Sokoto State governor Aliyu Wamakko has said that all is now set for the formal disposal of all government quarters across the state before May 29.
The governor, who spoke yesterday through his commissioner for land and housing, Mr Nasiru Aliyu Dantsoho, also assured that the government will ensure equity and transparency in the process. “Nobody will be given more than a house in the course of the sale to allow for fairness and equity”, Wamakko assured.
Among the government quarters to be sold, according to Wamakko, are those in Ya’uri flat, Baddo Quarters, University Temporary Site, UBA Quarters, Arkila Low Cost, Parliamentary Quarters, City Campus as well those in Aliyu Atiku and Abdullahi Fodiyo road within the state metropolis.
He said that the housing units at Kalambiana area of Wamakko local government would also be among those to be sold, adding that the sale will be done on the basis of 70% for the general public, 25% for the state civil servants and 5% for the state federal civil servants.
