I Love WikiLeaks, Trump Says Over Clinton’s Emails Leak

US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump says he “loves” whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks for its latest revelations about Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

The New York businessman made the comments during a campaign event on Monday, days after a series of leaked emails revealed Clinton’s disconnection from the struggles of the middle class and her behind-the-scenes advocacy for the further prosperity of Wall Street and big corporations – contrary to her campaign rhetoric.

“I love WikiLeaks,” Trump told thousands of his supporters in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. “It’s amazing how nothing is secret today when you talk about the Internet.”

“In a speech behind closed doors, ‘Crooked Hillary’ said, ‘Terrorism is not a big threat to our nation,’” the candidate continued. “Terrorism is a big, big threat. We are riding into something very dangerous.”

“In another closed-door speech, she wanted to have open borders and open trade with everybody. There go the rest of your jobs,” he added.

The comments prompted prolonged “Lock her up!” chants from the crowd.

Spain Nominates #PanamaPapers Leak Minister For World Bank Job

The Spanish government brushed aside global concerns to name its former Industry Minister, Jose Manuel Soria, as the country’s proposed representative at the World Bank.

Mr. Soria’s nomination is coming despite being linked with an offshore company listed in the Panama papers leaks earlier this year.

Although he denied any wrongdoing, Mr. Soria was compelled to resign his appointment last April, apparently to forestall any negative backlash on Spain’s caretaker government, the conservative Popular Party (PP).

But, few months after, the Spanish government has sent his name as its nominee to be voted one of the 25 executive directors by the189 governors at the Washington-based Bretton Woods institution, the Economy Ministry said on Wednesday.

Mr. Soria was named in the Panama Papers leaks scandal with details about his relationship with U.K. Lines, an offshore firm owned by the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca.

Putin Denies Democrat email Hack But Praises Leak

Russia’s president on Friday denied Moscow was behind an email hack that embarrassed White House hopeful Hillary Clinton but said it was important the information got into the public domain.

“I don’t know anything about it, and on a state level Russia has never done this,” Vladimir Putin told Bloomberg News in an interview aired Friday.

Hacked emails leaked by WikiLeaks in July revealed that party leaders had sought to undermine the primary campaign of Clinton’s rival Bernie Sanders and US officials said Russia was behind the release.

Putin slammed the accusations as attempts to “distract the public’s attention from the essence of the problem by raising some minor issues connected with the search for who did it.”

“The important thing is the content that was given to the public,” he said.

Clinton’s rival Donald Trump has made no secret of his admiration for Putin, leading some to conjecture the Kremlin strongman was working to put the real estate billionaire in the White House.

NNPC Shuts Pipeline’s Valve Over Leak

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has shut a valve in a pipeline in the Niger Delta after a gas leak following an explosion, a community leader told Reuters yesterday.

Militant group, Niger Delta Avengers has claimed it blew up the pipeline.

“At around 4 a.m. we heard the loud noise of an explosion, then a sound like rain so we came out and saw gas gushing out from the NNPC pipeline, but there is no fire there now,” said Nsikak Joshua, a community leader in Ikot-Osute, the site of the blast.

Meanwhile, oil-rich Okpai in Ndokwa east local government area of Delta State, the host community of Agip Independent Power Plant, has decried the alleged abandonment of the shore protection project by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The chairman of Okpai Community Development Committee (CDC), Chief John Emordi, made the claim when he visited Mr Nnamdi Ezechi, the commissioner representing Ndokwa ethnic nationality on the board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).

Emordi lamented that that there was nothing to show for the over 50 years of oil and gas exploitation in the community and the peace the exploration companies enjoyed  while operating in the area.

Jackie Chan, Amitabh Bachchan Named In Panama Papers Leak

Bollywood’s Amitabh Bachchan and martial arts movie star Jackie Chan are among celebrities who feature Monday in a massive leak of documents, some of which reveal hidden offshore assets.

Bollywood legend Bachchan, simply known as the “Big B” in India, was appointed a director of at least four shipping companies registered in offshore tax havens and set up 23 years ago.

The authorised capital of these companies ranged from just $5,000 to $50,000 but they traded in ships worth millions of dollars, according to the Indian Express newspaper.

The Express is among more than 100 media groups which have investigated a massive leak of 11.5 million documents from Mossack Fonseca, a Panama-based law firm with offices in 35 countries.

Bachchan, who has long since resigned from the companies and has not commented on the documents, is not the only member of his famous family named in the leaks.

His daughter-in-law, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, was also director and shareholder of an offshore company, along with members of her family, before it was thought to have been wound up in 2008, according to the newspaper.

The media adviser of the former Miss World winner has rejected the documents as “totally untrue and false”.

As with many of Fonseca’s clients, there is no evidence that the Bollywood A-listers used their companies for improper purposes and having an offshore entity is not illegal.

But the documents, naming more than 500 Indians including real estate tycoons in Fonseca’s list of offshore companies, foundations and trusts, come at a sensitive time in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has vowed to crack down on the “menace” of so-called black money — vast sums stashed abroad to keep them secret from Indian tax authorities.

Hong Kong film star Jackie Chan has also been revealed to have at least six companies represented by Fonseca’s firm, though he too may have used the companies legitimately for business purposes rather than for tax avoidance.

The stash of records was obtained from an anonymous source by German daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung and shared with media worldwide. The documents, from around 214,000 offshore entities, cover almost 40 years.
