The Power Of Image – Chinyere Njimogu

Image is superficial and powerful. It evokes emotions either positive or negative. Image is a mental picture or visual representation of the external form of a person or thing in art. An Image speaks larger volume than words in the real sense. It stirs your inner being to act and stretch oneself beyond limits.

Let’s start this gist with this practical example. A friend of mine in the US army after his swearing in ceremony came out with the rank of an E1 in the Army. His recruiter challenged him that He can become an E3 soldier after his training. He went to the library, took a picture of an E3 soldier Army and placed by his bed side, every morning, He wakes up looking at the image and as he does this, He gets energized to work harder to meet the requirements to be promoted to an E3. He succeeded in passing his online training and PT test and after his training He was decorated with the rank of an E3 soldier.Image is powerful, but creating an image without the determination and drive to see to its success would be like fetching water using a basket.

King David of the bible is one example I like so much, He got God to always act because he combined imagery, praise with a rugged faith that created a positive mental attitude in everything he did and everywhere he went. Take for instance this popular verse by David “When the lord turned away the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream, then our mouths were filled with laughter….You would be smart to observe that at this point there was no victory but David has gotten a mental image of how the victory will be. God sure granted them victory?.

Having a mental picture of his design that won him Professional Excellence Automobile ? Design Image Award, Jelani Aliyu, a Sokoto bred Nigerian in Diaspora, senior creative designer of the World’s best Automobile Company (General Motors). Jelani is the brain behind Chevrolet Volt Electric Car. In His interview after the award presentation, He has this to say: “We must never underestimate the amazing power of human imagination, the ability to envision a dramatically positive and dynamic future. Every great city, every moment, every historic feat, as it stands for all the world to see was once a pure thought, pure imagination acted upon and brought into reality”.

To dream is to imagine, imagining is to create a picture of possibilities that you want birthed in reality. And when we do this, it shouldn’t be small, because to have an image of small limitations is to totally underestimate the amazing capabilities that lie within each and every one of us.

Be Imaginative Today…You have the power and freedom to do this. Yes You Can.
