Outgoing governor of Kaduna State Mukhtar Ramalan Yero and his deputy, Amb. Nuhu Audu Bajoga have pleaded for forgiveness for any wrong committed while in office.

Yero who made the plea through his deputy at a church service to mark the handing over ceremony, asked Kaduna people to support the incoming administration under Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

“I know we have stepped on many toes during our administration, we plead with those we have wronged to please forgive us,” said Bajoga.

He said the outgoing administration will forever be grateful for the support it received in the last two and a half years, and urged the people to support the in-coming government in order to move the state forward.

“May I emphasise that Kaduna State is our home and if we truly desire to move it forward, then we must keep aside our party differences, ethnic differences, sectional differences and religious differences.”

The deputy governor-elect, also appealed for support when they eventually take over governance on May 29.

In a related development, the outgoing governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero and the state governor-elect, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai at the weekend prayed together to kickstart the inauguration activities for the incoming government of Kaduna State.

Dear Kaduna Voters, It’s Time To Vote APC Into Power By Abdulrahman Abba

We have a State rich in history, culture, diversity, knowledge, creativity and hospitality; a melting point of culture and tradition, the Lagos State of the North! We can get better, we deserve better, and we deserve #Change

On April 1, 2015 I woke up feeling like the proudest Nigerian alive. A Nigerian with the desire to see his nation’s continued existence, a Nigerian who believes God almighty placed us all in one beautiful, huge piece of land to be an example to the World that no matter how different we all are, no matter our different beliefs, we can unite and make the World a better place. We started by doing so with the ballot box on March 28, 2015 and with Prof. Attahiru Jega’s last words in the early hours of April 1, 2015 at 2:57am we as Nigerians had created history.

General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) was declared President-Elect in the best democratic exercise ever conducted in our nation. My joy knew no bounds because finally I have a President I believe in.

At that point in time one person came to my thoughts – his name is Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, a former Minister of the F.C.T and currently the APC Gubernatorial candidate in Kaduna State for the April 11, 2015 polls. I remembered a conversation we once had about his ambition to lead Kaduna state, returning it back to its glory days and making it one of the leading states in Africa. A befitting title for a State of its caliber and age.

He said, “I am relishing the task, as you know, I never back down from a challenge!” But that something important made him scared; for him to have a successful tenure as Governor of a State with an extremely high debt profile and infrastructural deficiency, he would definitely need a willing, able partner and a friend heading the Central Government. Alhamdulillah, on May 29, 2015 your wish and prayers shall come into fruition Mallam. Not only will you have a willing partner and a friend at the helm of the central government, but also a mentor of yours, an elder brother, a father figure and an honest leader, General Muhammadu Buhari.

My plea to you my brothers and sisters, indigenes and non-indigenes of Kaduna State, we have shown Nigerians and the world that we crave #Change by giving the President-Elect General Muhammadu Buhari 1,127,760 votes. I believe and I know deep down inside of me that we can even do better. From Jere to Saminaka, Zaria to Kafanchan, Fadan Kagoma to Hunkuyi and Zangon Kataf let’s come out in mass and complete the journey we started. Let us give Mai-Rusau over the 2,000,000 million votes he deserves, let us send him to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House so that he can return Kaduna State to its legitimate place as capital of the Northern States of Nigeria.

Nasir El – Rufai is a man of leadership, great character, charisma, direction, focus and integrity. He has a passion to serve Kaduna state and Nigeria. A proven administrator with credentials and experience that his peers would give an arm to have. He is a man whose love for Kaduna State, its Indigenes and residents transcends any religious boundaries and ethnic brick walls.

We should shun all forms of negative campaign against his candidacy. At this crucial time in Kaduna state, we don’t need a Governor who is more concerned about his photo on billboards, looks and flamboyant dressing than the welfare and unity of his people. We need competent and dedicated leaders with a team of technocrats.

We should show the APC gratitude for presenting a capable son of the State to us. He is one person I trust to do what is best in the interest of the State by handing over or choosing a competent successor at the end of his tenure, irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliations.

We have a State rich in history, culture, diversity, knowledge, creativity and hospitality; a melting point of culture and tradition, the Lagos State of the North! We can get better, we deserve better, and we deserve #Change

Kada garin Gwamna!

