ungodly.

“Obviously, there is no true love between Sidikat and Yusuf because the husband cannot respond to the fundamental issues raised by the wife.

“Accordingly, Sidikat shall refund the Islamic cassette which stood as bride price on wedding day to Yusuf.

“The children shall determine who to stay with between Sidikat and Yusuf.

“In addition, Yusuf shall pay a monthly feeding allowance of N10, 000 for the upkeep of the four children until they are ready to stay with him,” he said.

Infertile Man Accused Of Mutilating His Wife For Not Giving Him Children

A Kenyan man has been accused of cutting off his wife’s hands and mutilating her for not giving him children — even though doctors told him he was the one who was infertile.

Jackline Mwende’s husband is accused of attacking her in their home in Machakos, Kenya with a machete in late July, the Los Angeles Times reported on Monday. According to Mwende, 27, her husband, Stephen Ngila, slashed her face, leaving her disfigured, and cut off both of her hands. A neighbor told local media that area residents heard screaming and called the police. She said that upon entering the house, she saw rooms spattered with blood and a severed hand on the floor.

Mwende told The LA Times that the marriage had started out happy, but eventually turned sour over the couple’s fertility issues. She said that after a doctor told them that Ngila was infertile in 2014, her husband started drinking and beating her. Her parents pleaded with her to leave, but her church leaders advised her to stay in the marriage.

“In most cases, every time there was a problem, I would run to our pastor,” she said. “The pastor would always tell me, ‘Jackie, please persevere. That man will come to change one day,’” she said. “I always wanted to protect my marriage so I decided to stay with him.”

EFCC Arrests Man For Duping Wife Of N6.7m

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has arrested one Chike Nnaemeka, for allegedly tricking an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps into marrying him and paying for the wedding.

Nnaemeka, aka Dr. Justified, was said to have duped his victim, Nkechi Ani, of N6.7m.

The EFCC, in a statement by its spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said Nnaemeka, who claimed to be a gynaecologist, allegedly collected the sum under different requests. The victim was reportedly introduced to him by one of her classmates at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State.

The suspect was also said to have tricked Ani into marrying him and they were joined in a traditional wedding on June 6, 2015, without informing her that he was married with three children.

In her petition, the complainant said, ‘‘During the wedding preparation, Justified brought up so many stories bordering on cultural issues that I or anyone from my family is not supposed to visit his home town until after my marriage. He also said that the tradition of his place as a lone prince demanded that I sponsored every financial aspect of the traditional marriage, but that he would refund me to the last one naira I spent.”

According to the commission, the suspect continued to deceive his victim and even claimed to have property that both Zenith Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc were purportedly interested in buying.

The suspect was said to have shown the complainant some documents of the property, and requested her to raise some money to enable him to complete the process.

The complainant allegedly transferred some amounts to the suspect, after being assured that he would refund her.

But on December 23, 2015, the suspect allegedly left the house on the pretext that he was going to sign the agreement papers with the banks to finalise the transaction.  Ani  also alleged that the suspect stole the sum of $3000 belonging to her boss.

Jonathan, Wife, Under Probe Over Alleged Link To Niger Delta Bombings

The Nigerian presidency has ordered a discreet investigation of former president, Goodluck Jonathan, and his wife, Patience, over the spate of bombings of oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta.

A top government source, quoting intelligence reports, said that it had now been established that some of the oil installations bombed in the Niger Delta had actually been mined while President Jonathan was in power, just before the 2015 election, by some of the militants and operatives known to be very close to him.

“The mining was meant to be a “Plan B should they be removed from Aso Rock,” said the official, who requested not to be named because of the sensitive nature of the matter.

“The plan then was to cause confusion if the 2015 presidential election did not go as expected, in favour of the then incumbent.”

“However, when the former president surprisingly conceded the election to President Mohammadu Buhari, according to the source, there was both disappointment and confusion in the camp of those who had designed the plan, causing a suspension of the whole agenda.

“But by February this year, it was learnt, the plan was reopened as several of the backers were getting investigated on different corruption cases.

“Mr. Jonathan himself was concerned that himself and his wife could be prosecuted, including on money-laundering charges where investigators said evidence against the wife has already been amassed.

“It was at that point that the bombing activities under the banner of the Niger Delta Avengers started.

“Even the former President himself had been reported while on a foreign trip as saying he knew he was under probe. This was after the plan to start the bombing had become fully operational according to intelligence reports.”

Husband, 18, & Wife, 71, Celebrate Their Bliss

Gary, 18, and Almeda Hardwick, 71, of Sevierville weren’t looking for love when they saw each other at the funeral of Almeda’s son in June 2015, but that’s exactly what they found with each other months later.

Gary, who’s always been attracted to older women, was still in a troubled relationship with a 77-year-old woman and depressed.

Almeda was mourning her son Robert’s death from complications due to seizures. He was 45.

Love was in their future, however.

Gary and Almeda met again in September 2015. His aunt Lisa Harrell, who was married to Robert, reintroduced him to Almeda after he had ended his other relationship.

“It was like an instant connection. (There was) so much chemistry there. We both loved music,” Gary said while the two sat next to each other on the edges of matching red love seats in their living room.

“I had prayed about my soul mate for like two years, so, you know, I was lonely,” said Almeda. “I had no one, so God sent him to me.”

“When I looked into her eyes I knew it,” he said. “Her eyes were a dead giveaway.”

“His were too … I knew,” she said.

After dating three weeks, they got married on Oct. 26, 2015, inside Harrell’s condo.

Almeda was 70. Gary was 17, and his mother gave her consent. His dad passed away when he was 15.

The wedding date was six days before Gary would turn 18, but he said he couldn’t wait that long to make Almeda his wife.

“I just knew she was the one, and she knew I was the one, and we just knew we were right for each other, so it really didn’t matter,” he said.

As more of their friends and family found out about the marriage, the Hardwicks said they received support.

