The Ogun government on Thursday declared Friday work-free day to mark the 22nd anniversary of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election in the state.
Notice of the holiday is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Mr Taiwo Adeoluwa in Abeokuta.
An indigine of the state, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola was widely believed to have won the 1993 presidential election but the poll was annulled by the then military government.
The Ogun government, therefore, urged residents to spend the day in peaceful celebration of the anniversary and to pray for the repose of the soul of late Abiola.
The statement also urged residents to pray for the political and socio-economic growth and development of Nigeria.
