JUST IN: FG redeploys 2 Permanent Secretaries

Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has approved the redeployment of some Federal Permanent Secretaries.

Dr. Shehu Ahmed of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has been assigned to the Ministry of Environment, while Dr. Bukar Hassan if the Ministry of Environment has been moved to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In a Circular issued to that effect signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, directed that the processes for handing and taking over should be completed on or before Friday, 10th March, 2017.

El-Rufai Swears In New Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries.

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has sworn-in four new commissioners and eight permanent secretaries.

The new commissioners sworn in included: Barrister Umma Hikima, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, Commissioner for Local Government, Professor Kabir Mohammed Mato, Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry and Hafsat Mohammed Baba, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development.

The governor also appointed two caretaker chairmen for Giwa and Zangon-Kataf Local Government Areas.

In his address at the inauguration of the appointees, El-Rufai said his government decided to bring new commissioners to energize the administration for better performance.

While commending the former commissioners for their service rendered to the people of Kaduna state, he explained that none of them were dropped or sacked but were deployed to handle other government assignments.

He reminded the appointees that they were joining the cabinet at a time the state and country as a whole is facing economic challenges, hence they must work harder to deliver on their mandate.

“I thank the former commissioners for their service in our state. I want to make it clear that we didn’t drop any commissioner.

“None of our commissioners was dropped. Some former commissioners have been deployed to other functions of government. So, our team is intact and we are all together.

“We carefully selected our team members. We decided to bring new commissioners to energize the administration and to inject new blood.

“You are joining a ‘wahala’ team and I sympathise with you because we work with little earnings.

“The permanent secretaries were chosen based on their competence, integrity and all the directors chosen to be permanent secretaries sat for exams and faced oral interview so, we have the best of permanent secretaries,” he explained.

Some of the appointees thanked the governor for deeming them fit to serve in his administration, hence, promised to contribute their quota towards making Kaduna state great again.

Oshiomhole appoints 4 permanent secretaries on last day in office.

Adams Oshiomhole, outgoing governor of Edo state, has appointed four new permanent secretaries.

 

Peter Okhiria, chief press secretary of the governor, disclosed this in a statement.

 

Oshiomhole will be handing over power to Godwin Obaseki, winner of the September governorship poll, later on Friday.

 

But Obaseki and Philip Shaibu, his deputy, will be sworn at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, the state capital, in on Saturday.

 

Cromwell Idahosa, the chief judge, will administer the oath of office upon them.

 

Okhiria listed the new appointees as Anthony Okungbowa (ministry of justice), Kadiri Bashiru (secretary, Nigeria Labour Congress), Y.A Imoudu, (chairman, Association of Secondary School Principals), and Obosamwinye Obazee ( headmistress).

Buhari Approves Appointment Of 18 New Permanent Secretaries

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of 18 new Permanent Secretaries in Nigeria’s Federal Civil Service, replacing earlier sacked ones.

The President also approved the deployment of the Permanent Secretaries, collapsed some Ministries and announced the establishment of new ones.

The new ministries are; Information and Culture, Budget and National Planning, Agriculture and Rural Development.

Although no reason was given for the decision, the spokesman for the President, Mr Femi Adesina, said that the appointments and deployments were with immediate effect.

The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are Mrs Ayotunde Adesugba, Mr Mahmoud Isa-Dutse, Mr Taiwo Abidogun, Dr. Bukar Hassan, Mrs Wakama Belema Asifieka, Mr Jalal Ahmad Arabi, Mr Sabiu Zakari, Mrs Obiageli Phyllis Nwokedi and Mr Aminu Nabegu.

Others are Mr Bamgbose Olukunle Oladele, Mr Alo Williams Nwankwo, Dr. Shehu Ahmed, Mr Ogbonnaya Innocent Kalu, Mrs Nuratu Jimoh Batagarawa, Mr Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, Mr Bassey Apkanyung, Mr Louis Edozien and Dr. Ugo Roy.

President Buhari Fires 17 Permanent Secretaries

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the mass retirement of permanent secretaries. Reports have it that no fewer than 17 permanent secretaries were asked to go.

Mr. Buhari made the decision known to the permanent secretaries during a meeting in his office at the presidential villa a few minutes ago.

At the meeting were Chief of Staff to the President Abba Kyari and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

This is coming ahead of the swearing-in of the ministers-designate scheduled for tomorrow.
