Tv screens are experiencing the massive influx and dominance of bare buttocks. Most times, music videos appear to be seemingly incomplete without those random flashes of buttocks.

Now do you recall times when a girl mistakenly swings her legs apart in public? Yes, that alone will rain down all the insults from the elderly in your entire community. Point being that, we were not even tolerated  to swing those legs apart, even if we were wearing trousers and it became like a taboo to swing open your legs apart in public.

But as time changes, technology revolutionalized; cloths changed too. Things that are worn inside as draws are not just worn publicly, but recorded for further references. The sole aim of entertainment has been taken over by all sorts of obscenity that were once things that can only be done behind closed doors. And suddenly, girls now consider becoming video vixens “professionally” and it is being justified theatrically as a “stage” thing. Please, let’s leave the noble discipline of theater out of this.

These videos are just evidences of how we have easily absorbed lewdness and have no regard, whatsoever for decent cultural norms. Or maybe this assumption is wrong, but then what other excuse do we have for lyrics that only make emphasis on words and phrases like, “yarnsh”, “give it to me”, “whine”, “shake that”, “smack that”, etc. Or have we exhausted all that is left of morals and cannot sing anything else aside jargons or they have ran out of ideas enough to not figure out something else aside twerking?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with twerking, but there is everything wrong with shuddering your barely covered behind like a jelly on public media outlets. The music industry has been turned into a public toilet where auto-tune can fine tune weed baked voices as long as they can rhythmically follow a beat with obscene words.

Growing up, some of us listened to inspiring songs with videos that carried morally inspired storylines and the worst we ever heard was “baby” but today….

Sex may sell, but it can equally offend the buyer you are trying to persuade. At least, Dr. Sid’s “Surulere” and Davido’s “Aye” proved otherwise.
