Domestic Servant, 24, Jailed 8 Months For Stealing Gold Worth N250, 000

An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday sentenced a domestic servant, Sarah Akapa, to eight months imprisonment for stealing her employers gold neck chain and two earrings worth N250, 000.

Akapa of Ketu, a suburb of Lagos State, pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing.
Delivering her judgment, the Magistrate, Mrs O. S. Amzat, advised the convict to turn a new leaf while in prison after sentencing her to eight months imprisonment with no option of fine.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Ihiehie Lucky, told the court that the offence was committed on Oct. 31 at the complainant’s house.
Ihiehie said the complainant reported the incident at Ketu Police Station in the early hours of Nov. 6.

“The complainant, a trader, said that on Oct. 31 her house help stole her gold neck chain valued at N100, 000 and two gold earrings valued at N150, 000.

“When she was questioned, she confessed that she had given the items to her ex- boyfriend who came down from Ajah to collect them from her.
The offence committed contravened section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The health advocate, who’s currently heavily pregnant with her first child, has been documenting her pregnancy journey, posting snaps of her changing body shape – and received mixed reviews for her efforts.

Duncan, who heads up Aussie-based fitness business HIIT and was a finalist in the 2009 edition of Miss Universe Australia, has been both praised for promoting exercise during pregnancy and simultaneously raised concern among some of her fans who labelled the star as “unhealthy”.

NASA Reveals Next Step To 8 Months Journey To Mars

Man is one step closer to setting foot on the Red Planet, according to the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The space agency, which recently announced the historic discovery of flowing water on Mars, has just announced an updated plan for ‘The Journey to Mars.’

“NASA is closer to sending American astronauts to Mars than at any point in our history,” NASA Administrator, Charles Bolden, said in a recent statement.

“Today, we are publishing additional details about our journey to Mars plan and how we are aligning all of our work in support of this goal. In the coming weeks, I look forward to continuing to discuss the details of our plan with members of Congress as well as our commercial and our international and partners.

“The journey to Mars crosses three thresholds, each with increasing challenges as humans move farther from Earth,” the agency reported. “NASA is managing these challenges by developing and demonstrating capabilities in incremental steps.”

The first of these steps is pretty straight-forward. “Earth-reliant” activities, as NASA calls them, will be ongoing up until the day the Space Launch System (SLS) – NASA’s latest flagship rocket and the “most powerful rocket ever built” – sends the Orion spacecraft on its way to Mars.
