Civil Defence to recruit additional 10,000 personnel.

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Abdullahi Muhammadu Gana has requested for additional 10,000 personnel to be recruited into the service.

 

According to a statement from the corps spokesman Emmanuel Okeh, Gana made the  remark after the decoration of 10 senior officers promoted from the rank of Commandant to Assistant Commandant General at the Civil Defence Academy, Abuja.

 

Gana explained that the additional personnel is ” in order to meet up with the demands from different Ministries, Department and Agencies of government seeking for deployment of the Corps personnel.”

 

The CG clarified that the promotion of the officers was purely on merit, therefore they must justify the confidence given to them.

 

Gana also posited that, with the demand from Ministry of Agriculture, the Corps is expected to provide 6,000 personnel to protect the proposed 200 cattle ranches in order to curtail the incessant crisis between the Fulani herdsmen and Farmers.

 

He encouraged personnel to be patient as the management is working towards ensuring payment of their shift arrears, election allowances as soon as fund is made available by the Government and not to join rumour mongers speculating that their money was embezzled.

INEC To Deploy 18,511 Personnel To Edo

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will deploy a total of 18,511 officials to conduct the Edo governorship election; the election management body announced yesterday.

The commission also yesterday announced that a total of 1,925,105 voters had been registered for the election in the 18 local government areas of the state.

The details of the personnel being deployed for the election showed the division of the state into 192 Registration Areas (RAs); 2,627 Polling Units (Pus); and 4,011 Voting Points (VPs). The statement further revealed that “The Commission will deploy 1 Returning Officer; 18 Local Government Area Collation Officers; 192 Registration Area Collation Officers; 263 Supervisory Presiding Officers; 2,627 Presiding Officers 12, 036 Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs) I, II and III; 2,530 Assistant Presiding Officers (VP); 728 Reserve APOs (5%); 19 LGA Supervisors + 1 HQ Reserve; and 97 RA Cluster Supervisors + HQ 1 Reserve (2RAs/Supervisor).”

Boko Haram: Police Begins Movement Of Logistics, Personnel To North East

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase said that the Force will be launching the logistics and personnel for war against terrorism today.

The IGP, who disclosed this at the second round table on security stabilisation in the North East in Abuja, said the movement of personnel and logistics begins today.

According to him, “Following the outcome of the last roundtable, the Nigerian Police have heightened its deployment process.

“In furtherance to this, massive human and material assets have been mobilised while the engagements of strategic stakeholders, particularly the military and local communities are also being pursued with vigour.

“I can confirm that by tomorrow(today) Friday 18th March, 2016, the first logistics procured and personnel mobilised for first phase of the deployment will be launched”.

He also hailed the collaboration between the Nigerian police and the military in taking bold steps in neutralising and sustaining the pressure on terrorists.

In another development, the IGP also kicked started the balloting and allocation of Nigeria Police Force pre and post retirement housing scheme for Enugu, Yola, Katsina and Benin.

Britain Trains 150 Nigerian Army Personnel

The British Military Advisory and Training Team (BMATT) has organized a five-day capacity training seminar for 150 Warrant Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Nigerian Army.

The seminar is part of the collaborations between Nigeria and Britain in tackling the Boko Haram insurgency in the north-east and other similar security challenges across the oil-rich nation.

The commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Major General Sani Muazu, made the disclosure on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, at the seminar held at the Armed Forces and Staff College, Jaji in Kaduna State on Tuesday.

The Army Chief said the BMATT had been assisting Nigeria in the capacity building of its military forces in the areas of tactics for over 35 years.

He explained that the seminar would focus on the operation development of the officers, with the aim of making the Nigerian Army a professional force.
