This Guy Changed His Name To iPhone 7 & Got A Free iPhone 7

Because apparently this year hasn’t been strange enough, an electronics store in Ukraine offered five free iPhone 7s to anyone willing to change their legal name to iPhone 7, according to the Associated Press.

This might seem pretty dramatic since all you’re getting in return is a phone, but 20-year-old iPhone Cim (that’s “seven” in Ukrainian, spelt with an “C” or a “S”) was up to the challenge. Yes, he literally, legally, changed his name and in turn received a free Apple phone.

While the iPhone 7 costs the equivalent of $850 in Ukraine, the AP reports that changing your name only costs $2.

Cim, whose original name is Olexander Turin, told the Associated Press that he might change his name back when he has children. By that point there will probably be an iPhone 28, so I give him props for not wanting his children walking around with such an ~outdated~ last name. That would just be embarrassing.

Buhari May Free Looters Who Return Stolen Funds

The loot recovery efforts of the Federal Government may soon take a new dimension as there are strong indications that President Muhammadu Buhari may grant amnesty to treasury looters to encourage them return stolen billions kept abroad and in Nigeria.

A credible source said in Kaduna that Buhari might opt for amnesty option to fast track the recovery of looted national treasury to enable him fulfill his campaign promises, which will involve trillions of naira.

Reports gathered say that the amnesty option would serve as the soft side of the loot recovery strategy otherwise referred to as a “carrot and stick approach.”

While the carrot approach will be for soft looters, who may be willing to return their looted share to the federal government treasury without arrest and charges, the stick stance would be for hardened ones who, may head to court to protect their ill-gotten wealth.

El-Rufai Stops Free Ramadan Rice, Oil, Sugar Distribution

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i, has ordered a stop to government’s free distribution of grains during fasting in the month of Ramadan.

The Governor said that his administration would not continue with what he described as the People’s Democratic Party’s culture of sharing state’s resources.

“I have been made to understand that this Ramadan period, we are supposed to have started sharing rice, milk and sugar, but we will not do that,” El-Rufa’i said yesterday at the Government House.

He spoke when the executive members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) visited him.

El-Rufa’i explained that he took the decision to stop the annual tradition of distribution of the products because he does not want government to be involved in religious affairs, more so, according to him, “as the government is broke.

“If his government continues in such direction, the administration will only exist to pay salaries and allowances.

“This beautiful office complex in which we are cost the government about N10 billion.

“The Deputy Governor and I would not have built this when there are many masses-oriented projects yet to be executed, but it has been built, we have to use.’’

“So, we solicit your prayers to be able to stabilise the situation and we hope that things will improve.”

The National Broadcasting Commission has commenced the process of issuing licences for the provision of free view digital television content to be transmitted to Nigerian households.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, the Director of Public Affairs, NBC, Awwalu Salihu, said the regulatory agency, after a detailed assessment of the current television market, observed serious gaps in the content available to serve the social and economic needs of Nigerians.

It, therefore, invited prospective service providers to submit proposals for meeting the gaps as a preliminary step towards applying for licences. The regulatory agency categorised FTV digital television into several genres, including general entertainment, kids, lifestyle, sports, movies/soaps/sitcoms, music, documentaries and factual/news.

It stressed that the channels would strictly comply with the programming mandates of the commission as well as the Nigerian Broadcasting Code and other conditions to be set out in the licences to be granted to successful applicants.

Lai Mohammed Offers Metuh Free 6Week Crash Course As Opposition Spokesman

APC has denied having any hand in the crumbling of the PDP, as alleged by the party’s National Publicity Secretary Olisa Metuh, while offering him, (Metuh) a free, six-week crash course on his new role as the opposition spokesman.

Reacting to the allegation by Mr. Metuh that the APC has been working to destabilize the PDP, the party said in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, in Abuja on Friday, that during the training, Mr. Metuh will be given free lessons by his APC counterpart, in the spirit of cooperation and for the advancement of the nation’s democracy.

”Metuh will need the training to effectively carry out his new, tough task. It is now obvious that he needs to understand that for him to succeed in his new role, he must be credible, empirical, more sophisticated in language use and very passionate, in addition to being able to operate on a lean or zero budget,” it said.

APC said it is ludicrous, to say the least, for anyone to suggest that the APC is seeking to destabilize the PDP, when the erstwhile ruling party has done such a great job of crumbling under its own weight, having gorged on the commonwealth.
