False Prophecy Church Syndicate Busted In Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command has nabbed a suspected fake prophecy syndicate that specialises in working with owners of churches to confirm prophecies in order to win more members for such churches.
A statement signed by the command’s spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu, in Enugu, yesterday, said  the syndicate was nabbed at Holy Ghost park axis and popular P&T axis of Enugu metropolis by police operatives of the Central Police Station, Enugu.
He noted that the syndicate, who were nabbed on August 19 and 20 included Obi Ejike from Ubaho Okija in Ihiala Local Government in Anambra and Kuku Mary from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun.
The others were Oluwakemi Joy from Ojo in Lagos State, Nwosu Chizoba from Umunze in Anambra and Peter Uchechi from Ebonyi.
The spokesman said the syndicate was nabbed on their way to a church in Abakaliki and in Enugu to join in the fake prophecy deal.
“Luck ran out of the syndicate as confusion broke out at a bus-stop among them leading to arguments, which attracted the attention of police operatives.”
He said the police team observed that Ejike and Joy were up to a nefarious act and on further interrogation they revealed their mission.
The spokesperson said, “the other group billed for Abakiliki church prophecy were trailed and nabbed at P&T bus stop while waiting for a bus to Abakaliki’’.
Mr. Amaraizu said one of the suspects, Uchechi, maintained that they were recruited in large numbers and kept in a house in Onitsha, Anambra.
Uchechi, he said, maintained that they shuttle to various states to confirm prophecies for the purpose of winning souls for churches and were usually paid through their coordinator.

12 Houses Tapping NNPC Oil Busted In Lagos

The Lagos State Government on Friday said it shut 12 houses in Abeokuta and Ibadan Streets in Ilasamaja area of the state over discovery of shallow oil wells built by landlords to steal diesel from pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

The State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, said this while briefing newsmen at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

Mr. Ayorinde said the oil wells were built for the purpose of illegally scooping diesel and selling same to members of the public.

He said some of the affected landlords built pumping machine and boreholes to perpetrate the crime on a large scale.

Mr. Ayorinde said the step to shut the wells and cordon off the area was taken by government to forestall loss of lives and property as a result of the looming danger.

Mr. Ayorinde said a combined team from the police command, the Ministry of Environment, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Lagos State Fire Service and Sole Administrator of Isolo Local Council Development Area carried out a thorough inspection of the entire area and discovered nothing less than 12 of the illegal oil wells.

He said initial investigation revealed that a few of the landlords where the wells were located were taking advantage of the situation by commercialising the dangerous act.

He said that samples of the substance had been taken for immediate investigation in order to determine the true nature of the substance as well as the root cause of this unsual occurrence.

BUSTED! Police Nabs Fake Presidential Adviser In Maitama

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on Monday said it had arrested a 70-year- old fake Presidential Adviser on Defence Matters.

Presenting the suspect who claimed to be a retired Army Colonel, to the media, the command’s Spokesman, ASP Anjuguri Manzah, said the suspect was arrested on Oct. 18 in Maitama area of Abuja, following a tip-off .

“Police operatives attached to Maitama Division acting on a tip-off arrested one fake Colonel (name withheld) who claimed to be the Special Adviser to the President on Defence Matters” Manzah said.

He said that the suspect, who specialized in defrauding influential people in the society, had gone to the area to meet up with an appointment with a former state governor.

The spokesman said that the suspect upon arrest confessed to the crime.

“He also confessed that he only hides under that guise to solicit for juicy contracts or financial favour from his high profile victims” he said.

He said that one fake identification card and five complimentary cards were recovered from him.

The suspect, who said he worked with the Bauchi State Government up to 1990, said he had been in the business for over three years.

“I thought it was an easy way to feed my family” he said.

Manzah said that the suspect had been transferred to the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department for further investigation.

Business Centre Busted For Producing Fake ID Cards For Boko Haram Members

Men of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army, in Maiduguri, Borno State capital, yesterday identified a business centre, which specialized in the production of fake National Identity Cards and other documents for terrorists.

