Why PPPRA Shuts Down PENGASSAN Offices

The offices of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency across the country were shut down by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, on Tuesday.

PPPRA Branch, as result of issues bordering on the appointment of an acting executive secretary for the agency.

The agency’s headquarters in Abuja when after Mbaba was sent on an official assignment to Lagos, one Mrs. Sotonye Iyoyo, who is not a staff of the agency was allegedly sent by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources to head the PPPRA as its new acting ES.

Last week Thursday, the former Executive Secretary of the agency, Mr. Farouk Ahmed, handed over to the most senior management staff of the organisation, Mr. Moses Mbaba, who is the organisation’s General Manager, Administration and Human Resources.

Police To Strengthen Security Around INEC Offices

Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has disclosed its resolve to tighten security in and around offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, across the country.

Consequently, Command Commissioners of Police have been directed to ensure adequate security at such offices and also at election tribunal sittings.

Inspector General of Police, IGP, Solomon Arase, stated this yesterday when he visited headquarters of INEC in Abuja, where he met Acting Chairperson, Mrs. Amina Bala Zakari.

Force Public Relations Officer, Bisi Kolawole, in a statement said the visit was aimed at cementing existing relationship between the force and INEC in ensuring actualization of the commission’s mandate.

Use Your Offices To Change Nigeria’s Bad Image, Adeboye Tells Osinbajo, Ambode

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has charged Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State to use their new offices to change the bad story about Nigeria.

He spoke just as Osinbajo and Ambode assured Nigerians that God would make peace to reign in the country with the advent of the new administration.

The trio spoke at the Seventh Edition of the Excel Programme of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, organised by Apapa Family of the church at the Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, Lagos, with the theme; “Riding on the Wings of Change.”

In his sermon, Pastor Adeboye urged political office holders to use their position to change the story of Nigeria, just as he assured that Nigeria will continue to march forward with the present crop of leaders.

Amosun Orders Removal Of Jonathan’s Portraits From Offices

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has ordered the removal of portraits belonging to former President Goodluck Jonathan still adorning various government offices in the state.

Amosun gave the directive during his visit to a number of offices and ministries during a routine visit to government establishments. A mild drama ensued when the governor sighted Dr. Jonathan’s portrait in one of the offices at the Ministry of Finance at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The governor, who was accompanied by his deputy, Yetunde Onanuga, Head of Service, Modupe Adekunle, and number of Permanent Secretaries, could not hide his displeasure when he saw the former president’s portrait still hanging on the wall.

National Assembly Members, Aides Asked To Vacate Offices

?M?embers of the National Assembly have been asked to moved out of their respective offices latest Monday, May 18?,? with the expiration of the 7th Assembly just 17 days.

The directive was passed to the legislators by the National Assembly management through an internal memo?.

Aides, including senior legislative aides and other non-permanent members of staff in the lawmakers’ offices, also got the directive, an aide to one of the members of the House of Representatives.

“It is a normal routine thing that happens every four years,” the legislative aide said. “It’s to reallocate the offices, especially as new members will be coming in. Also, you know there is hierarchy here. Some returning members will be reallocated offices upstairs, while new ones will take offices downstairs. The National Assembly has to prepare for the inauguration of the 8th Assembly.”

Report provides that the legislators and their aides started receiving the memo since last Wednesday. An official, who did not want to be named as he was not cleared to speak officially on matter, said, “The directive came early so that we will be able to meet up with schedule for inauguration of the 8th Assembly. We have to do repairs, change name tags and so on.”

The Senate and the House of Representatives have 109 and 360 members respectively. However, while 76 senators are not returning, 299 House members also lost bid to return.

Trucks Pack Belongings Of Defeated Senators, Reps As They Vacate Offices

Senators and House of Representatives members who lost their re-election bids have started packing their personal belongings out of the National Assembly complex. Many trucks were seen on Monday at the main entrances of the National Assembly.

Personal belongings of the lawmakers, including tables and chairs of various sizes, framed photographs, books, standing mirror, centre rug and artworks of various sizes were loaded into the trucks.

The lawmakers whose property were being evacuated were not in sight as only their aides and the drivers of the vehicles were seen moving the goods from their various offices into the buses.
