Olukoya Obafemi: Unite! Kogi West and Kogi Central Unite!! #Kogi Decides

Glory to the Almighty – for tapping the Okuns and the Kogi Central people out of their protracted comatose and for awakening them to the reality they are faced with today.  Today, we cannot substitute the urgency of power shift in the State, after several years of political circumvention and secular subservience. We have finally decided to confront the seeming “default” with our collective voices.

“All’s well that ends well” – an ancient proverb which became popular by William Shakespeare. The power shift wish is not yet well until it ends well. the rhetoric – “power shift” – will only be a mere cliche if we refuse to come to a startling truth.  We have to ensure that the everyday sang song “power shift” goes beyond being a mere abstraction to take its place with empirical reality by adopting a phenomenon that can validate the abstraction.

We cannot deny that the effects of the chasm opened by several years of PDP dogma in kogi state have not only ravaged our physical environment, but it is gradually having deterring effects on our collective minds. However, as much as we must accept heterogeneity as the material constituent of democratic setting, we (Kogi West and Central) must congregate our difference at a convivial point. Let us see beyond the plurality of our pluralism. We must learn to institute tolerance as the basis of democratic debate. Tolerance does not mean we have abandoned conviction; on the contrary, it gives variety of political options.

The plethora of candidates in our home front is very disheartening. We have decided to profuse our political ground with such hotch potch approach which will divide our votes even within our own homes. Revisionism is known as the tapestry of history. Going down memory lane, the defunct political party – AD – collaboratively supported the candidacy of Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo of PDP in 2003 just to unite the Yoruba home front against whosoever candidate. Okun and Kogi Central, such unification beckons on us, in coherence, similarity and fullness of phenomena. Collectively supporting a candidate is not a sign of weakness or cowardice, rather, it that of strength and enviable maturity.

Today, all signs tell us it is possible and imperative that learn the brave and startling truth. The current Governments with its insatiable drive for autonomy will stop at nothing cement its continuous hold of power. A Government which is supposed to civilize power by accepting constructive criticism, but rather, it relegated itself to a corner of contempt and complacency. Be as it may; only unity will be the most active tool in the hands of the Kogi West and Central.  United, we are beyond formidable. We are unstoppable. We are the possible. Together we stand, divide we will fall. Every seeming political Goliath of Kogi east will be resigned to defeat in the face of our unification.

Unite Okun, Kogi Central, Unite! Eni a wi fun, oba je o gbo!

Olukoya Obafemi