A local chief, Sylvanus Ani, who spoke on the incident saiD

“Both of them went to the farm and did not return home. Usain Bolt’s Mother Wants Him To Find a Wife But Sadly, She Will Have To Wait Five More Years

Jamaica’s Usain Bolt became the first athlete to win three Olympic 100m titles by beating American Justin Gatlin to gold at Rio 2016 Games. The 29-year-old ran 9.81 seconds in his final Olympics to replicate his success at Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

His mom, Jennifer Bolt, thinks that’s cool and all, but what she’s really interested in is having grandchildren. Really Soon. Lol

“I would hope he’ll settle down, get married and start his family,” Jennifer Bolt told CNN’s Don Riddell in a segment that aired Saturday about what she hopes Bolt will do after the Olympics end.
“I know he’ll settle down because he has said it,” she said. “He told me many times that he’s going to start his family.

But in an interview with the Telegraph last month, Bolt said he wont be walking down the aisle anytime soon.
“I’ve thought about it, but I know I’m not going to get married before 35, for sure,”
He said he doesn’t want to wind up like Wayne Rooney, the Manchester United forward who married his high school sweetheart in 2008 when he was 21 years old.
But for Bolt, who will turn 30 on Aug. 21, the whole having a family thing still sounds like some sort of trap.
“Like, Rooney got married so young — all the footballers that are English, as soon as they get really famous they have to get married. And I think it’s unfair to them,”  he said.
“It’s hard for you to stay with one woman because girls are literally just throwing themselves at you. You get famous, there’s so much pressure of girls wanting you. And for you to get married at 21, you have not lived one bit.”

Man Murders Wife’s Lover On Matrimonial Bed

A 32-year-old businessman, Ezekiel Igbokwe, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife’s lover, Victor Olatundun.

Igbokwe was said to have killed Olatundun after he caught him having sex with his wife at their matrimonial home. The suspect allegedly committed the offence at about 12am at Peace Lodge on Itura Street, Awa Ijebu, Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The suspect, who committed the crime on Wednesday, July 27, was arrested by the police the following day.

Igbokwe and his 28-year-old wife were among the 23 suspects paraded at the Ogun State Police Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday, for various offences ranging from murder to illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Igbokwe, who said he was a businessman, explained that he had returned from his trip to Onitsha and met Victor on top of his wife on their matrimonial bed. He said he picked a machete in the toilet and cut the victim in the neck and hand.

Olatundun reportedly died on the way to the hospital. Igbokwe, who deals in electronics, said he was born in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.

He said, “I travelled to Onitsha on July 25, and when I came back on July 27, I met a man inside my room making love to my wife. Then we started fighting. The man was stronger than me. When I saw he could overpower me, I got a cutlass in my toilet and dealt him blows in the hand and neck. On the way to the hospital, the fuel in the car finished and he died.”

Igbokwe said he committed the crime due to anger, adding that he never meant to kill the victim. He claimed that he had never met Olatundun before, saying he also never suspected that his wife was having an extra-marital affair with anyone.

Punch Metro learnt that Igbokwe and his wife, Juliet, have three children aged nine, seven and five. Juliet, who sobbed intermittently, said her alleged lover had been pressurising her for a relationship for some time.

She explained that she had always told him she was married, but the victim never gave up until he ended up at their matrimonial home on that night. Juliet, who said she sold snuff, said Victor was her supplier and he pestered her for six months before she finally gave in.

She said she suspected that the deceased used a charm on her, as she could not explain how it all happened. She said, “He had been disturbing me that he wanted to marry me, but I said I was married.

“On the day of the incident, I really can’t say if he used a charm on me. All I know is that he called me that he wanted to see me and I told him not to come; he knew my house and when he came, I didn’t know what happened.

“He used to come and deliver snuff to me in the house. On the day of the incident, he told me he was coming from somewhere and that it was already late. He wanted to sleep in our place till the next day. He didn’t know that my husband was away. He tried to sleep with me, but later he didn’t.”

Juliet, who claimed that she got married to her husband in 2005, said the husband did not take good care of her and the children.
She said their marriage had been turbulent and fraught with fights and quarrels.

The mother of three said each time there was a fight, her husband would leave the house for months.

Man Beats Wife To Death For Denying Him Sex

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ court has ordered the remand of a 42-year-old man, Josiah Johnson, in prison custody for allegedly beating his wife to death.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 3 at Erio-Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

He said that the accused, on the said date, unlawfully caused the death of his wife, Mrs Julianah Johnson by beating her to death.

According to him, the husband wanted sexual intercourse with his wife, now deceased, but she declined saying she did not want to get pregnant after having seven children.

He told the court that the man, infuriated by his wife’s refusal, beat her to submission and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her, all of which led to her death.

Oriyomi said the offence contravened Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State. 2012.

The prosecutor, however, sought an adjournment of the matter as he still needed legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The plea of the accused was not taken because of the development while his counsel, Mr Tunde Falade, did not object to the request for a short adjournment pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.

Magistrate Taiwo Ajibade consequently remanded the accused in prison custody and adjourned the case to September 12.

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega Names His Wife As Running Mate

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has named his wife as his running mate and candidate for vice-president as he seeks re-election for a third term.

First Lady Rosario Murillo already has a prominent role as the chief government spokeswoman and is widely seen as sharing power with her husband.

She appears on Nicaraguan television almost every day.

Critics accuse the first couple of running Nicaragua – which has elections in November – like a personal fiefdom.

While President Ortega rarely speaks to the media, his wife is regularly seen on TV discussing policy and promoting her own brand of New Age spirituality.

Mother of the president’s seven children, she is fluent in English and French in addition to being a renowned poet.

She also has a reputation for wearing colourfully extravagant outfits and jewellery more commonly seen in the hippy 1960s.

Correspondents say many Nicaraguans see Ms Murillo as wielding the most power in her country because of her higher public profile.

Husband and wife officially submitted their candidacy papers in the capital Managua, accompanied by the legal adviser of their Sandinista party.

Hundreds of Sandinista supporters cheered the couple when they left the building.

