Hajj Stampede: House Calls For International Investigation

The House of Representatives has called for an international investigation into the tragedy that occurred during this year’s holy pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, the Senate is to set up an ad-hoc committee which will investigate the incident and report back them.

Both motions were passed unanimously in both chambers. In the National Assembly, Federal Lawmakers called for explanations.

While in the Senate, a point of order was raised by the Deputy Leader of the Senate.

Sen. Bala ibn Na’Allah moved that those who were still alive should be provided adequate treatment, while the Saudi Arabian Government must ensure that such occurrence is forestalled.

A minute silence was also observed in the House of Representatives for the dead.
