Senate Panel Recommends Marafa’s Suspension

The Senate Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions has recommended the suspension of Senator Kabiru Marafa (APC, Zamfara Central) over his support for statement of a former President Olusegun Obasanjo that the National Assembly is corrupt.

 
Marafa had in a reaction to Obasanjo’s letter said he was in total support that the National Assembly budget be made public.
The Senate had penultimate Tuesday following a point of order raised by Senator Isa Hamma Misau (APC, Bauchi Central) mandated the committee to probe Marafa over his remarks on the former president’s statement.
Chairman of the committee, Senator Samuel Anyanwu (PDP, Imo East) had on Tuesday submitted the report of the committee on Marafa’s probe.
A member of the committee told our correspondent yesterday that they have recommended the suspension of Marafa.
“We have recommended the suspension of Marafa but we didn’t state the time that the suspension will start in our report. The period would be decided on the floor whenever our report is considered,” he said on condition of anonymity.
