CRAN Sues FG For Relocation Of Boko Haram Suspects To Anambra Prison

Civil Rights Realisation and Advancement Network (CRAN) has filed a suit against the Federal Government, requesting prompt relocation of the 47 suspected Boko Haram members allegedly transferred to Anambra State recently.

The group in a suit filed at the Federal High Court, Awka is seeking a declaration of court that the continued detention of the “unconvicted 47 Boko Haram members at the Ezinifite/Ekwulobia Prisons, Aguata Local Council of Anambra State and subsequent commencement of their trial at the expiration of the 90 days maximum days of detention stipulated by the Terrorism (prevention) (Amendment) Act 2013, posses a grave threat to the right to life of the applicants and the entire people of Ezinifite/Ekwulobia, in Aguata Local Council of Anambra State.”

They are requesting for an order by the Court for the relocation of the Boko Haram members back to the place of commission of the offence and subsequent trial as well as order restraining further transfer of other terror suspects to the Ezinifite/Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Council.
