Let’s Make 2015 A Smooth Transition Process, David Mark Pleads

Senate President, David Mark, on Saturday, canvassed for a smooth electoral process that would make the 2015 general elections most credible and acceptable by all parties.

Mark said the electoral process should be anchored on rule of law and the will of the people rather than resorting to violence or coercion “no matter the positions we hold.”

Mark told his constituents in his Otukpo, Benue State country home at the weekend ahead of Saturday’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Assembly primaries, that elections should be guided by rules and acceptable international best practices.

He cautioned against desperation by political office seekers, reminding them that election is like a game that must produce a winner and loser.

According to Mark, “Whichever side of the divide we may find ourselves, we must rise above sentiments to accept the verdict of the elections as long as the rules are complied with.

“We are all stakeholders in the project Nigeria. Both leaders and the led must, therefore, work in one accord to make Nigeria a better place. This task demands collective responsibility”.

Mark, in the same vein, decried the massacre of worshippers at the Central Mosque in Kano, describing the gruesome murder as an act of madness by the perpetrators.
