Lagos Prisons Command Gets New Comptroller

Mr Timothy Tinuoye, the new Comptroller of Prisons for Lagos State Command of Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS), has assumed duty on Wednesday.

Tinuoye was formerly the Deputy Comptroller in charge of Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Lagos.

Tinuoye took over from Mr Vincent Ubi, a Deputy Comptroller of Prisons, who was posted to the NPS headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking on assumption of duty in Lagos, Tinuoye promised to strengthen relationship between the NPS and other law enforcements agencies in the state.

“I will ensure that we have cordial relationship with other enforcement agencies, especially the Police, Department of Public Persecution as well as the Judiciary.

“I want to seek the cooperation of everyone so that we can do the job to the best of our ability because the job in the prison is not a job anybody can do alone,” he said.

Tinuoye promised to improve the welfare of inmates in Lagos prisons and collaborate with the state government, NGO and philanthropists to ensure that the needs of the inmates were met.

He also assured that activities inside the prisons would be closely supervised to ensure that the rights of the inmates were not infringed.

“We do not want to be infringing on the human rights of the inmates’’.

He commended the Lagos State Government for its assistance to NPS and urged corporate bodies to discharge their social responsibilities in order to help the NPS in carrying out its duties efficiently.