But opposition supporters are concerned her promotion may herald the rise of a new family dynasty in the impoverished Central American nation.

Mr Ortega, 70, is a former left-wing guerrilla who formed part of the government junta following the Sandinista revolution against the dictatorship of the Somoza family, which ruled Nicaragua for four decades.

The Cuban-inspired Sandinistas seized power in 1979.

The party lost elections in the 1990s, but Mr Ortega returned to power in January 2007, after a successful election campaign.

“Don’t Marry A Woman Who Cannot Cook” – Pastor Adeboye On Marriage [Video]

Pastor Adeboye On Marriage – The issue of cooking in marital homes is a common debate on social media, with arguments for and against whose duty it is

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has his own opinion on the topic, and he’s certainly very traditional.

According to the Vanguard, Adeboye, while speaking to his congregation, advised his young male congregation not to marry lazy woman and women who can’t cook.

Don’t ever marry outside the church and you have no reason to marry outside RCCG,” Adeboye is quoted as saying to his congregation.

“The reason is that if you are both from the same church even when trouble comes it is easier for the pastors to handle it! “Don’t marry a girl simply because she can sing! In the choir there are some people that can sing but they are fallen angels!

Marry a prayer warrior! If a girl cannot pray for one hour, don’t marry her. Don’t marry a girl who is lazy! Don’t marry a girl who cannot cook, she needs to know how to do chores and cook because you cannot afford to be eating out all the time.”

Don’t marry a girl who is worldly! If you do, you have carried what you’ll worship for the rest of your life!” he advised.

Man Slaps Wife Dead Over N100

For having the effrontery to retaliate when her husband slapped her, the woman received the second slap that sent her to the great beyond. But the 36-year husband, Onyekachi Anele, is currently cooling his heels in the custody of Imo State Police Command.

Already, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, has not only ordered the transfer of the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, but has equally directed that a thorough investigation be carried out into the circumstances that led to the woman’s death.

Investigations revealed that Anele and his late wife, Chikodi, were residents of Obiniezena in Owerri North Local Government Area, before the tragedy struck.

Anele, who had two children with his late wife, blamed the incident on the alleged effrontery of his spouse in insulting him over N100. He said: “When she insulted me over N100, I got angry and slapped her. But she immediately retaliated. I was shocked by her effrontery. I slapped her a second time. She fell down and fainted.”

While answering a question, the suspect who had since become very sober, said that he loved his wife and had no intention of killing her. He said: “I love my wife. I had no intention to kill her. It was a little misunderstanding and annoyance that prompted me to slap her and she died.”

The suspect recounted that his late wife had a son by another man before their marriage and that they had been living together peacefully and have two children. He added that their first baby, a girl, is four years old; while the second child, a boy, is just a year old.

Okorocha Praises Wife For Building Skills Acquisition Centres

Wife of Imo State governor,  Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, has been commended for embarking on projects that touch the lives of the people of the state, especially the unemployed, indigent widows and orphans in the society,  by building and commissioning skills acquisition centres in the state.

Handing down the commendation during the commissioning ceremony and first matriculation of students of the newly built ultra-modern skills acquisition centres in the three senatorial zones of Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe christened “Nneoma Skills Acquisition Centre”, the State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, said that if only the previous wives of former governors had done the same,  unemployment in the society would have been reduced.

Describing the construction of the centres as a step in the right direction in view of the nation’s prevalent disturbing economic climate, the governor expressed the desire to link them with the relevant department of the State Polytechnic so as to design requisite certificates that would be awarded to the students when they graduate.

According to him, “Education alone is not just preparation for life, but it is life itself. The best form of education is that which allows one to develop the talent inside thereby making oneself his/ her own boss. This great initiative needs  not to be re-emphasized. It calls for all and sundry to support the first lady of Imo State”.

How Husband Killed Wife Over Inheritance

Late Fatima Ibrahim had closed from her place of work,  Zubairu Pilot Primary school in Dutsinma town where she teaches Basic Science. Passing through her family home, where she exchanged pleasantries with relatives, she retired home at her residence at the Low-Cost Housing Estate. Little did family and friends know that they were saying final farewell to her, as her lifeless body was discovered the next day in bed, with blood trickling from her mouth, and bruises on one side of her face.
The deceased, a 32-year-old mother,  was married to  Umar Manu, a staff of the Federal University Dutsinma, Information and Communication Department, who hails from Zaria, Kaduna State and is the prime suspect in the case. The couple have a three-year-old son.

It was gathered that trouble started for late Fatima when her father, Alhaji Ibrahim Habibu, died in December 2014 and she inherited his wealth. He was until his death a regional manager with a major bank in Sokoto.
According to late Fatima’s uncle and spokesman of the family, Babangida Habibu, since the death of the father, Manu went all-out to get his wife’s share of the inheritance divided among late Alhaji Habibu’s children. He said: “On our part as family, we resolved to do all possible to protect his property, and committee was set up to share the inheritance appropriately, making sure accounts were opened for each and every one, with each share of money lodged within.”
Late Fatima’s uncle said about seven months back, his niece reported her husband’s changing attitude and the family had to intervene, and invited him along with his parents to iron things out. But, Habibu said, after a while she complained again. “It was at this point that she chose to move out to a new place, where he still visits on the pretence of wanting to see his son,” he said.
Habibu said: “Manu had earlier been threatening Fatima for a while, and even on that fateful day he called to ask her to make available N800,000 for him to settle some debts. Mark you, she had always tried to let him know that the money he assumes she had was not in her custody, but he never wanted to hear that.”
Manu, according to Habibu, visited the deceased at her residence on the day the murder was perpetrated, at about 8:30pm, entering in and out of the compound twice before he finally left after 11:00pm. “But the next day, Fatima’s maid met her lifeless body on the bed and raised alarm,” he said, adding that Manu was apprehended and handed over to the police where he has owned up, and confessed to the killing, even narrating how he did it.
According to late Fatima’s uncle, the deceased’s family have said all they want now is for the law to take its course.
State Commissioner of Police, Abdullahi Usman, who confirmed the arrest of Manu, said investigation has opened up on the matter.
Late Fatima was born in 1984, and bagged a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.

