Flood Takes Over Road To Otuoke

A section of the Onuebum Road leading to Otuoke, former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s home town in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has been taken over by flood.

Motorists, especially private car owners, are now forced to travel through Elebele Road to access Otuoke community, host to a federal university.

Also, petty traders operating along the Otuoke-Onuebum Road have been sacked by the rising water level from the adjoining forest. The road is the closest route for residents of Azikoro, Agbura, Otuokpoti and several other communities in Yenagoa to access Otuoke.

Some community youths had done palliative work on the failed portion of the road before flood submerged it. The youths were sighted, yesterday, directing vehicles away from the deeper parts of the flooded area.

Osinbajo Takes Over As Acting President As Buhari Begins Short Vacation

President Mohammadu Buhari has begun a short vacation today. A statement by Special Adviser to Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, says that while Buhari is away, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will perform the functions of the President.

The statement added that in compliance with Section 145 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution, President Buhari has dispatched a formal notice of his vacation to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

AMCON Takes Over Aero Contractors

In furtherance of the statutory responsibility of acquiring Eligible Bank Assets and putting them to economic use in a profitable manner, the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) has dissolved the Board of Aero Contractors and appointed a Manager over the affairs of the airline.

AMCON announced today in a press statement. AMCON is both the majority shareholder and creditor of Aero.

It said an industry based management team will be put in place to provide the highest level of professional competence which would ensure a quick repositioning of the company.

“The management of AMCON decided to make changes in the Management of the airline to protect the brand heritage of the airline, a very well cherished value. AMCON also maintains that its intervention is in the public interest to sustain and improve the robust and premium quality service which Aero is known for in the country” the statement noted.

“AMCON would like to assure the regulatory authorities, the traveling public and key stakeholders that the airline will continue to operate on the solid foundation of safety and security with excellent customer service” it said.

It further noted that, AMCON has also engaged a reputable accounting firm to undertake a forensic audit of the airline’s accounts over the last 5 years.

Jonathan Takes Over PDP Structures To Reform Party

Following the resignations of the party’s National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu and Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Tony Anenih, President Goodluck Jonathan has taken over the party’s structure to spearhead its much touted reformation. Jonathan’s move is to checkmate the activities of governors elected under the party platform.

Although, Mu’azu cited health grounds as the reason for his resignation, credible sources within and outside the Presidential Villa disclosed that his resignation was orchestrated by President Jonathan. The President has also be fingered in the resignation of Anenih.

Jonathan was alleged to have asked the two leaders to resign so that he would reorganise the party after becoming BoT Chairman.
