The Force Gender Office of the Nigeria Police has conducted a capacity building training programme for Police Gender Desk Officers from the North East Commands.

The one-day exercise would involve the re-uniting and re-integration process of girls and women recently rescued from several terrorists camps in the Sambisa Forest.

According to the Police Public Relations Department, the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, gave the approval of the training.

The office added that the training would enable the officers respond in the most professional manner to the needs of the rescued women and girls.

“Upon the approval of the Inspector-General of Police, the Force Gender Officer has conducted a one day capacity building training for Police Gender Desk Officers from the North East commands,” read a statement.

Police said this training would enable the officers respond in the most professional manner to the needs of the rescued women and girls from Sambisa Forest.

“These set of officers will also be involved in the re-uniting and re-integration process of the rescued persons,” the statement read.

The military recently handed over 275 rescued women and children rescued from the Boko Haram insurgents.

They have been handed over to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
