NNPC Redeploys Staff; Promotes 108, Demotes One

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has undertaken a massive reorganization, with the redeployment of key officials.

In the redeployment memo obtained from the NNPC, yesterday, while 108 staff were promoted from Manager and General Manager positions to General Manager and Group General Managers respectively, one was demoted from Executive Director to Group General Managers (GGM).

Why no reason for the redeployment was stated, sources in the NNPC said it was part of ongoing restructuring in the NNPC and as key measures to cut cost, boost profitability and help make the corporation commercially viable.

Specifically, Mr. Chidi Momah, who was formerly GGM, Company Secretary and Legal Adviser, was redeployed to become Secretary to the NNPC, while Hadiza Commasie was appointed Legal Adviser; A.A. Adamu, Sarah Ndukwe and O. Omigie were appointed General Managers in charge of Commercial Law, Litigation & Property Law and Corporate Law respectively.

Esther Ogbue retained her position as Managing Director, NNPC Retail; Felix Wono, Executive Director, Pipeline and Farouk Ahmed, Managing Director, Nigeria Products Marketing Company.

Ndu Ughamadu was redeployed from GGM, Government and Labour Relations to GGM Group Public Affairs Department; Adewale Ajayi Oladapo, formerly GM, Technical Services Limited, was reappointed GM, Capital Projects, while Animashaun Onipeko , formerly GM, Companyb Secretary/Legal, Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, was reappointed GM, Board Support.

Okonkwo Chukwuma, formerly GGM, Liabilities Management was reappointed Managing Director, NNPC Capital; Wunti Maijama’a was appointed GM/technical Assistant Downstream from a former position of GM, Efficiency Unit.

Meanwhile, the NNPC posted a trading deficit of N17.18 billion for the month of September 2016, dropping further from a deficit of N11.22 billion recorded in August.

Nigeria promotes 57 senior police officers

The Police Service Commission, PSC, has approved the promotion of 47 Assistant Commissioners of Police, ACP, to the next rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police, DCP.

This is contained in a statement issued by Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission in Abuja on Wednesday.

Mr. Ani said the commission also approved the promotion of 10 Deputy Superintendents of Police, DSP, to Superintendents of Police, SP.

The beneficiaries of the promotion to the rank of DCP include Lawrence Onwuka, Amos Omuiyadun, Mathew Akinyosola, Sodipo Rasaki, Mathew Onah and Damain Okoro.

Others are Michael Vigara, Anthony Okpara, Umege Umar, Ebenezer Ogunjobi, Titilayo Kayode, Ngozi Onadeko and Emienbo Assayomo among others.

Mr. Ani said the newly-promoted SPs are; Romanus Iwoha, Gold Akponfagha, Yahaya Adamu, Edward Oshadare, Haliru Madaki, Christiana Alabaraonye, Dominic Nwahiri, Julian Igbudu, Adenyi Abayomi and Anda Ali.

He said the chairman of the commission, Mike Okiro, urged them to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation.

Mr. Okiro said the commission would continue to ensure that promotion in the Nigeria Police Force was regular and based on seniority and merit amongst other established criteria.

He said the commission would also not hesitate to discipline any police officer who abused his office in the course of duty.

Mr. Ani said the commission’s approval had been communicated to the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

Army Promotes 18 Major-Generals, 117 Brig-Generals, Others

The Nigerian Army has announced the promotion of 17 Brigadier-Generals to the rank of Major-Generals. Also promoted were 117 Colonels to the rank of Brigadier-Generals and 95 Lieutenant-Colonels to the rank of Colonels.

Among the newly promoted Major-Generals are J.A. Orokpo, and I. Attahiru, who were one time directors, Army public relations.  Others are J.S. Malu, commander, Army Headquarters Garison, R.C. Duru, A.O. Shodunke, P.J.O. Bogie, A.M. Sabo, I.R. Nicholas, E.G.Ode, E.B.Oyefeso, O. Ejemai, E.O. Udoh,  Mohammed C.T. Olukoju, I.O. Rabiu, and A.M. Dikko.

Two other officers who are now deceased, namely J.T. Abubakar, and S.E.U. Ekanem, were promoted post humously.

The newly promoted Brigadier-Generals include the former director, Defense Information, M.M. Yerima, U.M. Miri, C.V. Ezeh, K.O. Aligbe, J.A.Ataguba, A.B. Ibrahim, B.A. Muhammed, J.G. Mohammed, E.C. Ekwesi, E.G. Onumajuru, C.A. Bossman, among others, while the newly promoted Colonels include S.S. Tilawan, one time Public Relations Officer,  Guards Brigade, O. Idoniboye-Obu, A. Rabiu, O.J. Akande, P.A. Izang, S.M.Uba, R.E. Hedima, and O.A. Ochagwuba.

In a related development, the Nigerian Air Force, has released the promotion of 14 new Air Vice Marshals(AVMs), 26 Air Commodores, 22 Group Captains and 91 Wing Commanders.  A statement by the Director of  Information and Public Relations, Commodore Dele Alonge, gave the names of the newly promoted AVMs to include Onyemaechi Osahor, Shehu Adamu, Mohammed Usman, Muhammad Abdul-Wahab, Isiaka Amao, John Baba;   Okechukwu Ntukogu Humphrey Okpala, Yekeen Ishola, Christian Dii, Sambo Usman, Auwal Muhammad, Charles Otegbade, and Isyaka Bukar.
