Woman Kills Self After Court Clears Step-father Of Repeated Rape

A 22-year-old  woman killed herself after her step-father was cleared of repeatedly raping her, an inquest heard.

Juliet Crew left a note behind stating that she felt she had been let down by the legal system.

Her 60-year-old step-father, Nigel Parkin, who is a church organist was found not guilty in 2012 of sexually abusing her for seven years from the age of nine.

Juliet mother found her hung in the hall of her home in Taunton, Somerset, in August last year.

She had told the court Parkin sexually touched and raped her at least ten times.

Her step-father was cleared after he said Juliet and another alleged victim were both suffering from mental health problems.

According to Taunton Coroners Court, the result of the proceedings took a severe toll on the mental health of Juliet, she dropped to six and a half stone, self-harmed and even overdosed on medication.

The note she left behind said,”The judicial system in this country, especially for victims of sexual offences, is disgusting.

“There is no justice. It only confirmed that I cannot trust people. I do not want to live in a world where there is no justice.”

Parkin, who is employed by the Church of England, was found not guilty of ten serious offences against Juliet in a trial at Taunton Crown Court in 2012.

The Nation gathered that the party described the results so far announced as a predetermined fabrication, accusing the INEC and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of electoral fraud as well as militarisation.

Nigerian Army Dissociates Self From Planned Celebration Of Boko Haram ‘Success’

The Nigeria Army says it has nothing to do with a proposed solidarity rally being organised by some civil groups to celebrate the “successes” being achieved over Boko Haram in the ongoing counterinsurgency operations in North East Nigeria.

The Army said though the initiative could be borne out of sheer patriotism, the show of solidarity could be dangerous as it is capable of distracting the soldiers and the Army authority.

It thereby advised the group to be cautious with the plan.

The spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Sani Usman, said in a statement that the public should rather remain more vigilant at this crucial stage of the battle.

His statement reads:

“The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a number of groups and individuals celebrating the routing out and decimation of Boko Haram terrorists on our soil. So much as we thank them for that, it is imperative to state that we do not begrudge such persons (and) their desire to identify and associate themselves with this success.

“However, the Nigerian Army wishes to disassociate itself from such celebrations and solidarity rallies.

“We also would like to advice that they should tread with caution as this could be distractive to us. The public are please informed that the terrorists are surreptitiously fanning out of their last enclaves in Sambisa to cause havoc or seek refuge elsewhere.

“Therefore, there is need for all to be more vigilant and security conscious to enable us clear the remnants of these terrorists wherever they might flee.

“We would like to reassure the public that we will remain professional and focused in clearing the remnants of these criminals on the Nigerian soil.”

She was hardly a model Muslim before she became an ISIS suicide bomber — drinking booze, hanging out with drug dealers and posing for naked photos in a bubble bath.

Before-and-after photos of Paris terrorist Hasna Aitboulahcen, 26, show her radical transformation from a hard-partying clubgoer nicknamed “Cowgirl” into a violent Muslim extremist.

In one picture obtained by DailyMail.com, she is seen soaking nude in a tub, covered by only a necklace and bubbles.

Another shows her lounging in a tank top wearing heavy makeup while pouting at the camera.

Her brother, Youssouf Aitboulahcen, said his estranged sister preferred the Internet to Islam — and first put on a veil just a month ago.

“She was living in her own world. She was not interested in studying her religion. I never saw her open the Koran. She was permanently on her phone, looking at Facebook or WhatsApp,” Youssouf Aitboulahcen told DailyMail.com.

Neighbors told the Times of London that Aitboulahcen was considered a bad Muslim, and a female friend said she once caused a scene while wasted in a German nightclub.

“She got very drunk and sprayed tear gas around the whole place,” the pal said.

“Basically, she just got angry with a guy who was trying to chat her up and became furious.”

“I think she had a very disturbed childhood, and she had a lot of problems. She really did drink a lot,” the woman added.

Another friend, Amin Abou, 26, described her as a “party animal who loved clubbing.”

“She drank alcohol and smoked and went around with lots of different guys, She had a bad reputation. She had lot of boyfriends…” he said.

PMB Dissociates Self From Saraki’s Woes

President Muhammadu Buhari has dissociated himself from the current travails of Senate President Bukola Saraki in the hands of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over a 13-count criminal charge preferred against Saraki on account of alleged false declaration of assets, saying the courts have a duty to perform.

This came as Abuja, the nation’s capital city hosts a web of high-wire intrigues and three-fold legal fisticuffs over the issue today.

Also, members of Senate Unity Forum, SUF, an anti-Saraki group in the Senate were, yesterday, engaged in a marathon meeting. It was gathered that the senators who met in Abuja in an undisclosed venue, were said to have gathered to strategize ahead of the resumption of the Senate.

According to a source, the meeting was a follow up to the one held by senators loyal to Saraki, weekend.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu said: “There is no place in law that the Bureau and the tribunal should take instructions from any quarters.”

According to him, “as an independent institution equal to any superior court of record, the tribunal is set up by the constitution to determine the issue of default, false declaration or forgery in assets declaration.”

Shehu said that the matter was purely a judicial process and had nothing to do with the presidency. He advised the affected parties to also use the courts to acquit themselves of the allegations.

APC Accuses Fayose Of Awarding Self N720m Salary Arrears

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of awarding N720 million to himself as the arrears of his unfinished first term. The governor was impeached on October 16, 2006 by the then Ekiti State House of Assembly.

But the Supreme Court in a recent judgment said the impeachment was null and void because due process was not followed.

The state APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, in a statement on Thursday said it was “selfish and callous” for the governor to pay himself arrears for unfinished term when he had yet to pay workers and poor pensioners in the state.

 The party said it was equally “shameful and heartless” for the governor to refuse to pay statutory  pensions benefit to Ekiti elders which is not more than N5,000 for many of them, after serving the state meritoriously.

It added that the government had also cancelled the N5,000 social security scheme paid to 20,000 elderly Ekiti people by former Governor Kayode Fayemi’s administration.
