The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali (OON) on the 16th day of October, 2014 completed his 2nd phase of his five-year tenure as Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Kwara State, Nigeria.

The University of Ilorin is no doubt a world class institution of higher learning; however, it was recently adjudged the number one best in Nigeria, according to an international ranking agency in the United Kingdom, the 4ICU ranking agency.

A distinguished administrator per excellent, and a world class figure in and outside the academic terrain, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali (OON) of the University of Ilorin, has importantly welcomed the generality of students, Staff (academic and non academic), as well as the general public affiliate to the “Better By Far” institution, to a third phase of a working administration, in furtherance of a successful two administrative year of leadership.

Even though, many had thought very little would be done to sustain the laudable administrative feat his predecessor, former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ishaq Olanrewaju Oloyede (OON) has left in place. But, since Professor Ambali (OON) assumed the mantle of leadership of the university in late 2012, there seem to be no end to structural and academic achievement by his government, as the University has witnessed tremendously the construction of many state-of-the-art edifices, the expansion of faculties from eleven to thirteen, and some other laudable developments.

His administration has recently completed among many others, an ultra-modern Multi-Purpose Hall of a world-class standard; the edifice, which was a multimillionaire project, got commissioned early this year. Notable was also the speedy completion of the new faculty of Education Complex and Lecture Theatre situated right behind the University Stadium. The Nigerian Minister for Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, was visibly excited at the humongous infrastructural developments he personally witnessed on the campus. The Minister could not hide his excitement when he was conducted round some of the newly completed projects, which he commissioned. Other projects equally commissioned by the Minister include; the Researchers’ Lodge, a one-in-town Central Research Laboratory, the Metallurgical Science Lecture Theatre as well as a number of Landscaped parking lots. At each of these awe-inspiring projects, the Minister was simply wowed.  Also, other faculties have seen a tremendous outlook, some of which include; the Faculty of Art lecture theatre as well as an impressive building at the Faculty of Law, while renovation of old buildings and facilities continues to wear new look, where many other impressive projects remain under construction.

Ann Mathew, 300-Level Science Education, Unilorin; in her opinion believes Professor Ambali is the best thing to have ever happened to University; she believed the institution have tremendously thrived under his able leadership, while placing it, the best in Nigeria.

Owolabi Temitope, 300-Level Biochemistry said, “Professor Ambali is calm but a silent Achiever, the University of Ilorin will continue to remember for is powerful leadership style.”

Comrade Olaleye Olalekan Nurudeen, 400-Level Law, Unilorin commended the administrative competence of the Ambali led government, for leading an exemplary life of leadership, a role model and staunch figure worthy of emulation. He believes; “Professor Ambali is a visionary leader with a very large desire of services to humanity.”
