Karl-Heinz Rummenigge Can’t Believe Manchester United Treatment of Bastian Schweinsteiger

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge can’t believe Manchester United have frozen Bastian Schweinsteiger out in a bid to get him to leave the club.

The Bayern Munich president knows the German midfielder well from his 17-year stay at the Bundesliga champions.

Schweinsteiger only left Bayern last year in a £6.5million move, signing a three-year deal as Louis van Gaal attempted to strengthen his United squad.

He did struggle to stay consistently fit in his first season at Old Trafford and could do nothing to stop van Gaal leaving the club after a disappointing campaign in charge.

But Schweinsteiger is a Champions League and World Cup winner and, despite being 32, is still a quality player when healthy.

Jose Mourinho obviously disagrees, exiling Schweini from the first team, forcing him to train with the youth team, according to reports.

He’s been linked with a return to Bayern – something new Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti has denied.

And despite ignoring talk of going after Schweinsteiger, Rummenigge has criticised United for their treatment of the German legend.

Speaking in an interview with sueddeutsche.de, Rummenigge said: “I could hardly believe when I read it. This never happened before at Bayern Munich and never will happen.”

“In the future players will think twice before joining such clubs, who treat them more radically when they want to get rid of a player than a club like Borussia Dortmund or Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga would do.

“It seems like this is the price players have to pay if they join these clubs.”

That’s a pretty robust attack from Rummenigge on Mourinho and United when neither Schweinsteiger or the club have confirmed that he’s been frozen out.

“Manchester United Must Start Making Life Easier For Themselves”- Bastian Schweinsteiger

The German says he experienced 10-man defences in the Bundesliga

Manchester United are making strides towards breaking down defensive opponents says Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The Reds finally shattered West Brom’s 10-man blockade at Old Trafford on Saturday with second half goals from Jesse Lingard and a late Juan Mata penalty.

But the German midfielder concedes the Reds still have to get better and understands the fans frustration with United’s possession style and lack of excitement.

“You recognise what the supporters are saying but football is not only attack,” says the 31-year-old.

“There are teams with different game styles and they also win titles. But especially in home matches we have to press and go forward.

“We did well offensively against West Brom. When you are playing a team who defend with ten men it is not easy to find the gaps. There is still room for improvement but we did improve on breaking a team down.

“Teams defending is not exclusive to England. In Munich it was exactly the same. It was difficult then with opponents defending heavily. I saw recently Bayern drew 0-0 at Frankfurt because Frankfurt were defending.

“It happens but you have to find solutions and this is where we can still improve to make it easier for ourselves.”

Bastian Schweinsteiger ‘Suing’ Chinese Toy Company Over ‘Nazi’ Doll

The Red Devils midfielder is taking legal action against a Chinese toymaker which has produced a familiar-looking doll of a German WW2 soldier named Bastian

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Bastian Schweinsteiger, what with being ‘treated like a dog’ by Santi Cazorla at the Emirates before being hooked at half-time as Manchester United toiled at CSKA Moscow on Wednesday.

And things have taken a turn for the bizarre for the German World Cup hero after he became embroiled in a row with a toymaker over a ‘Nazi’ doll that’s his spitting image!

According to reports by German daily Bild, Schweinsteiger is suing the Chinese company over the ‘Bastian range’ of dolls, that not only share a name with the 31-year-old but also bear an uncanny resemblance to him.

Bild is incensed and its frontpage on Tuesday read: “Our football hero Bastian Schweinsteiger as a Nazi soldier!”

The Chinese maker of ‘Bastian’ described his similarities to the fomer Bayern Munich man as “purely coincidental.” It added: “The figure is a member of a Wehrmacht supply unit, a so-called ‘kitchen boy’.”

‘Bastian’ – the doll, not the player – has a swastika-bearing eagle on his uniform and one of the dolls wears the medal ribbon given to soldiers who took part in the doomed Russian winter offensive in 1941.

A Dutch firm, DiD, was contracted to distribute the dolls in Europe for £65 a pop but their plans may be scuppered by Schweinsteiger’s lawyers.

DiD representative Patrick Chan told Bild: “We offer no figures based on the football. The resemblance is purely coincidental. The figure is based on a typical German. We believe most Germans look like this. Bastian is a common name in Germany.”