Panama Papers: Why I Failed To Declare My Wife’s Assets- Saraki

Last September the CCB slammed false asset declaration charges on Mr. Saraki, accusing the Senate President, among other things, of failure to declare his assets in full.

Under the code of conduct law, a public office holder is required to declare his own assets, those of his wife as well as assets in the names of his children below the age of 18.

The Senate President maintained that he did not fail to declare assets belonging to his wife in secret offshore territories, adding that he, in his different asset declarations, included properties owned individually by himself and his wife.

“The property in question forms part of Dr Saraki’s wife’s family asset,” Mr. Saraki said. “It is public knowledge that Mrs. Saraki comes from a family of independent means and wealth with numerous and varied assets acquired over decades in family estates and investments

“Furthermore, the law only requires a public officer to declare both his own assets and those held by his spouse and his children under 18 years of age. The law does not require a public officer to declare assets held by the spouse’s family.

“It is not expected by the law that a public officer should declare such assets held in the spouse’s family estate. Indeed, the Code of Conduct form does not make provision for declaration of spouse’s family assets,” he stated.

Indeed, Toyin Saraki hails from the rich and famous Ojora family of Lagos. She married Bukola Saraki in 1991.

The hidden properties in offshore territories the Senate President failed to declare were acquired in 2004 and 2011 respectively.

They are not part of the Ojora’s family estate and were not acquired through inheritance.

They are owned by Mrs. Saraki, as shown in the offshore documents obtained by this newspaper.

Woman Visits Ex-Husband’s Home, Murders Wife

A jilted woman stormed a Nairobi home of her ex-husband and murdered his current wife in cold blood, police have said. Kasarani police are holding three suspects in connection to the murder of the 35-year-old woman at Greenwood estate in Kasarani.

The victim, only identified as Wanja, was found in the living room lying in a pool of blood by the caretaker of the house on the night of March 29, 2016.

The caretaker told police that he went into the house only to find the man’s ex-wife in the company of an unidentified man cleaning blood stains from the walls.

He then called the brother of the victim’s husband to inform him of the tragic incident, before alerting the police.

Kasarani OCPD Robinson Mboloi told Nairobi News, “The woman is an ex-wife of the owner of the said building and we have arrested the two suspects, a woman and a young man who were found wiping blood on the floor by the caretaker of the house.”

He added that although it’s the caretaker who reported the matter to the police, they still had to detain him to ascertain if he was involved or not.

“The case is still being investigated and once the investigations are completed we will take them to court. For now all three suspects are in Police custody,” Mboloi said.

EgyptAir Plane Hijacked To Cyprus, Most Passengers Freed

A man thought to be strapped with explosives hijacked an Egyptian plane on a flight between Alexandria and Cairo on Tuesday and forced it to land in Cyprus, Egyptian officials said.

After the EgyptAir plane landed at Larnaca airport, the hijacker released all the people onboard except four foreign passengers and the crew, EgyptAir said.

About 60 people, including seven crew, had been onboard, Egyptian and Cypriot officials said.

Cyprus broadcasting (CYBC) reported that the hijacker may have personal motives. He had an ex-wife in Cyprus, CYBC said.

“The negotiations with the hijacker have resulted in the release of all the plane passengers with the exception of the crew and five foreigners,” the airline said in a statement, but it later changed the figure to four foreigners still held.

Egypt’s Civil Aviation Ministry said the plane’s pilot, Omar al-Gammal, had informed authorities that he was threatened by a passenger wearing a suicide explosives belt and forced him to land in Larnaca.

A Cyprus Foreign Ministry official said he could not confirm the man was rigged with explosives. The hijacking occurred in Cyprus’s flight information region.

Witnesses said the hijacker threw a letter on the apron of the airport in Larnaca, written in Arabic, asking that it be delivered to his ex-wife, who is Cypriot.

The plane was an Airbus 320, Egypt’s aviation ministry said.

Egyptian state media named the hijacker as Ibrahim Samaha, an Egyptian, but gave no other details about him.

Passengers on the plane included eight Britons and 10 Americans, three security sources at Alexandria airport said.

Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades said: “It looks like at least 49 of the passengers have been freed. That is all I have to say” he told reporters.

Israel scrambled warplanes in its airspace as a precaution in response to the hijacking, according to an Israeli military source.

Egypt’s vital tourism industry was already reeling from the crash of a Russian passenger plane in the Sinai in late October.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has said it was brought down by a terrorist attack. Islamic State has said it planted a bomb on board, killing all 224 people on board.

Cyprus has seen little militant activity for decades, despite its proximity to the Middle East.

A botched attempt by Egyptian commandos to storm a hijacked airliner at Larnaca airport led to the disruption of diplomatic relations between Cyprus and Egypt in 1978.

In 1988, a Kuwaiti airliner which had been hijacked from Bangkok to Kuwait in a 16-day siege had a stopover in Larnaca, where two hostages were killed.

77 Year Old Man Divorces Wife Over Sex Starvation

A 77-year-old retired engineer on Wednesday pleaded with an Agboyi-Ketu Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve his 23-year-old marriage, alleging that his wife often starved him of sex.

The septuagenarian, Mr Kola Fagbule, whose address was not disclosed, told the court that his 51-year-old wife, Beatrice, always denied him sex anytime he demanded for it.

“She always starves me of sex whenever I am in the mood and I don’t want to have prostate cancer.

“At my age, I am supposed to be enjoying sex now and not when I am gone; I don’t want to die before my time,” he told the court.

Fagbule also accused Beatrice, principal of a school, of not caring for his welfare, adding that there was no more love between them.

“I am tired of her and I don’t love her anymore,” he said.

He pleaded that the court should dissolve the estranged union, saying that he could no longer tolerate Beatrice’s conduct.

