Angelina Jolie Breaks Silence On Her Divorce With Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie has broken her silence on her split with Brad Pitt, following his first public appearance since the divorce proceedings began.

This week, Pitt was cleared of child abuse allegations, following the investigation by the Los Angeles Country Department of Children and Family Services into an incident involving his eldest son Maddox on a private plane on 14 September.

Reacting to the news, a spokesperson on behalf of Jolie released a statement:

“The job of the DCFS is to make sure the children are in a safe and secure situation. As we said earlier this week, childcare professionals encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides that was in the best interest of the children. Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal.”

When news of the breakdown of the marriage broke in September, Jolie’s attorney Robert Offer released a statement that read: “Angelina has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.” This is the first time that Jolie has spoken out since.

Terminal Operators Must Comply With Concession Agreement- NPA MD

The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms Hadiza Usman, on Thursday, said that all terminal operators must comply with the terms of port concession agreements and must pay directly to NPA.

Usman gave the directive while fielding questions from newsmen in Port Harcourt, Rivers.

She said that all revenue must go into the Treasury Single Account (TSA), adding that the NPA would vigorously pursue the collection of all outstanding payments by the terminal operators and other operators in the industry.

“All payment will be made directly to NPA and NPA will reconcile the payments,’’ she added.

She said that NPA would review all concession agreements.

“We need to appreciate where we find ourselves today and take immediate decisions.”

On midstream discharge, she said that the management “is looking at safe anchorage’’.

She said that the management had seen the state of infrastructure in Rivers and Onne Ports, saying that the NPA would invest money into infrastructure only owned by it.

“We lease out lands to the developers in the Eastern ports but we are not able to ensure that the developers take possession of the lands,’’she said.

She, however, maintained that new security measures were being discussed as part of the priority areas of the management, adding that new access cards to the ports would be issued.

Usman noted that the current port access card was not sufficient to guarantee effective security in the ports.

According to her, there should be one standard certification of access to the ports and this can be conducted through biometric data.

She said that the priority of the management was good governance and transparency in the operations of the organisation.

“Pricing should be transparent for everybody to see.

“We are also looking at competition of operations and financing.”

The Managing Director, however, assured that the NPA would not continue charging people for services it did not provide.

Trump Has ‘Weird Fascination’ With Dictators- Clinton

US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has accused his Republican rival Donald Trump of having a “weird fascination with dictators.”

Speaking at a rally in Akron, Ohio, on Monday night, Clinton bashed Trump over his admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“He gets confused between leadership and dictatorship. He has a hard time remembering who our friends are and who are adversaries are. He has a weird fascination with dictators like Vladimir Putin,” she told her supporters.

Clinton said Trump “basically signs up for Putin’s wish list,” echoing the Democratic claim that, if elected, the New York businessman will bow to Moscow’s will.

“We have a lot of people living in this part of Ohio who, either themselves, their parents, or grandparents, came from countries that were under the yoke of oppression. And we are never going to let that happen again,” the former secretary of state said, while taking an indirect swipe at Russia.

Trump has long been accused by his opponents of, as The New York Times puts it, having a “crush” on Putin, an idea that gained more traction after he praised the Russian leader on several occasions during the primary race.
