The Sokoto State Government has commenced the training of no fewer than 115 Local Government workers on modern agricultural extension services.
The Executive Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Alhaji Haruna Tambuwal, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Sokoto.
He said that five workers were drawn from each of the 23 Local Governments of the state.
Tambuwal said that the intensive training package would last for four consecutive months.
“The participants will be intimated with latest globally-acclaimed strategies on agricultural extension services.
“They will also be adequately drilled on myriad of modern farming techniques.
“This is to enable them to know how to effectively impart same knowledge to the farmers across the state.
“This is aimed at having the multiplier effects on increased food production, reduction of poverty and unemployment,” NAN quotes the executive secretary as saying.
