NEMA: About 83 Nigerians have been deported from the United Kingdom.

Recently, it was gathered from Ibrahim Farinloye, the spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency, South-West Zone, that no fewer than 83 Nigerians are expected to arrive in the country today, Wednesday, following their deportation from the United Kingdom.

 

According to Ibrahim, the deportees were residents whose documents had expired and prisoners whose terms of imprisonment were nearing completion and were expected to be in the country at 5am.

 

He said, “We were informed that 83 Nigerians would be deported from the United Kingdom on Wednesday morning. Some of the people affected are those who haven’t completed their prison sentences. They would be taken to Nigerian prisons to complete their terms. Although we cannot tell the various offences, we believe others could be drug-related and immigration problems.”

 

“We expect that when they arrive in the country, we would be able to know the real reason for their deportation. The aircraft is expected to arrive in the country at 5am at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.”

Deported Nigerian Man Re-arrested in US for Scamming Woman of Over $9,000

A 47-year-old Nigerian man, Chigozie Valentine Agu, has been arrested in Vermillion Parish, Louisiana, US, on charges of ‘Felony Theft’ in excess of $5,000, Bank Fraud, Money Laundering, and Racketeering.
Agu was nabbed after he scammed an elderly woman to the tune of nearly $9,000.

The suspect was deported to Louisiana and booked into the Vermillion Parish Correctional Center and was arrested at the weekend by the Metro Washington Airport Authority at Dulles Airport, following an investigation by General Landry’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) as he re-entered the United States.

Attorney General Landry of the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, told Daily Mail that, “In May 2016, Agu contacted an elderly Vermillion Parish resident, telling her he was a Department of Homeland Security official and found a piece of luggage containing money he would return to her for a fee.

“The LBI found proof that Agu received the money and that he attempted to conceal his crime through bank wire transfers and a third party.

“Overall, Agu scammed the elderly woman out of $8,890.

“Our office is on the front lines investigating, arresting, and educating to help stop the awful occurrence of seniors being targeted and preyed upon by scammers.

“We want to help Louisiana’s people avoid falling victim to mortgage, contractor, charity and other types of frauds commonly perpetrated on senior citizens.”

“It is an absolutely despicable crime to take advantage of our elderly family, friends, and neighbors.

“No matter the great lengths these shameless criminals take, my office will do all we can to get justice for their victims,” General Landry was quoted as saying.

201 Illegal Immigrants Deported From Niger

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) said on Sunday in Minna, that it repatriated 201 illegal immigrants in Niger from February to March. Ezekiel Kaura, the Comptroller of Immigration in the state, stated this when he addressed newsmen. According to him, the repatriation will assist the government to flush out potential trouble makers in the state. “We are doing some mop up of illegal immigrants in the state because of the elections that is about to take place.

“There is need to get rid of these illegal ones in our midst so that they do not become ready for some persons who may use them to cause havoc during and after the elections.

He said the command deported 107 illegal immigrants in February, adding that another batch of 65 non-Nigerians were apprehended in March, bringing the number to 172. “We are expecting another 29 illegal immigrants from Kotangora area of the state. So, at the end of the day, we have 201.”

Kaura said that NIS would continue to get rid of illegal immigrants in the country in line with the policy of the Federal Government.
