Guardiola Hired, Sacked Same Day By Barcelona Over Offensive Tweets

Diehard Real Madrid fan Sergi Guardiola’s decision to write offensive tweets aimed at Barcelona came back to haunt him Monday when he was hired and fired by the Spanish giants on the same day.

The 24-year-old striker penned a deal with Barca’s B team but was sacked just a few hours later when angry fans of the Catalan club made officials aware of Guardiola’s Twitter tirade from 2013, www.lequipe.fr reported.

His tweets had included “Allez Madrid” and “Fuck Catalans”.

“FC Barcelona has decided to terminate the contract signed with Sergi Guardiola, after finding that he had published offensive tweets about the club and Catalonia,” said a Barcelona statement.

Why Buhari ‘Fired’ Head Of Service Kifasi

With less than two months to the expiration of his tenure, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), Mr. Danladi Kifasi has been ordered to proceed on terminal leave.

Report gathered from presidency sources that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered Kifasi who is due for retirement in December to vacate office in order to ensure that his administration adheres to the federal character principles as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

In a letter conveying Buhari’s directive which was issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal noted that Kifasi’s terminal leave was with effect from yesterday.

Although the SGF did not give any reason for the sudden removal of the HoS, a source at the presidency told our correspondent that Kifasi was asked to proceed on terminal leave because he is from Taraba State which is in the same North-East where the current the SGF hails from.

Abuja Bombings: PDP Wants SSS DG Fired

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently overhaul Nigeria’s intelligence agencies in the aftermath of Friday’s multiple bombings in Abuja.

In a statement signed by the party’s acting national chairman, Uche Secondus, the party said on Monday that it noted with deep sadness and concern the resurgence of terrorism and renewed attacks on Abuja.

The attack killed at least 15 people.

The statement reads in part:

“That the Abuja coordinated attacks came just as the nation was already celebrating the success of our security forces in their efforts to rout terrorists, indicates either a fact of dereliction of duty or sabotage against the anti-terrorism fight.

“Whereas we have remained steadfast in our commitment to support each and every policy adopted by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari aimed at ending terrorism, especially knowing the importance of secured environment in achieving peaceful co-existence, an imperative for development…”

TV Camerawoman Fired For Kicking Fleeing Migrants

A Hungarian TV camerawoman was fired Tuesday after footage appeared to show her kicking migrants, including children, as they ran from a police line during disturbances at Roszke, southern Hungary.

The woman, later named as Petra Laszlo, can be seen tripping a man sprinting with a child in his arms, and kicking another running child in two separate incidents.

Footage of the incident from the camerawoman’s perspective later appeared on N1TV, an internet-based TV station close to Hungary’s far-right Jobbik party.

“An N1TV colleague today behaved in an unacceptable way at the Roszke collection point,” said a statement from N1TV’s editor-in-chief Szabolcs Kisberk posted on the channel’s Facebook page later.

“The camerawoman’s employment contract has been terminated with immediate effect as of today, we consider the matter closed,” it read.

Why Jonathan Fired IGP, Suleiman Abba

The inspector-General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, yesterday, became the first major casualty of the just concluded general elections, which President Goodluck Jonathan and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lost to the opposition.

The police officer, who was elevated to the post only last year, incurred the wrath of the Presidency on the eve of the governorship and House of Assembly elections for allegedly arguing with the government officials over the directive to recall the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Charge of Zone 6, Tunde Ogunshakin, from Rivers State.

Abba, it was learnt, had deployed Ogunshakin from his base in Calabar to Port Harcourt to oversee the governorship election in Rivers State following complaints by Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, that the police had collaborated with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the PDP to intimidate APC members and rig the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

His refusal to pick calls over Ogunshakin’s recall

Another source said the former police boss reportedly ignored presidency official’s objection to the deployment of Ogunshakin to Rivers State on the allegation that the police officer was sympathetic to Amaechi and his party and would, therefore, not allow the PDP win the state.

A Presidency source told Vanguard that on learning that the IG had defied its order by redeploying Ogunshakin to Rivers State to supervise the governorship elections. A presidency official called the former police boss to recall the AIG with immediate effect from Rivers State or face the consequences.

The source said the presidency felt slighted when it could not get through to Abba.

The former police boss reportedly told the Presidency that AIG Ogunshakin was a formidable Police officer whom he described as a ‘no-nonsense officer’ feared and respected in the Police Force hierarchy and capable of ensuring law and order in the place of new assignment.

Vanguard learnt that although the sacked IG reluctantly recalled Ogunshakin from Rivers State, forcing him to quit Port Harcourt by 5 am on the election day, Presidency did not forgive Abba for redeploying Ogunshakin reluctantly.

Presence at Buhari’s certificate of return presentation

Another sin of the former IG was his presence at the presentation of the Certificate of Return to Muhammadu Buhari at the International Conference Centre on April 1, 2015, which convinced the Presidency that the IG was actually working for the opposition and it moved quickly against him.
