Abandoned Nine Month Old Baby Found Crawling On Lagos Road

Residents of Shodipo Crescent in the Ikeja Government Reserved Area of Lagos State were shocked on Wednesday to find an abandoned baby boy crawling on the road.

It was learnt that the nine-month-old baby, whose name had yet to be ascertained, was seen crawling by residents, who quickly alerted some policemen on patrol in the area.

It was gathered that the child was picked up by the policemen and brought to the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja.

The baby was thereafter taken for a checkup.

It was gathered that the nine-month-old was believed to have crawled out of his parents’ apartment, although no resident in the area had showed up for the baby boy.

A police source said that the child would remain in the police custody until his family showed up with concrete proofs of relationship.

She said, “We found the boy on Shodipo Crescent in the Ikeja GRA. He is about nine months old. He was found crawling on the road. Some residents thereafter alerted some policemen on patrol.

“The police team rescued the baby. So far, nobody has come up to claim the baby. He must have left the custody of his parents or guardian and that is how some children fall into the hands of kidnappers and ritual killers. He is still with us at the command headquarters.”

Couple Allegedly Abandoned Their Toddler To Play Pokémon Go

According to a statement released by the Pinal Country Sheriff’s Office, an Arizona couple was arrested on July 28 after abandoning their 2-year-old son to go play Pokémon Go.

The app, which is a virtual-reality type game for hunting Pokémon, requires users to travel around the area in order to play. Brent and Brianne Daley, who claimed they went out to get gas, were absent for up to 90 minutes, stopping at parks and shopping malls while their son was sleeping. However, the police were called when neighbors spotted the toddler outside the house, screaming, crying, and wearing nothing but a T-shirt and dirty diaper.

Sheriff Paul Babeu is all too familiar with the consequences of civilians getting too wrapped up in the game, but this was the worst offense yet.

“Our agency and many other law enforcement agencies have been warning people about personal safety while playing this interactive Smartphone game, but we never would have imagined that parents would abandoned a child to play Pokémon Go,” he said in a statement. “This goes beyond comprehension.”

Brent and Brianne Daley were arrested for child neglect and endangerment. The state Department of Child Services took custody of their son.

Abandoned Cat Refuses To Leave Spot Where It Was Dumped By Owners A Year Ago

A cat has reportedly refused to leave the spot it was dumped by it’s owners for a year now.
The cat is believed to have been left there when its owners moved out of their nearby apartment, leaving it behind. It was pictured by Ostap Zadunayskiy who put the picture on Russia’s version of Facebook, VKontakte.

He asked people what the cat’s story was, and he was surprised when locals said the cat hasn’t left that particular spot for a year since it was dumped by it’s owners. He was told that the cat was seen running after the owners as they drove off.

When they got too far, the cat sat in the spot where it’s been returning to every day. Apparently
waiting for it’s owners to return But locals have been feeding the cat ever since.

Mr Zadunayskiy said:

“This is a great example of human meanness and true animal loyalty. Despite going viral however, many people were critical, saying they did not believe the story and that the cat probably just stayed there as it was getting fed every day.”

How Robbers Abandoned N27m, 240 Bullets During FESTAC Robbery- Police

The police in Lagos State, on Tuesday, foiled a robbery attempt on two new generation banks in the FESTAC area of the state.

The unsuccessful robbery, which lasted for several hours, was abandoned due to the confrontation the Nigerian Police and other security agencies had with the robbers.

The Area Commander, Area E, FESTAC division, Mr Frank Mba, who briefed newsmen on the incident, said that the command received information about the robbery at about 8.25 a.m.

“Today, October 13 2015, at about 8.25 a.m., the command received information on sporadic shooting going on at 4th avenue, FESTAC Town.

“A joint team of policemen from the Area ‘E’ Command and FESTAC Division promptly responded to the incident.

“On arrival at the scene, the policemen engaged a gang of armed robbers numbering over 40 all dressed in military camouflage and armed to the teeth.

“The police engaged them in a fierce gun battle that lasted several minutes notwithstanding the clear numerical disadvantage of the police at the beginning of this operation.

“The hot exchange of fire between the policemen and the robbers who incidentally had shared themselves into two groups by simultaneously robbing two banks forced the robbers to abruptly end their operation.

“They consequently abandoned the operation and they were also forced to abandon the sum of N27 million but as they were fleeing, they were equally forced to abandon a total of 240 live ammunition.

“The money was later recovered by the police and escorted to another branch of one of the banks located somewhere along 2nd Avenue where the money was deposited.

“The scene of crime was later cordoned off while support teams from the command headquarters, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja and also the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Panti, as well as men of the Nigerian Army from Ojo Cantonment joined us,” he said.

Governor of Plateau State, Mr.  Simon Lalong, has solicited the understanding of residents of Jos and Bukuru  metropolis as the government grapples with the problem of clearing the heaps of refuse in most part of the major towns.

The governor says contractors will soon be mobilised to continue work on road projects, which have been abandoned as citizens have been finding it difficult to move around freely.

A statement by the Director, Press and Public Affairs,  Mr. Emmanuel Nanle,  on Monday said the government was disturbed by the rising heaps of refuse, which had been made worse  by the ongoing strike by civil servants in the state.

The governor said he was particularly worried because of the health implications of the stench coming from the dumps,  especially as the raining season has set in.

The statement stated, “Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, is calling on all the citizens of Plateau State and particularly residents of Jos – Bukuru metropolis to please bear with government as efforts are intensified to address the difficulties encountered driving round the city with the rains now in season.

“The governor understands the challenges faced by motorists with the state of major uncompleted roads within Jos-Bukuru Metropolis.

“The governor is further assuring all citizens that the situation would be remedied immediately to ameliorate the difficulties faced.”

Lalong said the Transition Committee’s consultation with contractors would be intensified to ensure that a common understanding was reached to facilitate the continuation of the road projects.
