The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has chosen Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari as its new chairman on Monday. Yari emerged at the end of the meeting of the Forum held at the Lagos/Osun Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, who is the outgoing chairman of the body said that Yari emerged chairman by consensus and would serve for a period of one year.
Monday’s meeting is the first time the state governors will be meeting after the Forum descended into crisis in May 2013 following the emergence of two factions.