The respondent, Beatrice, did not deny the allegations, but told the court that her husband was a womanizer, “party-type’’ and jobless.

She also asked the court to dissolve the union which had produced a child, a university undergraduate.

The Court President, Mr O. T. Williams, adjourned the case to April 4 for “review of facts of the matter.

Pastor Seeks Marriage Dissolution Because His Wife Told Congregation He Is A Ritualist

A pastor, Michael Temiloluwa, last Friday prayed a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan to dissolve his union with his wife, Funmilayo, over her maligning and perpetual trouble-making attitude.

According to Temiloluwa, his wife had told the congregation in his church that he was planning to use her for rituals. He told the court: “Funmilayo has over a period of time tarnished my image, not only in our neighbourhood and in the church, but also in other public fora, by lying that I have engaged in unholy means as a pastor.

“I have tried every possible means of getting her to discontinue with these behaviours. I have even reported her to her relatives, but all to no avail.

“Worst still, she is an unrepentant trouble-maker, who uses all sorts of evil means to achieve her purpose. In fact, Funmilayo has neglected her role as a wife in order to make things difficult for me. In her typical disobedience, she sometimes leave my home for two months without my consent,” Temiloluwa, said.

However, his wife, Funmilayo, even though did not deny the allegations against her, claimed that her husband was far away from her. “Temiloluwa never sat down with me as a husband to discuss any issue, but rather preferred going to other people’s homes for unnecessary discussion,” Funmilayo stated.

She, however, refuted the allegation of being a troublemaker. The presiding President of the court, Mr. Ademola Odunade, however, adjourned judgment in the case till March 30, 2016, but ordered both parties to attend the court on that date with some of their relatives and the two children produced by the union.

Pastor Catches His Wife With Choirmaster In Hotel

Some marriages these days are worse than boyfriend and girlfriend relationship! A middle aged pastor in a new generation church in Asaba, Delta State, has revealed how he caught his own wife live having s*x with the choirmaster of his church. Just imagine the nonsense!

The pastor who spoke to the press in Asaba said that report of his wife dating the choirmaster had got to his ears but he was finding it difficult to believe until he eventually caught them live in the act.

Explaining that he has been married to her for 12 years without a child, the pastor said that the
adulterous lady he got married to had exposed him to public ridicule.

“I have been inundated with reports about my wife having s*x with the choirmaster, but I kept my ears to the ground until the fateful day I was called to a hotel around Ezeani Avenue, Asaba where I caught my wife pants down in the hotel room.

“I have been married to her in the last 12 years without a child, she has exposed me to the winds; people spread all kinds of rumours about me.”

He said that the choirmaster, on interrogation, admitted to the crime and begged for forgiveness.

It was gathered that the wife had been warned by the church members, who had earlier suspected that she was involved in an illicit relationship with the choirmaster.

The warnings fell on deaf ears as the love birds continued their s*xual relationship with pride.

A member of the church, Rosemary Iwoha, who once stumbled on the choirmaster and the pastor’s wife in the church neck deep kissing, said, “I met them kissing one day and I reported to our Daddy about it.”

The pastor said the adulterous wife has left his house and necessary action would be taken against her.

Husband Is Shocked As ‘Dead’ Wife Turns Up On TV Two Years After He Buried Her

A grieving husband who believed he had buried his wife after she was killed in a road accident was shocked when she popped up on a popular TV programme.
Abragh Mohamed held a funeral for his beloved wife after she was thought to have been killed in a crash.
He was told by doctors in a Casablanca hospital that the woman, who hasn’t been named, had passed away from her “serious” injuries.

But she turned up on a TV programme designed to reconnect loved ones who have lost contact over the years.
Two years after her ‘death’, family members sat down to watch the popular Moroccan television series ‘Al Mujtafun (Desaparecidos)’ or ‘Al Mujtafun (Disappeared)’.
It was then that Abragh’s “deceased” wife phoned in, saying she had lost contact with her husband and gave his name and former address.

The “widower” wasn’t watching the programme when she phoned in to trace him but friends were and they broke the shock news to him.
He told Spanish press:

“I did not know it was a different body that we buried and my wife was still alive.”

Questions are now being asked as to what went wrong in the first place, why the woman took two years to get in touch and where she had been.

She had lived in the small mountain town of Azilal. Her husband was told by the doctors that she probably wouldn’t survive but they needed the bill to be paid in any event.
He therefore travelled the four hours back to his home and when he returned with the cash, was told his wife had died.
Later, he received what he thought was her body, wrapped in a shroud and already in a coffin which he took back to Azilal for her burial.

Family Suspects Foul Play In Ocholi, Wife, Son’s Death

The Federal Government has promised to investigate how the driver of the Sport Utility Vehicle, in which the Minister of State for Labour, Mr. James Ocholi (SAN); his wife, Blessing; and son, Joshua, died along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway on Sunday, was employed.

The Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige, stated this on Monday while responding to the call by the relatives of the deceased, including Ocholi’s uncle, Abdallah Aliu; another relative, Paul Audu; and the immediate younger sister to the late Blessing, who did not want her name mentioned, that the driver be investigated.

“The acting Permanent Secretary is here, she is the one in charge of human resources. We will find out and investigate it. We will do, but I can tell you that our personal drivers are known to us and we both keep our personal drivers. We will find out and investigate this,” Ngige said.

The Ocholi family is working on some theories concerning the accident.

The family members believed that the driver of a car that somersaulted several times would ordinarily be unconscious and would not take photographs of the deceased and upload them on social media.

They also contended that the driver and the orderly should have cordoned off the place and evacuated the corpses as this had been the tradition whenever a VIP was involved in an accident.

Aliu said, “Distinguished Senator Ngige, I know you very well. When James Ocholi was told to work with you, I knew he was in good hands because the last time I saw you was in Anambra State. We ate with you in your house as a governor.

“This man that just died is not a lone person. We leave this responsibility in your care. Whoever recruited the driver and posted (redeploy) him should be investigated. It can happen to anybody, it can happen to any minister. It can happen because it has happened.

