‘Tis the season to be loved…

Everyone’s speaking of their dates this Valentine. Everyone is spreading the love, whether staged or real. So what if you don’t have a Val this year? So what if it all turned out differently for you? So what?

With the beauty of this season comes the pressure to relate. The pressure to fit in, to belong. Oh what biting pressure!

This seeming ‘couple’ as illustrated find themselves in the same unfortunate situation: they both have, individually, lovers who have gone MIA prior to the widely celebrated lovers’ day. The similarities of their plight help them bond, not a couple but as acquaintances comfortably dealing with the pain of abandonment and loneliness.

They find comfort in the fact that they are not alone in their situations and are at peace with pain. With themselves.

Do you have a Val this season? Fret not if your answer tends towards the negative. Not everyone is going to be taken this season. Honest truth. So be good to yourself. Be at peace with that. You shouldn’t be this gloomy ‘couple’. You really don’t have a Val, you say? So what again? Why eat the bread of sorrow on that singular account? The world isn’t going to come to an end if you’re alone this Valentine. Or is it?
