#Poetry: The Puritan

The battles against mind forces
Regardless of loss
Never minding its unaffordable cost.

Chronic and treacherous
It crushes every instinct we are
Crippling our decisions
Diverting desires and
Depriving pleasures
Yet growthing our spirits and Buying us sanity

Serenity of soul with no foul play
Clean consciousness with
Discipline and self control
Alas to withhold.

#Poetry: Blue, Black Sky!

An evil spell said on they
To see no rain even in may
The farmers meet a day
Complain of too much hay
No soul could explain
The drought that brought so much pain
None felt gay
Except for the dark maid
The witch at the gate.
“Who offends the maid?”
With no answer made
But for their prayer said
To God who owns the rains
Erased the mean Sun ray
Taking the scorching away
Then the blue, black sky came
And let out its bolty rains.

#Poetry: Tea And Blood

He drank from the mug

Prepared him by their maid

He wished she was his…

His view of her ended

As she left the door behind her.

He would not stop thinking

Of how she would give him

More and new children

Better in beauty and character

Than the gang of scoundrels

His “till death do us part” gave him.

… He could trade them,

He can trade them

For that hour-glass figured,

Dark, plump, graceful

And gorgeous Puerto-Rican,

Not that ugly blonde, ungrateful

Descendant of the queen….

Suddenly He felt pain

Resembling a mixture of marital regrets

And a cut from his lower lip.

Tasted like Tea and Blood.

Shakespeare Was Probably High On Drugs When He Wrote His Works… – Research Claims

He is known as one of the greatest writers that ever lived .However, researchers claims William Shakespeare could have written his plays under the influence of drugs. They claim to have identified traces of cannabis in pipes found in the author’s garden.

According to Daily Mail ,South African scientists carried out a chemical analysis on broken pieces of pipe found in Shakespeare’s garden in Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as in the grounds of his neighbours’ homes. They discovered that four of the pipes from the playwright’s house had traces of cannabis on them – implying that Shakespeare himself may have enjoyed the drug.

Two pipes found nearby had apparently been used to smoke coca leaves, but the researchers suggest that the great writer deliberately rejected the more potent narcotic.
Cannabis had been known in Europe for centuries by Shakespeare’s time, while coca is native to South America and came to the Old World thanks to explorers such as Francis Drake.

Writing in the South African Journal of Science, Professor Thackeray describes how he obtained the pipe fragments from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and submitted them to scientific analysis.

He used a technique called gas chromatography mass spectrometry, which involves separating out different chemicals to discern the make-up of a particular residue.

#ThinkOutLoud: IF I WERE GOD by @gbengaosowe

“If by any effort of reason I could conceive how God, Who shows so much anger at iniquity, could be merciful and just, there would be no need of faith”- Martin Luther

IF I WERE GOD – @gbengaosowe
Like the ancient rulers and kings of old
Whose words were absolute in the stories we were told
So would I declare death, punishment and eternal damnation
Upon the ones whose greed have greatly suffered this nation
If I were God, Nigerians would be mourning many a politician by now
So that others may learn that eternal power belongs to me alone

You gave to some, talents, gifts and uncanny wisdom
That they might be blessings, leading many to enjoy the riches of your kingdom
I now see many become curses, too grievous for you to behold
Leading to perdition many in their generation
If I were God, many musicians and artistes would be long gone.
For their misuse of my bestowment upon them.

I would not bear this kind of hypocrisy and self-deception
That I see going on without any care for my all-knowing nature
In Church on Sunday, on a drinking and fornication spree on Monday
It’d worry me that they’ll even join in lifting up “holy” hands
If I were God, I would display on billboards the secret lives of many Christians
That all may see that I cannot be mocked nor deceived.

Despite all the warning these girls go ahead with their sexual misconduct
And when they get pregnant, the “murderer-doctor” becomes the solution
It’s just some blood and nothing more, some of them say
I’d make every attempt at abortion unsuccessful
And how it would disgust me when they turn to me as complications arise
If only I was God!

How dare you maim and destroy lives in his name?
In hope of eternal glory, blessed with seven virgins in his kingdom
How dare you maim and destroy lives in my name?
In hope of eternal glory, blessed with seven virgins in my kingdom?
Destroying lives that I created for good works
Lives sustained by air which you cannot create
If I were God, no terrorist would succeed with their sinister plans
To destroy lives that I alone have created.

I thank God that I am not God
Or I, yes even I, would have been long consumed and destroyed
The best of me would have been destroyed in God’s righteous anger
Dear God, please forgive my errors and my transgressions
And lead in the path to walk and please you alone.
For it is only by your mercy that I am not consumed.