“So, we want to know who recruited the driver, and at what speed (he was during the trip) to the extent that the corpse of the deceased cannot even be recognised. Can you imagine that? I am worried, it is worrisome.”

He also shed light on his allegations later during a telephone interview.

Aliu added, “There was a kind of foul play in the whole exercise, which is very worrisome. Apparently, the driver who drove the car was the same person who took the photo of the dead man and sent it all over the Internet – whatsApp and others. So, the question is: how come that the driver of the vehicle in the same car was able to take the picture of the dead man?

“The side of the door, where the Honourable Minister sat, was not properly locked because after the car somersaulted, the thing flung him and so he had a terrible and fatal damage that his body was beyond recognition. There was a foul play in Ocholi’s death.

“While I was in his house, I already knew because those who conspired and plotted it (the death) became jittery because I have never been to that house and they don’t know me. But somehow, they became jittery, scared and worried.

“This thing they did is political, it is a political war and some people want to score some political points against the system somehow. The death of Ocholi is quite suspicious.

“So, I had to hurriedly leave because God has made me to know what happened and we know that they will get the people who are responsible. When you are innocent, God will always uncover how certain things happened. Ocholi’s death is a great loss to the common people of Nigeria. And the spirit of the common people of Nigeria is fighting back.

“The perpetrators want to derail the focus of this administration. They are looking for every way to put a wedge in the wheel of success. I can specifically pinpoint those who plotted these things. What they are trying to do now is to knock heads together and the earlier we get rid of them out of that place, the better.

“As we were there, they were trying to get the contacts of the ministers that came there for condolence, making phone calls and reporting back to whoever is their manipulator.

“They decided to get rid of Ocholi to derail the focus of the government. Ocholi was not smart enough to know that these things could happen. They have lost, failed and we will ask God to forgive them because they have taken a soul that they cannot create.”

The Federal Executive Council will on Wednesday hold a special session to pay tribute to the late Ocholi.

Man Kills Wife, 8 Children, 2 Sisters & Parents, Commits Suicide

A 35-year-old chartered accountant allegedly stabbed and killed 14 members of his family and then committed suicide by hanging himself, around 30km from India’s financial capital Mumbai. The incident occurred on 28 February.

Hansil Warekar stabbed eight children, his wife, three sisters and parents at his bungalow at Ghodbadar road in Thane district at 2am IST (8.30pm GMTon 27 February). Local police said there was a party organised at his residence on Saturday (27 February) after which all the family members had gone to sleep, when the accused may have attacked them.

“Prima facie evidence suggests that the accused bolted all the doors of the house and murdered his family while they were asleep with a knife that we found near his body. The accused then hanged himself after killing his family. There were three rooms in the house. While he was in a room with his wife and two daughters on the first floor, his parents and sisters were in separate rooms on the ground floor,” said joint commissioner of Thane Police Ashutosh Dumbare.

Police learnt of the incident when one of the victims raised an alarm and Hansil’s in-laws who were in a house nearby called them. “Hansil slit the upper part of this victim’s throat. She survived the attack and screamed for help. The survivor’s in-laws, who were in the neighbouring house heard her cries and tried opening the door, but it was locked. The in-laws broke open the grill of a window on the ground floor and entered the house. It was then that the police were alerted about the incident,” the joint commissioner added.

Now, police are waiting for Hansil’s sister Subia Bharmar, the lone survivor of the attack, who has been admitted to a hospital, to reveal the reason behind the incident. “We have recorded the survivor’s statement. However, the exact cause that triggered her brother to kill her family and himself is still unclear. Our investigation is still underway,” Dumbare said.

The murder weapon, a knife, was found near Hansil’s body.

I Caught My Wife With Her Boyfriend In My House, Man Tells Court

A middle-aged man, Dare Falana, on Tuesday told an Igando Customary Court that he caught his wife, Ganiyat, eating “Tantalizer’’ take-away with her boyfriend in his living room.

Dare had urged the court to dissolve his marriage blessed with three children because of his wife’s infidelity, sex starvation and frequent fighting.

“Usually I come home late at night, but on this faithful day I decided to come home early, only for me to meet her with her boyfriend eating Tantalizers in our home.

“I was too shocked to say anything; I left them there and went out but by the time I came back the man had left.

“There was a time I went to Abuja before I came back she got into a fight and was arrested. I spent the N40, 000 I brought from Abuja on that case.’’

He told the court that “my wife starves me of sex whenever I demanded for it.

“I have to beg my wife for sex as if she is still my girlfriend. She plays all sorts of unimaginable pranks to escape having sex with me.

“She only comes to me for sex when she feels like and not the other way round.

“When I complaint to her sister, she told her that he have a disease that’s why she stopped having sex with me.

“I’m feed up, I can’t continue this way,’’ he said.

The respondent denied allegations of infidelity, but admitted that she usually starve her husband of sex.

“He married me a virgin, how can I be so bold and bring my supposed boyfriend to my husband’s house, the supposed boyfriend is my distance relative.

“I called my distant cousin, and told him I was hungry and that my children don’t have food to eat when they return from school.

“I specifically told him to get food for me and my children from the eatery.

“My husband’s ways are questionable, he acts and talks desperately about making money at all cost.

“He keeps comparing me to his friend’s wife.

“My husband told me that his friend’s wife is an ogbanje (witch) and she uses that to bring goodluck to her husband, that I should be doing same for him, which I refused.

“He beats me up, but in spite of this I still love my husband,’’ Ganiyat said.

The court President, Adegboyega Omilola, ordered the couple to attend an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) on March 17.

He adjourned the case till March 29 for hearing.

Amosu’s Wife Returns Stolen N381m To FG

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has recovered N381m from Mrs. Omolara Amosu, the wife of the immediate past Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu.

Sources within the EFCC said on Saturday that the money was recovered in three tranches: N180m, N101m and N100m.

