The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim K. Idris, has commenced massive community involvement in policing as part of initiatives to foster total re-organization and transformation of the internal security architecture of the country.

The initiative, named Eminent Persons Forum, entails the coming together of critical stakeholders in various states of the Federation who desire to partner with the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring the safety and security of their states.

The Imo state chapter of the initiative was inaugurated in Owerri, the state capital by the Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu on behalf of the Inspector General of Police.

Delivering his opening address during the inauguration, CP Lakanu, stated that the formation of the Eminent Persons’ Forum is the brainchild of the Inspector General of Police, whose main objective is to integrate community element in the arduous task of effectively and efficiently policing the state.