Vote Nasir el-rufai for Governor! #VoteChange #VoteWisely #DeliverYourPollingUnit #MallamWhenYouGetThere #SaiMaiRusau

God Bless Kaduna State, God Bless Nigeria, and God Bless the President – Elect General Muhammadu Buhari.

Politicians May Use Almajiri To Foment Crisis In Kaduna – Yero

Ahead of the March 28 and April 11 polls, the director general, Media and Publicity of Kaduna State governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has raised the alarm that some selfish politicians in the state are planning to use the street beggars (almajiris) to perpetrate violence during the elections in the state.
He however said that the state government has already put in place measures that would ensure that no almajiri is allowed into the state from the neighbouring states before, during and after the elections.
Maiyaki stated this at the weekend when he briefed members of the correspondent chapel on the state of affairs of the state, including the achievements of the Governor Yero led administration.
He lamented that there was high influx of almajiri in Kaduna State because  the state  is bordered by about seven states, adding that majority of the street beggars would be sent packing by the state government to avoid them being used as tool to cause mayhem  during the elections in the state.
He pointed out the states that bordered Kaduna to include Kano, Niger, Zamfara, Plateau, Nassarawa, and Katsina, saying that these are the states that feed Kaduna with the almajiris.
He said, “Almajiris are agents of destruction in the hands of desperate politicians, and I agree that these people are ready tools for selfish politicians and individuals to use them during, either, politicking or otherwise to achieve their selfish interest.
“And as you may be aware, Kaduna is bordered by about seven states and government as you are aware has taken steps to address the issue of almajiri in Kaduna State.
“But the issue is, it is so sad and that is where I want to urge the media that we have a critical role to play because it is a major problem not only to us but to the entire nation because while they are making it look religious, there is nothing religious or Islamic about the almajiri. Infact, it is un-Islamic.
“It is a societal challenge because Kaduna is bordered by about seven states and while government is addressing the issue in Kaduna, you have people coming from other states to come and over-stretch the policy and intervention of government.
“So you have a lot of people trooping into Kaduna. So to address it, it must be joint effort, when you address it in Kaduna, you will address it Katsina and other surrounding states.
“The state government must work with these various states to address this challenge. Some of these peoples are not even Nigerians. And as we speak a lot of them are being deported back to their countries.
“Though not peculiar to Kaduna alone but the nation because majority of  these  people form part of the challenges we have as a people. So  the state government is working and not unmindful of addressing such issues.
“And government is also working with critical stakeholders such as civil society groups, Malams and even the media to avoid wasted effort and aimed at addressing the challenge that has become a major social menace to our society.

“We are all aware that the Federal government on its part has carried out issue of Almajiri schools and the state government is also addressing the issue on its own part. For the first time, a provision was made in the Ministry of Women Affairs to take care of the rehabilitation of these people.”

Kaduna Government Denies Buhari Access To Rally Venue

The All Progressives Congress in Kaduna has cried out yesterday that the PDP led Kaduna Government has denied it’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari access to use the Murtala Mohammed Square which has been booked for his presidential rally today, 11th of March, 2015 in the State. It was said that the government denied them access to it at the last minute when everything was almost set.

APC however says the government by doing so is preparing kaduna as a whole for electoral violence in the forthcoming elections and says they are jittery about the popularity of Buhari and are already scared.  We are not sure if the rally will be moved to another venue so it can hold as scheduled.

Security Agents Supervised Destruction Of My Campaign BillBoards – El-Rufai

Security agents on Friday night in Zaria and Sabon Gari local government areas of Kaduna State supervised and protected PDP hoodlums to destroy billboards and posters of my campaign, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has alleged.

In a press release issued in Kaduna, el-Rufai wondered why the police would supervise the destruction of his campaign billboard after the peace pact him and the incumbent governor signed.

According to the statement signed by his spokesman, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, el-Rufai said, “The PDP hoodlums destroyed all visible campaign materials and replaced them with those of Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, the incumbent governor.”

The statement said Zaria axis is an APC stronghold as demonstrated by the massive rallies the party held in Sabon-Gari and Zaria local governments.

“Conscious of their unpopularity, the PDP is now displaying posters of Yero that feature pictures of the APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari. It is seen as an admission that the PDP’s own presidential candidate is not sellable to the electorate, but also a demonstration of the PDP’s affinity for deception.”