Scammer Arrested For Blackmailing Late M.K.O Abiola’s Wife

Caleb Nzube, a 26 year old man who attempted to blackmail the wife of late Chief MKO Abiola of $5,000, was last week arrested in Anambra State.
According to reports, Nzube allegedly hacked the Twitter handle of Mrs Tinu Abiola, downloaded her picture and designed a web page showing her carrying a human skull.

He then threatened to expose the web page to the world if the she did not pay $5,000.
Mrs Abiola in turn, refused to be blackmailed so she contacted Inspector General, Solomon Arase, who directed a combined team of the Inspector General Monitoring Team and the Intelligence
Response Team to track down the suspect.

He was arrested when the operatives stormed his hideout in Obosi.

It was gathered that Mrs Abiola was not the suspect’s only victim, it was leanred that he was harassing 2 other people.
According to Vanguard, Caleb Elom Nzube admitted that he is an internet fraudster who specialised in online dating before diverting into blackmail.
He said:

“I started following Mrs Timu Alade Abiola on Twitter and I got her pictures. I felt she was a good catch and I decided to blackmail her. I used Photoshop to make it look like she was carrying a human skull. I designed a web page with a little gossip story on it that she was caught for ritual.

“I sent her the link and when she saw it I demanded she pays me $5000 or I will show it to the whole world. One of her friends came in and begged that I shouldn’t do it and that they were ready to pay me $ 2000. I rejected the money, insisting that I must collect the amount I demanded”.

“Later they discovered I was Igbo and they gave my number to an Igbo girl who started talking to me and I accepted their offer, what got me angry was that while we were still talking, they sent a fishing link that destroyed my website which I have been maintaining for more than four years. That website had paid me little money I have used in sustaining myself”.

“I told the Igbo girl about it and that if I don’t get the money before the end of the week I will show the web page to the whole world. She asked for my account, I gave it to her but before I knew what was happening, the police came and arrested me”.

“I don’t understand why she has to bring in the police; I told the girl that what I needed was for her to tell her madam to just pay me for my website they destroyed. In fact I regret all this, if I had known it will be this messy I would have not ventured into this. What I do is only dating. I just wanted to try my luck on this one.”

Man Secretly Divorced His Wife, Then Stayed With Her For 20 Years

Cristina Carta Villa, 59, had no idea she had been divorced for two decades until she looked at a tax bill. According to the New York Post, she recently discovered that her husband had filed for divorce in the Dominican Republic months after their wedding, then stayed with her for 20 years.

The reason is allegedly financial. Cristina is suing Gabriel Villa, 90, to nullify the so-called divorce she says was to protect his money and assets from her. According to the lawsuit, Gabriel secretly hired lawyers to represent each spouse in a court in the Dominican Republic, even though neither of them lived there. She says she has no recollection of ever giving consent to this process, and that it’s against that country’s law since neither spouse showed up and the decision wasn’t published in a newspaper.

The couple was together for 20 years after their “divorce,” had a son, and traveled the world. Gabriel made Cristina his health-care proxy and power of attorney. But that tax bill didn’t list her name as a spouse, and a lawyer she hired discovered that they weren’t actually married anymore. Cristina hopes the lawsuit can prevent Gabriel from selling their home to his daughter.

Zakzaky, Wife Rescued Not Arrested- Army

The Nigerian Army has debunked rumours that the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, was arrested by soldiers at his residence and his wife killed.

The assertion was made by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Mechanised Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, in company of the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police and other senior Army officers on Monday.

General Oyebade disclosed that the Islamic cleric and his wife were rescued alive during the bloody clash between the sect members and soldiers, adding that they were in the Army protective custody.

He narrated how members of the movement attacked the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, who was on his way to pay a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau.

According to him, the Shiite members blocked the Army Chief’s convoy along Sokoto Road in Zaria, and attacked his vehicle with dangerous weapons.

The General stressed that all entreaties by some senior officers for the sect members to leave the road were resisted, a situation which he said prompted the soldiers in the convoy to apply minimum force against them.

Zakzaky’s Son, Wife, Other Shiite Leaders Killed

No fewer than 20 members of the Shi’ite sect were killed, yesterday, as the military cracked down on the sect for blocking the highways during their public procession in Zaria, Kaduna State. The sect, however, claimed that hundreds of its members were killed by soldiers who stormed three of its locations with heavy military weapons. It was gathered that the  troops engaged members of the sect throughout the night as heavy shootings and sounds of explosions were heard in Gyallesu and Sokoto Road, where Hussainiyya, the spiritual centre of the sect,  is located.

The Nigerian Army and members of the sect have accused each other of instigating attacks that led to the death of members of the movement on Saturday.

While the Army accused the Shiite followers of attempting to assassinate Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, the Islamic movement said soldiers simply decided to attack “defenceless people”.

The army on its part vowed to put an end to the threats, delays and disruption caused by the group.

Meanwhile, the where about of the leader of the sect,  Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky was unknown as the sect claimed that its members, who were killed, included  the leader of the Kano Centre, Sheikh Muhammad Turi, the son of sect leader, Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife.

In its account of the violent confrontation between it and the military, the sect, in a statement by its spokesman,  Ibrahim Musa said: “Following alleged blockade of the route of the Chief of Army Staff by the members of the Movement, the Nigerian Army brutally descended on armless members of the Movement with heavy military weapons killing indiscriminately.

10 Things Guys Honestly Want In A Wife (MUST READ)

1. Someone he can trust — not just with going out dancing with the girls, but with all his secrets and weird, dumb fears. Trust is the foundation upon which all relationships are built, and mutual respect is the mortgage with which you pay for that relationship, or something. My point is: Trust is huge for anybody anywhere in any kind of relationship, and it’s no different for guys looking for life partners.

?2. Someone who supports him even if he suddenly wants to quit his job to pursue his dream of becoming a famous screenwriter/inventor. Sure, that might sound easy now, but what happens when he loses his job, or decides he really needs to take a huge chunk of savings and start his own company, or pursue his dream job at 40? It takes a lot of patience, love, and understanding to support your partner when times are rough and there’s no sign of when it’ll get better. And that’s a two-way street, because guys also want…

3. Someone who has drive and ambition, and doesn’t just sit around posting motivational quotes on Facebook.? Personal happiness is key to a healthy relationship. You should have goals as a couple, and also individual goals, and the way you make it work is figuring out how to juggle all of that at once.

