More Chibok Girls Will Be Released- FG

The Federal Government yesterday stated that dialogue was still ongoing to ensure the release of more Chibok girls and other persons held hostage by terrorists , even as it has threatened to deal with sponsors of Boko Haram as terrorists.

Senior Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publicity , Dr Femi Adesina made the assertion in Lagos after presenting a paper titled ‘ The Challenges and Expectations of the Media in Military Operations’ at a workshop organised by the Directorate of Army Public Relations, DAPR for its officers, Commanding officers and Defence correspondents.

Reiterating federal government’s resolve at ensuring that those held hostage by members of the Boko Haram sect were released in good condition, Adesina said ” This government is doing all it can to tackle insurgency. If it knows the sponsors and is double sure they are the sponsors, it would be left with no choice than to treat them like Boko Haram ”

He stated that those so far released from terrorists’ den by the military, were being rehabilitated “physically, psychologically and in all aspects. Their education is being taken care of as well. Talks are ongoing on the release of the remaining girls. Many more would be released,” he assured.

During his presentation, Adesina called on the need for there to be synergy between the Military and the media , in the former’s bid to tackle insurgency. He said “There must be synergy between the military and the media for national development. The military must arrange controlled access for the media at all times. It must know that communication with the public is not optional but an obligation and in national interest.

“All the media wants is information. So, the military should ensure that the media is fed on the need to know basis. Meet the reporters midway by providing information that would not jeopardise operations. There should be opportunities for open and independent news coverage facilitated by the military.

“Both the media and the military run on ethics. But, they are not mutually exclusive of each other. A relationship of creative tension must be accepted as a democratic necessity,” he said

This Dead Celebrity Earned More In 2016 Than Any Living Celebrity

At a certain point, the amount of money that a celebrity makes is just a number. However, even the most aloof individual has to admit that £675 million is a pretty big one. That’s how many dollars the highest-paid celebrity of 2016 took home. The plot twist? He’s not even alive.

On Wednesday morning, Forbes announced Michael Jackson as the highest-paid dead celebrity of 2016, earning £615 million after the March sale of his half of the Sony/ATV music publishing catalog, which notably contained The Beatles library. He paid just £39 million for the catalog back in 1985, eventually splitting it with Sony ten years later, proving that he’s not just the King of Pop, but also the King of Investments. The sale put his total pretax earnings at £675million, which is the most earned in one year by any celebrity dead or alive.

For comparison, the highest-paid celebrities in 2015, like Katy Perry and Floyd Mayweather Jr., made £110 million and £245 million, respectively.

Michael Jackson also topped the 2015 list of highest-paid dead celebrities, but with a noticeably “smaller” sum at just £95 million. In fact, he has remarkably continued to earn nine figures every full year after his death. Now that’s something to dance about.

Michael Jackson tops the 2016 Forbes list of top grossing deceased superstars, earning a whopping $825 million.

More Women Claim Trump Touched Them Inappropriately

US presidential nominee Donald Trump has again come under pressure as more women claim to have been sexually abused by the billionaire businessman from New York.

The allegations were reported on Wednesday by The New York Times, The Palm Beach Post and Yahoo News.

This comes after the release of a 2005 tape in which Trump is heard making vulgar comments about women and having a conversation about trying to have sex with a married woman.

One woman told the Times she was seated next to the Republican nominee during a flight to New York some three decades ago, and Trump started groping her suddenly.

“He was like an octopus,” Jessica Leeds, now 74, told the paper. “His hands were everywhere. It was an assault.”

Another woman, Rachel Crooks, also told the Times that he kissed her without her permission. “I was so upset that he thought I was so insignificant that he could do that,” she said.

The Trump campaign has denied many of the allegations made against him, and called the Times article “a completely false, coordinated character assassination.”

“It is absurd to think that one of the most recognizable business leaders on the planet with a strong record of empowering women in his companies would do the things alleged in this story, and for this to only become public decades later in the final month of a campaign for president should say it all,” Trump spokesman Jason Miller said in a statement.

“To reach back decades in an attempt to smear Mr. Trump trivializes sexual assault, and it sets a new low for where the media is willing to go in its efforts to determine this election,” the statement added.

“None of this ever took place,” Trump told the Times on Tuesday night, and threatened to sue the publication if the paper went ahead to run the story.

“You are a disgusting human being,” he told the reporter, who contacted him before publishing the story. “I don’t do it. I don’t do it,” he said.

