Jibrin Lobbies New Reps-Elect Over Speakership

One of the aspirants jostling for the position of the Speaker of House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has taken his case to the 200 newly elected members of the House.

He has promised the new lawmakers 75 percent of committee chairmanship and deputy positions if elected Speaker. Jubrin in a letter to the lawmakers pledged to give special attention to the new members.

Jibrin, who heads the House Committee on Finance, accused his other opponents for the position of showing little attention to this new group of dynamic in coming members.

He advised the new members to use their numerical strength by supporting his candidature. This would be the second letter Jibrin would write to his colleagues in the House.

Gbajabiamila Lobbies State Caucuses For Speakership

In a bid to shore up support for his quest for the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila is wooing state caucuses of the House.

Gbajabiamila, who is also the current Minority Leader in the House, has started to reach out to state caucuses of the House.

He has equally set up a 36-man mobilisation committee to canvass support for him in the states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The state coordinators are to help him to solicit support of in the build-up to the election of new Speaker.

The campaign coordinators included Rufai Chanchangi (Kaduna), Abdulahi Balarabe Salame (Sokoto), Khadijah Ibrahim (Yobe) and Baderinwa White (Ondo), among others.