The business centre, located around the popular and busy Post Office area of the metropolis, was being operated by Mr. John Zakariya and Mallam Makinta Umarm, who are now in military custody.

This disclosure is contained in a statement signed by Col. Tukur Gusau, the Deputy Director Army Public Relations.

The statement reads: “The arrest of the accomplices were made possible after a Boko Haram terrorist, who was earlier arrested confessed to Joint Investigation Centre that the suspected persons were in the business of producing ID cards for the terrorists group.

“The items recovered from the accomplices include; computer laptops, memory sticks, still camera among others.

“During preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the accomplices produce fake National Identity Cards and other documents for the terrorists in a Business Centre located in Maiduguri.

“These documents enable the terrorists to move freely to various destinations and carry out their terrorists activities, killing and inflicting hardship on law abiding citizens in the country.

“The documents also facilitate the smooth movement of the terrorists to neighbouring countries to network with other terrorists.

“This act by the accomplices is detrimental to the ongoing effort of the various security agencies under Operation Lafiya Dole.”

BUSTED! Boko Haram Planned To Bomb Nnamdi Azikiwe Int’l Airport

A plot by Boko Haram terrorists to bomb the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was uncovered last Monday by the Department of State Service, DSS.

The DSS made this known on Saturday in a statement by an official, Tony Opuiyo in which he said a fourteen year old boy,  Sulaiymon Abdulraman (a.k.a Sunday AJAYI), of Kogi State was apprehended inside the airport.

On interrogation, Abdulraman allegedly disclosed that he infiltrated the airport with the assistance of one Dauda Sadiq (a.k.a Peter) who the DSS said, is presently at large and was directed to spy on the installation and pass information in respect of travelers’ movement including passenger screening, boarding procedures and other processes in the departure and arrival halls.

BUSTED! 22 Boko Haram Members Among Nigerian Deportees From Cameroon

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has discovered 22 Boko Haram members among Nigerians deported from Cameroun. The returnees were settled at the internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Mubi, Adamawa, State.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Director General of NEMA, Mr, Muhammad Sani Sidi, disclosed this at the 18th Safe Schools Initiative Technical Committee meeting yesterday in Abuja.

Sidi stated that the Boko Haram members were identified with a peculiar mark on their backs among the 12,000 Nigerians deported from Cameroun residing at the IDPs camp in Mubi.

He added that 90 per cent of the deported persons were from Borno State. “The Camerounian government dumped 12,000 Nigerians at Mubi and we had to move them to transit camps and even open more camps to accommodate them.

“Ninety per cent of these returnees are from Borno State with a lot of Boko Haram elements among them.

“We arrested 22 of them yesterday, who were actually planning an attack, they were identified with a mark inscribed on their backs with hot iron in form of tattoos. The mark on their backs indicates that they are ready to die,’’ Sidi said.

BUSTED: NDLEA Uncovers Global Hard Drugs Syndicate

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a popular businessman (names withheld), alleged to be leader of an international drug trafficking organisation, who recruits and sponsors couriers to China, Malaysia, Turkey and Italy.

The arrest of the 37-year-old suspect reportedly followed the agency’s discovery of three laboratories used for the illegal production of methamphetamine in his home town in Anambra State.

Addressing journalists yesterday on the arrest described as the latest outstanding operational success recorded by the anti-narcotic agency, the Chairman/Chief Executive, NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, disclosed that surveillance indicated that the suspect shuttled between his country home and Isolo, Lagos State, residence.

He said: “He hides under the cover of motorcycle parts business in running a drug cell that has international affiliation.

“He specialises in recruiting and sponsoring drug couriers to China, Malaysia and Turkey. He also pays his couriers an average of $5,000 per trip.

“The suspect has two Nigeria international passports and one Ghanaian passport, all bearing his photographs with different names. Two other passports belonging to suspected drug couriers were also seized.

“He hired one Raphael, who is a professional methanphetamine cook to work for him. He pays him N500,000 for his service and N700,000 for the purchase of precursor chemicals per production circle.

“The production capacity per cycle is 14kg. As a result of the indicting surveillance report, he was arrested in his home country.”