4. Someone who wants to spend time with him, but also goes out a few times a month on their own. I don’t think anyone has ever described their perfect mate as “someone who would, if it were possible, literally graft their skin to my skin so we could never be apart.” Someone who has their own life and hobbies and passions is always a good thing.

5. Someone he can have really (really, Really, REALLY) great sex with. Sex isn’t the most important thing in the world, but it’s up there. To be clear, that doesn’t mean every guy is out their looking for their own personal sex goddess, just someone they’re compatible with; whether that’s some vanilla sex once a week or someone they can get kinky with thrice a day.

6. Someone who accepts that maybe he’s not the best communicator and understands that he’s working on it. Yeah, people need to get better, but human beings are dumb, weird, stubborn idiots, and it’s important we recognize and accept that in each other. Be forgiving of the little things.

7. Someone who shares his values and ideals, and knows that no matter how much they argue, it will never be about anything serious. It’s important when you get married, but it’s even more important when you have kids. Otherwise, they will sense the weak links and destroy you.

8. Someone who keeps surprising him because they’re always changing (but not into a werewolf or something, just growing as a person and taking on new challenges). You know those people who seem really interesting at first, and then you realize they have the same three stories that they tell over and over, and that’s really all they got? Yeah, the opposite of that. But still, not a werewolf.

9. Someone who speaks their mind. Communication is paramount, so being able to voice what you want, what’s going well, and what isn’t is incredibly important to a healthy relationship. I guess, alternatively, you could also not care about anything and not contribute to your relationship. That could work too, maybe.

10. Someone who wants to learn about him and grow with him. You know, someone with whom he can live a long and rewarding life.

Though Separated, Chris Rocks’ Wife Wants Chris To Keep Supporting Adopted Child

Chris Rock’s estranged wife is calling him out in legal docs, demanding he continue supporting the 7-year-old South African girl they raised — even if she’s not legally their child.

In Malaak’s divorce docs, which TMZ obtained, she listed the 2 daughters she and Chris had together, Zahra and Lola, but also lumps in Ntombi as a dependent. Malaak says she’s been raised “as a member of the family and has been solely supported by [Chris and Malaak].”

What’s interesting is when Chris filed his divorce petition, he only mentioned Zahra and Lola … implying he has zero financial responsibility for Ntombi. But Malaak’s point is clear — Chris has always supported Ntombi as his daughter, so he needs to continue doing so.

Ntombi still lives in the U.S. under a visitor visa, but was never legally adopted by Chris or Malaak.

An eyewitness, Lawrence Odengo said Mr. Geoffrey complained it was not the first time his wife had taken money to ‘Jesus Elevation Tabernacle’ located in the Kisumu CBD, Kenya.

It took male ushers more than 10 minutes to eject Mr. Geoffrey from the midday service moments before the APs Quick Response Team arrived. He reported the matter at Kisumu Central police station.

Members of the public, who had glimpse of the drama at the place of worship they termed a “Pastor Kanyari church”, demanded its closure.

Singapore Megachurch Leader Sentenced To Jail For Pumping Church Money Into Wife’s Pop Singing Career

The co-founder of a Singapore church and five other leaders were sentenced to jail terms of up to eight years on Friday, for fraudulently diverting millions of dollars to support his wife’s pop singing career.

The mix of faith and fraud has fascinated tightly-regulated Singapore, where such cases are rare in an affluent city-state with little tolerance for corruption.

Senior pastor Kong Hee heads City Harvest Church, one of a growing number of Singapore’s megachurches preaching a “prosperity gospel” that blends spiritual and material aspirations.

Six church officials were convicted last month of diverting nearly S$51 million ($36 million) in funds to advance the career of Kong’s wife, Ho Yeow Sun.

They were sentenced on Friday to jail terms of between 21 months and eight years, depending on how involved they were in the fraud. The jail terms were delayed to January next year, giving the defendants time to appeal.
Kong was arrested in 2012 and charged with criminal breach of trust and falsifying accounts. His wife, the co-founder and executive director of the church, was not charged in the case.

Jay Z Introduces His Wife To Holly Holm & She Asked Her What Her Name Was

In an interview, Holm talks about her encounter with Jay-Z and Beyonce. Apparently, a courteous habit of hers kicked in and made things a little awkward between her and Beyonce:

“I meet Jay-Z and he says “This is my wife,” and I’m like, “Oh, hi, what’s your name?” ‘Cos that’s what I do when I meet someone’s wife. And as I’m shaking her hand, I’m thinking, “Why did I just say that? Why did I just say that? It’s Beyonce. Then Jay-Z’s asking me about the fight, and I can’t even focus on what he’s saying because I just put my foot in my mouth. And I literally have to interrupt him, I’m like, “I’m really sorry.” And I go back to Beyonce, and I’m like, “Beyonce, like, I can’t believe I just did that.” Yeah, she goes, “Oh, no it’s fine.” I’m like, “No, like, I really, really — it’s like such an honor to meet you.”

Scandal-scarred Bill Cosby and his wife Camille made a rare trip outside the gates of their well-protected lair at the weekend to visit New York. Cosby, 78, looked frail as he left his townhouse on New York’s Upper East Side on Sunday afternoon, leaning on his wife for support.

He wore a white hooded sweatshirt embellished with the words ‘Hello Friend,’ the catchphrase of his son Ennis, who was murdered in 1997.

It was the first time the couple have been pictured together since November 6 last year, when they gave an interview to NPR as the claims against him were beginning to grow. Cosby has not been pictured since May.

The comic, facing claims that he drugged and raped dozens of women over decades, left his long-time home in Massachusetts to take a private plane trip to the Big Apple where all four of his daughters live. More photos below.
