5 corpses found, hundreds feared dead as migrant boats sink off Libya.

Five migrants were found dead in the sea off Libya on Thursday after the boats they were travelling in sank, likely carrying hundreds more to their deaths, an aid organisation said.

Proactiva Open Arms, one of several groups operating in the area, said it was notified that an inflatable boat was sinking and found another going down shortly afterwards.

“We brought on board five corpses recovered from the sea, but no lives. It is a harsh reality check of the suffering here that is invisible in Europe’’, the group wrote on Facebook.

Given the size of the boats, which are often packed with people by smugglers in Libya, there were probably more than 100 people in each, Proactiva spokeswoman Laura Lanuza said.

A spokesperson for Italy’s coast guard, which coordinates and participates in rescues, confirmed the five bodies were on board Proactiva’s ship, the Golfo Azzurro, which he said would remain in the area in case of any emergency calls.

A rising number of migrants are attempting to cross the central Mediterranean this year after a deal between the European Union and Turkey largely shut down a route to Greece.

A total of 559 deaths have been recorded in the Mediterranean so far this year, according to the International Organisation for Migration. About 5,000 were recorded for the whole of 2016.

U.S. ship fires warning shots at Iranian Guard boats

A U.S. Navy ship fired warning shots at several patrol boats belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in the Gulf, the U.S. Defence Department said on Monday.

The shots were fired Sunday after four fast boats approached the U.S. destroyer Mahan at high speed, Pentagon spokesperson Jeff Davis said.

Before firing the three warning shots, the crew of the U.S. ship attempted to make contact with the Iranians over the radio, but received no response, Davis said.

Davis accused the Iranian Guard of actions that were “unsafe and unprofessional.’’

White House spokesperson Josh Earnest echoed Davis’ comments, saying that “the behaviour is unacceptable.’’

There have been multiple incidents involving the U.S. military and the Revolutionary Guard in the Gulf.

The Pentagon said there were 35 such incidents last year, 23 in 2015.

State Department spokesperson John Kirby said there had been no communication between the U.S. and Iran on the diplomatic front.

DISCOVERY: An iceberg did not take down the Titanic after all.

What made The Titanic sink? Come on guys, it wasn’t because of Rose’s door stealing ways that made Jack drown.

The popular explanation that ran for decades is that The Titanic sank because it collided with 100,000 year old iceberg on Sunday, April 14, 1912.

New findings from British journalist and Titanic expert, Senan Molony disputes this. According to Molony who has dedicated 30 years of his life to the events that led to the unfortunate event, a fire in the ship was the reason The Titanic went under.

Apparently, there was a fire in the Titanic during its construction which weakened the ship enough for the iceberg to crack it open.

Molony looked closely at the old photos of the doomed ship which were taken by chief electrical engineers before the ship left Belfast Shipyards.

The journalist noticed thirty feet long black streaks on the right of the hull the ship, at the front. This was the same place the iceberg struck.

Experts have agreed with his theory. Indeed there was a fire in the ship that started at a fuel stock.

The official Titanic inquiry branded [the sinking] as an act of God. This isn’t a simple story of colliding with an iceberg and sinking. It’s a perfect storm of extraordinary factors coming together: fire, ice and criminal negligence” says Senan Molony.

The fire was known about, but it was played down. She should never have been put to sea” he further says. The effect the fire had on the ship was played down so that it could leave for sea on the appointed date. 1,500 people out of the 2,224 passengers died on The Titanic’s maiden voyage.