More Illegal Structures To Go After Sallah- Ambode

Illegal buildings and other structures in Ikoyi, Victoria and Lekki areas of Lagos State may be demolished after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, as the special committee set up for the purpose, yesterday gave notice of enforcement
Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Tunji Bello, said this followed the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum issued to owners of such structures.
He disclosed that abandoned buildings, which allegedly harbour prostitutes, shanties, street hawkers and those who had converted walkways into trading points and food courts in the areas would be affected.
According to Bello, the committee decided to first embark on sensitisation campaign to give owners of such illegal structures enough notice to pull down such structures before expiration of the 14-day ultimatum.
He advised owners of illegal structures in the areas, who may still be sitting on the fence or nursing the hope that the government would have a rethink on the cleanup to make use of the window offered them now or face the full force of the law.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had last week inaugurated a 15-man special committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello.
During the inauguration Ambode lamented that the Environmental Sanitation and Town Planning laws in the affected areas had been violated.

Daniel Craig Reportedly Offered $150m To Reprise James Bond’s Role In Two More Films

Who will play the tuxedo-clad secret agent in the next James Bond movie? This is one question that has been playing on the minds of fans and there have been numerous rumours suggesting various stars could step in actor Daniel Craig’s shoes. However, a latest report has claimed that the actor, who could be cast in the coveted role, is none other than Craig himself.

The news will sure surprise fans of the spy series as the 48-year-old English actor had earlier rejected the idea of reprising the role of the secret agent and said, “I would rather break this glass and slash my wrists [than do another movie].”

Craig has been seen in the role of agent 007 since 2005 and has been reportedly offered a whopping $150m 113m) to return to the thriller franchise for two more films. “The studio is desperate to secure the actor’s services while they phase in a younger long-term successor,” a source told gossip website Radar Online.

As per the report, Craig’s reluctance to reprise the role seems to have worked in his favour. Shedding further light on the scenario, the source explained, “[Craig] has played a genius hand. Everyone knows how much executives adore him, and the idea of losing him at such a crucial time in the franchise isn’t an option as far as all the studio honchos are concerned.”

“Daniel’s the key for a seamless, safe transition as far as Sony and Bond bosses are concerned, and they’re prepared to pay a king’s ransom to make it happen,” the report mentioned.

As far as the role of the spy agent is concerned, several frontrunners have surfaced in recent times with names such as Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, Adian Turner and even Tom Hughes making the rounds. While neither Sony nor Craig have officially announced anything about the role, if the report turns out to be true, the Spectre actor could be seen in two back-to-back films.

“Then they will shoot two more films, which will be made virtually back-to-back, preferably featuring Daniel as 007 before he passes the figurative baton to someone else for a third movie that will mark the start of the new era,” the source added.

Scientists Confirm New Sexual Disease, Say Black Men More Likely To Test Positive

Scientists in the United Kingdom have confirmed the existence of a new sexually transmitted disease called mycoplasma genitalium.

The confirmation of the bacterial disease, which causes painful urination among other things, as an STD comes more than two decades after it was first discovered.

A team of fourteen researchers arrived at the conclusion after conducting a national survey of the sexual lifestyles and attitudes of British men and women.

The researchers said the study, which involved testing urine from 4,507 sexually experienced participants aged 16 to 44 years for MG, “strengthens evidence that MG is an STI”.

They added, “MG was identified in over one per cent of the population, including in men with high-risk behaviours in older age groups that are often not included in STI prevention measures.”

The study found that men of black ethnicity were more likely to test positive for MG and showed that the prevalence of the disease was 1.2 per cent in men and 1.3 per cent in women.

It also found that for both men and women, the disease was strongly associated with reporting risk behaviours such as increasing the number of total and new partners and unsafe sex in the past year.

Although it recorded no positive MG tests in men aged 16 to19, prevalence peaked at 2.1 per cent in men aged 25–34 years, while prevalence in was highest in 16 to 19-year-olds at 2.4 per cent and decrease with age.

It added, “Men with MG were more likely to report previously diagnosed gonorrhoea, syphilis or non-specific urethritis, and women previous trichomoniasis.”

Health.com in an article about the study quoted a clinical associate professor, Raquel Dardik, as saying the symptoms for women included irritation, painful urination and bleeding after sex, while those for men included painful urination and watery discharge from the penis.

#DidYouKnow: More Chinese Restaurants In US Than McDonald’s Stores Worldwide

Experts estimate that there are more than 40,000 Chinese restaurants in the US now, a number that outstrips the total number of McDonald’s outlets in the world, estimated at 36,000.

Chinese food has been around in the US since the mid-1800s, when a huge influx of Chinese immigrants came to California during the Gold Rush.

The newcomers started opening restaurants and eventually began settling elsewhere thanks to the railroad expansion. That resulted in the establishment of Chinatowns all over the place.

For decades, Chinese food was considered exotic and available only if you ventured to a predominantly Chinese neighborhood. But today, you can walk almost anywhere in the US and you’re likely to come across not just one, but multiple Chinese restaurants
