Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and other Senators who went to Maiduguri, Borno State on Monday 3rd of August 2015 to get on spot assessment of situation on ground.
The delegation, 1st of its kind by the leadership of the Senate since the insurgency began over 6 years ago assured the people of Borno State and North East in general that the Senate will pass legislations to help restore normalcy in the zone. The visit was mainly to enable the lawmakers to make on the spot assessment of situation, empathize with the people and reassure them that the rest of Nigeria is firmly with them in this difficult time. The Senate President said the delegation will go back and brief the entire Senate and then initiate moves on what can be done to provide succor for them and prepare for their rehabilitation, reconstruction of their infrastructure and rebuilding of their economy. That will be after achieving quick resolution of the crisis.
