Gunmen attacked a busy market in a restive area of northeast India on Friday, killing 12 people, police said.
“Extremists attacked unarmed people in a marketplace. Some 12 people have lost their lives,” said Mukesh Sahay, director general of police for Assam state, where the attack took place.