“In the said posters, Yero is paired with Buhari while Malam el-Rufai is axed with a red ink.

“In the course of Yero’s rally on Saturday that brought hired thugs from all parts of the state and beyond, dangerous weapons were freely flaunted and showcased with impunity in presence of security agents.

“Since the campaign for the 2015 elections started, Yero has been preaching intolerance and indulging in violence. At the launch of his campaign on 12 January, 2015, he announced that he had powers to stop el-Rufai from entering Kaduna or leaving his house, which he also threatened to demolish. The audio recording of that statement has gone viral,” the statement further read.

The governorship candidate also alleged that the PDP government in Kaduna State and their commissioned campaigners are presently inciting citizens of Kaduna State on religious and ethnic lines against the candidature of both Buhari and el-Rufai, adding, “They are also engaging in series of mudslinging aimed at branding APC and its candidates as violence oriented personalities. They are presently circulating leaflets branding Buhari as a hater of Christians along with el-Rufai.”

“We will continue to play issue-based politics despite all deliberate attempts and mischief to taint our image and popularity before the good people of Kaduna State. Neither the tons of illicit money they are spending to bribe voters nor the violent actions designed to intimidate and frighten citizens can save the PDP in Kaduna State from the coming electoral humiliation,” the statement concluded.

Kaduna’s Situation Is Getting Worse By The Day – El-Rufai

Mallam Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai is the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kaduna State. The former FCT minister, in this interview with MIDAT JOSEPH bares his mind on why  he intends to be the occupant of  Sir Kashim  Ibrahim House  come May 29 this year

Why are you in the Guber race?

The condition of the state is getting worse by the day and no one who means well for the future generation should fold his or her hands and watch. Nigeria had administrations in the 1950s and 60s that had made it possible for me to have sound public education, but the same is no longer obtainable in present day Nigeria. The tragedy had occurred in every sector of the nation’s life and it is time people who have the love of the country at heart to sit up and do something about it. We are not in this journey just for the purpose of having power. We are not in this journey to settle scores, nor to insult others. We are in this race in order to bring back equity, justice and fairness into the process of governance. It took me 13 months to consider contesting for the post of governor. 10 years ago I was not a politician. But circumstances has forced us to become politicians.

The situation in the country and in Kaduna State require that people who had experienced the better times that past administrations provided come to the rescue. The important role of the government is providing quality education. If someone like me whose father died while I was young had not had an education, I might have gone into religious extremism, or some other vices. All of us are sons and daughters of ordinary people. We are where we are because of education, but we have lost that.

What has your party got to offer that is different from the ruling party?

The APC is a party with a manifesto to better the lives of Nigerians. We intend to bring about the required change through our programmes that would ensure peace and harmonious living among the people of Kaduna State, give free education to every child, revive infrastructure and industry to get people employed, assist farmers to practice agriculture to the best of their abilities, as well as introduce programmes for skill enhancement for people who might be good with their hands but are not so favourably disposed to formal education. This is what we want to do and it’s not going to be an easy task.

This is because the state has been brought to its knees as a result of impunity, corruption, and ineptitude. The current administration in the state had collected huge amount of money with nothing to show for it. The government has collected 600 billion naira in the last eight years. It has also borrowed 100 billion naira. We have challenged the present government to show a project of 10 billion naira. Not even the Government House is worth 10 billion naira, and we know it was constructed at three times the amount it should cost.

Insecurity has been a challenge in Kaduna State, are you worried by this and how do you intend to tackle it?

That is why we are saying that we will do everything to bring peace back to our people. We will leave no stone unturned until we bring anyone that kills another person in Kaduna State to justice. No one living in Kaduna State will be above the law under our watch. The second promise is that no child will be left without education. We will ensure that our teachers are well paid. We will also ensure that teachers are paid salaries that are higher than other professions.

These are the minimum we promise. Above all, we promise that we will treat everyone equally. We will not treat people based on where they come from or on the basis of religion or ethnicity. We will not get drawn into that because God knows why every human being is here. I have gone round and I have said it several times since I announced my intention to run for office that the whole state is one big village which is hungry for development; our goal is to develop the whole of Kaduna State without leaving behind one section of it. If others before us have focused on one section in Kaduna, we are going to change that. We want to see that each and everyone is making progress in this state. We want to see that when people wake up in the morning they see progress.
